Bought a switch lite for 160$ decided i wanted actually switch called day after purchase to ask if could return for 160$ but they said id had to wait for store owner to come in and hed be in soon called back again was told store owner would be in at 3 or 330 when i called at 3 no answer called at 345 still wasnt there left my name and number no call back. 7 days later just took 80$ in store credit bc thats all i could get and bought switch out right all screens look bad and smudged one i got is decent but controller doesnt hold charge and the controller locks on side dont lock and sometimes doesnt detect controller 260$ for switch this is an outrage and i will never be purchasing anything there again read more

I love independent gaming stores like the Gamers Grotto! I wish there were more of them so whenever we spot one we always have to stop in and see what they have. This is a huge store. It's dedicated to all things gaming and doesn't have graphic novels (which is actually kind of rare for stores like this one but I thought it was great - more room for the hobby and video games). They had tons of older video games at great prices. There was some sort of gaming going on in the backroom that looked like a fun time. My partner ended up buying a Fire Emblem game that he'd been looking for and just waiting for a good opportunity to support a local business and buy. At the register, I spotted a very cool display of leather earrings and ended up buying a cute pair. I'm told they'll have Halloween inspired ones in very soon so you know we'll be back. Let me sum it up in 1 word Ripoff. Games are overpriced, return policy absolutely sucks and customer service is piss poor on so many levels. I was playing a game their with my cousin and we had like 2 minuets left in the quarter and the owner stood in front of the tv and said you gotta pay the $8 or leave. I haven't gone back since and don't intend to, I make sure people I know that ask me about that place know what they are doing before they do it. read more

Pretty great game stop, as far as those go. Gamers Grotto has: -board and card games -video games and consoles (including old school Sega and Nintendo, plus lots of PlayStation) -used DVDs (including TV series) -hobby supplies -tournament tables I love that they had the used DVDs for $4, and some on clearance for $1. I found a copy of the Great Gatsby (Baz Luhrmann) for $4 and it was in near-perfect condition. What a steal! There were plenty of other DVDs to choose from, in all genres, so make sure you take a look. The gaming section was sufficient, though perhaps not as hearty as other gamers shops I've been to. I didn't see any of the Arkham horror games. They did have quite a healthy representation of the Monopoly special editions, different types of chess and other family staples. Prices for the games were on point with other gaming shops, but still more expensive than you'd find online. ($20-40 for an average board game). I briefly perused the video game section, looking for Sega Dreamcast games, but didn't find any at first glance. When I asked the guy behind the counter, he said "if we had some, it'd be in the cabinet." You mean, the locked cabinet that I can't get into? Although I could peek in through the glass, there was no way I could check each case myself. He never came over to assist me, or to open the cabinet. Instead, he asked some dude who was sitting at a tournament table if he had time to fit in a game with him. The manager noticed me looking a bit disgruntled and asked if he could help. I explained that the other employee didn't really help me to my satisfaction, and the manager came over and looked for Dreamcast games with me. When he didn't find any, he showed me where he shops online for games-- above and beyond customer service! Much appreciated. Note: there is a $5 minimum for debit/credit card transactions. I walked out with just the DVD, but at least the interaction with management showed that Gamers Grotto cares about the satisfaction of its paying customers, in addition to supporting its loyal tournament players. read more

Stopped by in here to check it out as we were passing through the town and the place looks AWESOME. I seriously wish I had this place near my house and it could just take all my money. Great selection of boardgames to purchase. Pretty much every single one of my favorites was here. Zombicide, dixit, pandemic, all the catans, and other spectacularly nerdy games. There is also an area to rent time to play card games and video games. Classics too. Obvi if you're not into this stuff then it's just a nerd zone but if you are and have a decent amount of disposable cash you won't want to leave. Ever. read more

I heard about the Gamer's Grotto when I came here to go to school. But I didn't start visiting regularly until recently because my boyfriend got me into Magic. This place is a really fantastic community for gamers and nerds of all kinds. They have lots of table top RPGs which of course include Warhammer. They also carry a very good and inexpensive collection of Magic cards. My boyfriend was thrilled when we visited and said the prices for Magic cards was really great. The staff are very quirky and friendly. I've only been about four or five times but they remember me and chat with me when I come in. The Grotto participates in Friday Night Magic and also hosts tournaments so if you like competitions, this is the place to go. I definitely recommend this place if you're interested in any sort of card, video, or table top games. read more

Nice store with a great space! They had a pretty good selection of games, including chess sets and family standards. Nice selection of Warhammer/Warhammer 40k, and had tables and terrain for games. Not too much else on the miniature gaming end of things. Broad selection of Pathfinder and 5E, including a good sized inventory of Reaper RPG miniatures. HUGE inventory of DVDs , X-Box, and PS3 used items and a surprisingly deep collection of Genesis/NES/SNES carts. There was a packed case of Gameboy/DS games and systems, along with pre owned consoles and controllers. Good selection of the newest Magic sets and a small, but nice, selection of singles. The gaming space looks great, the store stock is a nice broad selection of nerd items (other than comics), the store was clean and free of the dreaded gamer funk! The board game selection (I hope) is a work in progress. I have been to a couple similar shops in CT that had a greater range. This store had board/card games in one section, DVD/BR in another - with options to rent, used games and space to rent TVs to play games in the back half as well as test board games. For me with no wifi it's great to rent from, if I can wrangle some nerdy/adventurous friends it can be a fun outing for board/card games. read more

As a kid in Bennington, many complained of having little or nothing to do on the weekends or during vacations. Gamer's Grotto provides card tournaments, the luxury to relax and play video games in a friendly environment and they hold video game tournaments for both youth and adults alike. Selling everything from Magic cards and vintage video games to board games and new releases, Gamer's Grotto is a great local store. read more

Been going to the Gamer's Grotto for about 5 years now. Used to go for FNM, but now mostly go for Warhammer 40k and Magic prereleases. Awesome store with friendly, respectful workers + the store owner is very nice and always helpful. Good selection of board games, and they do board game night weekly as well which is awesome. I always recommend people check out the store if they're nerds at all. Oh they also sell incense there too now, which makes the store smell really good all the time read more

Great place. My friends and I had a private party here and it was a great experience. It's a really cool space- large and clean with all kinds of games, movies, table top games and other cool stuff to browse. Keith and his staff were super helpful in prepping the party. I'd definitely go back the next time I'm in town. read more
