But..... my gosh. The dishes looked nice. My niece said her food was okay. Her cousin said his food was overcooked. My dish was trash, my gosh, I couldn't stomach the taste. The salmon was tough, tasted bad, rank. The seasoning was weird and didn't pair well. It had some kinda spice that tasted odd. I don't even know what to say about it. But later that night I was throwing up well into the morning. I only eat possibly 3-4 small bites, most of the dish was left back. I still tipped and didn't complain as I just wanted the kids to have a nice night without arguing with whoever. As I write this I am reminded of the disgusting taste. NEVER again for that dish! Now that I think about it I honestly shouldn't have tipped. Paying for that dish was already above and beyond!

The modern, chic decor sets a wonderful ambiance, and the service was immediate and welcoming. The food was spectacular from start to finish. We started with fresh, warm bread, followed by a flavorful seafood gumbo loaded with meat, and a generous portion of two lightly breaded crab cakes. For our mains, the 10oz ribeye and 8oz tenderloin were seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection--compliments to the chef! They came with a lovely side of baby potatoes and vegetables. We capped off a perfect meal with a warm pecan tart and ice cream. I highly recommend coming here. We noticed they have a pizza oven and plan to add pizza to the menu soon; we already can't wait for our next visit to try it out! Ps parking wise, the restaurant is just off a residential neighborhood and parking is free. No need to pay for any parking, just remember to read signs.

There are specials that change weekly. The interior is decorated with New Orleans memorabilia, medium lit, cozy (not large), with jazz music in the background. Service was attentive and friendly. They operated for 30 years at their old location. This location soft-opened on 2026-02-12. We came on 2026-02-25 for dinner. There were still some furnishings to complete (there were unforeseen delays). They kept the same menu offerings but it will be expanded within a month. We ordered the following: 1. Citra Terre D'Abruzzo Pinot Grigio - Italy (glass $14.95). 2. Coke. 3. Crab Cakes ($19.95). 4. New Orleans Shrimp Cocktail ($19.95). 5. Jambalaya Aranchini (weekly special). 6. Blackened Lamb Chops (weekly special). 7. New Orleans Fisherman's Plate ($39.95). 8. Pecan Pie warmed with Ice Cream ($14.95). 9. Bananas Foster ($14.95). 10. Beignet ($14.95). Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037

A BBQ treasure nestled between the edges of Ajax and Whitby offers must have succulent eats…read more I've been here several times by now and tried pretty much everything on the menu and nothing is disappointing, everything is delicious. On the most recent trip I really enjoyed the country fried steak. While it is heavy, it is perfectly fried and topped with a savoury and creamy white gravy. The fries on the side were cooked absolutely perfectly. The coleslaw was tangy and balanced. The Mac n Cheese was so creamy, with a hint of spice and topped with breadcrumbs to create a mix of flavours. This is already on top of the many other tasty dishes such as the pork shoulder and smoked chicken wings which I highly recommend. Butchie's is a BBQ staple for Durham region. I've been here several times and I'll be back many times over, especially during the summer for their beautiful backyard style patio!

I don't know why I was expecting more of bbq type food, but you're in for things like chicken…read morewings, hush puppies, pulled pork, country fried steak, and sandwiches. No ribs or brisket, so I'm not sure if they really ever have that sort of bbq food available. The hush puppies were nice. I liked the crunchy/ crispy exterior and the soft, cake like interior. It was a savoury item I've never had before and definitely can understand why it's popular. I also like the sauces they served with these. Smoked chicken wings were amazing. Chicken had a nice salty, herby rub it was tossed in. It was like all dressed or bbq chip seasoning on top of the chicken which was a bit addicting. Our chicken was a bit over cooked and slightly dry, but it was still great. My partner had the country fried steak. I was going to warn him it probably wasn't his cup of tea but he never tried so there you have it. It was a fried thin steak with some gravy sauce over top. I don't know if that's how it's suppose to taste to be honest so I don't want to really judge it. I personally wouldn't order it. Nevermind if it's how it should taste, I just didn't love the soggy feel to it. The steak was super dry and over cooked. I loved the drink options. They carry a sparking tea made locally and I know they've tried to partner with local artisan drinks. They make milkshake the real way with real kawartha dairy ice cream, which is amazing. I love that they have real Kawartha Dairy ice cream too. The service is 10/10. People are incredibly friendly! The food took a while to come out the kitchen so definitely not an option for rushed dinners, but atleast it's fresh. Personally, I want to support them, but I think it's not my kind of food. I hope they continue to be in business though and spread their good spirits and fun. I'll definitely swing by for ice cream once in a while.

Captain's Boil, the formulaic chain would be the floor and the one I really enjoyed, Lobster Boil Seafood House, in North York would be the ceiling. What I'm about to say about Sea Salt would definitely leave their management a bit "salty". Unequivocally, Sea Salt sits in the deep basement of the pecking order. Sea Salt's standing was easily determined after my first spoonful of the seafood broil. The sauce was their downfall as they went overboard with the of garlic and not to mention they burnt the garlic. As the Cajun sauce is the soul of a seafood boil, their sauce literally ruined the entire dish and experience. The combo we ordered came with fried calamari and shrimp and fries. The fried calamari and shrimp lacked a bit of "salt", which is rather ironic considering the restaurant's name and neither of the sauce complimented (sweet chilli and ranch) the calamari well. The fries were what you expected it to be. But a little bit too much sauce. The one thing that I liked was you could choose to have the Turkish Salaam Cola as part of your combo drink choice. I didn't think it was all that different from regular cola, but it was nice to try. Service is quite slow here and not super attentive. We had to flag them down various times to get things that should have been provided. We weren't given enough plates to start and we had to request for bibs and disposable gloves. These are pretty standard things at other boil places. In general, the appetizers were better than the seafood boil. The portion of the combo was pretty good so we packed some of it to go. But to put things into perspective, the following day I reheated the food for lunch, and my two kids didn't even touch it (with one of them who had experienced Lobster Boil Seafood house). That tells you something!

You go girls I love it. Came here for dinner and had a hard time choosing what to order as there are so many good options on the menu. Really wanted the calamari & shrimp appetizer but opted in for the shrimp bucket and the fish and chips. I also got a coconut mango drink which was super refreshing and delicious. I thought the fish tacos had a kick of spice added but they were still good. The fries were crispy, which I loved but the highlight for me has to be the shrimp. I loveeeeed the sea salt sauce. Though I usually don't like corn, I loved this one and enjoyed the meal. Would come back here for more for sure!

Horn Dawgs does a brisk take out business, and I can understand why…read more We ordered the Puppy Dawg Meal and got an amazing quantity of food. Jenna, who took my order, was friendly and professional, efficient, but willing to give her time and opinion to help me decide on the order. Now that's good service. This was my first time here, and it is great to have some quality BBQ so close by in Pickering. Main event: The Ribs. These ribs are amazing. I had them sauced with the terrific house sauce (sauce so good that I bought a jarful - Jenna told me that they just made it this morning!). The ribs are tender, but have a nice tug and chew so that you know it's meat (as opposed to the fall-off-the-bone, melt in your mouth kind that make you feel like you are eating stewed meat - kind of like what happens when I make ribs for my family). The sauce complimented the meat well, enhancing the flavour while allowing the porky rib quality to shine through. I can't say enough about them. The chicken was as close to perfect as I have had. On its own, some might call it under spiced, but you can add that yourself. Personally, I like it just as Horn Dawgs makes it: a simple, very crispy, savoury coating with moist chicken inside. The white meat was really juicy and tasty! Pulled pork was great. Some nice, crispy, lightly charred bits to give some contrast to the moist pork meat. We have quite a bit left over, because everyone was all over the ribs and the chicken. My advice about the pork: ask for your sauces (of course I recommend the house sauce) on the side, so that, if you have left-overs, the sauce doesn't make them soggy. Just sauce each portion to your preference, just after preparing the portion. Our sides also lived up to the expectations set by the mains; smooth, creamy mashed potato, sweet and savoury cornbread; really stand-out baked beans, with a sweet but smoky flavour; fries that actually tasted like potatoes! To top it off, excellent service, easy parking and (for me) a convenient location. It is somewhat hidden behind a Thai food restaurant. It is just east of the Pickering Go station. Great Service and great food! If you are in the Pickering area and craving some BBQ, skip the big chain restaurants (abundant in Pickering) and head on over to Horn Dawgs! Support a local business and have some top notch food all at the same time! Righteous, and tasty! All they need to do is adopt a pup, feature his story, and then, Romeo, I will be your Juliet! P.S. A week or two later, I made some ribs myself and sauced them with the jar of sauce that i bought at Horn Dawgs. Perfect! I can see why this sauce has won awards.
