This place is teeny tiny by comparison. But after getting over the shock, I was pleasantly surprised. This place ain't bad. I've come here a few times now, both for seated concerts and standing gigs. I definitely prefer it as a venue for gigs - there's a good little bar at the back and plenty of space too throw some shapes. When they put out rows of seating though, they cram in as much as possible... so if you're stuck on the end, like we were, the view ain't great. And twisting my body and craning my neck to see meant that I came away stiff all over. Ouch. But always happy to giggedy-gig here!

This was a one-off show as he's in the middle of recording his new album right now. The gig was, well, probably the best I've ever been too. But this review is of the venue and, that was pretty damn good too. No sticky floors in sight here, just miles of bars making it really easy to get served, and a low stage with sunken floor, all standing, and brilliant acoustics. This is as close as you could come to a 'your front room' feeling in a 1000 capacity venue - well worth braving the 40 minute boat trip!

Yeah, this is basically the pub that every Iron Maiden fan ends up at when they go to London (though I mustn't be such a huge fan because, well, I didn't realise that this pub existed until recently). Mind you, it isn't the easiest of pubs to get to, but it isn't bad. Hey, they even have some good beer on tap, but yeah, it's the Iron Maiden that attracts me.

Don't go! Seriously - it's all mine and I don't want to share it…read more Okay that is a bit extreme but this place is the most magical club in the world and I'm resenting every letter I type here. So here's the deal, I'll write this and you'll appreciate it but never actually set foot it this place..okay? Good! I discovered this club/venue through my far too cool flatmate and we went on Halloween. It was like a huge house party full of your friends in some of the most horrific fancy dress I have ever seen. They have a small stage at the front where local artists perform alongside burlesque dancers for a truly eye opening experience. The place is filled with party people who dress funny even when they aren't in fancy dress and the drinks are cheap enough to get drunk on £20. That is after playing a whooping £10 to get in. Since that night I have been back a few times and every time I do it gets harder to get in. The queues are longer and the door staff ruder, in fact this Halloween we got there and they wouldn't even let us in at all. At 7pm (and I like to say that the normal starting time for things like this is about 11pm) there was over 200 people outside all waiting. We were not one of the lucky ones. So if I have had all of this trouble why so many star? It will still always be an amazing mixture of students, artists and free thinkers out for a good night with like minded people in a historic venue. There is even a Banksy painted on one side of it's wall. I wish more places would be like this so that we could all fit in!

The seat of the chair I sat on fell through between the legs as I adjusted my bum on it, and the stage was set with a massive light-festooned heart and a fabric vag the size of a sofa. Admittedly, this happened to be on the night of The Vagina Monologues performance and the crowd was teeming with lesbians and feminists, so that might explain the decor. I figure that the booze is typically cheap and that the space is just as grotty for any other event. The beauty of it is that's all it's meant to be - no more and no less. ---- As an aside... how does one punctuate the gents'? Gents? Gent's? Gents'?

The only evidence of its existence is an orange sign and an open gate inviting you down stairs. Once down there you enter a small basement bar with a few chairs and tables looking towards a tiny makeshift stage. There's a certain charm about it, almost as if you have found your way into a secret club. Everyone sets out to have the best time possible and a close knit group of local artists organise music showcases. The usually small crowds here respect the music which is nice and this enhances most people's enjoyment of the evenings. In my experience the music at Oliver's isn't that brilliant but it is still worth checking out and the artists usually enjoy a bit of light banter with the crowd. The bar area is based in a tiny room next to the performance area and when busy, this area gets very congested. It is also where the toilet is. For some reason people insist on standing there and so if you need to relieve yourself then leave yourself plenty of time to get to the loo.

My work was inside the O2 arena which is inside this outlet too. I went to Nandos, Five Guys, Chiptole, German Kabob and a Thai restaurant. It was reminiscent of the Planet Hollywood Mall except it is [semi]circular. There is a Wetherspoons located on either end (yay!) as well restaurants that specialize in worldly cuisines. I went for the first time to see my favorite boy band, Five, on their reunion tour. A 20,000+ person capacity arena in the center of a "mall" is wild. The arena had great sound, and even though I was in the upper tier stage-left, I had a clear view of the stage. For a first time visitor, it is important to note that the upper tier is very steep. I was only in the 2nd row from the ledge, so I did not have any issues with vertigo/motion sickness. However, I would personally avoid seats near the top because I know I would have issues. There is a separate merch store outside the area to avoid crazy lines once you enter the arena. You can bring small packages and pursues inside but they made others rent a locker to place large packages and jackets. In addition to the arena, there is a smaller venue that was simultaneously hosting a K-Pop concert and the dinner venue for Mamma Mia! I wish I would have arrived when the shops first opened as I could have easily spent an entire day wandering around. If you are visiting London and have the opportunity to see a show at one of the venues, I highly recommend making a day of it!

He has been doing gigs in London for a few decades now and wanted to get a simple venue for people to showcase their art. They have a few events going on per week: improv, comedy night, movie showcase. That being said, there can be some improvements made to the venue and Ray was very receptive of my comments. A better selection of beverage and more food items will be nice. But they're set up just yet, and he's nice enough to let you bring in outside food. One last note: I love how you can hire out the venue for a function too! I may just have to plan a birthday party here in the near future! Do check out their website for what's going on!

There is, however, a definite punk edge, evinced by the Barcelona pin-faces who pile onto the side patio for cigarettes any time of year, and the general sway of the musical acts booked in most nights (expect to pay a small cover if you arrive after eight). Drinks are somewhat on the expensive side, but long waits at the bar are virtually unheard of, saved by staff that may seem surly but are rather delightfully low-key. Non-locals need not be put off by night transit: both Commercial Road and Whitechapel High Street are surprisingly well-served by the system. All in all a reliable place to grab a drink and feel both at home and away at once.

It was meant to have 370 people but probably maxed out at 50 at any given time. But that's another story. The bar was small, but well-stocked and there was also some live music playing. All I remember were very tall men wearing suspenders ( those are braces, if you're a Brit) and a whole lotta lederhosen on stage. Everyone in the audience was dancing feverishly, and everyone looked like they were having a great time. The place wasn't air conditioned, so I had a bit of a Marilyn Monroe moment as I walked past the fan and into the bathroom area. I'm not sure I'd make it back here again (it's a bit far) but it looked like a cozy, intimate, and fun place if you're into the slightly strange. Apparently, there's live music/performances every night!
