Saw this place on Yelp while in town for work with my sister and it was a great little stop for a post work drink! The lovely owner of the shop gave us a little talk about the locals and artisan goods they have and helped us pick out a beer. Once we picked them out she guided us to the back garden where there's string lights and plenty of seating. Very cute ambiance for drink with friends! I came here for a birthday party. The place is super adorable. They have a variety of wines and craft beers to choose from. There is lots of outdoor patio seating with shade. We recently found this "secret" Garden Shoppe is actually a great place to hang out! My wife and I went there for a wine tasting even a few weeks back. There was some great wines as well as some hor d'oeuvres. Friendly people and warm staff along with live music. Last night we went to a comedy show, it was a beautiful evening. We enjoyed some wine and 3 comedians took the "stage". We had a good time The have a large selection of beer and wine, and not just the well know stuff, but some lesser know but good beer and wine. I just happened to go to the Garden Shoppe on one of their event nights. This lady approaches and asks if my mom and I want to join. We mentioned we had other plans and she just walked away. So we shopped around, a young guy and young woman greeted us and were super sweet. I found this cute little PLASTIC planter with a super small succulent in it. Looked at the price tag on it, said $12. I brought it to the front and the original older lady said "oh no I can't sell that for that price! I'll give it to you for $35." WHAT?! Since when do business people negotiate UP?? I just told her "but that's the price tag you have on there". She grabs the planter from the table and puts it behind her and stands there staring at me. Then her and the young woman start whispering in the very next room. Which I thought was unprofessional and just rude. Like I'm standing right there! Lol I don't get it. She just lost future business, and now not just from me. read more

Let just start by saying the ambience is amazing. Super cute shop inside filled with organic and woman owned products. They have quite the selection and every single beer was a hit. Super welcoming. Absolutely love the garden/patio area. I was able to relax here a couple times before I had to leave town and it was very homey. Loved this place. Also bought a few beautiful succulents that the owner grows, just like every plant in the back. This was the cutest shop i visited in Hollister. Everything you need is there with a huge selection of interesting and unusual pots, baskets, moss, stones and statues. You can even create a fairy garden. Bar offers a wide selection of local beer and wine you can enjoy in the back patio. Plenty of comfy seating surrounded by the lush gardens. Weekends often offer live music, comedians, movies, murder mystery dinners or other fun events. The gift shop is stocked with an eclectic mix of hand crafted, ethically sourced items.....lotions, bags, scarves, kitchen items, gourmet food, jewelry, knick knacks and more. What a gem that you must frequent. This place has a life of its own with something for everyone. It's part bar, part garden shop, part movie theater on Fridays, part community events center, part gift shop and part social gathering spot for book clubs etc. It is in a beautiful home and the owner is so congenial and accommodating. Very cute wine bar, friendly people and great beer and wine selection. However, if you are looking for a place that follows covid guidelines, you may feel uncomfortable here. We found the staff did not wear masks nor did they require their guest to do so when browsing through the shop, in their wine bar or at any point in time. They did have hand sanitizer available! Perfect place to relax outside. Beautiful patio, surrounded by lots of plants and flowers. Indoors is a cute gift shop, outside all potted plants are for sale. You can sit there for hours, drink a good wine or beer and enjoy the unique atmosphere. Nothing you would expect on a side street in Hollister. It looks like a residential house driving up, but once you go to the back, you will be surprised. Just wish they would stay open a bit later on weekends. read more
