I've been going to this bar since I was 21. I've never had a bad experience. Most recently met the new bartender Taylor. She is a beautiful soul and she's as sweet as apple pie! I will continue to come here no matter what. Especially when Taylor is there! She provides such a great vibe to the bar as soon as you walk in. That's hard to find anymore to be honest. Definitely a dive bar, which there's nothing wrong with that unless the older blonde bartender takes the meaning of it too far and proceeds to be rude, slow, absent, and inappropriate to her customers. You don't leave your bar back empty and unattended for 30 minutes at a time to go outside and smoke on a busy Saturday night. You don't call your customers names and try to start fights with them. A dive bar is that because of the ambience and inexpensive drinks, not because the face of the establishment acts like trash. Do better. read more

The old blonde bartender is a terrible bartender/server. My first experience here and it was not pleasant. She called me racist names and insulted our party because someone accidentally spilled the drink on the bar. As a bartender, her job was to clean it up and not insult the patrons. Moreso, they shouldn't assault someone by putting their hands on them when they aren't even in the establishment. Unprofessional, lazy, rude and just deplorable. There are better places with better clientele and setting. I'd avoid this place like the plague. I worked in the service industry for 10+ years and have nothing but respect for hospitality workers. This person was not a hospitality worker in the least. She seemed annoyed that she was even employed. Maybe management should fix that and let her go. I'm contemplating filing a police report due to the assault I experienced. In short, go elsewhere. read more

This Saloon is exactly what I was expecting! Relaxed, lots of locals just hanging out talking shit... I absolutely fell right at home. There's your common blue collar worker, bikers and just everyone in between. The bartender Mrs. Bobbie she's a doll, all on her own. Stopped here while on a bike ride with my man. It was the perfect atmosphere felt like your home town bar. We always love to have a drink or two and play pool and lucky for us they have two pool tables in the back. The bartender was very nice and she made my drink just right. What a bunch of asshats and douchebags. Even when using a special low bar by which Hollister bars must be judged, I'd still recommend you avoid this place. You certainly won't get treated well unless you're a regular, and I sort of suspect it helps to be white. Just sayin'. I've been here a couple times, and it always just tends to be a downer, but I never felt the urge to jump on yelp and bitch about it. But the last time we went, my husband made the mistake of putting his foot out the door with a beer in his hand. Not only did they rudely yell at him to turn around, they also wrested the beer out of his hand and threw it away. This doubly pissed me off because the only reason we agreed to go with our friends to this snake hole is because my husband was looking forward to a properly dressed Corona- really the only thing this place has going for it. All they had to do was inform him nicely that he wasn't allowed to go outside with his beer, and there wouldn't have been a problem. If I ever go here again, it will only be to shove $5 into their Internet jukebox and put a bunch of Middle Eastern songs in the queue. I know from experience that they don't appreciate this. A group of friends and I went to this place last Saturday, 1st time. After they carded us at the entrance, we proceeded to take a few steps into the place to check it out. Lots of young people here, 20's and 30's mainly. The bartender was fast about getting your drinks, that part was OK. We had some Coronas and started to check out the surroundings a bit. The pool hall was packed and there was no chance of getting a table. Everywhere you looked, there were lots of drunk idiots picking fights, I saw about 1 fight break out every 5 minutes where some guy had to be hauled away, with bad facial bruises, WTH? There is almost no security in this place so people get really stupid, really fast. If you are looking to sharpen you MMA skills, this would be a great place to hang out with a hardcore MMA tag team. Just check to make sure your opponent does not carry any sharp surprises. After about 20 minutes of looking at the same idiots staring at their iPhones and gang hoodlums wanting to throw down, we starting talking about leaving since two Mexican gangs came through the door and started eyeing the joint like a full-on gang fight was about to be had. WTF? This appears to be the norm at this place since no one gives a dang about safety. Where are the freaking cops? They should be circling this place like vultures along with the INS. read more

The beer is cheap and these guys open at 6:00 am to start serving booze. Bathrooms are far from clean. There's a pool table and this place gets packed on the weekend and during the biker rally. read more

I came here the other day on a sunday evening and this was a alright bar,when we first walked in they checked are id's which was understandble,and they also had a sign on the wall that said "If you look under 25 we'll ask to see your id" and yea I look under 25:) lol I was with my cousin and sister and we were origanlly looking for someplace to eat and we stumbled upon here we ending up staying for like a hour they bought some drinks,I had a coke and we played some pool Overall this place seemed really chill and a hotspot for locals I would definantly come again,oh and the reason why it gets 4 starz rather than 5 was cause they didnt have no food,nothing to grub on!!:) and they only take cash but theres a ATM in the back read more

Couple of middle aged upstanding white bike travelin bar divers (taxi when we drink), left Johnny's cause they treated us like s--- and walked over to this place - learned of it from a taxi driver. Alot of young people, great people watching. Loud music, comfortable bar seats, tall tables, pool tables, bathroom was fine. We were treated well, served awsome drinks, had no issues and they called a cab for us. Yes, we sensed an 'element' there, but they weren't putting up with any nonsense. We'll be back. read more

Cheap drinks, pool tables, a juke box and a 20 something crowd. The standard no frills, just drinks, bar experience. Honestly, for all the talk of stabbings that happen here, I've never not had a fun-ish and safe time but I still wouldn't recommend it. I've seen a couple of fights and some drive by gang sign throwing from 4 guys in a car that had me ducking just incase it was something else. A good place to stop if you just want get drunk but I prefer to go to a place where I don't feel like I have to keep my eye on the door. read more

I fricking love this divebar! I lived in Hollister for almost 2 years and I actually looked forward to coming here on Friday nights (not that much to do in a small town). Monday thru Thursdays its dead in here but the weekends its packed after 10pm. Average age of the crowd is 21-30, awesome. Jason is an awesome bartender once you get past his dicky personality. The front door security is amazing and if you're shit faced trying to get in good luck with that. As for creepers, well its a bar so thats expected.
