This costume shop is a cute little gem. They have items for purchase as well but if you're looking to rent from another era that isn't too easy to find this is your place. I like that they have a good selection of human hair eyelashes as well. The employees are helping at finding the items needed. To rent could be kind of pricy but again if you're in short notice for something it's open all year round. read more

Great costume shop, especially if you might be looking for something in particular you're around and not during the Halloween season. They have a ton of options available. They have tons of accessories as well. Hats, glasses, shoes, masks, wigs, and everything that you might think of for all the current and past superheroes. The staff is very friendly and cordial and go above and beyond to try to help you find what you're looking for. Costumes are for sale and for rent, which is a great option. They do have some custom made costumes that they have used for their shows were currently using for their shows that you are able to read. Very well-made and very well-designed. I recommend going there if you need a costume that is hard to fine or if you need some ideas as well, definitely go with time so you are able to look around and make the perfect choice for yourself. read more

If you want or need a costume, start here. There are many options for costumes in this world, but if you live in Tucson, always start here. My granddaughter (13) wanted a Halloween costume. Not just any costume, but *that* costume. It was available on Amazon, with guaranteed delivery by November 5th. Not useful. Thus began a multi-hour tour of every Party City, every "Spirit of Halloween" shop in town, all to no avail. Finally, weary, exhausted and no longer really caring about my ability to keep a promise to my granddaughter, we stopped by the Gaslight Costume Shoppe -- AND THEY HAD THE COSTUME! Had it, in stock (two of them), and at a 30% discount, when neither Amazon, nor Party City, nor Spirit of Halloween was able to deliver. Okay. Now we're fans. My wife and I went to this costume shop looking for a costume, we were actually sent here by the owner who was at their temporary location for Halloween. I was amazed at the amount of costumes they had, but surprisingly there were none in real sizes, they were all for tiny people. I am not tiny and my wife is definitely not an XS (extra small). So after searching around they found a costume that might fit, and as she was on her way into the fitting room the bitch manager or someone appeared with a tape measure and started taking measurements and said she could not try it on... it was close in size and maybe it wouldn't fit, but we couldn't even see how the costume looks even if it couldn't zip up. Then after that she reappeared from the back with a One Size fits all Theatrical costume for nearly 4 times the amount, or we could rent it for the day and that only cost double the amount of the other one was to buy. read more

My wife's annual Christmas party was this last weekend. Like every other year there was a theme, sort of a 20s/Great Gatsby sort of thing. My size is 46L, and nowhere in that shop did they have a single garment that fit me. So, when we approached the counter to see if there were more options in the back somewhere, we were met with 2 of the most ignorant employees I've ever encountered anywhere. These 2 young girls never once welcomed us, first of all. When we started asking questions these two young employees continued to rummage through new boxes of makeup exhibiting way more excitement about the new supplies, without giving the proper attention and respect to the customer. When we were finally able to get a response, they seemed almost inconvenienced somehow and had two of the SNOBBIEST attitudes (almost as if from a dumb sorority movie). The only explanation I can think of is that these two young employees are either family members or friends of the owners, otherwise there is no way in hell any reputable proprietor would even hire two sad souls such as these. ...I grew up with the Gaslight Theater, it was a HUGE part of growing up here, and I have been to nearly 100 shows since I moved to Tucson; and whether or not the costume "shoppe" is even fully affiliated with the theater, I don't even have any interest in any part of it. Because of this lazy, undependable, non-communicative, and disorganized person we got in some MAJOR trouble for a project. Gave material and directions 13 days earlier with a promise of a 14 days turn around. The day I was supposed to pick it up I found out that NOTHING had been done. Unprofessional to a level i have never experienced before. I fervently hope they change management or go out of business because people like this do not merit any sort of business interactions and should stay at home. STAY AWAY from the sewing department of this store...rent, buy and whatnot BUT DO NOT use them if you have any sort of deadline. read more

I was really bummed when an event I was emceeing (the year's best party in my opinion) was postponed due to the coronavirus. I was disappointed for many reasons but also (selfishly) because I had already rented my sweet 80's powder blue tux. When I went to return it to The Gaslight Theatre Costume Shoppe, the ladies in there were disappointed for me and told me they're just going to hold it for me for when it was rescheduled. Not just credit me the money- HOLD IT for me. That's really, really cool. I highly recommend you go there whenever you need a costume. I love this place. While I have never actually rented or bought an actual COSTUME, I love going there for zombie makeup supplies. They have Ben Nye for A LOT cheaper than you can get it online. And they have some of the BEST liquid latex in town (Not like the cheap stuff you get at Spirit around Halloween.) I'm actually about to head out there now because I have a Zombie Makeup gig coming up for the Slaughterhouse and I need more latex. :) Great friendly staff, and they give military discount :D read more

I went to.the Gaslight Costume Shoppe for my daughter's spirit day in high school. It was Decades day. She decided to go as a 50's girl. The Costume Shoppe hooked us up with everything she needed even her shoes. She loved the outfit! The price was extremely affordable and we went from looking to trying things on and out the door in less than an hour. The people that work there are very knowledgeable and extremely talented. Employee Renae gets 5 stars and more!!! I went there to look at costumes for a Halloween/ Costume party, and found a costume/dress I really liked! Renae offered to adjust part of the dress to fit me and she made it amazing! It didn't even look like it was adjusted! She did such an amazing job, and was so kind! The rest of the girls that work there were also very kind and helpful, and supportive with all the questions I had. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a one- of- a- kind costume! They store itself had a variety of costumes, and many accessories. The pricing is about right, for costumes and accessories. I rented and bought everything there, so it was done in one stop! As a loyal customer of the Gaslight Costume Shop for several years now, I am more than equipped to say that Brian B. may have his company, and location named wrongly. The Gaslight Costume Shop has only ever been located north of the Gaslight Theatre, as they are a support to the theatre: all costumes are designed, created and sewn, which can be located either at one point on the stage, and or on the rental showfloor. The open motto at the Gaslight Costume Shoppe is always 100% customer service, where their employees are knowledgeable in not only costumes, but accessories, and wigs as well, and are always more than ready to help each customer. Never can I imagine that either managers at the Gaslight would bolt to any customer with a measuring tape, and not allow for one to try on. Again, as a loyal customer, I know each manager personally, and know that is not in either of their personalities to do so. I have however heard horror stories from another costume shop, very similar to that of Brian B.'s. I think Brian B. has the Gaslight Costume Shoppe confused with Creative Costume, who at one point did have a temporary location for Halloween with their move from Stone Ave to Speedway and on the northside of town. Again, the Gaslight Costume Shoppe has only ever been located north of the theatre, and I recommend this place for any authentic, desiring costumer. read more

I think people should know how quickly the owner of the Gaslight took action when he discovered my frustration with a garment I bought at his shop. I ended up not able to wear the dress due to the zipper and was initially told the only thing that could be offered was for one of the seamstresses to fix the zipper. The owner immediately rectified the situation and completely won me over with his customer service. Thank you very much for everything! I am a lifelong customer now. read more
