The last time I came here was on a weekend awhile back and it was fun! I parked on the street before walking in and as soon as I set foot in the joint that night, I felt the joy that others were experiencing. Everyone was singing to a famous, familiar song on karaoke and I immediately chimed in to join the crowd as well before heading to the bathrooms in the back. The drinks were solid and the karaoke was fun throughout my time there! I am so glad I came through that night since they were singing hit after hit. It is such a great place for a good time!

We love it here! And always make it a point to stop by when in town. It's an intimate dive bar type place that has good prices on drinks and fun karaoke. And while I don't partake in the karaoke it's always fun to listen and vibe. Personally I feel like the bartenders are doing a great job and especially when it's a busy Friday night let you know hey - I'll be right with you but im working on closing these people out. Such a great LA dive bar, would definitely recommend!

Awesome karaoke. Adam is a great bartender. Overall, it was a great experience. You gotta go if you're in the area. I didn't get to order food BUT they do allow for delivery service like doordash, Ubereats etc etc. 10/10 would recommend.

Super fun spot, tons of people showed up on a Thursday and everyone was hyping up the singer which always makes it fun. They have a great selection of songs and drinks are reasonably priced. Just a good'olfashioned karaoke bar!

Came on a Friday night. They have live karaoke. It's very small, dive neighborhood bar. They have about 4 booths and the rest is bar seating. Old school leather tufted booths. Small corner stage or more like a riser for folks to sing. One local DJ, nothing fancy. Super casual. Bartender was friendly. Seems like they have regulars. Had a glass of red wine that was about $7 bucks which is unheard of in Santa Monica. It's definitely old Santa Monica small town vibes. Nothing hipster or fancy here. They have TV's at the bar 8 and around the corners so you can watch the game! They also have lottery keno you can play. Juke box too. Parking is on the street if you can find it. Dark and musky I would call it. lol Apparently it's been here over 15 years since the 60's?! That was probably the last time they upgraded the decor. lol Also, if you get here around 8:30pm or so it's quiet. It starts to pick up around 9:30pm and for sure by 10pm.

I visited this Karaoke Bar with some friends and the vibe there was just...off a bit. It was bustling and crowded, people were singing Karaoke and they had a nice queue. I guess maybe I was expecting more of a dance club vibe, but it seemed like the only people dancing were friends of the people choosing songs. Maybe it just wasn't my cup of tea so don't let my opinion stop you from checking them out.

I find it quite entertaining writing a review for this dive karaoke bar, we of course had a freakin blast but keep in mind it's a weird place. Small, dark, old fashioned, need updating and some tlc but who cares when your having so much fun. It matters who you come with, so plan on bringing your favorite people with you and let loose. There are some unique folks in there.. lol You'll have to find the song catalog by the d.j, then write your name down on the sheet of paper and hope that your called in the correct order - often there are irregularities in the order of registered singers!!! So hound the d.j if need be. The bar has pretty much everything so that's cool, and there's free self serve popcorn. You can bring in your own food or dessert. Lots of birthdays celebrated here as to my observation. Divey place indeed.

I can honestly say that we've never had bad service. After reading some of the reviews, I guess we've been pretty fortunate because our experiences have always been positive. I actually appreciate the security team for helping ensure everyone stays safe, and they've always been friendly and professional with us. The bar has plenty to enjoy, including a pool table, fireplaces, and various games. The bartenders are organized and efficient. Don't expect a lot of engagement, as they're typically very busy, especially when the place gets crowded. Tonight, we had no problem finding a seat, and other guests were very accommodating about sharing space. Overall, it was a great night and a wonderful way to wrap up our evening in Santa Monica. Tips: It can get noisy, but hey go in with that expectation and you'll be fine. Expect the ladies restroom to have a line, It's a 2 stall. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and even without a reservation, they were able to seat us right away. Definitely 5 stars for service and not being rude, but friendly and attentive even at a busy time (World Cup was on tv!). I heard alllll about the happy hour specials so I was stoked when we were able to get the best outdoor seating and the happy hour was going on until 7pm he said. So naturally, ordered a bunch of things to try. Unfortunately, that was a solid 3 stars for me. It was just fine. I was actually bummed because I was so excited to try the menu items. They were okay. Ordered sliders (kinda dry and without flavor), Parmesan fries (seasoning was there but not very flavorful and the sauce was bland, the krab rangoons resembled egg rolls (that was new!) and fish tacos were meh. My friend ordered the chicken and it came with fries (the dish not happy hour selection) and that looks more substantial but maybe not worth $32. The drink was sweet (pink lady). Outdoor vibes were cool and def a great spot at the end of 3rd street but probably wouldn't come here for the food. Again, indoor (big tv!!) and outdoor set up was awesome, but food is just okay. Great for large groups but make a reservation!

Most of the bars are dive bars in downtown Santa Monica, and parking is quite accessible for this place. So I'd recommend for that reason. In terms of the drinks, I'm a huge fan of cocktail but I would say their menu selections are a bit limited. Nothing in the signature cocktail looks interesting to me, so I had the bartender make a classic cocktail instead. He's very attentive and friendly, didn't take forever to get a drink either, no attitude. Drinks aren't watered down either. Nice! You come here to grab quick drinks when you don't feel like being at a loud dive bar in the area, it's in a hotel but not too upscale, no strict dress code. Music is not loud and they have couches and booth if bar table if not your thing, you don't have to yell or pretend you hear everything to hold a conversation here (lol). ** Keep in mind 20% gratuity is automatically included in bill, it's my first time here. But I think I've other spots I'd prefer to be in, even at Santa Monica. Wouldn't be self-motivated to come back because there are better places that specialises mixology, and there are also better upscale hotel bars to be at. But if you're around the area it's a great intimate bar for date night that's not overly pricey. Wouldn't travel all the way to here just for this (if you know what I mean).

The music did make an already loud restaurant even harder to hear anything so that wasn't ideal but the music was good so there was that! This is definitely a good spot for a large group -- we had about 15 people for a business dinner. We arrived I think close to when they were just open or at least just getting busy so it took the servers a minute to get in their groove but once they did it was very good and they were very attentive. The food was pretty good -- not amazing and I didn't pay but I am sure it was standard LA pricing -- expensive. What stood out in the food: The Cesar salad, the ratatouille was beautiful but I can't remember the taste, and the mille feuille were stand outs -- but to be honest I can't remember anything else about the dinner. I would say it is a good Santa Monica experience with pretty good food -- expensive but consistent with the area. It does have a good Cali vibe so a good spot to bring people from out of town.

The speakeasy is unique and even serves full menu of great food! Aesthetic & Ambiance: 9.5/10 - it was very prohibition themed and the menus being price/luggage tags was very fun. Came on a saturday night at 6:30 reservation and it was very quiet with us being the only table most of the evening. The outside restaurant has live bands which can be a little loud. I first came here as part of our stay at the hotel, and it has a surprisingly lively atmosphere throughout the day. There are quite a lot of people working on laptops or studying, which gives it more of a community café feel than a typical hotel restaurant. Parking is valet only at the hotel and costs $22 for up to 2 hours, which is steep. However, street parking nearby is metered and not too difficult to find if you're willing to walk a few minutes. The food is definitely on the expensive side, but the quality is generally very good. The standouts were the Proper Breakfast, acai bowl, shakshuka plate, and breakfast burrito. These felt thoughtfully prepared and satisfying. The salmon bagel was just okay and didn't quite justify the price. I also had a smoothie that was very good, but at $20, it felt hard to fully justify ordering again. I was especially interested in trying their Cowboy Cold Foam coffee, but unfortunately it wasn't available during our visit. We also ordered takeout for dinner, and that experience was strong overall. The mushrooms and onion soup dip was excellent and one of the highlights. The Caesar salad and vodka pasta were decent but not particularly memorable. Overall, La Palma delivers a great atmosphere, strong breakfast options, and high-quality food, though pricing is definitely premium across the board. It's worth visiting, especially if you're staying at the Proper Hotel or want a beautiful place to relax, work, or enjoy a leisurely breakfast.
