I have tried several accupuncture places. I found 2 that helped me,and I alternate between them. The Accupuncturist here is more available emotionally and I like that. The other Accupuncturist is concerned but is there to get the job done. So far I am able to alternate weeks and that works for me. So, lay back and enjoy. Michele is very affordable and her treatments are effective! She had a sliding scale from $25-45 per session which is amazing. I very much enjoy her treatments as I leave feeling stress free and centered. It's wonderful to be able to go in and have her work on certain concerns or areas in the body that need work and really feel relief. As I walked in for the first time, I was getting all my paperwork from the front desk receptionist. She was welcoming and pleasant. As I was about to walk to the couch to fill out new customer forms, I see a woman to my left marching towards me. I was then approached by Michele, who I'd never met, posture her body immediately in front of me. She began wailing her arms and demanding I put a mask on. She made a big scene and then switched personalities to immediately sit down to chat with a customer on the couch. I was so shocked by her aggressive approach. The receptionist immediately began to apologize for Michele's behavior and promised me that Michele was really good at acupuncture. I was mostly shocked and only said, I think I'm going to leave. There's construction all around this location and no parking close by. I was very disappointed that someone I thought would be a professional, was indeed far from one. read more

I usually can go to any acupuncturist and feel great afterward. Unfortunately my experience was not the best. I felt the owner was inattentive to me and distracted. She didn't seem to be interested in my concerns pre treatment, and I began to feel extremely panicked when she wasn't noticing me waving my hands around when I was wanting to have my needles out. I felt trapped. When she did notice me, only due to another patient arriving, I think she could read my discomfort and instead of addressing it she seemed to hide from it, she didn't say a word to me as I left, no thank you, no goodbye. She took my cash and I gave it a moment to see if she would at-least say to have a good day and no, she just clearly wanted me to leave. I really wanted to like it here and am pretty understanding of mistakes but I just felt like she didn't care. read more

Great place, Michele is very charming. An institution like the Gathering Point is an important part of the community. Acupuncture is a technique empirically demonstrated by considerable scientific research to be effective in treating many conditions. Anyone doubting this should look at some scientific publications online. Many physicians recommended this modality of treatment for me, but I didn't live in a place with a community acupuncture establishment at the time. This pay-what-you-can model helps those who are suffering and is a great establishment of charity well worth your support. I just returned to Tucson and thought I would try a different community acupuncture place. I used the Groupon Deal for three visits. The first visit, Michelle was thorough and went over my issues. When I got in the treatment room, it was the typical community style, which doesn't bother me. What did bother me is the other patients talking to Michelle after their visit. Why would you talk to your clients when others are trying to rest? Second time, same thing and Michelle let a child go back with his mother. He was intentionally trying to wait people up by kicking something. The person at the front was training someone and you could hear everything. Not to mention, the massage table was rock hard. My 3rd and last visit was yesterday. I was happy to see not many people were there. I did get a table in the far back and it was one of the more comfortable tables. I thought I was finally going to get to sleep like I always have during treatments. Didn't happen. There was so much noise in the back, door opening and shutting and chatting. And mid way the fan was turned off and the AC was not even touching me. There is also a very loud business next door and on the corner if Grant and Campbell, so every time someone opens the door you can hear the heavy traffic. As for the acupuncture itself, it does wonders for me. But, I like to feel rested and comfortable. That didn't happen. read more

Michelle is very kind, patient, understanding & thorough. I have been dealing with a myriad of issues & opted for a natural/holistic approach vs. modern medicine. It turned out to be a good decision! Two simple things could have improved my experience: 1. A table with padding where it counts. 2. A check-in halfway through the treatment. My experience with Michele was kind of tragically hilarious. I came in with a LOT going on and I don't live around Tucson so I was not expecting to get everything taken care of in one session. I talked rapidly with Michele about my chronic illnesses and the acute problems I came in for: recovery form a car accident, and intense joint and abdominal pain. She nodded and asked just one or two questions and got me set up on a table. I wasn't exactly ready for the first few needles and I wasn't deeply impressed by her technique. I also noticed the table felt a little funny but I thought of course I'd settle in and get comfortable. Nope. There was no padding under my hips: my very badly aching hips. I could feel the bones of my pelvis pressing into this hard, uneven surface. I had never been to this place before and didn't know what to expect or how to get a hold of Michele. I tried to tough it out for a while but after about 8 or 10 minutes, I was in agony... I really can't take pressure on my pelvis and I couldn't shuffle myself around to get comfy. I sat up (full of needles) and moved the tiny pillow from under my head down to my lower back and under the top of my pelvis. All this was so painful because the needles were working their way in... and ultimately the pillow didn't help too much. This was the point at which I began laughing out loud at how much pain I was in. I couldn't figure out what else to do, so I just lay there looking up at the fluorescent lights with tears rolling down my cheeks. When Michele showed up, I immediately explained exactly what was going on. She removed the needles and asked me not to move (even though moving was what I desperately needed to do) and offered to stab my abdominal cramps. This wasn't helpful for the bone ache in my pelvis and I said "I need to get out of here". She seemed surprised that I sat up and started crying in earnest. I explained that it was just so frustrating to be unable to let the treatment work because I was in so much pain. She then hugged me which was so sweet but it was clear to me that she had no idea what was going on. Total communication failure. I ended up taking some burly painkillers after leaving and to be honest, I felt much better. I'm sure her treatment offered some help but wow...that was one of the worst acupuncture experiences I have ever had. I was surprised, actually, when she took my payment. Michele gets two stars instead of one because I could tell her heart was in the right place. read more

I would recommend The Gathering Point because of its super-low price point or central location even if the acupuncture was merely competent. But Michele is, in fact, a very thorough, kind and caring acupuncturist. Whatever issues I come in with (a lump I want removed with 'Surround the Dragon'), lower back pain, allergies, help with weight loss, she is immediately transfixed with resolving that problem - and her focus on patient issues continues to the next session. She is interested in seeing progress in her patients and remembers your issues. Amazing clinic! read more

I bought a groupon for The Gathering Point and was completely satisfied. Some of the needles cause fleeting pinch-like pain, but the pay off is worth it. My first visit, I left with less back pain from a recent car accident and non-existent anxiety. I had my second session today. When I walked in I was having pain in my side from a chronic illness. She put a needle right above it and the pain went from a stabbing pain to a weak, dull ache. Not only is it effective, but Michelle is quick, understanding and easy to talk to. She sees countless individuals and was still able to remember what my ailments are. I am not the type to be able to fall asleep outside of my bed, and I feel completely comfortable and fall asleep quickly. Before you know it, time is up! read more

Have been there twice and will try to go in at least once or twice a week. Michelle gets detailed as to where she is placing needles for what purposes, which I appreciate.
