This is one is tough to review. For its location, it probably deserves 5 stars but take the…read moreproduct and serve and place it in any major city and the rating would surely be much less. The beer menu is undoubtedly awesome even in a sea of awesome beer menus in northern VT. Given its proximity to hill farmstead, they get their share of beer connoisseurs here and no one walks away disappointed. Throw in the fact that they are kinda in the middle of nowhere and it seems impossible. Kudos to Parker pie for their beer procurement! The pizza this time was just OK. BBQ chicken had hardly any chicken but the crust was nice and crispy. My previous 3 visits felt like it wasn't quite as busy and the food came out better and hotter than this particular time. We went on a Thursday and it wasn't slamming but the back bar was pretty full and they had a parking attendant to help you get to a spot in the small lot. There was an open mic but no one stepped up while we were there. The back bar area is pretty tight. There is some outdoor seating as well. Everything was fairly clean and the staff were attentive and polite. In the end, I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars but am rounding up because the beer menu is so good. If you're in the area, it's definitely the place to be but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go there since it's a bit off the beaten path.

You'll see a general store - Parker Pie is the red building on the back side. It has lots of pluses. First, we enjoyed the open-mic night with live music on Thursdays from 6pm-9pm. Second, the pizza was OK but the salads were superb (the blue cheese was from Jasper Hill Farm in Greensboro, VT). Third, Hill Farmstead beers are on tap (which were very high quality). On the minus side, the "back bar" area had limited seating (it was quite crowded). Service was OK. You must order first and pre-pay at the front (giving your name and seating location), then wait for the staff to bring your pizza and salad to you. Be sure to pack your patience - it can take a while for the food to arrive if it's crowded!

We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Not bad at all!! Our server was energetic and accommodating. She cheerfully answered all our questions and honored our request to get a margherita pizza as an appetizer. The aforementioned pizza arrived in no time. It was good. Not the best ever, but still quite solid. The star of the culinary show was the salmon entree. Both my wife and I got it and we both loved it. It was a big piece of wood fired salmon and came with a nice assortment of roasted veggies. I'm talking real veggies--zucchini, broccoli, fingerling potatoes, the works. Neither one of us are big drinkers, but there are LOTS of microbrews on tap if you're into that kind of thing. The dining room was lively without being too noisy. Both of us enjoyed hanging out there. It would be a great place to have a beer and watch baseball on TV. Will definitely return the next time I'm in town.

The poutine was very good, but I'll grant you that it's maybe hard to get that wrong - but their gravy is on point! Service was great - got there around 5:40pm on a Wednesday, so the wait was non-existent and a table for 5 was easy to accommodate. Duncan was the server, who disclosed that he was new but you wouldn't know it from how he took orders and brought food out. Even threw him a curve by asking for the steak frites with an additional side of brussel sprouts, which he handled no problem - even though there weren't any sides I saw on the menu. Steak was medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and I think I mentioned the chimichurri but it deserves additional mention. Maybe you're wondering about beverages. The maple lemonade is great - it leans harder on the tart side and there are sweeter options around (Cliff House) but I love a lemonade that tastes... lemony. Pineapple cherry punch was also a hit - but that's secondhand hearsay, unlike my direct opinion on the chimichurri - which I would drink if I could. Definitely check this place out. The table near ours seemed to immensely enjoy their meal and also get great service from Duncan.

Was able to easily place an order online but you can also order at the counter. BYOB or bring your meal to Fiddlehead Brewery which shares the same wall. They can even "delivery" your pizza to fiddlehead for you. I had the seasonal Surf & Turf pizza - olive oil base, four cheese blend, scallops, bacon, parsley, lemon zest. I cannot say enough good things about this pizza. Crust was great, the pie itself was super flavorful, and cooked to perfection. If you enjoy scallops do yourself a favor and order this before summer is gone and it's off the menu!! They offer a huge variety of customizations, including GF crust which was appreciated for my spouse. Even if you don't care about the (great!) beer next door you can't go wrong ordering pizza here with endless options and delicious speciality pizzas!!

The BBQ style was tasty however, the rub and buffalo wings were not. As for their pizza, the sauce was thick and not very flavorful. The crust was crispy and had a nice texture. Despite my rating of 3 stars this place does a heavy take out service... so I'm sure it's a popular choice for many... just not my NY style pizza. The wait time for a Saturday 5pm order was about 2 hours.
