You simply won't find a better place to take your timepiece in for repair. I have been dealing with Norbert Zerbes (no, he's not German) for many decades. He is a master of his craft, honest and will always treat you fairly. He has over 300 Google reviews and all are five stars. That speaks for itself...

I was contemplating servicing my TAG Heuer Carrera as I haven't worn it for many years and when I asked where I should bring it to, everyone I talked to recommended me to go see The German Watchmaker. He's local, has a great reputation and faster than sending it to TAG. In my mind I was willing to spend $600+ for service, reconditioning and maybe purchase a leather strap. When I arrived I told Norbert what I was looking to do and within 10 mins I left with an Austrian leather strap that he put on for me and recommended not to service and recondition it. He could have easily taken my money but instead was honest and wanted what was best for my intentions. As I mainly wear my Rolex to work and Apple Watch for casual wear, this watch was just going to be used here and there to switch it up. Overall I'm very satisfied with the level of professionalism that he provided and would definitely recommend anyone to see him! One tip, if you plan to see him, he only takes cash or cheque.

Have not done any business with Norbert yet. He did give me the advice to where I can get help. A very honest and helpful person!

Norbert is the best in Vancouver hands down. I don't take my IWC or rolex watches any where else.

I live in Seattle, but there aren't many small independent watch/clock repair shops around where I live, and this shop sounded like a gem from the yelp reviews. And it was. I randomly walked in with 9 watches past 5 pm on Friday (one of them was a little more complicated), and Mr. Hiew told me they could be ready by noontime on Monday. Wow. I've walked into a pretty well-known jeweler (B*n Bri**es) by where I live, and they'd say, "We'll call you when it's ready" (which is like a week later) or sometimes even "We have to send this out." But no nonsense like that here. It's all business. Love it. I went back a little after lunchtime on Monday, and sure enough, they were ready and packaged, with detailed description of each watch written down. This man is dedicated to watches and clocks. He's even wearing a Renata mask. (I've never even seen a Renata mask. He must be a good customer.) In case you don't know (like one previous reviewer), Renata batteries are what's considered most reliable and long lasting. They're used in the likes of Rolex (Oysterquartz), Tag Heuer and Breitling. Renata batteries cost a little more, but if your shop uses them despite the cost, you know they care. I paid 15 CAD for 8 of the watches and 25 CAD for the more complicated one. I'm a happy camper. In Seattle they charge more and do less (they'd say things like, "...and waterproofing would be extra charge"). An unassuming shop that doesn't even have a sign outside, but has customers coming back? That's my kind of shop. I'll definitely come back when I'm in town.

He told me to come right over - had them ready to go while I waited no more than 10 minutes in his whimsical and curious little shop. For our tenth wedding anniversary, it was time for a ring upgrade. Coming from California, where we…read morehad been loyal customers to a single jeweller for years, it was time to find someone new in our new forever home. It started with some simple repairs, sort of a test. I gave them a broken necklace and an heirloom bracelet in need of repair. They were quick, communicative, and did quality work, so we moved forward with my custom rings. The process of designing my dream set was better than I hoped for! I made an appointment with Linda, the daughter of the family business, and omg I ADORE her! Every design detail and curveball I threw her way she met with a "yes, and!" Euroshank? Excellent choice. Mixed metals in 14k instead of the more expensive 18k? We love durability! Lab diamond and moissanite? We're not snobs, bring on the double-refractive sparkle! It all started with choosing my center stone. Linda guided me through their supplier's inventory in a super personal process and gave me plenty of time to choose "the one". Then, I said goodbye to my current 5-year anniversary band so the stones could be integrated. Once everything was measured, it was inputted in their system for a design render. They got the engagement ring spot-on on the first try, completely understanding my vision! We went through maybe 5 different versions of bands to perfectly complement it, tweaking to my description until it was perfect. Then, they let me try the wax model and see my diamond, which was a surprisingly emotional experience. Then, with my written approval, it was time to build it. There was a tiny hiccup in sourcing the marquise-shaped moissanite stones, so they offered lab diamonds at no additional cost. But I was happy to wait the short two weeks to have them custom cut. (They were so sweet to avoid inconveniencing me and were on TOP of the communication this whole time! Linda was happy to text quick updates, which was my preference over email.) Less than 3 months after my initial appointment, my dream rings were on my finger. I cannot stop staring at them, they are so exquisite! Anthony, Linda's brother, facilitated the handoff, and he is a delightful young man with the hands of a craftsman. He removed the remaining stone from my old ring with tremendous care, which I took home for a future project. Plus he gave me very fair credit on my bill for the gold in the old setting (I didn't want it). I told them, and I meant it, that they have a customer for life. Linda told me to come by for free cleaning and inspections any time, and I will certainly take them up on that and sing their praises to anyone who asks. P.S. they are very good about asking to validate your parking lol
