Excellent service! Best dog walking service in the area. This girl knows what she's doing and has experience with critters big and small.

She did not follow our instructions and it was a disaster. She needs to listen to the owners and not do things her way.

The cost was $54 for 2 nights, but we also asked if our pups nails could be clipped. They didn't clip but they also didn't apologize. I gave her $60 in cash and she said you don't want any change do you, and I said yes I do and you didn't clip my dogs nails, I also said maybe it can be credited to a second visit. They were very blasé when we brought the dog in, they ask for current shot records before we come in and when we gave it to them, there was really no reaction. And then when I picked her up, they all, but completely ignored me until I got my dog .. Overall, it was not a good experience. We've used this kennel many times before, but since the original owner passed away some years ago, the quality of their service has really gone down. And I don't know why it smells so horrible. I've been to other kennels and they don't stink like crap when you walk in. I worried about my dog, even though we only left her there for two nights.

The overall appearance is not pleasant, piles of trash, and supplies sitting around, untidy. The last straw was when I picked up my dog, he was covered in dry feces. My dog has not had an accident in over 5 years at home. When I asked what happened, the staff said, he had an accident in his kennel overnight and rolled in it. No attempt had been made to clean him or the kennel where he was being kept. Also found out from the staff that he was not allowed outside, unsure of the amount of time he was actually in the inside kennel without access to the run, or play yard. I have a large breed dog, who loves being outside, staff tried to tell me that my dog didn't want to be outside. I had given staff a new unwrapped toy and bags of unopened treats to give my dog during his stay, when I picked him up he hadn't been given any of the items I had given for him. It broke my heart to know that my dog had to endure this treatment for almost 2 weeks.

We don't understand, and we are having trouble believing the negative reviews on Yelp relating to…read moreDr. John Dodson. Surely, they are mistaken as the person they describe is not the Dr. Dodson we've come to know. My husband and I moved to Taneytown, MD, in 2016. We do feline rescue work, so we need an exceptionally good veterinarian who has affordable prices, is open long hours, and employs an outstanding support staff. After engaging the services of several unacceptable veterinarians in the local Maryland area, we tried the Gettysburg Animal Hospital. The Gettysburg Animal Hospital is owned by Dr. John Dodson, and he practices at it too along with five other highly skilled and talented veterinarians. Dr. Dodson has a wealth of experience and knowledge in treating both cats and dogs. We find him to be a kind man who truly cares about his clients and their pets. He often goes above and beyond treating our cats by explaining to us in great detail their medical ailments and how the prescribed therapy will help them. His practice is run efficiently, and he charges reasonable prices to his clients while offering top notch medical care. We've had the pleasure of Dr. Dodson and several of his veterinarians caring for our rescues these past three years. Based on our lifetime experiences with many veterinarians in several states, we find the Gettysburg Animal Hospital to be the best yet. We know we can count on Dr. Dodson and his staff to give us the best service possible and to keep our cats healthy. We want to thank Dr. Dodson for making this great practice available to the community, and we thank all of his experienced and compassionate veterinarians, technicians, and administrative staff for taking care of our rescued felines. We highly recommend this animal hospital.

I wanted to address some of the things the owner said to my husband and me yesterday…read more She implied that I was lying on Sammy's ( my Yorkie's) intake papers. I do take offense at this. I reread what I had written on the papers. I do not lie. The information was accurate. Sammy is a 5 1/2 pound - 1 1/2 year old Yorkie. The owner complained that Sammy was digging when left outside alone. (Yorkies like to dig in the dirt!) The owner commented that my puppy didn't like to be alone. On the paper I wrote he is very friendly. She was not at all sympathetic; that we had recently lost our beloved eight-year old Yorkie, Dundee, Sammy's best friend about a month ago.) Due to that, yes, I agreed with the owner, Sammy does not like to be alone. I do not find this as a fault, but rather an endearing quality. We were appalled that the owner would put a 5 1/2 pound Yorkie in an open field/pen with no covering without any regard to possible hawks. This is unacceptable. Has she not ever seen a hawk swoop down and pick up a small animal? It happens very quickly! So no, Sammy has never been left outside alone nor should he be. And finally the owner added that our puppy was not welcome back to Chateau Barkingham kennel. This was a bit beside the point because in our minds, we already had decided he would never be brought back to this establishment. The owner is not at all versed in dealing with puppies or very small dogs. When we returned home we talked to Sammy's Veterinarian. Our Vet was shocked at the "faults" found in Sammy. All ridiculous. Best of luck with your business, but don't expect any positive reviews to your kennel from us!

My poodle came back brushed (not sure how managed that one) and my very anxious dogs came back untraumatized by the whole thing. The kennels are pretty big, it is indoors and they are small rooms with TVs, seriously. But she gives them outdoor time to be dogs. It is very out in the middle of nowhere, but that just means it is quieter. The owner is way in to the dog whisperer school of dog obedience, I am clearly not...but if she wants to fight the inevitable, more power to her. Every time we go on vacation, this is the first call we make.
