JoyHouse coffee, belonging to Evangel Church in Bismarck. This is a big church with constant movement, but it's really such an enjoyable spot to hang out and get work done. The best thing about JoyHouse is that they have crepes!!! Crepes are something I absolutely cannot resist, and I was so excited to see they make them here. Also, I sat in the shop so long that the adorable girl working offered me a free tea! It was so nice and I would for sure come back here again. JoyHouse is rightly named!

The pastry case made it tough to choose, but we went with a Pumpkin Cheesecake Cruffin, Maple Pecan Blondie, BLT Croissant, and coffee. Everything was fresh and tasty. They also sell loaves of bread and other baked goods to take home. The staff was warm and polite, and even those working behind the counter who weren't serving us took a moment to say thanks for coming in. Will definitely be visiting again.

For a small restaurant, they also have an impressive wine selection. We started with the garlic bread, hot olives, and meatballs -- all of which were flavorful, balanced, and absolutely delicious. For entrées, our table had the breaded walleye, the Bolognese pasta, and the Porchetta. The walleye and Bolognese were outstanding, but unfortunately the Porchetta was a big letdown. The skin was chewy rather than crisp, with a thick layer of unrendered fat beneath it, and most concerning, it still had visible pig hair. I was expecting the classic combination of crackling skin, melting fat, and tender pork, but instead it was oddly undercooked on the outside, dry inside, and after biting into hair, I really lost my appetite for it. We finished with tiramisu and a torte, and both desserts were excellent -- a strong way to end the meal. Overall, Anima Cucina has a lot going for it: charming atmosphere, friendly staff, great starters, and standout entrées (other than the Porchetta). When I was at city brew the person says they are out of milk and I'm like how like you're out of…read moremilk how can you be out of milk? You're a coffee shop he makes drinks with milk. Then she says I have oat milk. No thank you. There's a grocery store right across the street. Why can't you go over there and she said she doesn't want to use her own money and city brew wouldn't let them have a store card to go get milk if they ran out so then she gave me two coupons that were half off because she didn't have a free drink. She couldn't refund me my money I paid for a drink I didn't get and then the next day they closed so I never even got to use my coupon
