This local coffee stop is located right across the street from my office, so no excuse not to try them out. Glad I did. The interior is cozy. Very midwestern home in its vibe with a fireplace and lots of natural color. The menu has all the coffee shop staples, but their array of syrup (both regular and sugar-free) options was extensive. Not only that, but they also offer a ton of different types of tea. Service was quick and friendly, the coffee was smooth and tasty. My husband and I stumbled upon Boneshaker Coffee as we were traveling. The food, service, coffee, and environment were all great!

Stopped into Boneshaker on a road trip west with my partner. She had read that they had a great chai, and on this road trip we are trying chais across the country and rating them for fun. We went in and ordered a 16oz soy chai to share. I used the bathroom while the barista made the drink, and it was clean, pleasant, and a single-stall room with a sink included (marked "women" or "men"). The barista was out of soy milk and so made the drink with almond milk after checking with us. There were many indoor tables and the atmosphere seemed cozy, with an outdoor picnic table near the entrance and a spacious parking lot for just this coffee shop. Boneshaker boasts over 70 specialty drinks, from "coconut cream pie" to "caramel apple". I was tempted to get something else in addition, but we stuck with sharing a medium chai. On to the chai: hands-down the best chai on this entire trip so far (from Virginia). Creamy, with a special flavor underneath that was delicious. Really loved it. One suggestion: it would be great to have gender-neutral bathrooms (just need to change the signs) and use gender-neutral language. I stopped by here this past Saturday morning with my wife and her parents for our morning coffee. We decided to go to boneshakers because it happened to be right across the road from our hotel. Since we were headed out afterwards we drove on over and then headed in. The inside of this place was actually quite large and nice looking. There was ample seating of both the comfortable kind as well as your normal table and chairs as well as a fireplace. The area to order had a couple of display cases with interesting looking food on it and then there was an area where they made your coffee. On this morning I decided to go with what they called a boneshaker as even the chalkboards said that's what they were named after. It consisted of a drip coffee with a shot of Espresso in it. After giving it the appropriate time to cool down, I tried a bit of it. As expected it was quite the strong coffee but I didn't really enjoy the flavor of it. I guess that was probably from whatever drip coffee that they used but I couldn't be sure. While there wasn't anything wrong with it per se, I don't think that I would order it again although I know everyone's palettes are different. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. While I didn't exactly care for the coffee that I received here the baristas were nice and it seemed like a nice place to sit and enjoy your coffee. read more

I love it when I find a terrific coffee place far from home but I hate also because I won't get to frequent it! This darling place was right by our hotel, lucky us! They had delicious hot vanilla lattes and refreshing caramel chocolate iced coffee. Plus I tried a chocolate chip cookie just to let you fellow Yelpers know how yummy it was. Coffee loving couple turned first time visitors - stopping in to check out this listing of the top 10 coolest coffee shops in North Dakota. Summary: Warm and welcoming decor. Overcrowded. A place for large groups of family generations to loiter. Expect to hear politics, religion, and crying children. Not modern, no place to plug in to work/study. This is a place to unplug. Huge drink selection - you don't have to be creative- they do flavor combos for you. Runs a bit sweet. Upon entering, it was clear that this isn't a place people run in for coffee and then leave. It's a place where large families from infant to elderly lounge about for long periods of time to chat, without food or drink to be seen. They also appear to come in waves. Example: the table next to us had an elderly couple already sipping coffee when we came in. They finished and tossed the cups, then returned to their seats. About 10min later a younger couple with a baby showed up and joined them, without ordering anything. 5 people occupying the table, none of them having do much as an empty cup. 2 areas set up in living room style reflected the same scene - 6 couches full of people talking with neither food nor drinks... that makes for a very full establishment with no patronage. It was like peering into a neighbors window after a family dinner. Strange and uncomfortable. The volume of voices can be overwhelming. You hear multiple conversations. The music is playing so quietly that you may not even notice it. Had it not been for a startling noise resulting in a collective gasp creating a moment of silence, I'd never have known there was a whisper of music. Seating is also bulky, which puts you close to your neighbor. The colors are warm and welcoming. While the colors are welcoming, the staff are not. They weren't rude, but were cold and stand-offish. We browsed the drink menus on the counter, very extensive. Since we were first timers we waved a few people around. At last we selected and ordered. I ordered the :choc-orange:. The gal just stared. I said it a different way "choco-orange?" Blank look. "Maybe I'm saying it wrong?" Gal picks up the spin wheel of flavors and looks at it. (Still not a word since my first attempt at ordering) I say "chocolate and orange" - she looks up and back down without a word or gesture. I go get the menu I was looking at, walk back over and point to what I ordered. "Chocorange" with the description "chocolate and mandarin orange" - the hubs orders honey almond - she taps away and tells me $9.25. I pay, she walks away. Not the best reception or service. Drinks come up hot. I can taste chocolate and orange in mine. No burnt or bitter flavors. The hubs likes his. I tried it and I'd certainly say that the honey flavor was front and center. Though Boneshaker is quite large for a coffee shop with ample seating, it is really not a good place to study. Very difficult to find an outlet if you need to plug a laptop in. Most of the people in this place are visiting and chatting so it tends to get pretty loud as well. This might be ok if you're going to a socialize but isn't great for getting work done.The furniture and decor are cozy but somewhat dated. Furthermore, while I've never been overly impressed with their drinks, most recently I ordered a cold brew coffee, which was over iced and essentially tasted like coffee flavored water. Not to mention at nearly $5 it was overpriced in my opinion. Not sure that I'd be back. read more

Wasn't the worst coffee I've ever had, but it also wasn't good coffee. I ordered an iced Boneshaker with White Chocolate and the espresso was burnt and bitter. Had to add quite a bit of cream to try to smooth it out. It was a little watered down as well. My wife got an iced Mocha and it was watery (how?) and not creamy at all. Didn't even look like they used milk to make it. It was really dark and she said it was overly bitter. Then the caramel roll was soggy and tasted kind of cheap. If the atmosphere had been better we might have enjoyed our time more, but the tables were too close together and it felt very dated and out of touch. This is a great place. Awesome baristas who made me a mean Coco Moco, a delicious, warm, coconut-chocolate coffee. I'm going to say mounds bar with caffeine - delicious. I also ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese, and failed to notice it was "buy a special coffee, get a cinnamon roll free" day. Next time I will pay attention to the flashing board, it seems like they run daily specials. The atmosphere was great and quite busy on a Saturday around noonish. So the menu (found here http://www.boneshakercoffee.com/menu/) says that a Caramel Big Wheel is - Rich espresso with gourmet caramel, topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle to satisfy your sweet tooth! I uploaded a picture of what was delivered to my office this morning. I do LOVE that they deliver, even with the $5 fee... which is redic and makes people NOT want to tip. I still order when the office group orders because they need at least 6 drinks to get someone to deliver it and what not. NEVER AGAIN Last time they FORGOT my caramel roll and were quick to make apologies but this wasn't the first time they messed up an order, and it wont be the last. I can get better drinks made with less calories at Starbucks that will be made RIGHT. And last time I checked if the weather is really bad I can always just do the drive thru in less than 5 minutes. While I've never experienced the Boneshaker drive thru a coworker told me its worth it to have them deliver because the drive thru takes at least ten minutes. If you're getting together with a couple of friends to catch up I'm sure you'll love hanging out at their location. but as far as getting a drink delivered. DON'T DO IT. read more

Friendly service, delicious coffee and their Asiago bagel was incredible. I tried the chipotle cream cheese and was thrilled with the taste and that it was hot enough to help me breathe that morning! The only downside was I forgot to ask for a knife to spread my cream cheese and there wasn't one in the bag. The seating area is comfy and inviting. They have really good coffee that rivals Starbucks. I just wish they provided hand sanitizer. There is no hand sanitizer anywhere to be seen. I finally asked and they pulled out a small bottle from behind the counter. The couch areas are closed off which I understand but the high top tables are hard on my back. The barista with short hair and tattoos was not very friendly and I just felt like I was a $5 coffee to her and not a person. They used to be so friendly there. Boneshaker is absolutely splendid. The first thing u notice when u walk in is the peacefullness of the sitting area. Immediately u are transported away from the hustle and bustle of the day to a world where all that can melt away. The comfortable couches and chairs provide a great place to chat with family and friends and adds a homey touch to the place. The coffee here is absolutely wonderful. It is the best coffee I have had so far and there are plenty of flavored coffees, smoothies, cappucinos, lattes, and small snacks to choose from. One of my favorites is the mixed berry smoothy, which is a heathier choice from the sugar ladened others, that includes the sports drink FRS. I've driven past quite a few times but it has never clicked to me to stop in - but my best friend raved so I had to go check it out this morning. I love the atmosphere. It was quiet for a Friday morning and I loved the seating. I definitely plan on coming to this place when I get-together with friends! I love that they have almond milk and soy milk! That's definitely impressive. The coffee was really great too. I just felt like the service was a little cold (just like Sarah H. had reviewed). I had mentioned that I had no idea what I wanted because I had never been there and the barista just said okay, and walked away. Wanted so much to support this locally owned place; but the service was abrupt (in their defense, it was raining and they were slammed both inside and at the drive up) and the coffee just wasn't good.
