Stayed in OKC while my husband ran the memorial marathon, and our hotel was just a couple blocks from Gilded Acorn. Had to stop back in with the fam to see if the treats were as good as I remembered. They were! Ended up coming every morning and trying something new each time. Now I can honestly say from experience that the croissants, cruffins, macarons, and avocado toast are all just as delicious as the tarts! Such a cute little coffee shop! I work downtown and Gilded Acorn is within walking distance so when I need an afternoon pick me up, this is one of my go to coffee shops. Their Matcha Lattes and Coffee Lattes are really good and their pastry selection is incredible. You will not be disappointed with anything you try. Service is also great. I love the ambiance here. The 2 girls working that day were nice and patient. It was hard to decide which pastry to go with since they have a good selection of yummy looking things. I have been wanting to try The Gilded Acorn for months, so I was so happy to meet a friend here for lunch this week. The restaurant is located in the iconic First National building, but has an entrance from the street as well. It's clean and bright inside with several tables spread out to allow you plenty of room. The servers greeted us and offered information about their menu items. I ordered the quiche, and I definitely recommend it. I was a little disappointed with my hot chocolate; it was pretty to look at, but not very hot and very chocolate syrupy. It basically tasted like chocolate milk. I will pass on that next time. The pastry display case was gorgeous, and anyone would have a hard time deciding between all the options. I took several items home for my family to enjoy. The chocolate cruffin was really good, but the macarons weren't fresh, so that was disappointing. The chocolate croissant was just ok. So basically the pastries looked better than they tasted in my opinion. I would definitely try this place again though. read more

They have excellent coffee, tea, pastries and lunch items such as sandwiches and salads. This was also where a scene from Lee Isaac Chung's Twisters was shot, doubling as "New York." (They also used a nearby OKC street corner and had to make it look dirtier and older to closer resemble NYC). The teatime session you can have here is pretty awesome, and they serve things like macaroons and tea sandwiches. This time I went here I got the chai latte (excellent) as well as a single scoop of the peppermint flavored gelato. Interior ambience also spacious and classy, like something from the Jazz Age (maybe a deliberate theme). Also a concept from Chef Andrew Black, whose Perle Mesta is nearby. The experience: We stumbled upon this place by chance - and thankful we did! We were staying at the Colcord Hotel and this is a quick two block walk down the street. We had a fairly large lunch played so wanted to keep it light. Originally, we were just thinking of splitting a pastry and getting a coffee to go, however, our eyes got the best of us. One look at the menu and I knew I had to try something. On the menu: my husband still wanted a pastry as they are famous for their cruffins. I snuck a quick bite of the jelly/cream cheese filled pastry because it was just too good. We were then served our Prime Benedict croissant which we split half and half. This was a very healthy portion so filled us both up just enough. Topped with two poached eggs smothered in hollandaise and a side of seasoned potatoes. The drink order: The maple bourbon latte of my dreams. Perfectly sweet and bitter. I want to know how this was made so I can replicate it on my own at home. The atmosphere: think Paris x London collaboration. It definitely has inspiration from a London with the high tea and champagne emphasis. Paris comes through in the overall design of the store front and their variety of delicious pastries. We didn't have the eclair, but wow did it look like it was straight from a French patisserie. Service: our server seemed to take so much pride in working at this establishment. She shared with us the history and we learned the chef had been awarded one of the highest honors for his work in OKC. He trained in Paris and brought his talents to the Midwest city - opening three different restaurants. read more

My husband and I had a date day in the city and decided to try the Gilded Acorn. Our first impression was that the place is sooooo aesthetically pleasing. I am a fan of dark green and the cafe just had a regal look to it with the color choices and decor. You order up front like most cafes and get to see a lovely display of desserts while doing so. The premiere items were not available and we had been looking forward to trying the caviar toast. We ordered the gilded salad, the egg salad sandwich, a London fog and a champagne cosmo. The salad was SO good! Definitely not healthy because of all the bacon AND the bacon vinaigrette but it was absolutely delicious. The egg salad sandwich was very fresh, light, and the perfect meal for lunch. The strawberry & arugula salad that came with the egg salad sandwich was absolutely delish. I normally don't like blue cheese but it complimented this side salad well. The London fog was good, not really to my own liking but my husband enjoyed it. My champagne cosmo was very tasty! Maybe a little unconventional and too much for lunch but I wanted to try it and it was good. One caveat is that everything is very expensive for a cafe, but for the upscale vibe that the Gilded Acorn is portraying it makes sense. read more

I guess I'm going to be the fly in the ointment. If possible, I'd go 3.5 stars. It's a nice place to eat - maybe even a bit above average - but I can't help but feel a lot of these 5-star reviews are based on the new and cool factor. I get the feeling the chef is trying to be careful. Everything is good, but they seem to be avoiding a lot of flavor in anything. I had the Champagne Poached Chicken Sandwich while my two friends had the soup and quiche. We also ordered an almond croissant, a key lime tart and tiramisu. The chicken sandwich was fine, but kind of one-note. I couldn't taste the carmelized apple at all. Maybe it's passé, but fig, apricot or plum would have been better choices. My friends enjoyed butternut soup, but the crust on the quiche was tough. The arugula salad that came with my sandwich was nice. Of the three pastries, the key lime tart was the best. It is a sweet key lime. I really wish someone in OKC would actually make a tart Kermit's-like key lime. The tiramisu was good, but it had nearly no coffee flavor. The almond croissant was a mess (see photo). The croissant itself was nice and flaky on the ends like it should be. The rest of the croissant was covered with a grainy cream that had only the slightest hint of almond. Maybe they're trying for finesse over flavor. If so, it comes across as half-hearted. It's a shame because the staff is so nice and it's a neat, clean little spot. Portions are good for the price. I do think if they are not offering the things in the premier part of the menu after three months, they should take it off. Definitely try it out. Go grab a coffee and pastry. The Gilded Acorn is a nice place to eat, but don't expect to be wowed. read more

An absolute Parisian dream cafe in downtown OKC!! I loooove the aesthetic of the place - everything about it from the chairs down to the tile floors were so gorgeous. I came by here in the morning, and the place had plenty of pastries to choose from. You're in absolute pastry heaven when you are here. They have sweets than savory, but we went for sweet this time and got some eclairs and a latte. The chocolate eclaire was perfect, not too sweet and super chocolatey! The dulce de leche one was good too, and so was the coffee. The people there were super friendly and kind. Patisserie, cafe, and tea room, owned by James Beard Award winning chef, Andrew Black. They are open daily for breakfast and lunch, and offer High Tea and Cheese & Cava experiences. The interior is a beautiful modern rendition of art deco, and filled with natural light. I loved their "High Tea" which is just $45 per person, and must be booked at least 2 days in advance. The experience includes two teas of your choice, a tiered tray of bite-sized sandwiches, and desserts like macarons, eclair, and profiteroles. I opted for the English Breakfast and Iced Moroccan Mint, both of which were full bodied and delicious with the food. During my week in OKC, I also came here a few times just for coffee and a pastry. The staff were genuinely kind, the espresso always perfectly pulled, and the pastries high quality. My favorite was their "Chocolate Mouse", a rich, fudgey chocolate cake, enrobed in chocolate ganache. Recommended. read more

Mixed feelings about this place I want to give 4 stars. It's super cute, beautiful pasteries, delicious gelato, and luxurious but the staff seem cold I must say. I like going with friends so I don't have to focus on the treatment by the staff which seems unfeeling. Maybe they have to be that way because they don't expect customers to be friendly which I might assume could be the case considering their clientele. We did get a free sandwich the last time we went there because the kitchen accidentally must have made an extra so if we keep getting free food I'll have to up my stars. It's a bit expensive as I well but again that's expected from a fancy place like that. The coffee I got was a good price though actually quite cheap I was surprised and it was also good. My style is a bit more clarity coffee, a bit quieter more business and less Parisian snooty booty. Not sure what the allure is. read more

The first time I came here, I came with a group of four friends including myself and we reserved High Tea. I emailed Matt, one of the employees who customized our experience by letting us choose cold tea and 1 hot tea. WE chose the spicy chai black tea for the hot option and ginger peach black tea for the cold. The High tea also included tea sandwiches, macarons, and other small pastries. We ordered champagne for an extra cost and enjoyed that as part of our High Tea experience. I came here another time with a group of 4 friends from work and we had breakfast after the Outpace Cancer Race. I ordered a Matcha Latte - which was delicious! and also the Lox & Bagel. Everything was amazing and service great. I love the Tiffany's vibes with wrapped boxes featured in the window and a color theme of elegant green and gold throughout. The staff was friendly & explained that the kitchen was closed on Sundays but there were pastries, sweets & coffee to order. The decor & tableware were so cute & nostalgic. I ordered a caramelizer espresso & a salted caramel cupcake, while my friend ordered the chocolate hazelnut espresso & a carrot cake. They were good, but we were still so bummed about the kitchen being closed. While we were there, I made a brunch reservation at tellers so we waited there until the reservation time. While we waited many people came in we're told the kitchen was closed & promptly left. We really hope to catch the kitchen open one day but definitely make sure to go Monday thru Saturday if you do want to try the food. read more

I am so excited to say OKC finally has a pastry, champagne, and lunch area downtown! This spot is perfect for folks who either work in the area OR friends and family who are out celebrating. They have a large array of pastries to choose from, all look very delicious. I decided to try the almond croissant which was what I needed. They also have a nice selection of lattes, espressos, and hot beverages. I tried their lavender latte which was yummy. I was meeting a friend so found a spot to enjoy my dessert before lunch (lol). I had a chicken sand which and they had the French dip. Both of us we're very happy with our choice. Mine came with a side salad which I was sure to eat first after having chowed down on the croissant. I love this concept, the aesthetics are everything but the food is even better. My daughter took my mother and me to tea, and we were all extremely underwhelmed with the entire experience. Our server was unfriendly and seemed put out to even bring plates to our table. He was definitely more interested in spraying down the table tops nearby which was definitely unappealing while trying to enjoy our experience. The pastries and sandwiches were fine, certainly not exceptional and the number served were adequate. However, the amount of tea we received was laughable. Our server told us that the tea service included 1 small pot of hot tea (that did not even fill our three tea cups) and one small carafe of iced tea that only filled our glasses because the large amount of ice in them. When we ordered and paid for an extra pot of tea, he took the liberty of adding a gratuity! Wow! Gilded Acorn has the vibe of an upscale Starbucks, definitely not the atmosphere one would expect for tea service. The table next to us, and it was very CLOSE, had two people who were working on their laptops. So, if you decide to take tea here, you should expect to be surrounded by screens and a work vibe. When my daughter told us that she had prepaid for the tea and gratuity and it was $60 per person, we agreed wholeheartedly that it was definitely NOT a good value and won't go back. Honestly underwhelmed from my first visit here. I may go back to get a coffee and pastry if I'm in the area but wouldn't make a special trip here even for that.
