My mother has been a loyal customer of Stewart's Ace Hardware in Clinton for over 7 years. She…read morerecently purchased a $900 Weber natural gas grill (Spirit S-425), believing it was fully stainless steel like her previous Genesis model. There was no floor model to inspect, and she trusted the store's description and history. When the grill arrived, it had only stainless trim, no wheels, and was clearly not the heavy-duty model she expected. She declined delivery politely and even offered to pay the price difference or use gift cards to upgrade to the better model. They refused. Instead of working with her, they issued a refund--and then left her a voicemail telling her never to shop there again. Their own voicemail admitted it was a "snafu" and they "don't normally sell natural gas grills," but punished her for not accepting a downgrade. This wasn't about being difficult. It was about being fair. After over 7 years of loyalty, this was their response. If this is how they treat long-time customers, I encourage others to think twice before shopping here.

They said no that I had to come in, order and wait in line. Poor customer service! I do this often and other stores accommodate. Disappointed on several fronts…read more We purchased an overpriced ($1880) Bertch bathroom vanity cabinet. The unit arrived with several significant manufacturing defects. I was told that a replacement unit would take at least six weeks to arrive. Not choosing to wait I repaired the defects and had to negotiate a partial refund directly with the manufacturer. Lesson learned: Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's well made. On two occasions I picked up multiple products at the loading dock. After an exhaustive one-by-one check I found that several items on the delivery ticket were not in fact provided. Lesson learned: Check everything carefully or you will make multiple trips back to the store. Most disappointing, we purchased an undermount sink for the vanity top. After a lengthy discussion with the sales rep. regarding the exact size we wanted, the sink was delivered to us and we sent it to the granite fabricator. When the countertop was delivered and the sink installed, we learned that the sink was smaller than the unit we discussed and selected. We had to purchase a new sink and fabricate a second countertop for $870. Plimpton accepted zero responsibility for the error and would not even refund the $151 for the incorrect unused sink because we did not have the original packaging. (This is after spending more than $12,000 on bathroom fixtures.) Lesson learned: Do not trust that what you communicated and selected will be accurately ordered and delivered. Check everything carefully. We will not use Plimpton for our remaining fixtures, and for the reasons above we do not recommend them to prospective customers.

Now my door is older and the hardware is pretty much custom to the door. Joe called Harvey and got me the exact replacement that no one AND I MEAN NO ONE could find. He won me over just with that his patience in dealing with me was outstanding. No one can deal with me but Rings End just won a lifelong customer just by the way they helped me and were bound and determined to help anyway possible and they did. They have a nice variety of quilting fabrics that other shops in the area do not carry, which is nice for those of us who prefer modern fabrics and pattern designs.
