I'm visiting from Washington, DC, and wanted to treat myself, my mom, and my sister to a girls' self-care day. This wasn't a random pick. My sister has been to Luxx several times before and has always had good experiences, so she suggested we spend the day here together. I'm so glad she did. We arrived later in the evening and were told there would be about a 40-minute wait. Normally that might be frustrating, but David, who was managing the front desk (and honestly seemed to be the heartbeat of the salon), immediately greeted us, explained the wait time, and kept everyone informed. That simple communication made all the difference. We'd much rather know what to expect than be left wondering. While we waited, we enjoyed complimentary mimosas with a choice of orange juice or strawberry lemonade, along with snacks. Let me just say...the strawberry lemonade mimosa deserves its own five-star review! All three of us chose it, and thanks to David, our glasses never stayed empty for long. His hospitality, professionalism, and attentiveness truly set the tone for the entire visit. One thing we immediately noticed was how peaceful the salon felt. There wasn't a lot of loud conversation or unnecessary commotion. The technicians were focused on their clients, and guests were relaxing with their drinks, watching television, or quietly enjoying their own space. It felt like a genuine self-care experience rather than a rushed appointment. I typically wear Gel-X nails, which they don't offer, so I had my Gel-X soaked off and opted for a nude dip powder full set instead. Lynn absolutely understood the assignment. My nails are beautifully shaped, clean, natural-looking, and exactly what I envisioned. My sister also had a full set done by Lynn, and her nails turned out just as beautiful. We both left extremely happy. Daisy took care of my pedicure and was wonderful. She even noticed one of my toenails had smudged after I moved over for my manicure and fixed it immediately without hesitation. Unfortunately, that same nail ended up getting smudged again later, but that certainly wasn't due to anything Daisy did. She was attentive, patient, and thorough throughout the service. My mom had a fill-in with Eric and a relaxing pedicure with Candy, and she couldn't stop talking about how much she enjoyed both services. Seeing all three of us leave smiling made the day even more special. When I looked up the establishment on here I noticed there was only one Yelp review and it was a one-star review. I'll admit, I paused for a moment because reviews matter. Thankfully, my sister's recommendation was a GREAT one. Based on our experience, it's hard to believe we visited the same salon. Every business can have an off day, and perhaps that's what happened during that person's visit. All I can speak to is our experience, and from start to finish, it was exceptional. A special thank-you to David. Great customer service isn't just about checking people in--it's about creating an experience. He kept everything running smoothly, communicated clearly, made sure guests felt welcomed, and somehow managed to keep the strawberry lemonade mimosas flowing with a smile the entire time. He deserves to be recognized because he truly elevated our visit. We'll absolutely be back before I head home to Washington, DC. Luxx gave the three of us exactly what we were looking for: quality work, a relaxing atmosphere, genuine hospitality, and a memorable girls' day together. When I made the appointment, I asked if she was experienced with ethnic hair. I was told yes, she was trained in textured hair. Once at the salon, daughter in the chair, I asked KellyAnn how much experience she has with this type of hair while holding my daughter's long hair. She looked at me and said "I am VERY experienced." I thought great and continued to discuss what we were looking for in a haircut. I wanted her ends cut off (cut was to go from middle of the back to middle of the shoulder blades). The horror begins...I am waiting in the sitting area for 2.5 HOURS! Remember, IT"S ONLY A CUT/TRIM!!! I finally take peek and notice my daughter under the dryer with 2-strand twists. (KellyAnn was trying to make her curls come in.) Once done, my daughter comes from around the corner, hair is now shoulder length. My initial thought was "okay, shorter than we discussed" I was not impressed. I asked if layers were put in because I could see different lengths. Couldn't really gauge the cut because the 2-strand twists made everything lay different. Once home and daughters hair washed I could truly see the cut, her hair was completely JACKED up!!! OMG!! HORRENDOUS! I sent an email and the owner responded with an apology and he told me he would look into it the next day and get back to me. That was 4 days ago and I still haven't heard back. I even sent a second email requesting a refund for the srvice...no response. I had a great experience with one of their stylists on my curly hair, Tennille. But, I would not recommend KellyAnn for "textured hair". My daughter's hair looks like an overgrown mullet. Her hair has 2 distinct levels opposed layers. The salon owner apologized but without following up on his initial email, I have determined that customer satisfaction is not his priority being he has not resolved this complaint. I requested a refund for service and tip $44.85 ...crickets. I would not recommend this salon based on my experience there.
