I scheduled an appointment with KellyAnn for my daughter, It was her 1st time going to her. The appointment was for a haircut, to clean up her dead ends...not a new style. When I made the appointment, I asked if she was experienced with ethnic hair. I was told yes, she was trained in textured hair. Once at the salon, daughter in the chair, I asked KellyAnn how much experience she has with this type of hair while holding my daughter's long hair. She looked at me and said "I am VERY experienced." I thought great and continued to discuss what we were looking for in a haircut. I wanted her ends cut off (cut was to go from middle of the back to middle of the shoulder blades). The horror begins...I am waiting in the sitting area for 2.5 HOURS! Remember, IT"S ONLY A CUT/TRIM!!! I finally take peek and notice my daughter under the dryer with 2-strand twists. (KellyAnn was trying to make her curls come in.) Once done, my daughter comes from around the corner, hair is now shoulder length. My initial thought was "okay, shorter than we discussed" I was not impressed. I asked if layers were put in because I could see different lengths. Couldn't really gauge the cut because the 2-strand twists made everything lay different. Once home and daughters hair washed I could truly see the cut, her hair was completely JACKED up!!! OMG!! HORRENDOUS! I sent an email and the owner responded with an apology and he told me he would look into it the next day and get back to me. That was 4 days ago and I still haven't heard back. I even sent a second email requesting a refund for the srvice...no response. I had a great experience with one of their stylists on my curly hair, Tennille. But, I would not recommend KellyAnn for "textured hair". My daughter's hair looks like an overgrown mullet. Her hair has 2 distinct levels opposed layers. The salon owner apologized but without following up on his initial email, I have determined that customer satisfaction is not his priority being he has not resolved this complaint. I requested a refund for service and tip $44.85 ...crickets. I would not recommend this salon based on my experience there. Went in for mens haircut and asked to leave it a little long on the top and and clean up the sides and fade it together. The lady cutting my hair couldn't figure out how to do that i ended up having to try explain how to do it, but she only made it worse and was told it wouldn't work that way so i should leave it how it is. Trying to be nice i said Thankyou and looks good because i truly believe there was no saving my hair without just cutting it all down. Moral of the story don't go here for a mens haircut. read more

I started coming here a few years back when I was given a gift certificate. I had Angela a couple times over the years and she was wonderful. Following a long illness, I started to make myself a priority and began to see Angela again for an 80 min massage. Best.Decision.Ever. I now book with her no-monthly and have never felt better. Angela is not only very skilled with her knowledge and techniques, she carries an energy and has the kind of aura that bathes you in calm, comfortable, & healing that you will carry with you the rest of day/week. I went in for an updo for my daughter's wedding on Saturday. I brought a few pictures of what I wanted. I've been letting my hair grow just for this reason and occasion. This woman despite seeing my pictures, gave me a French twist and a few curls. This is absolutely not what I asked for. During the time she was doing my hair, another young lady came over 5-6 x to "remind" her that another client she had was becoming impatient. The young lady doing my hair kept instructing her to do stuff but she kept coming back insisting the other woman was getting upset. She basically rushed and did what she wanted instead of what I asked for to make the other client priority. Maybe they should not overbook clients. I paid $76 for a "1986 high school homecoming" hairstyle. I did NOT get the experience I was looking for from a supposedly reputable salon. I was not priority for the hour I sat in this woman's chair. I had to ask for a mirror to see the back after she finished. I know she could see I wasn't happy. My hair was in a tight, old lady French roll. Don't commit to something you can't deliver. This was a once in a lifetime occasion to be the mother of the bride, my only daughter. I was uncomfortable all day and all night. It had to come out before the night was even over because it hurt it was so tight. And the balm she used had other peoples hair stuck to it. When she walked away for a moment, I looked over to see what she was using, and there was definitely black hair stuck to the balm. I'm platinum it definitely wasn't my hair. Is that even hygenic? I did tell the receptionist I was not happy and I wasn't even happy about leaving a tip for somebody who wasn't engaged while she was doing my hair nor did she give me what I asked for. She kept trying to tell me it looked nice, and was borderline argumentative when I called back 5 minutes after I left to tell her, I am just not happy with the outcome and I could not come back due to time constraints. She didn't offer to have it fixed while I was still at the salon. She promised the owners would call me and I haven't heard from anybody yet. I would never go back to the salon nor would I recommend it to any of my friends or family. read more

Angela was my Massage Therapist and she is great. I used to be a massage therapist so have done many massage trades so can say that with confidence. I had the 50 minute Elemental Massage, which is for relaxation, but she still spent time on my problem area. ***SPOILER ALERT*** ha! It starts out with a warm foot bath and scrub and after doing the back and arms, Angela uses a warm/hot wet towel to clean the massage cream off. She used a warm pack on my back after the back massage. It's cooold out and there was a heated cover on the massage table. She also did a face and scalp massage which I love; if you don't, just let her know. Though it was 50 minutes, she still fit in a full body massage. I recently got married this past September and booked Jonathan Kane Salon & Spa for my wedding. We went to the salon for the services and I cannot begin to express what an amazing job they did. Samantha, Lexie and Tennille did all of our hair (myself + six bridesmaids + my mother). Krista also did a wonderful job on several of the girls makeup. I did my trial with Samantha before the wedding and showed her a few pictures of what I was looking for. She was so easy to work with and helped style my hair so it stayed in place all day and even lasted through a full night of dancing! The entire morning was so laid back and relaxed. We were able to bring in champagne and OJ for mimosas and some fruit for breakfast. Some of the stylists threw on Todays Top Hits as soon as we arrived. They also made sure to touch up all of our hair before we left so even those of us who started early left the salon looking perfect. JK is the place where you'll find your top notch stylist! I'v been going to few different places and seems like no one can color my hair brown. I almost gave up and was going to buy my box of color at Walgreens, until I stepped into JK and had a consultation with Sam. She assured me that she can fix a black mess on my hair and she did! I stopped in today for a no chip manicure. The young lady was very sweet and delightful. She was new and I didn't have the heart to say to her how disappointed I was with my mani. As you can see, the cuticles are still a mess and the polish just looks unprofessional. I did have on a no chip mani that was very tough to remove and she was very gentle and diligent with that. Anyway, make sure you request someone with more experience. I will not be returning to this location. read more

I arrived at 5:15 and went back with Kellyann around 5:20 and didn't leave till a little after 9:00. The coloring didn't take in 2 spots and she offered to fix it at another appointment. I asked for a bob and there is no length difference. It's all one length. For the amount of time and the price, I expected a whole lot more than a mediocre hair cut! read more

I had the worst experience today. I've been going to your salon for about 3 years and have loved every stylist. I usually make an appointment with whoever is available because my schedule is so busy. I've never had a bad experience before today. I always get a cut and color. While the stylist colored my hair the only thing the she said to my was I had so much hair. She said it like she was so annoyed and inconvenienced to be coloring my hair and she made me feel horrible. She told me she didn't have time to dry my hair which was disappointing because I couldn't really see how the haircut looked with it wet. When I got home I realized there was brown hair color all over my face and neck. I paid $160 and left feeling awful. read more

I've known about Jonathan Kane for a few years now and finally decided to visit for waxing services. Anna did my eyebrow and lip and I'm literally in awe at how beautiful my eyebrows are. The moment I met her, she was incredibly sweet and genuine. I'm so excited that I can go somewhere in the neighborhood and get such amazing and professional service. I will definitely be a regular! Anna is the best!!!! In regards to the facility it is clean, open, and has the look of a chic salon. There is a separate spa section that allows for a quieter and calmer atmosphere. (It also smelled really good throughout the facility and lacked the product/burning hair smell salons typically have.) The receptionist was also really sweet and did a good job at multitasking with a customer finishing up and checking me in/greeting me. I also appreciate that they were promptly on time. Let me start my review by stating my hair looked and felt great. My stylist (Willisa) was very knowledgeable, personable, gentle in her hands and overall, a professional. My three star review is in no way a reflection of her work. If I were solely rating my stylist, she would receive five stars. My disappointment came at check out. It was my first time at a salon in years - I'm an advocate for doing my own hair, but I had the day off from work and wanted a "free-day" from straightening it myself. I had found Jonathan Kane online (I used to be a frequent visitor of the previous salon, "Edens" many years ago) and read nothing but great reviews. I confirmed my appointment online and made it a point to call and confirm the grand total prior to arriving to ensure it fit within my budget. I was told $70. After a relaxing hour-and-a-half in the hands of Willisa, it ended on a sour note at checkout. I was told the grand total was $90. I promptly asked the reason for the increase, as I was quoted $70. I was then told, there's an additional fee for "natural" hair, and my trim that was previously quoted at $10, was actually $20. With tip, I walked out paying $105. $105 for a wash, blow-dry and trim. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Willisa, I can confidently say I will not be returning to JK salon solely due to the extremely high costs. In a way, I felt I was being "punished" for maintaining my natural hair (i.e. an almost $30-$40 extra fee). As my stylist can attest, my natural curl pattern is very fine, soft and manageable - how would my hair have been treated if it were relaxed? I had a relaxer for 13 years and I can confidently say there's no difference in approach, so why the additional fee? I simply cannot justify spending this amount in the future. I got a giftcard for here so that's what brought me in. My nail tech was very nice and friendly and we had a nice time chatting. The salon itself was very clean and had an open airy feel. It wasn't anything special, but it was good enough. The manicure itself was not that great. I told her upfront that I had bad cuticles and she didn't end up doing a good job in getting rid of them. Usually nail techs will clean them up, then massge you and prep you for color and then go over the cuticles again. Not her. I didn't actually realize the bad job until i got home and really examined my nails. Also my paint was uneven and not cleaned up. I was disappointed and was glad I didn't actually pay out of my own pocket. Also, I found it a little odd that they make you get up to pay at the front desk. I appreciate them making you pay before your nails get painted, but for a nice salon, the nail tech should have taken my money and brought me back a receipt to sign. That's good customer service. And then when the manicure was done, I had to sit out front and just wait for my nails to dry. She did give my drip dry drops, but once again it was a little weird to just plop me down on a seat with no fan or anything. With so many other nail places to go to, I don't think I would go back. read more

Just spoke with the owner about my experience, and he was very gracious and apologetic. He offered to pay for my next service, which I thought was pretty awesome. He also addressed the fact that clients do come in more informed about formulas and applications, etc. and that his stylists should count those opinions. So happy to report that I really felt heard by him. He also told me that it's the salon's policy NOT to have employees getting services while clients are there. He said he spoke to Alysia and reiterated this and will also remind the rest of the stylists as well. He said that when I was ready, that I could book again with whoever I wanted, and that the desk would make sure it was on a day when Alysia wasn't there so it wouldn't be awkward. The world certainly isn't perfect, and salon mishaps happen. But I'm so impressed with the way JK handles things when they do pop up. I haven't gone back for a correction yet. but I'm updating my rating based on the great customer service I got in a really awkward situation. read more

I've never gone here to get my hair done, but I've been going here for a while to get my eyebrows done. More specifically, I've been going to Lindsey! Lindsey is amazing when it comes to waxing. I've never left disappointed! I have sensitive skin, and she's always been careful not to irritate it. Also, the salon uses Aveda products which is great for people with sensitivity. I also tend to make last minute appointments, and Lindsey definitely makes an effort to squeeze me in for a brow wax. The salon is cute and it seems very clean. I would definitely want to try some other services there. The only downside is that the salon is pretty expensive compared to others in the area. read more

All the staff I've interacted with are pleasant and friendly. Kelsey at the front desk, Lindsay for my brow wax, and Marissa for my cut. Jonathan Kane is an AVEDA concept salon, so I knew what to expect going in which was exactly the reason I chose it. The reception staff is quick to offer you a beverage; tea, water, etc. I arrived early for my most recent appointment (brow wax & cut) and Lindsay was able to take me ahead of schedule. Followed by a brief wait for Marissa. I knew I found a good stylist when Marissa asked if I wanted my longs bangs/face layers thinned. I told her to do what she sought best. I love having confidence in my stylists knowing that I can give them professional and artistic freedom. I believe that the hair cut prices are moderate for a "branded" salon. I do however, feel their prices for waxing services are a bit high ($18 for brow). My overall bill was $60 + $10 tip. I will be a returning customer. read more

Let me start off by saying that I am in the beauty field and know, and am friends with the owner of Jonathan Kane. That does not make me biased tho. i pay the going rates. I love the skill of the stylists who have cut my hair; I love the ability to walk in at the appointed time and walk out looking great (if that is possible for me). i feel like a partner with the stylists who have always inquired about what i want done or if I have any hair issues. I like having a shampoo and then a rinse after the cut to get the hair off my scalp and then going back to the chair for styling. I love getting my haircut done here. Everyone is very friendly and well skilled. Whether you're seeing your favorite or someone new they all do a great job at giving you what you want. I've been to 3 different stylists here and have loved them all. I am regularly stopped by strangers and asked where I get my hair cut because they like it, and the last time the person asking was a stylus herself. My haircut came out nicely although I do feel like it ended a lot sooner than my previous haircuts. Emily seemed to only snip at a few sections and call it done which is strange but it's my fault for not speaking up. The environment was awful. No one greeted me as I walked through the door. There were people who looked like neither employees nor clients standing in front of the front desk drinking water. I literally had to nudge people out of the way. The salon didn't seem large enough as noise pollution from the hair dressing stations made it impossible for me to hear the fast talking receptionist. Then I was cutting my bangs when my husband thought it would be funny to scare me just as I cut. Nothing good happening there! My daughter recommended JK. I've been coming here for a couple of years to get no-chip manicures--I'm never disappointed! I've always had a pleasant experience, and I've come to use a lot of the Aveda products. Plus, I was happy to discover that every time you book in advance, you earn points towards your account. It's because of this rewards system that, so far, I have redeemed enough points for two free manicures! This is a nice perk. I highly recommend. read more

Went for a touch up color, to get rid of my grey hair. My hair turned out SO dark! It was horrible. Was leaving the next day for vacation and wedding. I almost cried it was so dark and horrible. I said I was not happy but they didn't offer any kind of discount, just excuses. They did offer me a return visit but why would I return there? The pricing is outrageous, $130 for a color that was not what they said it would be. Most other salons of good reputation charge just over $50 and for a color that you like. If I hadn't been leaving the next day I would have traveled to the city to a good salon. If the hairdresser gets out a swatch of hair on a chart to match your color, you know you are in trouble. I do NOT recommend this salon at all. A bad experience and they did not really care. read more

I must say, my facial from Lindsay was FANTASTIC - ruined me for all others! The staff is super friendly, the space is beautiful and inviting, and they have been really great in working with my weird schedule to find appointments for me. After such a great experience with Shameka I decided to take her advice and let Sam do my hair. And I'm glad I didnt judge Sam by her cover. I'm completely natural and haven't had relaxer in over 7 years nor my ends trimmed in 3 years. Sam walked me through every step and explained which products she was going to use and the reason behind why she was using them. She really seemed to be very knowledgeable just like everyone else I've come across at the salon. She took my very dry and brittle hair and made it light and airy.
