    Classic Mac & Cheese

Honestly, some of the best mac and cheese I've ever had. Super creamy, a lot of food, and the staff is great. If you're in Portsmouth, you gotta check them out. Total hidden gem!

Came across the bar in Portsmouth while on a work trip. Place is super cute with all the Halloween decor up. I'm always on a look out during Halloween season to find a fun festive place. Had some dinner here and returned with some coworkers the next day to have some fun festive drinks! It seems to be a popular spot in the neighborhood! Recommend if you're looking for a drink and bar food. They have 25cent wing Fridays you must order a drink with it.

Truffle Fries really didn't have any taste to them while a drank a few beers. Beers were good and staff was nice.

We ate here based on a recommendation from a college website that it is popular with students. It was nearly 8 o'clock, so there was plenty of seating. Our server was friendly, but throughout the meal she was hard to find, and when we did find her she was distracted. I asked for water twice and both times she said she would bring it, and yet I never got it. The food is average. The skillet corn was pretty spicy but dry, but not tender. Half of the brisket was half tender and half was tough, and it came with a ridiculous portion of fried onions. The chicken quesadilla was average with some chunks of chicken but mostly cheese and a few peppers for color. There was a guy setting up for live music up front which was cool for a weeknight. If I were in town again, I'd maybe grab a beer here if there was some live music, but I'd try dinner at one of the many other options in Portsmouth.

When I got here it was PACKED, with 12 PLUS TVs running, country music in the background. This place is more a bar than a restaurant. You're definitely not coming here for delicately prepared food, you're coming here to accompany your frat bro who thinks it's a good idea to tell random women to smile more. The service was very polite, we were consistently tended to, and the food came out within 30 minutes. For a whole 31 dollars, this definitely filled me up, however: I got The Cure burger, with a side of hand cut fries and the quesadillas with chicken. Personally I felt that both of these dishes were missing some key flavor, like it was just barely missing the benchmark for 'enough salt' or 'enough umami'. It was filling, but without the flavor payout. The quesadillas had too much vegetables, and not enough cheese or chicken. The burger was very large to handle but manageable, yet it was suffering the same issue of me wondering: 'this is missing something, where is the flavor?'. This thing had a whole fried egg, fried chicken, a light mayo based sauce, tomatoes and lettuce, yet as I'm listing each ingredient, I realize the way I can truly describe this burger is like this: Imagine you had an omelette that did not have enough salt and spice. So as a solution, you decide to add unsalted and unspiced mushrooms, unsalted and unspiced ham, and stack on even more unsalted and unspiced egg... all in an unfulfilled attempt to resolve the main problem of the whole dish being.. unsalted and unspiced. All this to say, on initial bite, you'd think you'll be getting the big flavor hit, but instead it sheepishly waves and peeters out like it's got stage fright.

First time here! In for the weekend for a friends wedding. Got in late Friday night and had a few of their Christmas drinks. Loved that it was all decked out for Christmas and enjoyed reading all the cool Christmas drinks! Super cool! Great staff! We helped close the bar. Super easy walk from our hotel Thaxter to here!

A place named The GOAT? I mean I take care of goats for a living so naturally I needed to check this place out! This spot does an awesome Christmas pop up with festive themed glasses for the cocktails and the entire place is decked out for the holiday! Truly picture/video worthy with the extent they go with decorations as if it transports you away from New Hampshire. I enjoyed my two cocktails and my wife did as well and we loved being able to buy a festive goat mug! Due to this Christmas take over expect a wait for getting sat but they did overestimate saying our wait would be an hour and 15 mins. It took less than an hour in truth though. The staff/servers were busy seeming overwhelmed at moments but despite that our server was great and explained everything well! So, after reading the stuff above you may be asking, why would you only give three stars? Well, unfortunately the magic stopped when it came to the quality of the food. The exception being the Brisket French Onion Soup, I would say try that...wow! Both my burger and my wife's burger were nothing special and not something either of us would care to have again. Burgers were cooked pink which was what we wanted and great but were cold quickly! My burger was suppose to have mac n cheese on it and it maybe had 5 pieces total, felt like a joke or as if it was on it by accident. The fries were overcooked. Overall, due to the extent they go all out for Christmas I think it is worth going here to experience it and have a cocktail and app to split before dining elsewhere afterwards. Burgers were far too lackluster to match the magic of the decorations.

Went here late November and it was all decorated for Christmas and I LOVED it. It was very busy so we didn't have a chance to try the food since the wait was almost 2hrs. Did want to at least try the drinks so made our way to the bar and they had a special menu for the holiday with Christmas themed drinks. We didn't try any of them as none of the options really jump out at us. Also didn't care much for the regular cocktails they had so we opted for a classic option. I went with a Moscow mule and my boyfriend did a regular margarita. Didn't care for either drink. He said he'd give the margarita a 6/10. My Moscow mule tasted like ginger ale with no carbonation. Both drinks were served in beer glasses and with a straw. Super over priced as well for drinks that felt like had no alcohol and were also not properly made. Between the two drinks it came out to $32. The only plus was the vibe- lots of Christmas decor and Christmas music playing. The staff at the door were very welcoming, staff at the bar were very serious. Wouldn't visit again even tho I loved the Christmas decor.

Food was good, but the place was so loud, I could not hear the people I went out with. The high chairs were uncomfortable for me, as well. Service was somewhat slow and they never asked (until we had finished) if we wanted anymore water or drinks.

    THE FOUGHETTABOUTIT Burger

Whenever I am traveling to New Hampshire, or Maine my boyfriend and I always stop off at The Goat... is it fancy? No, is the food healthy for you? Absolutely not! However, they do have incredible bloody Mary's and super fun hamburger choices! We stopped in at The Goat on our way up to Maine yesterday and everything from the service to the vibes were perfect! I started with a Bloody Mary, which was fantastic and huge!! For our mains: - I had the "THE FOUGHETTABOUTIT" burger which is the craziest thing I have ever had! First off, it is served on Texas Toast, the veggie patty was fried and it was loaded up with garlic cheese curds!! It was so filling I could only eat half... the fries were very soggy and not edible sadly, but I am still happy about my choice! - My boyfriend had the Rancho, not quite as fun as the "THE FOUGHETTABOUTIT" burger, but it was fully stacked with bacon and ranch; how bad can that be?! He chose tater tots as his side and they were on point and cooked to perfection! If you are looking for a fun restaurant in Portsmouth, check out The Goat, you will not be disappointed!

The decorations were beautiful and drinks were great, but the host was incredibly rude. I wouldn't return.

The beer was cold i guess. Waited too long for mediocre food. Dont think i'll be back unless im already drinking and am craving a bucket of bacon (most reliable item they seem to have) Shoutout our server Ethan though, he did his best with the tools he was given for a busy night.

My food was Okay not the best was very small in my opinion, it was small loud and crowded I didn't like how there were so loud TVs, my service wasn't great either the waiter went to fans of the patriots at the bar talking over doing there job. With @Toby Luis

Anyway, I ordered a drink and strangely there weren't any cigar cutters/matches/lighters to be seen; I thought this somewhat strange because I'm in a candy shop??? I asked a question about an event being hosted by this business at another location and the bartender didn't know anything about it, or where it was located; seemed more annoyed; although a friendly patron chimed-in and said he knew where it was. I proceeded to an area with leather chairs and large TV; there was one unfriendly individual in there and a cowboy movie was on the screen; I really didn't come in to watch a movie; a general sports program would have been more entertaining. Generally I found the place had an attitude and was unwelcoming, which probably explains why it was so dead.

A convenient parking lot directly across the street was a gem since we were in a hurry to warm back up inside. Upon entering, it seemed like a quiet night for the restaurant. The hostess at the front desk was not particularly welcoming or friendly to our family of four, and although there were available tables on the main level, she said she was seating us upstairs. We followed her up to a beautiful dining space with an impressive bar, warm lighting, rustic details, and so much charm. Our server, Scott, was fantastic! Incredibly knowledgeable and patient, providing great recommendations from the menu. We were able to enjoy a delicious dinner, featuring the Ember Burger (so many layers of flavor with a shallot jam, mustard aioli, and cherrywood bacon), a kids' pizza (which is basically a whole medium pizza), and delicious Chicken Vodka Parmesan, which has some kick from the house-made spicy vodka sauce. In the mood to be adventurous, I explored the specialty cocktail menu, crafted with unique ingredients and thoughtfulness. Based on Scott's recommendation, I opted for the Hummingbird Down, made with green chartreuse from Carthusian monks and house-made honey syrup. The herbaceous, spirited beverage was so complex that I enjoyed it until the last sip. I can see the appeal of this location for an intimate date night, chill girls' dinner, and even private events; the space is beautiful! If we lived locally, we'd certainly be coming back!
