She started in September with three full days a week and loved it so much her parents increased her to five days. This was her very first time away from home, and the teachers were incredibly kind and reassuring. We were worried in the beginning about how she would adjust, but they sent sweet photos of her being comforted and held, and thanks to their warmth and patience, she adjusted beautifully. Before long, she was eagerly looking forward to school each day! She adores all the special classes, but music with Miss Momo on Fridays is definitely her favorite. One of the highlights of the year was the holiday show they performed for the families. Seeing those little ones dressed as elves, singing, and shaking their instruments putting their whole hearts into it was absolutely precious. Our granddaughter has truly blossomed at Palisades Preschool. She's become quite the social butterfly and talks all the time about her friends at school. The teachers often send photos and videos during the day, and it's so clear from those big smiles that the kids are having the time of their lives while learning and growing. On days that I pick her up from school, I'm amazed at how joyful and excited all the children are at Palisades Preschool. It's been such a wonderful year, and while we're a little sad to see it end, we're thrilled she'll be joining the summer camp and moving on to the 3s class this fall.

My daughter came home in a dress and without any underwear on, despite me packing a duffle bag full of extras--clothes, underwear, socks, wipes, a blanket, and a towel. Why wasn't her bag checked? Why was she sent home improperly dressed? Worse, I found her belongings scattered all over the floor in an unlocked classroom during pickup--no supervision, no help. I had to gather her things myself. My son wasn't cared for properly either. His clothes were falling off of him, and his face was covered in dried snot that I had to clean myself. I packed his swimsuit, towel, and shoes, yet he didn't participate in water play because no one bothered to check his bag. The level of security is also concerning--there's no check-in or ID process. I could have walked in with his cousin, who is not even registered, and no one would have noticed or stopped us. Their lunchboxes were untouched, which means no one ensured they even ate. That's neglectful. To top it off, communication is nonexistent. No one returns phone calls or answers emails. I also witnessed a teacher berating a child with visible annoyance. Completely inappropriate. These are not minor issues. This is a pattern of carelessness, poor supervision, and unprofessional behavior. I expected basic safety and attentiveness. My husband and I noticed how fast he developed and advanced academically. She was kind, loving, and always kept the kids busy with various activities over the course of the day. Ms. Peralta left suddenly a few months after we started, and things immediately took a turn for the worst. In fact, it seems like many of the experienced teachers had left this year, and the administration chose to promote the assistant teachers, who were highly inexperienced and lacked the proper training and qualifications. During the few months we stayed at the school after Ms. Peralta's departure, my son was moved from the toddler classroom to the preschool classroom. This was a complete disaster. His new teacher had a short temper. It was almost daily when my son would come home and tell me that his teacher was angry. I had heard from other parents in the class that they had noticed her temper as well and addressed it with director. She did not invest in the kids education, and was constantly having them sit on the floor as they passed the time. It had turned into more of a daycare than a school. My son even started forgetting the numbers and alphabet he learned in Ms. Peralta's class. His new teacher did not invest any time in the curriculum or his education. This isn't even the worst of it. A few weeks before our departure, I received a call from the school director reporting an incident that had taken place. Apparently the kids had returned from their daily play on the playground, and my two year old son was forgotten outside and left alone on the playground! Thankfully, another teacher saw him and reported the situation to the director. The director informed me that she had the intention of addressing it with the teacher and other staff. Regardless, I was absolutely livid to hear this. After this incident there continued to be no improvement in the quality of care or education, so we decided to pull him out permanently. I hope this review helps prospective parents make an informed decision on where to send their child. As I mentioned in the beginning, it is all dependent on the proper teachers. It seems like all the experienced teachers left during covid, and the administration made some poor choices with the teachers they hastily hired. I would also like to note that the school director and assistant director genuinely cared and wanted to work with our family on resolving these issues. However, it just got the the point where there were so many issues with the teacher that we could not stay at this school.

Evergreen Kids Academy is a wonderful school, filled with some of the best teachers you'll find…read morearound here. They are loving, nurturing, and really make learning exciting. They are Montessori based, but not fully, so there is more structure, while still having independence and learning through play in Montessori. They offer the best of both worlds. They are always willing to help with any concerns. My kids were very shy when they started. When Ms. Lisa saw how quiet my daughter was, she would periodically group her together with another child while working, so she could get more comfortable with other kids in the class. She ended up being everyone's best buddy. Ms. Jeannie has also helped my son overcome a lot of anxiety/socialization obstacles (being a Covid baby/toddler). The teachers go the extra mile to help kids with what they need. Both Ms. Jeannie and Ms. Lisa (the main teachers) are passionate about their job. The TA's are amazing too, especially Ms. Kate, who is always has a big sweet positive attitude! My daughter who is in first grade, went to preschool here. She and her friends from EKA are at a reading level of 2nd-3rd grade because of the love of reading they developed at the school. Imagine a preschooler asking about chapter books! This review is long overdue. EKA may not have many reviews, because they never ask parents to write them, knowing parents already have enough on their hands. I can't rave enough about this school!

Esthetics: KinderCare was very nice esthetically; our location resembled a cute little schoolhouse…read morewith clean grounds, clean interior (you don't smell any odor of poop or bleach... like some places I've toured), and definitely bright and airy. Everything I was looking for of the ideal poster image daycare. Both classrooms (1s and 2s); large & spacious, with sections for play, reading , lunch/craft table, and diaper changes/toileting; every child had there own cubby area w/ coat hook and bin (that have their facial picture and their names - cute touch!). Price Tag: Ideal = costly. The school tuition is expensive, however there are two perks; tuition includes blankets and all meals. You supply the typical stuff -- diapers and wipes (ointment, etc). There are additional classes called Learning Adventures (offered for an additional fee $50 per child), I signed my kids up for Music, which in my opinion was a waste of money. My children never hymned or sung the songs they learned at home. At the school they attend now, they do. The teachers there all seemed very nice and pleasant. Class size moderate 2:10 (varies each day). Staff: Stacey DeMarco, the school's director is very nice, however, you will not be dealing with her most of the time. It will be either Kristin, whom is the Asst Director and/or Megan, renamed the Program Specialist -- those two were not always the most personable or easy to talk to. In my opinion, that can make or break a school, and it definitely played a part with me removing my kids. Credentials: The school was in the final stages of becoming NAEYC accredited, which by now they are. However, the overall education factor wasn't there for me. I was looking for more of a preschool setting, with curriculum and pre-K preparation. It appeared to be more Playtime oriented, 1 and 2 year olds play, yes, but not all day, that didn't sit well with me. Other Stuff: There is definitely a nice diversified mix of kids. However, some of those kids displayed signs of biting, and also very sickly. My children were getting sick very frequently at this school; the policy they adhere to is the State's policy, so only if the child(ren) are feverish, has diarrhea, and/or vomiting -- will the children's parents be called to pick up a child. My daughter was sick and no one ever called me to tell me she was or appeared to be ill (i.e. watery eyes, runny nose, looked pail -- a teacher, and one who is a mother, should definitely be able to pick up on those signs). When a parent calls and everything is always fine or great, that raises an eyebrow for me, especially when its week one and two, and this is their first time going to school.
