The caregivers in the infant rooms have been amazing my son loves them! They have really gotten to know our son and have done an amazing job caring for him. I love that they update you all day on the app so you can see their schedule and how they're progressing. They do a great job sticking to our schedule. If there's ever an issue, they call right away and let you know! Management has also changed in the past year (2 people had turned over in the time we started) and the past few months have been great. I love the management in there now! They also do a great job with different activities and arts and crafts at the school. They've done tons of different theme weeks, decorations, quarterly fun fairs and more interactive elements for the kids which has been cute! The only improvements I'd like to see is more so in the afternoon pick up time. I've seen a lot of the care givers switching rooms at pick up time (so I may not recognize the teacher in there) and sometimes the kids to teacher ratio is off at the end of the day.

I'll start with what is good about this place (not much). The lead teachers genuinely care about the children and put a lot into their care. The staff also take the time to know the kids' names. I only wish the management and staff put a fraction of that effort into their relations with the parents. They do not. If you ask questions or raise any issues, the management is immediately defensive, dismissive, and do not take the time to consider their clients' concerns. Not one bit! Are the parents not the customers? Don't you believe you should invest in building trust and transparency with parents? Not close to the customer comes first. Not by a long shot. Our child (age 3) had an incident where she hit her head. My wife was told by the manager that our daughter is clumsy, and she has seen her being clumsy. She is 3! Aren't they called toddlers? When she hit her head, a report was filed. At pick up, I was told to "just sign the report" as the person at the desk was on the phone. When in the classroom, I inquired about what happened and was told "we have no idea. It was with the morning teacher. You can just ask her tomorrow". What? The afternoon was like a revolving door with different junior staff covering, as the lead teacher left before 3 PM. They never greeted you when you came to pick-up. New faces never introduced themselves as "my name is and I'm covering for..." Never! They would say "Annie, your dad is here" and then return to what they were doing. This included either cleaning the room during school hours or uploading photos to their App on an iPad, not teaching or working with the kids. When our daughter started, they had no nametag for her place at the table. This went on for almost a month before we brought it up and they dismissively tried to tell us that they were "ruined" and required new ones. She never had one. More excuses! Then, they made one and her name was MISSPELLED! They are "teaching" her spelling, but they can't spell her first name. It was never fixed. The curriculum is entirely vague and we never received learning packets, progress reports, or any written updates on learning. If you do want your kid to sit in front of a screen and learn solely from a cartoon elephant, this is an expensive place where you can do just that. Go ahead, they are more than happy to take your money! In fact, that was their primary focus. Communication with parents is abysmal! Our daughter's lead teacher, the single element of consistency in this whole place, decided to leave and nothing was communicated to the parents. No phone call. No email. No communication of "since we are losing Ms. X, Ms. Y will be filling in for the rest of summer". ZERO! Complete reliance on technology. Zero professional communication skills. Honesty and trust are paramount with this dynamic. We got neither!

ELA is a very good place for toddlers & pre schoolers. Staff are nice & friendly. Although the turn over of teachers is slightly high, i would say all the teachers are warm & caring & they do their best to help kids improve. The hours are very convenient for working moms, they have early drop off & late pick up. Their price is comparable to other nurseries in Jersey city. Kids learn interesting stuff beside the usual English & math, like sign language, yoga & Spanish...etc It is a multicultural place, there are kids from different countries, my girls learnt few Russian & Indian words :) My overall experience with ELA is terrific & i recommend it to anyone who has kids age 1 to 5 years old.

Honestly, we were a little desperate. We needed to get our kid out of his daycare and River School had a waitlist for forever, so we took a chance on ELA. It was close to our place and an easy walk to PATH. Oh my gosh, I am so glad we did. My child blossomed so much at ELA. He was coming home knowing his alphabet, his numbers, singing songs. Truly truly great experience. The teachers loved him so much that they all literally came out and cried on his last day. We really wanted to come back to Yelp and give them a stellar review because they deserve it and they deserve a serious look for any parent in the area.

In addition, the added bonus of food being included just alleviated a lot of stress. It definitely forced our child to try new foods and helped to see everyone else trying it. They have so many activities that include the families. We only experienced the staff in the oldest classroom, but we, and most importantly our child, loved his teachers. When he first started going there he had a super rough time, but they helped him transition, and eventually got to the point where he often didn't want to leave at the end of the day. Each morning when I drop our her off her face actually lights up as if she is excited to be there! The caregivers are all invested in the children and make sure they receive individual attention while remaining extremely receptive to odd first time parent requests and questions (we have a lot). Then one day while I was at the nearby pharmacy, I see toddlers and infants coming out with their parents.I asked one of the parents if there was some sorta class around and she said the magic word" Day Care".A stones throw from my house,where were you hiding Sweet Dreams? I walk in and am greeted by the Director and she gives me a tour of the place.The infant room is so bright and roomy and one entire wall of only glass windows.I was floored. Few words of exchange with the care givers on the floor and I knew this would be my daughters second home. Its been 2 years since then and we have never had any complaints.My daughter adores the staff and now that she is in the toddler room she has made friends and is totally smitten by her teachers. Its about time for her to move on now and I know for sure that we will never find so much warmth, love and affection in a day care that we experienced here in Sweet Dreams..
