Head to the website, book the date & time you want and you're done. www.watergapadventure.com/river-trips A few things worth noting: They offer multiple trip lengths. The standard 4-, 6- and 10-mile trip (Smithfield to Portland) are all booked generically and then when you get there you tell them what you want to do. All pricing is the same which believe me compared to others companies, that's very different - in a good way. They do offer two other longer trips but those require calls to the main office I assume to assess river conditions; your own competency and shuttle availability. The main office in Delaware Water Gap is very easy to find and there was plenty of parking on a quiet post-Labor Day Monday. You check in, you're handed a laminated map, life jacket and given a brief route explanation and then you're off in the van. One problem arose and it was kind of a PIA but it was worked around. Most companies have different types/sizes/models of kayaks and quite often, will ask you what you prefer. Not here. When we left the office, the guy driving didn't say a word to me until we get to Smithfield Beach to unload. He had a few kayaks pre-loaded in the carrier but definitely did not look at them before we left. One of them had a broken foot pedal that he said couldn't be used, another was very much designed for a smaller individual (i.e. if you're taller and/or taller & larger it ain't happening safely) which only left two tandem models. Using a tandem as a single individual is not the end of the world but especially when the seats are still left in the two person configuration (i.e. one front and one back versus the rear one being placed more towards the middle), it's a PIA to maneuver the craft and you are paddling harder to get the job done compared to a single. The scenery along the route was decent. You could see a bit of the Shawnee Resort and Golf Course, an old stone bridge abutment in the middle of the river, under and along 80 and then when you get into the Water Gap itself with the high cliff sides. Very picturesque. Once you go under the old train viaduct in Portland, you give the office a call for the shuttle to meet you at the out point which is at the Portland Pedestrian Bridge. The whole experience was about four hours door to door to cover the ten miles on the water plus the shuttle to & from the pick up and drop off points. Lots of nice scenery, due to the low water level there wasn't much in the way of current except for the area around viaduqt in Portland and even that wasn't bad. I'm not a big fan of the equipment here but I wouldn't let that deter me from coming back in the future for one of their northern longer trips.

It was a…read morevery straightforward set up - check in and get your life vests, take their shuttle bus to the starting point on the river, get whatever style tube you paid for (we chose tubes with backrests and one cooler tube), and get out on the water! We slowly floated down the river, listened to music on our small portable speaker, swam around, made a short stop along a rocky bank at the edge of the water, and got to the end point after just over 3 hours. We got the shuttle bus back to the Twin Rivers office to drop off the life vests, then went back to our car in the parking deck right across the street. Very simple, and lots of fun!

This was a pretty last minute, somewhat impromptu day trip. Our friends invited us along, to help celebrate their daughter graduating and going off to college. It would be the first time rafting for my fnsily, but our friends had done previously with other friends and acquaintances. We arrived earlier than our time slot. I would suggest opting for the earliest outing you can, so that you have time to stop along the route. We started later than expected and we're rushing to get to the end, so we weren't able to chill and relax, and take our time heading down. There's also a place to eat and an animal exhibit in the same area. You can hang out and do some stuff before or after your water sport. You're able to bring your own vests, however for children, they MUST be US Coast guard approved. Honestly, adult of child, you should just be safe and ensure you have the right gear. Many of their vests were pretty new but I'd prefer to carry my own. We paid, got our wristbands, and the staff explained what we would be doing. We drove a little bit away, to Smithfield Beach, where they have picnic areas and access to the water. They have bathrooms, changing rooms and showers. All of the bathrooms in the early part of the day are great but by dusk, they get dank and gross. They really should gave someone clean them mid-day. We had to pay for parking in the beach lot, which was about $10. We walked down to another area where a guy explained to us how to navigate the river. He told us what to expect in terms of water height and expressed that we must ale3havr access to our vests in case water patrol stopped us. It seemed daunting at first but once we were out on the water, it was all good. We hopped in a van, which drove us to where we get our rafts. Oncr we got into our rafts, we were good to go. Our raft had to be switched out for antiehr because hubby noticed water bubbling at his feet, which meant there was a hole, so please make sure you inspect your craft before you head out. Paddling was difficult because we were three in a raft and we couldn't get the rhythm. This is definitely a workout. Everyone had to work together or you're all just making more work for each other. I would suggest at least four strong paddlers to a raft. If only two or three, you should definitely focus on working together. For the majority of the trip, the water was only knee or waist deep. There are lots of plant life in the water, making it difficult to paddle through. The entire trip straight should take 3-4 hours. We stopped at some of the "islands" to have lunch, drink, and just rest. We saw people off to the side camping, swimming, and having a good time. I'm convinced some of those people didn't make it back in time. That was not about to be us. We kept it moving, paddling and taking pictures, and enjoying the beauty of the nature surrounding us. It was amazing and the water was sooo clear. We got to see the beginnings of the sun setting and made it back just in time before it got too dark. We were driven back to Smithfield Beach, dried off and changed in the bathrooms, and headed home. The drive was about two hours each way and by the end of the night, we were exhausted. It was a fun trip and I'd love to do it again but I would probably prefer staying nearby at the Wyndham cabins or a campsite.

Upon arrival at our appointed time, we were greeted warmly, and our reservation was promptly found. The staff was eager to help us, and we were able to pick up some bug spray and protective gear for our belongings, which was great since we hadn't come prepared for that. Every person we interacted with inside their shop was very helpful. They ensured we found life preservers that fit us perfectly and provided detailed instructions along with a QR code to access a map. Finding the parking site within the National Park was easy, though we had to pay a $10 fee, which was reasonable. The park was full, so we were glad to be part of the Adventure Sports group, as they were turning everyone else away. The staff promptly met us at our car, loaded us into the van with other customers, and took us to Bushkill, where they unloaded our boats and ensured we were all set to go. They even offered to help us launch the boats. We received a set of safety instructions, and Lucas, who gave the briefing, did an excellent job. He was personable, friendly, and provided helpful tips on what to watch out for and avoid. All the staff involved in shuttling and getting the boats in and out of the water were great. Our time on the Delaware Water Gap was fantastic. We did the 10-mile trip, which took about four hours, including a couple of stops along the way based on their provided information. This was a fantastic experience as part of my daughter's birthday excursion in the Poconos. We are super glad we chose this outfit and highly recommend them for their professionalism, friendliness, high-quality gear, and detailed, helpful instructions. Every staff member was super nice and helpful, making for a memorable experience. Very affordable for what they provide, quality gear and shuttled right to the launch and waiting in the other end to collect everything and help the customers. Highly recommend Adventure Sports!

Not worth the price…read more We were charged 30 dollars per person for a 45 minute tube float that was advertised as 2 hours. The tubes were very dirty and of poor quality, as was the shuttle. The really frustrating part was that the owner lied to us about where the public accesses are when there is one beside their establishment and the place we were dropped off was public as well. We had our own inflatable kayak that was easy to transport and having heard that there were no nearby accesses we asked if there was any way that we could use our own and take their shuttle and they refused. The river was very slow and was not at all like a rapid it was more of a lazy river. The only positive thing about this experience was our shuttle driver who was honest with us about the access and was very kind.

Unfortunately, our recent trip with a group of six was extremely frustrating due to the organization and scheduling. Our original time slot was changed because there were not enough groups, which we understood. However, our new 10:20 time slot was expanded to accommodate additional groups, and we were then required to wait an extended period for a very large group that arrived late. As a result, we did not begin rafting until after 12:15, and the safety review had to be rushed because of the delay. Throughout the trip, our group was repeatedly forced to stop and wait for the late group, who frequently fell out of their raft and struggled to follow the safety instructions. I estimate we spent close to an hour collectively waiting along the river. Even the group scheduled after ours eventually passed us, and we did not return to the bus until shortly after 5:00. I want to emphasize that Olivia, Bailey, Kristen, and Sid were excellent guides and did their best under difficult circumstances. My frustration is entirely with the organization and scheduling of the trip. Additionally, while this was outside of anyone's control, we paid for Class II and III rapids, but the river flow that day was approximately 820 CFS, making the experience much closer to Class I and II. I hope you will take this feedback seriously, as this experience was significantly different from the positive experiences that led me to book with White Water Challengers again.

Last time we did…read moredam release which was fun (although I wish they'd let you out once to swim- you get hot doing all the work!); this time we brought some younger family and tried the easier family rapids- which ended up being more fun than we thought it would be. It was pretty much a 4 hour water gun fight (you must rent the water cannons- essential) with swim spots too, and the hot dog/pbj lunch was a sufficient and quick re-fuel. The staff was all nice, and the other families really getting in on the water gun fights made it fun (the pirates really only attacked the middle of the group on our trip- but they did interact while waiting to leave). The only thing I was disappointed in was that last time they gave us a heads up on where the picture would be taken, and this time they did not. Two of our group members had a photo of the back of their heads, which stinks, because I like to get the photo. Other than that, really nice day.

Our guides Meghan, Jack and Ely made this a very memorable experience. Their professional attitude, experience knowledge and customer interaction were outstanding to say the least. After checkin you are provided with fitted life vests and then given a 15 minute safety lecture regarding raft safety and etiquette. After a 20 minute bus ride to the entry point, you enter the raft and proceed down the Lehigh River. Amazing picturesque scenery with mild rapids for the family style tour. Several areas along this 8 mile adventure they allowed swimming. water was cold (60 ish) but refreshing. At the midway point an unexpected complimentary lunch was provided consisting of Hot Dogs, PB&J sandwiches, Chips, Macaroni Salad, Fruit and drinks. Very good selection and served by another great crew. Very clean and well organized. I would highly recommend Pocono Whitewater. Super clean bathrooms, newly added changing rooms, foot washing station, gift shop and very well priced snack bar including beer. Can't wait to return. Unless you are medically unfit, you can do this. Exceptional customer service sums up the team at Jim Thorpe River Adventures (aka LOC). They are extremely well organized which makes for a great trip. Everyone from the moment you enter LOC until the very end was polite, professional and wanted to make sure you have a great time. Some tips to follow: you only need to arrive 15 minutes before your group time, this allows ample time to get situated. Buy their pre-made lunch, it is well worth the 10 bucks, bring extra water on the raft (especially in the summer). Use the bathroom before you get on the bus (and be quick). They give you a dry bucket for your lunch and items, yes you can bring your phone in a dry pouch. Wear a hat and a sun shirt, it is hot and sunny, without much shade. Jump in the water when you have the chance !! If you are a "full figured" person it will be difficult to re-enter the raft, be aware. The trip down river is very safe and well organized. The guides are VERY safety aware ! If you are nervous and listen to them, the team will get you down the river without a hitch ! A few suggestions: don't go on a busy holiday weekend, it can get crowded on the river, the safety briefing takes a long time and you a sitting in the sun (remove your vest and drink water), during July and August I would imagine the water is very low and slow (if it is a dry summer)...best only if you want to have a relaxing rafting trip. My experience form beginning to end was fantastic. I think one thing that seems to bother most people is the BBQ lunch. The BBQ lunch was apart of my package and when I arrived they were just loading the buns to be taken out on the river. I'm getting a little ahead of myself here but you'll understand in a minute. When I arrived, there were already several eager adventurous folks checking in, buying waterproof items for sale, collecting their water rafts and some even already on the water. I checked in with my Groupon and as directed, I left my keys - collected my Kayak and proceeded to the bus. Please note, the rule is, everyone must wear a mask until you're actually on the water; great rule as it gets crowded in the shop as well as on the bus. It keeps everyone safe. I chose the kayak experience which was awesome but the real fun is in a tube. After my journey down the river, I immediately purchase another Groupon just so that I could come back and have a tubing experience. So, back to the BBQ lunch. By the time I paddles my way down (a few signs for the waters edge for direction) to the BBQ shack on the water, they were still setting up. I guess I paddle too fast. I decided to keep moseying down the river as I had already packed a lunch just in case after reading the reviews about the BBQ shack not being up and running. Oh well, next time I'll enjoy a burger. Again, this is the perfect mid week escape. The ride outside of NY is quick and there's plenty of parking. Although it says Delaware tubing it's actually located in New Jersey; well at least the border between the two. I would recommend going early and taking as much time as you like in a tube with family and friends. I would also recommend bringing children as they will develop a lifelong love of being on the water. I'm a big fan now and I can't wait to return in a few weeks. P.S. I was told by my bus driver, they offer a fall foliage experience where they only allow kayaks on the river.
