I have had a wonderful experience with the Goddard staff and teachers since we first joined the Rockville (King Farm) location 4 years ago. The staff is wonderful and has worked so hard to make the school and the programs better and better with each passing year. They are kind and clear and I've come to really enjoy seeing their smiling faces in the morning. The teachers my two sons have had have all been amazing, unique and passionate and when my children are with them, my mind is at ease. My older son - who has recently rejoined the school for "Summer Camp" with some of his buddies - did the kindergarten program last year as a Farmer with Mr. Juan and he went into his current school so well prepared in both reading and math that he was able to focus on the other huge changes that come with switching schools. I feel so lucky that my children have been able to start their educational journeys at this amazing place. Thank you! read more

My family has had a fantastic experience with Goddard Rockville's infant daycare (4 months in). There are many days when I walk into the infant room and my little guy is belly laughing with the teachers. I love Goddard's use of the Tadpoles app where I get daily pictures and updates about sleep and activities like the babies going for a ride outside in the buggy, playing with bubbles, reading circle etc. I couldn't imagine better teachers, there are two for the six infants and there's a shift change midday. They're all extremely capable and work a lot to help develop motor skills (i.e. encourage tummy time, sitting, crawling). They care so much about the babies and clearly love their job. It's such a relief to have a safe and loving place to drop our guy off at everyday! Great care is expensive, but it's worth it for my family. My son has been going here since infancy and is now in preschool. The teachers are great and the activities are great. He is very good at his letters and numbers and can even read a few words by now. He also speaks very well for his age. I attribute a lot of it to the quality of the education he is getting at Goddard. While he is not perfectly well-behaved he is generally empathetic which I believe he is also learning there. The teachers genuinely know and like him. When I ask them how he is doing or talk about a particular issue it's always a productive conversation and we get strategies for things we can do at home. The only problem is that the administrative side of things is not always 100% on the ball: you really have to keep on top of it and double-check that your child is registered for things, signed up for the lunch program, etc. read more

When we first visited the school for an Open House, we walked to the desk and Jennifer acted offended by our presence. I was confused and thought maybe I had gotten the date wrong; but, she confirmed that they were indeed having one. Her attitude pretty much never improved. We were soon met by the Director, Genevieve. She took us to the three classes our son could potentially be in for us to observe. Each class has its own flavor. Impressed by the few minutes of what we saw, we placed him in what I think is called Orioles. His first day was actually horrible. He did not want to go back. I knew something was amiss immediately when my husband brought him home because he acted very quiet. When i took him upstairs for a bath, I realized he had dried diarrhea in his underwear. After some questions, he told me that he had a stomachache all day and kept going back and forth to the bathroom. He had bad gas and an accident and the children were teasing him for being smelly. No one ever called me to let me know he was sick. I was very upset that this was his first introduction to a school environment: teasing and bullying. My husband first talked to his teacher who had said he kept having gas and going into the bathroom. Yet no one thought hm maybe he has a stomach virus we should call his parents. My husband called Genevieve and at first she was defensive but later discovered that what he said was true. This all was a red flag. We kept him out of school the rest of the week and the night before he went back, he was crying uncontrollably because he did not want to go. We had always planned to find him a school that was pre-k to at least middle school so around that time we also started hunting again. We found one we liked and that's when their true colors really showed. We needed a teacher recommendation and to make a long story short, Genevieve tried to say that my son is "delayed" which she is in no place to determine. He has been around medical professionals and no one has ever made that determination. In fact, we have been told he is bright. I am not sure what they were trying to achieve but it really left a bad taste in my mouth. He came to the school knowing his letters, being able to write some of them, knowing shapes, colors, numbers, etc. As he stayed their, his knowledge began to regress. When you put a child in an environment which tries to label them, they will begin to act that out. This just was not the place for us. I think this is more of a daycare than a preschool first of all. I also feel as though their perspective on education is more aligned with children preparing for public school. They aren't fostering a love of learning but rather trying to check off boxes. I also did not feel comfortable with his teachers and their attitude towards my husband and I. Something was very off about it. They also would not stop commenting about how he had been home with me. He is only 4. They act like he was a teenager and had yet to go to school. Furthermore, it is not all that uncommon for families in this area to forego daycare settings and place their children in preschool. Yesterday was his last day and his teacher pretended like she did not know even though she was the one who had told him he wouldn't be coming back. Another boy was also having his last day and apparently they acknowledged it for that child but not mine. Just overall distasteful. Only send your child here if you're desperate. read more

We have two children at Goddard: my son started as a 2 year old, and his younger sister as an infant. Between the two of them, we have experienced classes at all age levels within the school (and most of the various classrooms!). We first came to Goddard after a negative experience at another nearby center landed my son in hospital. First, and by far most importantly, we feel safe there. Goddard has the processes, structures and disciplines to keep children safe, especially now during the coronavirus pandemic. We have been very impressed by the lengths to which they go to keep the children safe. Beyond that, however, they have created a kind, nurturing environment in which my children are thriving, emotionally, socially and academically. The program is comprehensive and so much fun the kids don't even realize they are learning! When the pandemic hit, my son was completing pre-K, and the school was able to work with families to create an in person kindergarten option, for which we have been incredibly grateful, and has been a truly wonderful experience so far. It's stuff like this where they do work with families to understand our needs and challenges and adapt the program that make being part of the Goddard family worthwhile. They aren't the cheapest child care in the area, but you really do get what you pay for and it's worth every penny. read more

COVID has been a very difficult time for everyone. Being considered a essential healthcare worker has made it stressful especially when thinking about childcare. The Goddard school in Rockville has been an absolute lifesaver.The moment that I contacted them, the Goddard school was prompt, thorough, and so welcoming. I was really nervous choosing a school without ever setting a foot on the campus but the virtual visit put my mind at ease. Even on the first day of school I knew that I made the right decision to send my son. We love this school! My older child just started kindergarten in the newly opened classroom and the quality of education is top notch with a special emphasis on gaining independence. She also did preK and pre school here and such a positive experience in all classrooms. I also have an toddler who started here as an infant and the teachers are amazing! His vocabulary is exploding thanks to all the hard work his teachers put in. They love our children utterly and to me that is the most important. If you look around, this may be a marginally more expensive center in the area but like everything else you get what you pay for. I'm saying that based on my daughter attending another center close by that was a hair cheaper but the two experiences aren't even comparable. I was impressed with the curriculum, which included Spanish and Mandarin lessons as well as basic science such as the parts of plants. We love Goddard! When I pick up my daughter she tells me her day was not just good - it was INCREDIBLE! She loves her teachers and I love that she's happy and tired at the end of each day, haha. The administration is kind, responsive, and always available if we have any questions. The teachers are attentive and listen to the students. I can't speak highly enough of this Goddard School. When our son was about to turn two we had to find a school unexpectedly. We were probably going to send him when he turned three. We looked at many in the area. I immediately was impressed with how clean and organized the school was and this was pre Covid. I was so terrified to send my son to a day care and have him be sick all of the time. This never happened! He immediately started to talk up a storm and you could see how much he was learning. Everything happens for a reason and we are so glad he wound up at Goddard. My son just turned 4 and loves his current class so much. He comes home and teaches us everything he learned in class that day. He loves learning Chinese and his vocabulary continues to grow. I can't imagine the stress a teacher feels right now going to work during the current climate. I can tell you our children are not feeling that from the teachers. My 2-year old daughter has been enrolled at Goddard for 4 months. So far, our family's experience has been very positive. 1. My child has two wonderful teachers. They warmly greet us with a big smile every day. I see them comfort sad kids with genuine affection and appropriately chide naughty kids with patience. They allow individual self-directed play, where a dozen toddlers laugh, yell, and run around exploring the classroom. It's wild and fun, yet the teachers remain in control and appear at ease. They seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs, which makes sense, as they have both worked at the school for many years. I trust them completely. 2. It's a great group of kids, who are fun and joyful. I notice this when I walk by the other classrooms too. It just feels like a happy place in a way that I haven't felt when I've visited other daycares. My daughter has great friends among her peers and seems to have made good strides socially since starting at Goddard. Just from pick-up and drop-off, I've gotten to know some of the kids myself. As I walk in, sometimes I receive a heartwarming greeting from a tiny mob. 3. It's a lovely space. The sizable classrooms have nice windows and doors leading directly outside. The school has multiple enclosed playgrounds, so when the weather is nice, it's easy for the class to have spontaneous outdoor time. Inside, the classroom is filled with toys and art supplies that are kept clean and orderly. 4. Most importantly, I can tell my child is happy. In the morning, she is enthusiastic about her routine and drop-offs are usually painless. Today, they had a moon bounce set-up outside, and the kids were literally screaming with joy as they played. It was a beautiful thing to listen to as I walked to my car and headed off to work. The only downside is cost. Tuition is very expensive - including fees, we pay about $1,900 per month for full-time care 5-days per week. If you feel like you can afford it, I think it's worth it. read more

We absolutely love this school. My son has been here for 2.5 years and transitioned through three different classrooms (at 2yo, 3.5yo and 4.5yo). This wasn't our first school- we started at a daycare before this and weren't impressed with the quality or education. We started looking and toured this Goddard school. When we walked out of Goddard KF my husband said, "Let's go back in and take that spot before it goes." We did and we've never regretted it! Every penny has been well worth it to see my son make friendships, learn amazing things and increase his vocabulary exponentially (when he started he was very behind). We also love that his teachers hug him and say they love him (Miss Natalie is the kindest person I know!!) The teachers spend time at the tables with the kids, they give them their full attention when a child is talking. The technology is well above what I expected and the security and oversight makes me feel 100% comfortable leaving my son there. I will be very sad when we have to leave Goddard for public school. Some specific things I love: the amount of outdoor time they get and the huge windows in their classrooms. The Tadpoles app that sends me photos and updates throughout the day!! The free play and creative play every single day. The staff, the field trips (omg the field trips!!!) and the classroom visitors. The wonderful office staff that is super responsive. Jenn, Gigi, Courtney- you all are wonderful! The 4-5yo classroom has a computer, iPads, the Promethean board, so many toys and centers. They have pizza day which my son absolutely lives for. Splash day every week in the summer, weekly field trips, parent volunteers, etc etc. This Spring, the class hatched eggs. After they hatched in the classroom, we were able to volunteer to take the class pet (BABY CHICKS) home for the night (!!!) and my son has been talking about it for months. The class went to a farm and went crawdad fishing. They went to the trampoline place. They went bowling, to a splash park, they had a gemstone truck come and let the children sift for gemstones. And this is just the past couple of months! It's adventure after adventure. What's not to love?! Goddard is the ultimate in fun, safety and education. I have entrusted The Goddard school Rockville with both of my kids over the past four years. The school has been a savior to us, especially during Covid, as our babysitter quit and the public schools refuse to open. The classrooms are clean, stocked with new toys and learning activities, and have secure access to their private, updated playground and garden. The highly educated teachers provide a nurturing, loving environment and the administrators run the school with professionalism and care about putting in 100% every day. The Covid protocol now includes daily temperature checks, a mask requirement, and Halo sanitizing equipment in addition to regular cleaning and UV light toy cleaning. After visiting and interviewing 30 preschools in the area, we are so happy to have found Goddard. I regularly drive 20 minutes out of my way, twice a day to send my kids to this school. read more

I have two children in The Goddard school. My 4 year old & my infant. We've had our 4 year old enrolled since he was 3 months old (thanks only industrialized country without guaranteed leave! You're swell!) and have many years of experience with the ranges of classes at this school, and can very happily and enthusiastically recommend this school. When we started looking at daycares 5 years ago, we had our pick of multiple locations around this area, and Goddard really stood out above all of them. There were three main things that separated Goddard from the other places. First, they're very focused on learning and enrichment. There's no paying extra to teach your kid math. I laughed out loud when one school/daycare told us learning was an extra cost. Yeah, hard pass on that attitude. Our infant is being taught basic sign language for "more" and "bottle", and our 4 year old comes home every day with stories about his friends and how much fun he had in art/science/reading/etc and tells us random facts about a wide variety of things. It's pretty awesome. Secondly, the spaces at Goddard are wonderful. One place we looked at was dark and noisy when we visited. I commented on it, and they laughed at me, saying 90% of the kids were on a field trip and that this was nothing. Yiiiiiikes. In stark contrast, Goddard is in a pleasant quiet neighborhood surrounded by trees. They have large green grassy areas, complete with some small learning gardens and nicely maintained playground equipment. The rooms are bright and sunny and spacious with lots of welcoming decorations. Lastly, the staff is fantastic. Everyone is super friendly and caring and kind. Since we've had kids there since the beginning of time, there's been some changes staff-wise in the main office, but the teachers have mostly remained the same, so we're leaving our infant with people we've known for years. Everyone there really cares about the kids and it shows. We get regular updates on concerns, milestones, random hilarious anecdotes, and if an issue arises, I never have any qualms about bringing it up, because again, everyone is so kind and approachable. We've had a few things come up here and there over the years, but every time we're taken seriously, and our issues are always resolved quickly to the best of their abilities. In addition to the above, Goddard has a lot of nice little things that really add up and make it a great overall experience - regular scholastic book fairs, a monthly parent's night out on a weekend, school wide events like a fall festival and summer splash party, field trips for older kids, the Tadpoles app where I get cute pictures every day & a description of their day, an optional SmartLunches program, pizza lunch days, teacher appreciation days, holiday parties in the classrooms, charity drives, and active parent teacher organization and probably about 8 other great things I'm forgetting. The only downside - It's very pricy like all daycares around here. We could buy three mansions in Nebraska for what it costs, but it's worth it a million times over - you really get what you pay for. Plus, the commute from Nebraska sounds dreadful. Overall, I'm super happy we found this place, and anticipate them caring for our kids for many more years! read more

Horrible. Quality education does not work in a franchise model. My daughter was so excited to attend this school, but within a week she was in tears pleading with me to stay home. My main complaint about the school is the lack of focus on the student development. My wife and I talked to the school about our daughter's need to be challenged in class and personal attention. While we were promised all these things, none of them were delivered. As a result my daughter became frustrated - she was a strong communicator, and most of the kids in her class couldn't even speak. As a bonus, she was bitten by another student. I'm not sure if that was a result of large class sizes or the ridiculous student to teacher ratios, but the school director basically shrugged and said "oh well". These things may have been forgivable in a public school, but for a private school this is simply unacceptable. Luckily there are other alternatives out there - we took both of our kids to Lone Oak in Bethesda, which has been terrific. read more

Be careful whatever contract you signed with them, because some important terms are hidden in long paragraphs. I paid registration fees plus first month payment (over $2300) to reserve a spot 4 months before enrollment. They never gave me a copy of the contract and receipt then. We changed our plan and noticed them 2 months before enrollment. Then they said even we noticed them early, all payments are still forfeited. I never heard of such an unfair policy. read more

Our toddler loves Goddard! She runs to the gates every day and barely pauses to say goodbye to us - she just can't wait to see her teachers and friends! All of the teachers and staff know her by name, which makes the school really feel like a community and not just different layers of classes. I especially love the caring teachers, the amount of time kids get to spend outdoors, art projects, and enrichment classes. Our four year old daughter started at the Goddard School @ Kings Farm in September. My wife and I spent most of the summer looking for a Pre-K program that would fit her needs. After looking at several other schools, we visited the Goddard School.Courtney provided us with a tour and in-depth information regarding the classes, the school vision and mission and the curriculum. Our daughter had been in a home day-care environment for the last three and half years, thus we were a bit apprehensive about her transition. We started the year with a two days a week which we are now to three days a week. I cannot thank her teachers enough, Ms. Jamie and Ms. Kesha, who have helped her transition into the school and made her feel welcomed. From the minute we walkin, Jennifer greets with a friendly "Good Morning" and she has a warm demeanor and have embraced our daughter as part of their learning community. We look forward to our daily updates with a detailed summary of what she has learned and pictures showing her in action! We have only been at The Goddard School in King Farm for a month, but we could not be happier with our experience thus far! We had never put our 2-year-old twins in daycare until this year, and as first-time parents, we were very nervous about the transition. The entire staff at Goddard could not have been nicer, answering all of our questions at length and reassuring us constantly. In less than a month's time, our girls have come to LOVE Goddard. Their teachers are so kind, caring, and attentive to their individual personalities and needs (which is really key when you have identical twins!) The staff is so nice and never minds when I call (again, and again, and again...!) to check in on the girls. The facilities are beautiful; it is a pleasure to pick them up and drop them off every day. And the curriculum is top notch. I am consistently impressed by the daily progress reports we get that detail all of the things our kids did that day and include many adorable pictures of our girls. It is so nice to have a record of their day so we can talk to them and feel connected. In short, there are so many schools we looked at, but we are THRILLED with our decision to attend Goddard. If you are going to leave your children in the care of anyone, you want it to be with people who are as kind, competent, enthusiastic, and responsible as everyone in this building. They treat our kids as beautifully as I could have ever imagined. It makes me feel so confident and safe as I drive away each day, knowing they are in the best hands possible. read more

We had an awesome experience sending our son to Goddard. The providers were always warm and friendly, and gave great updates of our son's activities during the school day. Their website additionally gave us more information about the day-to-day curriculum, making it easy for us to refresh what he learnt at home. The providers also were very affectionate toward our son that it almost felt that he was getting one-on-one attention from them. My DD has been going here since she was an infant and has loved it. The quality of the facilities has been great and the teachers are kind and nurturing. They really make the place special. We've had some issues but nothing that compromised basic care or safety, which they take very seriously. In each case, we've worked with the school to find solutions and they have worked it out. We have recommended this place to friends, neighbors, etc. and will continue to do so. As we would anywhere, we will continue to be vigilant and if things seem to not be working, we will look for alternatives. But so far we've very happy here and see no reason to move. read more

The Goddard School @ King Farm is without a doubt the best environment and experience for a young child. Not only is the owner very concerned about the well being of the children but is always looking into the most modern and current best practices in child care. The teachers at this school have such kind hearts and show so much patience with their classes. The activities scheduled throughout the day keep the kids interested and excited throughout the day. The teachers are also armed with iPads and document your child's day and even send videos or pics of your child, which in my case puts a smile on my face seeing my son so happy. My two year old is so well adjusted and social because of the care he gets each and everyday at the school. There is no doubt in my mind that Goddard is the only place a young child should go to have the best opportunity to succeed. This school is more concerned about the business than the care of the children. My child's development seems to be disregarded and if given the opportunity the staff will not make an effort. The owner is never there and the administrative director will claim it is not her fault?!? Not sure what that means as a response when trying to unravel a small situation (ex: child's soiled clothing being left in class for over a week and then found and given to us). The staff is friendly but if you have an issue or concern that makes them work then the smiles go away. I would recommend all families to be careful because once you are affiliated with the school you are made to feel like you can not leave. They capitalize on convenience and fall very short in care for children. The school is good at boosting about programs and then when staff is light on any given day then the programs are done quickly or skipped. Having a consistent main teacher is also an issue the school has but does not disclose to families. Our class this year alone has had over 4 main teachers come and go. Worst daycare we have ever tried. Lead teacher Ms. Mychal is very impatient and almost a bully to kids. My kid was excited before starting there and just in a couple of weeks cried in tears every morning begging to stay home. She also said Ms. Mychal yelled at them a lot for no apparent reasons. School has no preparation for taking new kids in (i.e. , teachers unaware of us going there, no cubbies prepared for kid to store clothes and sheets). This daycare is ok but I have never used a daycare that has so many day offs during the year. Every couple of months they have a "teacher in training" days where school is closed. It is a joke!!! Tuition costs a fortune. In july for example, we had to stay with the kids at home for 5 days straight because they had 2 days off around july 4th. If the owner wants to give the teachers days off he should hire more teachers and stop taking advantage of the parents. Why teachers on daycare who take care of 1-5 years old need 2 training days every couple of months?? read more

Horrible experience. My son was kicked out of this school because by nature he is very active and hyper and they expect all children to be super quiet and focused. I was rudely told that my son has "behavior problems", however teachers in the next daycare he went didn't have any issues with him. My impression is that for Goddard school it easier to get rig of the child than work with him to incorporate him in their environment. Maybe it is ok for a quiet and concentrated kids, but not for a active, athletic children. read more

My 2 kids were in this school for the past 1 year. I took them out last fall due to several reasons. 1. The owner of this school lives in California. The day-to-day operation is left to a few low level staff. 2. The school cancels classes very often due to minimal to no snow. You just need a little bit of snow or icy threat and they close. 3. They take the full week between christmas and new year off. YES! YOU HEARD RIGHT. On your dime, they take off! Again, my colleagues are shocked! All other daycares are off for christmas only and work the other days. So, imagine all the money you pay for them (it is top money, check their rates which go up every year) and so many days off through out the year. 4.
