We have purchased a refrigerator and an oven from Gold Star. The appliances sold to us seem to be fine so far. The fly in the ointment is the installation. When our oven was installed by their installer, the gas line was crimped causing a very slight, barely detectable gas leak. It took a while for us to notice it and then it cost us $1800 to get it fixed. Gold Star refused to help with any of the cost. In hindsight, I wish we had gotten our appliances from some other company that backs up the installation of their products. read more

We looked for a company that had Monogram ovens and cooktops on display, and lucked into finding Gold Star. Raul Ortiz helped us, and was fantastic. Unlike Nebraska Furniture Mart, Goldstar had a working display of the stove top, and Raul gave us a full demonstration. We ended up buying all of our appliances for our home build through Raul. He gave us a deal that couldn't be beat elsewhere, and even came in on Sunday (the store is normally closed), to pick up the check! If you're like us, and you get frustrated by the poor service at large box stores, please give these guys a shot, and ask for Raul. read more

Stay away from Gold Star Appliance. Purchased, paid in full, a dishwasher and they we going to hold it for me while work was being done on the house due to the freeze and broken water pipes. When time came for delivery all of a sudden they didn't have my dishwasher. In other words, they sold me a dishwasher, took my money, then sold it to someone else. The owner, Todd doesn't return messages and the sales manager might be on some kind of work release program from jail - or at least should be IMO. So, if you want to give them your money and get nothing in return go to Gold Star. BUT if you actually want the appliance then go somewhere else. read more

My parents were in need of a new refrigerator when theirs died during the Covid-19 shelter-in-place guidelines. We found a GE one we liked, but we made the mistake of ordering it online from one of the "big box" stores. My family waited a week for delivery and -- here's the kicker -- the installer showed up ready to (1) remove the old refrigerator and (2) hook up the water/ice maker...but he didn't have the refrigerator! Confused, the installer called his own "big box" people, who were super rude to the him, and call-center lady simply said that the refrigerator delivery was "rescheduled" (i.e., it was cancelled with no notice to my parents or to the installer). The absolute earliest we could get a refrigerator was six weeks out. Gold Star to the rescue! They helped my parents with an oven installation several years ago, and we should have gone to them first. Julia on the phone was kind and helpful. She found us a refrigerator that was almost the exact same my parents wanted, making sure the dimensions and details were accurate. Even better, we got it delivered the next day! The two installers complied with all CDC guidelines, removed the 25-year-old refrigerator, and installed the new one. The whole process took less than an hour. My family continues to be impressed with the quality and commitment of Gold Star Distributors. We will be using them again, and we recommend this local business without reservation. read more

I purchased a new double oven from Gold Star distributors recently. The oven was installed and about 10 minutes after the installers left the entire oven went black. I called the office the next day and told them the situation and asked for the installers to return. I was told the installers were very experienced and it must be something in my electrical. After talking to them they said they would try to find someone to come out and look at the situation, but again it must be my electrical. After a few days when I called back I was told that a repair person was scheduled to come in 10 days. After being told twice it must be my electrical, I called an electrician to examine the situation. They inspected and determined that wires at the back of the oven were disconnected. they simply had to connect the wires and the oven has worked ever since. They told me they had done this type of call behind Gold Star before where the wires were poorly connected. Since Gold Star told me it was electrical and actually it was the fault of the installers-I sent the bill to Gold Star and have never been paid. Not happy and will not return. read more

Wow, horrible customer service and poorly designed showroom. I love supporting local businesses but I can't get behind these folks. The receptionist /greeter sits in a corner of the showroom way far away from the door and when you finally find her ahe just tells you that she cannot help you and you need to wait for the next available sales rep. Once you get a sales rep they tell you something on their website that you came to get a price on is no longer available...UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE!!! After 20 years our GE Monogram went out. Instead of a new compressor ($1400+) we shopped for a new replacement. Found exact same floor model at Goldstar. It went out after a month. GE repair could not get parts to fix for 3 weeks and did not communicate at all. We decided to send it back. I asked Goldstar for a suggestion. Waited. I finally researched a Bosch and bought it from Goldstar. They had to order, took 2+ weeks. Scheduled a Saturday delivery but the only team working had something else personal to do that day. Waited until Monday. Goldstar was casual about it all. The manager says he deals with poor quality appliance issues everyday, which I believe. At least the Bosch is not made in China, which seems to produce 95% of the junk today. read more

From where I sit, your business doesn't really matter to Gold Star once they've got your money. It started out wonderfully - friendly, prompt service in person. Competitive, low pricing. Supporting a local business. But the customer service since the initial purchase has been ridiculous. I have no complaints about the amount of time it's taking my appliances to arrive - I believe that is out of their control. What is in their control is to call a customer back when they say they will, and to provide an update when they say they will. The ETA for my appliances has been pushed back at least four times since I originally purchased them. Each time when it gets close to the new estimated delivery date, I call my sales rep and politely ask for an update. And each time I'm told I will be called back in 10 minutes - and I never receive a return call. There's always an excuse to get off the phone with me and not answer this simple question. He's with a customer. He just got into work and needs to go look up the information. Sometimes it's the sales rep promising to call me back directly. More recently I spoke with a phone receptionist who assured me he would call me back with a more detailed update on my appliance delivery. This has been going on for nearly six months. All I want is a clear answer so I can update my family and my contractor who are waiting on the appliances to arrive so that we can finish our kitchen remodel. It's one thing to not return a call. It's another thing entirely to say you will call a customer back and not follow through. Just terrible. read more

This week I went in to buy a new washer and had a decent enough buying experience. I paid and scheduled delivery/install for a few days later 9am-12pm. I made sure to explicitly instruct the salesman that the machine needed to go into an upper apartment of a house, and I was told that the delivery people would call me 30min before arrival. I got a phone call after leaving the store with the rep saying that they forgot to charge me for delivery. I figured it was just a small hiccup, so I returned and paid the delivery fee. No problems. I took half a day off of work on the scheduled delivery/install day so I could be home at the time of delivery. All three hours roll past, with no phone call and no delivery made. I call the sales rep on my way to work, and apparently there was some miscommunication between him and the delivery people, and that the washing machine would be delivered that afternoon. Again, I was told I'd receive a call 30min before delivery. Luckily, my roommate would be home in time for delivery and install. A few hours later, I get a text from my roommate asking if I knew only one delivery person would show up. Apparently not only did Gold Star fail to communicate the correct scheduled delivery time, but they failed to call me 30min before delivery, and also apparently ignored my explicit warning that the delivery needed to be made to an upstairs location. So in the end, I paid a $40 delivery fee to have my roommate do half of the delivery and instillation work. I decided to buy from Gold Star due to their generally positive reviews and a desire to support a local business. I'll admit, this was a mistake. I lost out on half a day's pay due to the delivery miscommunication, and paid a delivery/installation fee only to find out my roommate had to do half the delivery/installation work himself. I wish my experience with Gold Star had gone better, but due to poor service and logistical ineptitude, I will not shop here again - nor can I in good conscience recommend this place to anyone else. You'll be better off with a place like Home Depot, Lowe's, or Best Buy. read more

We bought a kitchen aid from this place upon recommendation from them that it was one of the quietest ovens out there. We were doing a remodel were not able to hook up the oven until a month or so down the line. After two weeks of listening to the fan in the kitchen aid we did not wanted anymore and wished to exchange for the GE. They would not exchange it for us because they said they had only a two week return policy. What's the point of buying from brick and mortar if you don't have the option of exchanging more readily? Really frustrated with them. read more

Don't waste your time, this place is great at upcharging for service after you buy. They charge for Delivery $140.00 and install and then when they are on site there are more additional charges another $40.00, Go with the BIG boys i.e. Home Depot and Lowes for a better deal with no additional charges! read more

This is the worst place to go to. We came in looking for an ice maker and a subzero refrigerator and not one freaking person greeted us, not the front desk girl making a flower arrangement, not the salesman chewing gum who looked at us and even made eye contact and walked away, not the man shuffling papers by the Wolfe appliances, not the gofer who was stocking the water and not even the old man chewing a cigar, turning off lights at 3 in the afternoon. This store is completely unfriendly. Go somewhere else, spend those thousands of dollars elsewhere. Sadly, one star is too much for them. read more

Another walked in and out and no one even spoke to us. We then decided to leave. The receptionist sitting at the far end of the showroom just stared at us when we came in and when we left. BUYER BEWARE! Gold Starr subcontracts their delivery and installation, so if you have a problem, it is up to the customer and installer to work out their differences. We purchased kitchen appliances from Gold Star, and were quoted a price for delivery and installation. When the installer arrived, he wanted to charge us $120 more to "install" a stand alone range. Gold Star eventually sent another installer out with the appliances, and finally did the installation for the price asked, but we believe the first "installer" dinged our refrigerator because he didn't place the cardboard packing around the edges when reloading it into his trailer.. We reported the damage to a "manager" by the name of Todd, and all he would say was,"Thanks for letting us know" over and over. Customer service is very poor after the sale. I will never buy from this business again. read more

I purchased over $3,000 in appliances from this dealer in August, 2009. Nothing went smoothly. There was a complete foul-up on delivery. They told me that delivery and installation would be on a specific date. My kitchen update depended on delivery on that date as my contractor had scheduled other subs for work after the appliance install. They failed to deliver and never contacted me. Then the dishwasher was delived missing a bottom kick-plate and I have been calling ever since to get them to get me the missing part to no avail. Whenever I call they do not know who I am or why I am calling. There is a total lack of communications within their operations. I ended up canceling much of the order and purchasing from another source. These are NOT the people whom I would deal with ever again. read more

Great for us because we had guests from out of town coming to visit. The installers were professional and fast. They called 20 minutes before they arrived AND were in and out just as fast. Also took care to protect floors and counters from any damage. I am a committed customer now. read more

I walked in knowing exactly what I wanted. I passed two employees when first walking in only after I made eye contact with the second person did they ask me if I needed some direction. I could tell I distracted them from doing something else, as they were carrying a piece of paper. I named the product I was looking for, they lead me back to that location in the showroom. They pointed and laid a brochure on the counter top, indicating to me they possessed very little knowledge about the product, when asked a question regarding features, they referenced the brochure or asked their manager or another associate. note; they still have not introduced themselves or asked my name. I discovered the product I wanted but it was not a stocked item, they offered one from the showroom, which I agreed to although it was equipped with more features and priced higher than I wanted but agreed to it, in order to fit my tight schedule. We agreed on an installation time the next morning. Not until I completed paper work, paid and got his business card did I know his name and he know mine. Next day, the scheduled time came and went I waited 15 minutes after said time and called the store. The salesman was not in yet and I could tell their associate was a bit put out that they were not in yet too. She asked me to hold and remarkably my salesman picked up the phone to ask me what was up? "He had just learned the installer was delayed on a job the day before and had to go back to finish it up, therefore was going to be late getting to mine." Duh, was my thought. He offered no apology, and since he had just learned of this was going to call me back after speaking with the installer. I waited two hours before calling back (again) to find out the salesman was out again. I asked to speak with a manager they were not available and would not be until Monday. I left a message for the salesman. Again, when he called me back, his first comment/question to me was "what is going on?" I explained that I expected to know the new installation time by now, but he informed me that he had not spoke to the installer. I explained that in this day and time with cell phones there is no excuse for better communication. He has yet to offer an apology, although the installer did apologize twice. which I appreciated. Wrapping up here... I made alternate arrangements to accommodate the installers altered schedule and missed my son's baseball game in order to get the product installed. I can't say I would recommend Gold Star in Richardson. Although they are conveniently located, not worth the frustration I'm afraid. read more

There aren't enough compliments out there to give for the fantastic customer service I received from Gold Star Appliances & Lighting for my recent (May 2014) purchases of a dishwasher, gas range, over the counter microwave and refrigerator. Starting with Eldraidge Webster, our salesman, Kevin the installer and Frank Haberl, the manager it was a wonderful experience. We were replacing appliances that were 27 yrs old but still worked. Eldraidge listened to what we wanted in features and generally how much we wanted to spend because we had not compared prices at that time. We needed the delivery to be delayed a few weeks. He hit it out of the ballpark in all areas. Price - his first and only quote were the lowest prices compared to on-line sites, local retailers and even a realtor-based offer. The price quoted for delivery, installation, and removal was excellent. No hidden additional fees. Features - we got everything we asked for. Delivery - they were delivered when we needed them. Installation - Kevin and his assistant, Daniel, were professional, on time, careful, and thorough. The only hiccup was that only after one week, the dishwasher displayed an error message late on a Friday afternoon and wouldn't start. Frank, the manager, scheduled Kevin first thing Monday morning. Kevin determined that the dishwasher needed to be replaced with a new one. It was ready for installation just two days later! And Gold Star replaced it with a model that was $300 more at no extra charge. An excellent experience overall! read more
