Don't let the outside fool you because once you open the door it's so worth the stop. We have heard so many great things about The Golden Hive. I love that their candles are all slow burn. They have your plain/basic candles as well as so many different design options. So great for gifts and many more, They also sell blocks of beeswax for use on wood etc. the shop is small, but so many options to see. Service was friendly and she was able to answer any questions we had. read more

I purchased a beeswax candle from The Golden Hive in Phoenix at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market and it is beautiful. The woman at the farmers market booth was super sweet and helpful. She patiently answered all of my questions. I was looking for the longest-burning candle to use as a memorial candle and ended up buying a large cylindrical candle. Once I got it home and lit it, I fell in love immediately. It burns a soft, warm light and smells delicious (like honey - though the fragrance is very slight). I love the soft glow. It's burned down a few inches now and hasn't dripped down the sides, which I appreciate. It seems like the wax is being used and not wasted like with other candles. Now I want these candles all over my house. They are gorgeous and I'm grateful to have found a beautiful memorial candle and source for all kinds of other sustainable, earth-friendly candles for my home. I also purchased the "Bee Well" honey/propolis/royal jelly and have been eating 1/4-1/2 tsp a day to improve my immune system while I was feeling like I might be catching a cold. You can have your goose that lays golden eggs, I'll take some bees that make honey from a golden hive! This tiny little shop has delicious locally made honey and adorable beeswax candles. Samples are freely given and I was really intrigued with some of their unique varieties such as blackberry honey. Service was very friendly and nice. read more

Please stop into this amazing shop if you're visiting Flagstaff. Many regulars came in while we were there too! Nice to see such support! Tracy is the owner and has everything under the sun a bee buzzes! From many different types of honey ( including organic) to skincare and supplements and so much more! One thing that caught our eye was the bees wax candles. Lots of different shapes and sizes. Beautiful flower shapes, animals and hand dipped taper candles. There are also many colored sheets of bees wax you can select to make your own rolled candles. Tracy help our girls pick out and make their own unique candles. She had a work place in back & demonstrated how to cut, mold and wick each piece. Tracy was extremely knowledgeable & kind. We ended up making 4 candles out of one sheet! Also, picked up a great supplement called Royal Jelly Caps. Cute concept, health & healing- a fun shop! Hometown hospitality that was well appreciated. read more

Such a cute honey store absolutely LOVE the cinnamon honey it's family run very cute got to meet the owner and her daughter and overall amazing experience. Their balms are absolutely yo die for the bee balm felt amazing on my skin! And not to mention the free samples of honey, my personal favorite was the meadow foam honey tasted like marshmallows and root beer! read more

While visiting Flagstaff for the day we came across this super cute little bee wax store "The Golden Hive" (such a cool name) I was delighted with all the great and creative products the owner has. She offers a big selection of candles all naturally made, as well as a variety of honeys (free samples) and natural beauty products. I wish this cute store was located in my home town Phoenix because I would be there everday shopping, but luckily the owner offers an online store (yaayy). This is a hidden gem in the downtown Flagstaff area and a place to stop by and check out while visiting. read more

Such a cute little shop, easily one of my favourite places in flagstaff! The owners are so nice, she gave us a tour of the shop and showed us how to make the candles! Have not been to the shop, although their wares certainly warrant a trip someday from L.A. to Flagstaff. My friend Don Fanning has sent me two gift boxes of goodies, first being the excellent and creamy Flagstaff Wildflower Raw Honey. This is the best honey for spreading on toast or English muffins with hot butter, and my roommates have just about eaten it all up. Smooth, clean, fresh-tasting stuff with no depressing changes in its texture over time (which ruins a lot of honey products for me). This stuff is even delicious on rye, which isn't bread for the sweet tooth. The second box contained the prettiest candle I've ever seen in my life. the surface is all little, ecru-colored rosettes. It looks like a perfect cake decorating masterclass product, and I'm not looking forward to the day when I will set it afire. (All I can say is that he'd better be worth it, whoever he will be.) It's just so delicate, so pretty, and right now it's staying in its cute little busy bee gift bag for protection. Its scent is markedly milder and different from another beeswax candle sent to me from Latvia, of all places. I also have the Bee Well Elixer, which I haven't delved into yet, but as soon as I finish a series of meds for my sinus, I will give this a go, as I would prefer taking supplements over saline irrigation any day. It contains raw honey, bee pollen, organic royal jelly, and propolis, all in a generous 6.5 ounce jar, which should last me a while, as it only requires 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon a day. Finally, I've cracked open the propolis healing ointment, necessitated by a new pest in the L.A. area: ankle-biter mosquitos. These little monsters attack us in our sleep in the early hours, and their bites are especially itchy. They also aren't particular about where they bite, as they've been feasting on my calves and knees, so this ointment is getting the try-out right now. Here's to dispatching the itch, hastening the healing, and bonus points: it's not greasy or sticky, so I don't have to wipe or wash my fingers after applying it. I hate having messy ointments on my skin, so the consistency of the stuff already rates an A plus. Thank you, Don, and thank you to The Golden Hive! read more
