I've been looking forward to playing this course for over a week since I called and booked the tee time as soon as they opened up. I drove an hour to get here and was told that the pro shop that they did not have my booking and they were able to get me on in 3 hours. The gentleman, the pro shop was not rude, but said "this happened to another guy". I will not return here, my advice would be to book the tee time online if you decide to play here. This is the worst golf course in dallas. The fairways are some of the worst I've seen and the they couldn't care less about the greens. We hit a ball that's wasn't OB but the person living in one of the houses cussed us out because we were close to their property line but weren't on it. Granted they barely spoke proper english but I've never been chased off the rough. $105 is highway robbery. read more

Would rate this zero stars if I could. Truck was stolen on Saturday 12/14/2024 from their parking lot. Security guard was watching Netflix on his phone and their cameras do not work. Shit area of town so they weren't even surprised when I reported it as stolen at the pro shop before calling the police. Without blinking an eye they pulled out a form for me to fill out like this happens all the time. Garbage business. read more

The course is not in bad shape except that several bridges have been closed for several months now with no sign of repairs being made. This makes for a nuisance having to detour through other fairways, etc. to get to the green or your ball. Also, it was $70 on Saturday morning and the greens had been aerated recently. Most courses don't charge full price and they at least let you know when making a reservation that the greens are areated. The course has potential to be a really nice course with a little maintenance. Tee boxees are well groomed and greens aren't bad. There isa lot of unmown rough which cost a lot of lost balls. This is an old school course and it has a nice layout but in my opinion is overpriced in its current state. read more

The greens were in good shape, but the course itself was just okay. The pro shop and driving range leave a lot to be desired. I drove about 45 minutes to play this course because I had never played it before and wanted to check it out. I was a bit disappointed. It's fine if you live local, but I probably won't be playing here again anytime soon. read more

Great Old style golf course. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. Greens rolled very true. Friendly staff. The only reason it did not rate 5 stars was the condition of the clubhouse and locker room. Very dated, stained carpets, and giant holes in ceilings. Good course to play with friends, but would not host a Corporate event there because of poor interior conditions. read more

The golf club in its entirety is pretty nice. My sister has reservations for her graduation party her so my mom and I stopped by to look at the room so we decided to have lunch here. It was a decent lunch but the fruit tray that I got was overpriced. It isn't somewhere I'd specifically go back to just for lunch but if you're interested in golfing, it's a whole different experience. read more

Very people know how wonderful this place is. A crown jewel in Oak Cliffs crown that has been forgotten by the general public. The restaurant is open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week. You DO NOT have to be a member to eat there. The portions are generous and the food is good. Have your next meeting, reception there as the kitchen can feed 400 people at once. The chef has been there 25 years and the main waiter for 19! read more

My first impression, when I pulled into the parking lot, was that this place looked busted and old. My second impression completely shattered my first. Don't get me wrong, from the front, that building needs some paint and a lot of TLC to make it look welcoming. That said, after walking around to the pro shop, and getting my first look at the course, I was happy with what I saw: The course looked to be in good condition. The practice green was in good shape and the driving range was open. (Thumbs up for all that.) The course itself was challenging: -I really liked the layout. The fairways were well tended. Missing fairways had me looking for balls swallowed by first cuts of grass that were just tall enough to swallow my ball. But that first cut was soft enough that I could make some smart choices on approaches. I only felt comfortable with my driver on the par 5s and one or two of the par 4s. -The GCoD made me work my bag and I like courses that are like that. -Lots of sloping left and right fairways, elevated greens with greenside bunker placements that I found way too often. (Just one of those days. You know how it goes. Right?) -Sneaky little hazards that don't seem very threatening until a downward breeze pushes the ball into them. -As for the greens. The pins didn't need to be hidden because the challenges were the speeds and breaks of each hole. -The water buckets they had were full with Ice Cold Water! So grateful for that. I look forward to playing this course again and then, again, having lunch at Lisa's Fine Food and Catering on Redbird. (Yep, right down the street.) That was the perfect ending to a great day of golf, and fellowship, with good friends. read more

Two cars were broken into today in the main parking lot. The rear windows were shattered. Both incidents were reported to the management whose response was - "there is nothing we can do". Actually, there is something they can do. Being in a high crime neighborhood, the Golf Club of Dallas could provide security for the parking lots. Be aware - if you go here and drive a relatively nice vehicle, you may have your windows smashed. read more

Very poor greens. Over cut and then painted to look like they actually had grass. Wouldn't waste my money here again.

Service was fantastic. We got caught behind a twosome that played four balls per hole... Pretty annoying. Loved the course, great layout. Attendant comes out to clean your clubs while you're putting on the eighteenth hole. No complaints here. Will definitely play here again. read more

$70+ for aerated greens (didn't tell us), slow play, US Open Bermuda rough that necessitated ball searches within 10 feet of the green, and we saw the drink cart once on a day in the high 90s. Won't be back. read more

Great twilight course, played 18 holes in less than 2.5 hours, greens were in good shape, variety of hole types kept it interesting and fun

Let's just say that this place is a hidden gem. It used to hold the Byron Nelson Classic in the 50s so there is history. Driving into this club I was a little skeptical but boy was I surprised. A golf caddy met our group and brought our clubs toward the golf shop. I checked in and the service was great and the pro shop had lots of items and clubs for sale. There is a putting green, chipping green, bunker, and of course driving range near the first tee. The course itself is challenging. Elevation changes, narrow fairways, long par 4's, and not too much water which is a plus for me. Utilize your Driver for sure. The tee boxes were well maintained so were the fairways and greens. There were no signs of deterioration besides some of the pavement of the cart path but not complaining. What was important was that the play was not slow, there was a field Marshall who kept the groups moving and always making sure we were having a good time. After the 18th a caddy even wiped down our clubs for us, another plus! Afterwards dining in the club was great. Great food, excellent locker rooms, and the banquet halls were very presentable. The price I had paid for was a little more than most but for the facility itself and experience, well worth it. I would give the course itself about a 4 but the staff and facilities make it a 5. This course should be played by all on DFW. Highly recommend. Will be back again. read more
