Riverside Golf Club - Golf Near Me - Grand Prairie, Texas

I played Riverchase Golf Club in Grand Prairie today and was surprised to see the green fee had climbed to $80. I hadn't played there in 2-3 years, and the last time I was there it was just over $60. A price increase of more than $15 raises expectations. The clubhouse staff were efficient but not especially friendly. I'd describe the service as average. The starter was about the same. Nothing bad, but nothing that matched the premium price either. The little things also reflected a lack of attention to detail. My cart was dirty and had trash left in one of the cup holders. The sand bottle was empty, so there was no way to repair divots. I also purchased a small bucket of range balls and found five that were visibly cut and should have been pulled from circulation. I striped my opening drive right down the middle of the first fairway. While waiting for the group ahead to clear, a player from the first tee nearly hit me with their drive. We couldn't have been more than 250 yards away. That's a player issue, but it's also the kind of thing a visible starter or marshal should help prevent. The greens and most of the tee boxes were in good shape. Unfortunately, the bunkers were below average, with several consisting mostly of bare dirt and washed-out sand. A few tee boxes were also washed out. Two holes were using "temporary" tee boxes, but they were in the exact same condition as the last time I played, so they appear to have become permanent. Both were overrun with crabgrass and dallisgrass. The biggest disappointment was pace of play. I never saw a course marshal, and the round took 5 hours and 40 minutes. That's simply unacceptable, especially at an $80 price point. Overall, I'd rate the experience 5 out of 10. Riverchase is not currently an $80 golf course. At around $65, it would be a fair value. Just a few miles away, Stevens Park typically charges in the mid-$60s and is consistently in outstanding condition. At the current price, Riverchase has work to do before it offers comparable value. read more

I parked, then walked in and met a man named Damon, he questioned my buddies and I with aggression. This left us entering hole one feeling confused and a bit off put. The attitude set us off mood before a beautiful day. Luckily we were greeted by a marshal during the round named, Vernanon, he was super nice and respectful. The course traffic was awful we left after 9 after waiting ages. Everyone else we met there was kind but Damon, he also told us that it was his first day back in awhile yet decided to treat us with aggression over kindness. My buddies and I will not return to this course ever again because of Damon, but Vernanon was great. read more

I've played this course multiple times and I do love the atmosphere. The greens are great and it plays well! HOWEVER, the tee time marshal Mike takes his job a little too serious. He rushed my group to tee off because there was apparently a tournament that morning. As a golf course, maybe block off times around the tournament so it won't get backed up or slowed? Anyways, Mike was very rude about it. Yelling at everyone. As we made the bend, I had to give up my cart which sucked but Mike decided he was going to grab my bag off the cart without even asking. And while also in my face yelling saying "we need your cart". Firstly, don't touch another man's belongings. And if you're going to, at least ask. I had to walk up to Mike as he was reaching for my bag to unhook it to tell him "please don't touch my bag" 3-4 times until he finally stopped. And then he stood there waiting for me to do so. Respectfully, idc how old you are or who you think you are, acting like a brat or a$$ even at his age is unacceptable and makes golfers think twice before booking the course. Especially if I have to deal with a Mike off the first tee. read more

Checked into the pro shop this morning and Mary said the place was immaculate. Problem is, Mary doesn't know what immaculate is. In the 30 years since I last played this place it has fallen into serios disrepair. All the outlines of the holes are gone, overgrowth around every lake and that is apparent approaching #9 green. You can barely see #9 green. Range balls in #17 fairway, so many you can't even find your ball. I think they've just flat given up on #15. But hey, one man's trash is another woman's treasure I guess? The developer that owns the place just needs to go on and put this place out of its misery, and soon. read more

Played the front nine this week during twilight hours and had a great time. This course is sneaky challenging with well-placed bunkering and some elevated/isolated greens. The conditions were great, which isn't something other courses can claim right now around DFW. I am looking forward to playing again sometime this summer to play the rest of the course. read more

I bought a pass to this golf course without having played it before, the pass was to good to pass up. I finally got to play my first round here and also test out the driving range. I must say that it is a great golf course. It is well managed, the carts are clean and they have a thorough process of cleaning them and prepping for the next golfer. I only got to play the front 9, but they were challenging, had some good fairways that were well maintained and they offer not just the normal cart food but they actually are grilling right there for you. prices are fair as well. read more

Green's were in great shape but unfortunately that where it ended. Overall conditions were below average, bunkers and fairways were poorly maintained. The marshall starts the disappointing day with full on search of coolers and Yetis, with nasty attitude. Not to mention the pace of play was 5 1/2 hous, Riverside is the true meaning of municipal golf experience. read more

This is one my favorite public courses in Dfw! it's a fun challenging course that has an ocean feel to it because of all the water! The staff is friendly and Mary is outstanding! she has always treated us exceptionally well and I always look forward to seeing her! staff like her get your round started on the right track! I live in Allen as had to drive to Grand Prairie to play with family that flew in. I was a little reluctant to play way out in Grand Prairie at a course I didn't know. BOY WAS I GLAD I DID. This course is flawless from start to finish. It's got hills and big trees.... and oh yeah, LOTS OF SAND. FLUFFY SAND. I felt like a beach boy I was in the bunkers so often. This course was a little hard if you manage to shoot off the fairway like I do... a lot of opportunities to use your driver. I can't wait to come back. Even the cart girl Kelsey was awesome. I think a lot of golf courses should get a paper and pen and head over to Riverside to take notes. HATS OFF, BRAVO!!! read more

5 hr round is unacceptable. We started at 1230 and didn't get done until 530. I will say the course was in decent shape. Greens were good but it's tough to play we and enjoy the round when you're waiting almost ten minutes every hole. read more

Located in the center of the DFW metroplex, this course is easy to get to from the main airport. The fact that it sits off of a major freeway may be a deterrent to some, but only two of the holes are subject to any freeway noise. I thought the designers did a good job at creating some unique holes. The layout contains quite a few dramatic doglegs turning in both directions forcing you to pull all the shots out for successful navigation. I think I might've pulled my driver 2-3 times the entire round. At just under 7,000 yards this course is not going to test you on the long ball. I would suggest playing with someone familiar with the course to help guide you around. Several of the holes will leave you guessing if you don't know where to aim. The conditions were about average although I am a little concerned that there was no forewarning about their recently punched greens. Seems like the middle of summer/busy season is the least optimal time to undertake such a procedure but I'm no agronomist. Had it not been for those punched greens, I would've offered up another star. Sorry guys, no video review for this course ... yet. Played the course today and was very pleasantly surprised. On Thursdays they have Thirsty Thursday with dollar drafts and dollar hot dogs. Course was in really clean shape and the greens, while small on a few holes, were in good shape. The clubhouse is not very impressive but the fun employees were awesome. Mary in the bar was very fun. I thought the course was pretty nice, also challenging, and I scored about three strokes below my average due to some tight pin placements and I really enjoyed my time. Drive 1 hour to play at Bear Creek only to learn course closed due to tournament . Then searched for nearby course and found Riverside but Yelp reviews were mostly negative. But this was only option if I wanted to play Do not understand the negative reviews. Enjoyed playing here very much. Course was in super shape. Played 18 in less than 4 hours. Price was reasonable. People friendly. Challenging but not impossible layout. Is it the best course I ever played? No. But very good and not deserving of the negative comments. Worst customer service I've ever experienced at a Golf Course. I travel to the DFW area frequently to see patients. I wanted to get nine holes in to kick off my holiday weekend. When I arrived I had my clubs strapped to my back as always. I don't like to leave my clubs outside at a course I'm unfamiliar with. In addition to that I am a scratch golfer and play with some expensive, custom equipment. When I entered I was immediately scolded by a Mr "James Stoker" yelling at me to leave my clubs outside. I politely engaged an apologized and explained that I did not feel comfortable taking my clubs off my back and leave them outside. He then told me I couldn't play unless I left my clubs outside. I asked him if he was really going to sacrifice a sale and let a customer leave just for wanting to protect their clubs while I paid for a round. I explained that I wasn't looking to hang out, or eat I simply wanted to pay so I could go play. He insisted and simply told me to leave. I could not believe the way I was treated and how this business promotes such behavior as their company culture. I will never return to this course and I will post to as many social media outlets on my experience. Simply Horrible, unfriendly and very disrespectful. read more

Took 3 hours to play 9 holes. 5somes out all over the course. No one working to speed up pace of play. Paid for 18 and asked for store credit. I was told "raincheck only" even though I explained that I was from NY and would be leaving town and would obviously not be able to use it. Just finished playing and what a joke. Played the front nine as a single and zipped through the course. Got to 10 tee box and had a 3 some teeing off. They were not in front of me the entire front nine so figured they were told to tee off on the back, no problem, however they all hit two to three balls each. Would not let me play through and people behind me caught up. Still had to wait. Finally finished and went to say something to the person who checked me in, was told he told them to start on 10 because a league was starting on 1. Was told I shouldn't come on Tuesday or Wednesday, really!!! How about letting me play through. Won't be back and know a lot of golfers and will relay the experience. Sucks!!!!! read more

I'll reiterate what everyone else has said so far. This course is in great shape, the greens are perfect, the fairways are well manicured, and the pace of play was 3 hours and 15 minutes. The staff was friendly and my round cost $45 on Golfnow, but included a sleeve of ProV-1 X's. I cannot say enough good things about this course. One of the better experiences I've had in a long time on the golf course. Course knowledge goes a long way here and it's probably a little too difficult for the beginner, but should still be fun for all skill levels. read more

This is a bad course in good conditions and a horrible one in bad conditions-- Dr. Seuss must have been the course architect. The layout is poor and you have at least 6 holes with no idea where your flight line is to drive. Par 5's are ridiculously laid out and 1 par 4 that you need to hit 140 off the tee to set up a tree lined 160!approach- Bad course!!! read more

I created a Yelp account just to write about this place. I only gave this golf course 1 star because of the cart lady and the port potties were better than the service we received at this place. We had a tee time at 9am on May 5th and as soon as we tried to check in, the cashier raised his voice at us about having to pay for another cart because we had 6 people in our party but only 4 (3 men and 1 female) were playing. We understood and didn't argue, we expected to pay for that. Once our time came to tee off the Marshall asked to check our coolers for alcoholic beverages, we were forward and told him that we brought some beers in. He told us to take it back to the car (fine, no big deal) due to company policy. It became a big deal when the cashier (same guy that raised his voice at check-in) came out of the office, got on a golf cart and followed me to my car and parked near by to watched me put the cooler back. This is pretty ridiculous, but whatever brushed it off again. Driving back to the course to meet up with the rest of our group to be told to, "hurry up, you're already behind!" Umm.. excuse me! We started on time and we have 4 people playing (myself not included). You can't expect a group of four to finished a hole in 5 minutes! For all 18 holes we were followed by a Marshall and checked up on as if we were going to burn the golf course down. We spent way too much money and too much time to be treated like this. We will not be returning and made sure to tell all of our friends to stay away from this place! read more

Have played here four times now. Expect 5:30-6 hour round if it is a Saturday or Sunday. No course Marshalls to be found. Foursomes going off every 8 minutes. Was so crowded yesterday they were bringing carts up from 18 and cleaning in front of you. Greens are spray painted and many are weed invested. Unreadable because of how rough they are. Course has a good layout, and is fairly priced. On a weekday it is much more enjoyable. Staff is friendly. read more

This was my first time to play the course. I will say the fairways were in good shape and I enjoyed the layout of the course. That being said, here is why the 1 star. Got there, paid, then proceeded to the practice green to discover the greens had just recently been aerated. When our tee time was made no one bothered to say, "Hey, we just recently aerated the greens this last Monday." nor did they tell us before paying to play(full price I must add). It was just a surprise when arriving to the putting green. It was early in the AM and it's not like we could just leave and catch a tee time somewhere else, so we played anyway. After the round I went inside and spoke to the guy behind the counter in the pro shop and asked him about the greens and why they didn't bother to disclose that over the phone or even before we paid. All he said was, "I'm sorry about that, we were telling people at the beginning of the week, but figured they would be good to go by the weekend." Really? you work at a golf course, can't you go outside and look at the greens and tell how bad they still are just to the naked eye? Or better yet, go strike a few putts on them. They apparently were not too interested in gaining my future business since he didn't offer to comp my next green fee or at least offer a discounted rate for my next visit. Needless to say they have earned there 1 star and I will not be going back. read more

The course is nice. But the staff wasn't very friendly to me when I checked in. Their golf carts run on gas, which is very weird to see in 2012. I was a bit weary about this course because I heard rumors that cars often get broken into by their club house. The layout was pretty nice, can't complain. read more

Called ahead for an afternoon tee time to play nine holes with a friend who was visiting. It cost $20 per person (cart rental included, and it had GPS in the cart!), and the course was a lot of fun. I am a senior and wanted to walk the course, but guess what??? ---you pay the EXACT same fee if you walk or ride - I guess this asinine policy is reflective of the Eagle Golf Group, although I have walked Indian Creek, Lake Park and a few other courses that had "walking" rates.
