Ordered a panoramic xray with out getting pre authorization even though I had one done the year before. After the xray expressed great concern with the blockage in my sinus. I was able to get an emergency appointment with an ENT doctor at Summit. he looked at the xray pictures i took with my phone and laughed. "I really dislike when inexperienced dentist do this! This is common in 25% of population and poses no threat what so ever." I called Delafield dentist immediately after my appointment to tell them of the doctors opinion. It was like deaf ears! Dental insurance would not cover the xray. Said it was a medical claim. Medical would not cover the $275.00 saying it was unauthorized and/or not pre-authorized. After 18 months of this with them, they sent me to collections. I have shared all the details with two of the accounts receivable team. Both were sympathetic to what happened and neither felt I should have to incur this cost. On top of that...they wanted me to book a deep cleaning for 2 teeth. I mad an appointment for it and my follow up for 6 months. Two weeks before the deep cleaning appointment I had to cancel it due to overseas travel. I received a voicemail that they would cancel it and my next scheduled cleaning. I was told for legal reasons they could not clean my teeth before the I had the deep cleaning! I called when I got back. Obviously my cleaning appointment was gone, i needed to wait another 4 months past my scheduled cleaning to get a new appointment. Then was told they WILL NOT schedule it until after the 2 tooth deep cleaning was completed. I found a new dentist! What a shame to treat a client like that. For this reason I can not recommend this dentist and practice to anyone.

But my last two experiences were very bad. Last time I went here I was waiting (I think over 30min?) even though I made an appt. Fine, it happens. I got in the chair they took x-rays (great!) then sent a hygienist over and she did very, very, very little. They usually use a color coded probe to measure your gumline to see how much its receded, that was not done. They also de-calcify your teeth with a scaler/ultrasonic scaler (the scrapey part no one likes) she only did it on a few front teeth. Then she opened the prophy paste to "clean" the teeth and all she did was tap my four front teeth. That's it. That's all folks. Then they RUSH RUSH RUSHED me out the door. No one was that friendly either...busy I guess? Whatever. All in all very poor experience. They sure did bill my insurance though, of course! I thought maybe a fluke, one off? So I sent my husband in with tooth pan (cracked tooth.) I made him an appointment and everything. He waited FOR AN HOUR still and they looked at it, took a x-ray and sent him on his way. To be fair he didn't have my HSA card for payment so I get that. The real problem is (besides the ridiculous wait time) when I asked him about the experience he said "I didn't feel welcome there." and "They rushed me out so quickly." and "I just didn't feel like they wanted me there." Before anyone slaps back, yes I have very healthy teeth. I still don't see this an excuse to not perform certain tasks; and I do know what I am talking about. Firefly Dentistry has NOT been in practice for "over thirty years". Dr. Barry Baumann, my former…read moredentist, was the owner of the practice before Firefly Dentistry bought the current office. I'm sad to say that Firefly Dentistry is not a worthy successor to Dr. Baumann's legacy. I had initial misgivings when I first visited Dr. Sandberg. However, I thought it might be due to seeing a new dentist after the fact that Dr. Baumann was my dentist for so very many years. Dr. Sandberg did a few fillings, two root canals, three crowns, and routine cleanings. I felt pain in two of the crowns with root canals and kept telling him this. He said that I couldn't feel pain, "those teeth have root canals". But the pain continued. I also began to notice he wasn't as attentive, in my opinion. He seemed disinterested. Just a gut feeling, but I've learned to pay attention to gut feelings. I also wondered at a remark of his, "I really want to get a crown on that one tooth!" Then, at my final visit, I was scheduled to see Dr. Sandberg. The hygienist came in and gave my teeth a very cursory cleaning. All the while, she was talking with a new dentist. Then, to my surprise, the new dentist did my exam. I asked why Dr. Sandberg didn't perform the exam and was told "He's busy." The hygienist and dentist talked all during the exam, speaking of "all the new tricks Dr. Sandberg's bringing in, zoom whitening" and other such things. When the COVID-19 pandemic came, I decided I wasn't going back. After I got vaccinated and the restrictions were loosening a bit, I found a dentist with better recommendations. I came to find out that the crowns with root canals that have been hurting me were infected, with bone loss. I had to have them treated by an endodontist. He doesn't *think* I'll need implants. Needless to say, I'm furious. I DO NOT recommend Firefly Dentistry. Stay away!

I made an appointment online. When I arrived, I waited 10-15 minutes and then some x-rays were performed, I then waited 1.5 hours in an exam room and never saw any staff. They turned on a TV and left me alone. When someone finally came in (still not a dentist), she told me that the dentist would hopefully be in soon. She said the other patients had been there since 10 am (it was 4 pm) and were just being seen. I waited another half hour and then left. I never saw a dentist. After waiting several hours, I decided I'd rather be in pain at home in front of the TV than alone and in pain in an exam room in front of a TV.

I recently completed a tooth implant process that took several months (remove 40-year old crown, bone graft, wait for that to heal, implant post, wait for that to heal, implant!). The whole process was about as painless as it could possibly be. One of the things I like best about Elmbrook Family Dental is that they explain things clearly -- throughout the process Dr. Plecas explained each step, what the options were, what he thought the best option would be, and why. Knowing about the bone graft was especially important to me, and seeing what the part of the implant would be and how it all went together was cool. I was initially concerned because my son's wedding was coming up, and I didn't want to have a big hole in my mouth for pictures. Dr. Plecas discussed options with me -- the full process wouldn't be complete before the wedding. If I wanted, we could have gotten a temporary fake tooth there, but he thought I should wait and see how it looked. Once the tooth was removed I found that the space wasn't very noticeable at all. I'm very glad that I didn't spend the extra money on a temporary tooth! It feels like we know everyone there - we've been there for years, and at times we had six family members going. My older kids only stopped going there when they totally left the area; while they were in college out of state they still went to Elmbrook Family Dental, scheduling appointments around their breaks. One of the other things I like about Elmbrook Family Dental is that they keep up with processes, technology, and materials.

It's a hard sell for TMJ services with every appointment. Cost for TMJ services: Assessment $650 and treatment $5400-6500 (services weren't clarified) with payment required upfront. He says he uses a third-party to maximize insurance payout and after that is received, he would refund anything that insurance covers. When I asked what patients do when they can't afford this treatment, he became defensive and explained that he couldn't provide services for free (which I wouldn't expect). I found a local (TMJ & Orofacial Pain Treatment Center) doctor who is excellent, fitted me with a night guard for under $200, and that has very clear patient costs for services after insurance, and charges much less overall.

I went to see if Molar 18 could be saved by a Root Canal but after taking the CBCT Scan ($200 out…read moreof pocket) and another bitewing PA X-Ray, Dr. Elizabeth Choybowski informed me that the tooth would not be a good candidate for a root canal. She began talking about TMJ which I have never had and made strong suggestions to see a specific TMJ specialist across the street. Actually, Dr. Chybowski should have suggested seeing an ENT (ears, noser and throat doctor) where they could make an accurate diagnosis and do the necessary accurate diagnostic tests and so forth. Also, TMJ is not covered by Medicare and most private employer sponsored health insurance. I appreciated the fact Dr. Chybowski was honest in telling me that my tooth would be better off being extracted which they do not handle. But I did want to speak with Dr. Choyboyski a bit further and she seemed very hurried and left. So I made my own appointment with an Oral Surgeon at Great Midwest Oral Surgery. I asked WI Endodontics-Mayfair to send the CBCT Scan as well as the PA Bitewing for that Molar to them. They did send the CBCT Scan but Greater Midwest Oral Surgery could not open the file and view the CBCT Scan. They also mentioned that they had three other patIents from WI Endodontic-Mayfair that CBCT Scans could not be opened/viewed. I called WI Endo back and told them that. All they could say was the Oral Surgeon's Office did not have the correct software to view this $200 CBCT Scan. No way was I going to pay another $200 for another CBCT at the Oral Surgeon's Office too. The Dr. Groeckermann, Oral Surgeon was kind enough to offer to do it for free given the circumstances. I did some research regarding this and found out in the State of WI, Endodontics are required to send the required software disc along with their CBCT Scan. WI Endodontic-Mayfair did not do this and attempted to place the blame on the Oral Surgeon's system. For the brief time actually speaking with Dr Chybowski and her insistence on TMJ referral, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend WI Endodontics-Mayfair nor Dr. Chybowski. It seems like the CBCT Scan is the money maker and referrals for TMJ aren't far behind. I also believe that Dr. Chybowski could see the amount of decay and placement within the Molar with the PA Bitewing....my own General Dentist could see this on her PA Bitewing of Molar 18. I just wanted to see if WI EndodonticsI could have done a root canal and saved the tooth, but it turned into another stressful, expensive nightmare for me.
