I came here with my friend to do a vinyasa class while in town. While I have no complaints about the instruction or the actual yoga, the atmosphere of this studio is very unusual. It's in a sort of industrial warehouse space. Very high ceilings and little sound proofing between the studios. While I was attending the class, I was really bothered by the amount of noise coming from a group of teenage girls who I think were doing aerial yoga in another studio. Really killed the vibe of the vinyasa class especially during the relaxation portion in the last 10 minutes. Also, this studio is very dog friendly, so folks with allergies please note this. Especially in the entry way, there were a couple dogs including one that appears to belong to the owners. Not sure I'd come back here which is not something I say lightly about a yoga studio. read more

I have been going to this studio for a year and there is nothing like it! Jessica (owner and instructor) teaches both yoga and aerial strengthening classes. My personal favorite are the aerial classes, which have changed my body in ways that other fitness classes have failed. Jessica challenges and pushes you in every class, but if you are a beginner or have injuries, she modifies the exercises specific to your needs. Also, which is extremely important for me, she changes the classes every time to avoid boredom and so your body doesn't get used to the same movements. Other great pluses are the Rockband class - an hour of nonstop cardio hitting wood blocks with drum sticks and Aerial Cirque d Soleil class - performing aerial acrobatics in the swing. She also coordinates a team for obstacle/running events held locally (i.e. warrior dash, urban raid, inflatable 5K, etc) and has a couple weeks out of the year teaching kids specifically. Overall, the atmosphere at the studio (and owner) is warm, welcoming, fun, and challenging. A MUST studio to check out! read more

Tried the aerial yoga (all levels). Interesting & totally enjoyable, relaxing experience, but I don't think I will be back often as I don't feel i would get enough out of it for the cost. I would definitely recommend it to anyone once (especially anyone stressed out) as it's a delightfully unique thing to try. I both enjoyed it and felt great afterward, but I feel like I personally get more out of grounded yoga. Maybe I'd change my mind with regular practice, but can't see it being worth the investment from my current perspective. In case any of you have the questions I had, I will go ahead and answer the things I was wondering. You do not need to bring a mat. No one in our class used one. It is ACTUALLY suitable for beginners (including the ultra-est of zero even standard yoga experience beginners). I felt it was in fact much easier on your body than standard yoga. I don't think I sweated at all and I do when I do basic beginners yoga from YouTube at home. (That's the extent of my practice and it's not regular by any means so I was terrified going into this but it was totally unwarranted terror.) My class consisted mainly of beginners like me, with a couple yogis mixed in. There were 7 of us in swings and we all had plenty of space. The class was slower paced than i expected, I feel like we only did a handful of positions during the hour. Overall super fun to try once and extremely relaxing. I think it'd make a fun date or friend outing. Our instructor was pretty new at teaching but she was nice and did a good job. I would recommend that the studio gets square register or something to take credit card payments regardless of who is there because no one wants to leave their cc info! I've gone to the Good Karma Studio for gravity yoga classes with Jess three times so far, and I can't wait to go a forth. It's like yoga meets gymnastics meets the trapeze. Jess is a very patient, effective instructor. I never would have imagined I'd be able to trust myself enough to do some of the things we do in class, but Jess is very encouraging. I'm no doctor, but I feel as though I've accomplished in 3 sessions of gravity yoga what it had taken me months to do with a wellness chiropractor. My spine feels fantastic. I leave class feeling straight and strong, and the strengthening exercises keep my core engaged. I think Lai and I disagree on the price tag. I don't think $18 is pricey at all considering most studios charge $15 for a standard class. I'm more than happy to pay $18 ($17 if you register ahead of time) for a class the requires that amount of instruction plus the special equipment. Again, the chiropractor was costing me a bundle, so this class has more than doubled the return on my investment. As for the studio overall, it's a beautiful space. Love the artwork and the vibe. I'd consider checking out some of the other classes, including gravity strength or hot yoga. read more

My only regret is that I did not start taking classes here sooner! :( I have been wanting to try aerial yoga for a long time but kept putting it off because I was not sure if it was for me and if I would be able to keep up with the class. When I finally decided to give it a try I bought the intro package of 4 classes (2 regular and 2 aerial). I took 2 Forrest Yoga classes with Camille and absolutely loved them (however, I did decide to stick to the original plan and continue on with aerial yoga classes only)! I took one beginners aerial yoga class and then an aerial strength TRX class and realized that I totally can keep up with the class and it soon became one of my favorite work-outs! Being in the area on weekends only, I try to always make it a priority to take Jessica's aerial yoga core strength class and Meg's aerial barre class. Both Jessica and Meg are absolutely amazing at what they do and passionate about it. Jessica takes the time to make sure every member of the class feels comfortable with everything we do involving the aerial swing. I always feel like the class is a great mix of core work and some relaxation moments (the inversion at the beginning and end of class and the peppermint pillow at the end :) ). Meg's upbeat personality always makes the class a joy to be in! Meg focuses a lot on posture while working on core as well. You may not feel like you are doing a lot in the moment throughout small movements, but you are sure to feel it afterwards! I have also taken one class with Audrey, who was subbing one morning and LOVED it. I got an AMAZING core workout and only wish I had the opportunity to make it to more of her classes! I highly recommend taking classes at Good Karma! The instructors and classes are amazing and the price is totally reasonable! Bethany teaches a weekly class in my building, but this week she needed to teach at the studio so I went there. So glad I did! I really like the space and the tree trunks they used to separate the studio from the reception desk. They have silk sheets for anti gravity yoga and I am definitely going to check that out. I think the same room is used for their hot yoga class but luckily for me, it wasn't too hot in there. Lots of space for a medium sized class. I will be back! I was in the Albany area for a conference and was looking for an evening yoga class. I saw that this atudio had aerial yoga and although slightly scared (of the unknown) I digured I would give it a try. They had a beginners class yesterday (Monday) so it seemed ideal. I can not put into words how great this class was. The teacher, Jess, was an incredible instructor, supportive, encouraging, observant of her pupils n their postirea, and went just at the right pace. I did things I truly thought I could not so and would only be watching with my feet on the floor. All I can say is don't miss this class!! read more

I've taken three classes here and two of them aerial. They were great! The last aerial class I did because it was for stretching and I've been really sore from kickboxing. After three class I felt so much better. Like an entirely different person! It was a small class and we all had shoulder/neck tension so we focused in that area. Omg we used golf balls to help break up knots in our shoulders! I will never look at golf balls the same again because they really helped. It was also nice that Jessica remembered me and I had not been in a class in a year and a half. I will be going back for sure. read more

I've been here once for aerial yoga and a couple of times for the aerial strength training class. I preferred the latter - it was such a great workout and boy did the time fly by. My muscles were screaming the next day, so I knew I really worked them! Jessica is a great instructor. Good Karma is a clean & inviting studio with knowledgable instructors. I travel from Glens Falls (45+ minutes) at least once a week to "fly" in the aerial yoga class. When I am able, I enjoy the other classes as well: Aerial Strength, Aerial Cirq and Aerial Restorative. I highly recommend this studio to everyone from beginner to novice. As someone who enjoys mixing up my exercise routine in my home city of San Francisco, I'm always looking for classes that will continue this routine wherever I go. I chose Good Karma because of the TRX class and ease of signing up for it. The studio doesn't use standard TRX ropes, but the aerial fabric version of it which is just as effective. Jessica proved to be an excellent teacher. I've taken all kinds of group exercise classes since I was 16, mostly in San Francisco and NYC, so it is easy for me to "predict" what the next steps will be if the teacher is average/standard. Well I was impressed with the dynamic moves and exercises Jessica taught for TRX. It is clear she has a huge wealth of knowledge and experience in group exercise and training that is also, I imagine, always ongoing. I could not predict what was going to be next - time flew by and I definitely got an excellent workout. Another thing I appreciated was that at the end, we did an aerial hang - something I had never done before. What a great way to introduce me to aerial - it was a unique, supercool experience with a very freeing feeling. I was scared doing it at first, but Jessica guided me through it to make sure I felt safe, supported and encouraged. I loved this class so much I came back the next day and did her $8 lunch time yoga, which was a steal. I'd strongly recommend coming here to any Albany local or anyone visiting the area. Basically, if Jessica lived in SF, she would naturally become one of my favorite teachers that I would have to plan my exercise schedule around. read more

The instructors are incredibly helpful and engaged during class, and the studios (both downstairs and upstairs) are very clean and comfortable. In addition to traditional yoga classes, Good Karma offers ariel yoga, TRX style classes, and barre. I have found all of these classes to be challenging and fun. read more

After taking four different classes with Jessica I wanted to write a review to share my experience. I work out on a regular basis and have visited several different studios and the classes at Good Karma are by far the best! Jessica's extensive knowledge and positive energy guide you through exercises that challenge all muscle groups. You will recognize her creativity as soon as she welcomes you to her studio and it is ever present during her classes utilizing resistance bands and gravity swings. One of the best workouts I experienced utilized only a folding chair and light hand weights. During class she constantly monitors the clients, offering suggestions on form and modifications to improve your results. I LOVE this studio and the encouragement they give every single student. I have taken many classes and workshops at The Good Karma Studio of varying levels and have never been disappointed. You can tell when someone really wants to help people and enjoys watching them as they progress and change their unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy one and that is the best way I can describe the owner, Jessica. She motivates you in such a positive way with just the right amount of challenge and encouragement. Wow! Had a terrific, effective workout doing the Barre Fundamentals class on Friday mornings. I could feel my body getting stronger!

I absolutely LOVE the gravity classes. They have done wonders for my physical health. I feel leaner and more toned than ever before. The gravity yoga sessions are so relaxing and are a perfect way to unwind and tone at the same time. I highly recommend these classes to people looking for challenging and extremely fun classes. I absolutely love the Good Karma Studio. I take Cardio Barre and Gravity Strength regularly, and the owner/instructor, Jessica Lubin, continually introduces new classes too. I have been going to GKS for about 9 months now, and I can see results from the above mentioned classes. My butt and hips are slimmer, my legs muscualr and toned, and I have definition in my arms I have never had before. They are truly total body workouts, and they are FUN! Jess is a super upbeat, encouraging, patient, creative and knowledgable instructor. The classes are also relatively small, so she's able to give individual attention and guidance on form, and answer questions along the way. The studio is also beautiful and geographically convenient.
