AND along with the most delicious scones, came a beautiful cream, but OH the blackberry jam! Bought 5 jars as gifts (and one for myself). It's a bit of drive down onto the floor of the Megalong Valley, but trust yourself. Keep going. Cute little tea room on beautiful land. Really enjoyed it. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g1078451-d2459102-r951841036-Megalong_Valley_Tearooms-Megalong_Valley_Blue_Mountains_New_South_Wales.html#

A wonderful and relaxing breakfast in the Megalong Valley -- absolutely worth the trip down if you…read moreare in the Blue Mountains already. I went here for brunch with my elderly parents, 7-month-old son and husband, and they accommodated us with a beautiful big table by a window near the nice warm fire. High chair was provided. We ordered the Ploughman's breakfast, big breakfast, soup of the day (veggie), scones and the apple pie and EVERYTHING was delicious. It looked like a lot of food, but we ate every last bit. The coffee and teas were excellent as well (I own and run my own cafe so I know good coffee!) The service was also outstanding. We had recently experienced the most appalling service at a popular cafe in Leura, and so when we went here it was so nice to be treated with warmth and kindness. It was my birthday the day prior, so they even accommodated a request to put some candles and a little Happy Birthday sign on a slice of apple pie and bring it out at the end of the meal... big genuine smiles and so kind to my entire family. I wholeheartedly recommend this place! Make sure to order the scones, the blackberry jam is homemade and warm and with the fresh fluffy cream it is just... *chef's kiss* :)

I stopped in here on a cold, wet day after a punishing hike in the rocky valleys around Blackheath…read more It was inviting: cozy, unpretentious. But I figured it would be a typical small-town cafe, with ordinary fare. I just wanted anything after my exertions. The menu looked ordinary: fish and chips, steak sandwich, beef pie, sandwiches, the usual. But the food was uniformly excellent. I had fish and chips, but the flathead fillets were moist, delicious, and perfectly-battered, not greasy. The chips were obviously made there, and fried just right despite their chunky size. The side salad escaped the default lettuce-and-tomato-and-cucumber throwaway by including sun-dried tomatoes and just a spoonful of wonderfully creamy dressing. With a little pot of garlic aioli to season every bite, I was in heaven. My wife had the steak sandwich and said it was the best she could ever recall having. The meat was thin but still juicy, the onions plentiful and caramelised deep into toffee-territory. Her mint tea was made with fresh herbs, too. For dessert, we each had a chocolate brownie with nuts. It was well-presented on the plate, but a bit cold, just out of the dessert case. They were only to happy to heat them up when we asked, though, and they were delicious. To outward appearances the Wattle Cafe looks like any other cafe, but we found the food quality to be uniformly excellent. It's a super Blue Mountains stop after a hike.

Here are the opening hours and quiet/busy times. Sunday * 12pm to 7pm Monday * 10am - 7pm Tuesday * 10am - 7pm Wednesday * 10am - 7pm Thursday * 10am - 7pm Friday * 10am - 3pm Saturday * Closed This review will probably change to five stars when I go. Still, I'm a big online fan because otherwise I can spend half a day looking for somewhere to eat. And the online menu does say they love people with allergies. However there is no mention of gluten or gluten free on the menu. Maybe this is related to the tightening of Australian rules into "gluten friendly" rather than gluten free. Since their specialty is hot sandwiches, I'm up in the air on the gluten front. If they will allow choosing from the sides and extras menu, that would be perfect. I also like how many of their prices have stayed reasonable, with five dollar coffees, I don't know if I can eat them but their egg sandwiches for Brekky look positively dreamy.

What a unique interior- hard to explain but almost like being on a ship. They told us they have a business in Alaska and fish for their own salmon and transport it here so of course I had to try the special. It was fantastic. Can't eat it like a sandwich so ask for a fork :) Hubs had the Deli Rose and loved it. Ate every bit. Friendly service, lots of languages spoken here. Loved it Aussie 43.50
