Of course the Orthopedist will recommend what procedure is to be done, based on the patient's condition, diagnosis, test results and other factors. The staff is very conscientious in maintaining sanitary conditions and the patient's wellbeing. I feel very confident going to them. Although the business is under the umbrella name of Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County, each area is its own entity, hence when checking in you fill out the same forms each time, and they use a computer system! A prescription needed a prior approval after surgery on 6/6 and I am still trying to get it even though I have called and emailed numerous times. I was told on 6/6 that the request was put in, however on 6/7 I spoke with the insurance company and the request was not put in. When I spoke to the nurse about it I was told not to worry, it is not that important of a medication. Then why prescribe it? At that point I reminded the nurse that we were told it was to help the pain and to help him not to use the narcotics so long. The answer was yes, that is true. Seems important to me.

Thank you Dr. Barrick for giving me my quality of life back. It started with tingling in my fingers…read morethen into my arms then my shoulders and then my whole back. It kept me up all night, I would get 15 minutes sleep at best since before waking up. I went to Dr. Barrick on the advice of another neurosurgeon Dr. Oslewski from Misrecordia hospital in New Rochelle for a second opinion on surgery. The best thing I ever did. I decided to go with Dr. Barrick because of his knowledge and minimal invasive surgery. The other Dr. would've kept me in the hospital for a week then in internal rehab for two weeks. Dr. Barrick said I would be back home within two days, not true, I was home within 15 hours from the surgery. He came to my bedside before the surgery and after the surgery, he also took my wife aside which put her at ease. The follow ups were fantastic, he took his time, explained everything and when the insurance company wouldn't give me my bone stimulator he got involved by calling them personally three times. I got the bone stimulator. The numbness went away and I was sleeping again. Thank you very much Dr. Barrick, I HIGHLY recommend this Doctor.

The front office handles scheduling, billing, medical insurance, all you have to do is relax and let the therapists do their jobs; which they do quite well. The therapists call you in at your appointed time and immediately you're doing something or receiving some sort of treatment, constantly. They don't waste your time. I've been at other Physical Therapy businesses and there were times when i was sitting around for long periods before the next modality. Watching the clock as they wasted my time and money. When I had a follow up with the prescribing physician I'd let them know my time is valuable and I would not be going back to that place. If they couldn't suggest another therapist I'd find another doctor. I don't entertain fools. This place does well because of these factors: efficient operations, competent therapists, and feed back to the prescribing physicians. Word of mouth worked wonders before the internet and social media. Now it's faster to eliminate the ineffectual, inefficient, inept practices.

In other words a 62 year old man is not capable of handling an opioid which, by the way has no known lasting side effects, but a steroid shot with it's many known very dangerous side effects could be given on the spot. Maybe because a a steroid shot which he could charge my health plan for 700+ dollars seemed like a better "investment" for his la-de-da office practice than an age old innocuous prescription for a painkiller.
