This is my dancing school. I've been coming here for the past 6 months. Learning basic bachata and salsa. The instructors are really friendly and welcoming. Most of the students are pretty nice, but some of them are not that cool. That made my experience bad. Outside of that. Watch out for a few of those mean girls/dance snobs. I learned a lot. I can say that I don't have left feet anymore. I wish there more follows and girls my level at dance. But it's random crap shoots and probabilities. But I'm there to have fun. Not make dancing my career. if your new. I'll dance with you and just do the basics. Cross body lead and turn. Other studios teach you figures and combos. This from my reviews of the 4 week and 6 week classes. The friday drop ins and Saturday classes are more for like complete beginners. But yeah you have practice the basics at home. read more

I came on a Saturday and did both the Salsa class and Bachata class. $20 CASH! As a FIRST timer, I was able to learn the basics and follow my dance partner's move. The instructors - Erica (bachata) and I'm sorry I forgot the name of our salsa instructor - but he wore a hat LOL - they were both great!!!!!! I had a lot of fun following their lead. I came here for a private wedding dance class with Kayla. If you're preparing for a wedding dance or just want to have a little fun dancing, I would recommend Kayla as a instructor she is super friendly, and very easy to follow. She's very personable and will go out of her way to make you feel comfortable. She taught us some basic movements so we wouldn't look awkward at our wedding as well as gave us a very rough choreograph that we can practice on our own. Would totally recommend! The ambiance and atmosphere was fun. I enjoyed watching people dance. The older gentleman who was at the front was rude , they way he talked to lady at the entrance. He was also rude with us, he was making up prices to sit tables he told someone literally next me something so different and charged us 5 dollars more. Would I go back no! The building is a nice older building... but the ceiling needs repairs lots of water damage and large cracks.. We didn't try the food. Honestly, what a fun time during the weekends! They host many classes everyday from beginner to more advanced. I've attended the Friday salsa and bachata classes. The class prices are reasonable and the instructors are helpful, fun, and welcoming. After the classes, it turns into a club after where you can practice the moves you just learned. We just wanted to check out this place. They offer dance classes with the entrance (we went on Saturday) They were teaching Salsa on the first floor and Bachata on the 3rd floor. We had dinner On the 2nd floor while watching everyone dance with the dance instructor. It was pretty fun. The food was decent we had beef slider and chicken Marsala. Service was good too . The front desk staff member, Pena, did not allow me access to the top floor because I had purchased class access. I paid extra for the class and had gone upstairs to dance, but she sent a security guard to call me back downstairs to attend the class and would not allow me to return upstairs afterward. Yes, Yes, Yes!!! For the love of salsa music and dancing, this is the ultimate spot with great drinks and food, live music and dancing, and a righteous community vibe. I love the Granada and I have been going there since around 2014. The salsa room upstairs has the best DJ and when there are live salsa events downstairs, they're unmatched. It was a very cool experience very different from what you're used to. When we got there we had to pay $20 to get in and cash only so I didn't know about that I had to use her ATM. There is salsa dance classes going on with different couples and the instructor and her partner on the middle of the dance floor teaching everyone to dance Salsa along all the different steps that can be copied. If you don't have a partner there's plenty of standbys ready to couple up with you. Afterwards, it becomes a dance club for salsa and Bachata... Didn't get to try the food but I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Although lots of salsa music was from the 1020s the ambiance was great. Not super crowded allow your legs to move with no kicking.. the 3rd floor lighting is amazing!! The security guard at entrance very respectful and the dance floor is spotless! I will def come back. read more

They cleared our drinks before we were even done! And this because we were on the dance floor, dancing???? We get to our table which has been cleared and our cell phones where at the front desk? What kind of an establishment does this? Frankly, very disappointing and then we are talking to the bartender about the lack of customer service, sensitivity, and he challenges us to go ahead and leave a bad review? Well I go every Saturday since parking is safe right across and there is no charge ! That makes sense ! Now the only good DJ s are Pachanga and Moreno! The others are horrible The entrance fee is $20 ridiculous since if you go dining which is a bad idea is very pricey and not quality fresh food then you pay to enter plus the food plus drinks that are outrageously hi!The bands are mediocre and play 12 minutes songs! Because they think that makes them better musicians on top of the fact that they try to imitate original songs singers or songs that are as ugly and not melodious at all ! But well there aren't that many Salsa clubs on Saturday! So break your piggy bank to be able to have at least a bit of fun ! This club just cares about people s money not to give you as a dancer what you deserve for their hi prices! read more

This review is of the dance classes and the experience with that ONLY: They seem to operate with a serious lack of discipline and consideration for students/customers. 1st experience: i paid for the class ahead of time online and drove 30 (THIRTY) MILES there. I was told that "sometimes, when only one person signs up, the class is cancelled" and apparently I was the only person signed up for that class. When I told the young woman at the desk that I had travelled quite a way she said it was not her fault. Barring any true emergencies, it is unacceptable to do this on the day of. There are no justifications for it being a regular practice, especially when students are paying for the class and she should have taken the feed back since i was perfectly respectful. The instructor did end up showing up but started a full 15 minutes late. The class was well structured and instruction was good so a few weeks later i decided to give them a second chance. 2nd experience: i happened to be in the area on a sunday morning and decided to take one of the classes a bit later. I visit the website and select that day's date but before checking out and paying for the class, i noticed it has a date for the following week. It did not allow me to change it. I didnt know if they did not allow same day reservations so I call but no one answered. There was no message about classes being cancelled so i went to the restaurant since i was close. When I got there, there was a sign saying sunday classes were cancelled. I dont know when that sign was posted but I really think that when a class is supposed to be routinely offered, better efforts should be made to notify potential students of the cancellations. The website should have had an actual note stating no classes were being held that day and there should have been a message about it on the restaurant's voicemail, otherwise, anyone with a plan to drop in has no source to find this out. I was looking for a place to consistently take classes . Needless to say, I will not be doing so here as it seems to be a huge gamble of time AND money. read more

Pros: Great music, good classes, parking availability, large venue with excellent hardwood floors. Cons: I used to go to Granada in the past and it is sad to experience a degradation in the type of people allowed in. There were at least 4 well known perverts last night and I personally witnessed some of them make inappropriate advances towards women. So ladies, if someone asks you to dance and it doesn't feel right, walk away and if possible, alert the management. These guys shouldn't take over one of L.A.'s best places to dance. read more

I came here with my finance for the first time a week ago. We were quite impressed with the amount of people and music they were playing. Salsa for sure was on the main floor , outside was hip hop and reggaeton. I will say though the environment is more of older folks. But if you enjoy salsa then that shouldn't matter. First, the good news: The Granada has modified its dress code. Whereas they had insisted on men wearing long-sleeve shirts with a collar, now they just say "look nice." What a relief. Now we guys don't need to have a special wardrobe just so we can get past the haughty eyes of the front door people. I even saw a man with a polo shirt and bermuda shorts, and even he wasn't thrown out. I was there for a bachata night. One of my dance partners commented that it was fuller that night than usual; maybe that's what happens when the dress code is more reasonable. Kathy Reyes was the instructor, and it was tough. Most studios and clubs I've been to, the dance instructor uses a wireless microphone; Kathy didn't, and she may not have had a choice in that matter. It seemed that she was yelling at us, but actually she was trying to project her voice so that she could be understood, music or no music. Poor girl. The crowd was good, typical for a dance studio. Ranging from beginners who are trying to keep up, to advanced dancers who sneer at the beginners, and including ladies who may or may not want to dance but they sit with their friends the whole night and therefore never get asked. And it was a pleasant surprise when Kathy drug ME out to the dance floor for a bachata, even when I warned her that I wouldn't be able to show her off the way I wanted to. Cover prices are normal for a dance studio. Not an extremely special dance place to go out of your way to visit, but it works well if you're in this area. read more
