What can I say about my first time here! It was an amzing night. Ive never been to a dance club with such love for dance and such talent. The band playing with the outlook of the floor just made me feel like i was in another era. On my visit here, I danced on the third floor then went outside, and finished the night on the main dance floor. All types of music played outside but mostly salsa on the main floor. Everyone is so talented here( I have zero talent) but it didnt stop me from asking someone to dance. Such a fun night! Drinks are a bit pricey but bartenders are fast friendly. The night I came it was $20 cash at the door. Free parking around. The whole main street of Alhambra is pretty fun but I highly suggest you try this place out if you want a night of dancing. First, the good news: The Granada has modified its dress code. Whereas they had insisted on men wearing long-sleeve shirts with a collar, now they just say "look nice." What a relief. Now we guys don't need to have a special wardrobe just so we can get past the haughty eyes of the front door people. I even saw a man with a polo shirt and bermuda shorts, and even he wasn't thrown out. I was there for a bachata night. One of my dance partners commented that it was fuller that night than usual; maybe that's what happens when the dress code is more reasonable. Kathy Reyes was the instructor, and it was tough. Most studios and clubs I've been to, the dance instructor uses a wireless microphone; Kathy didn't, and she may not have had a choice in that matter. It seemed that she was yelling at us, but actually she was trying to project her voice so that she could be understood, music or no music. Poor girl. The crowd was good, typical for a dance studio. Ranging from beginners who are trying to keep up, to advanced dancers who sneer at the beginners, and including ladies who may or may not want to dance but they sit with their friends the whole night and therefore never get asked. And it was a pleasant surprise when Kathy drug ME out to the dance floor for a bachata, even when I warned her that I wouldn't be able to show her off the way I wanted to. Cover prices are normal for a dance studio. Not an extremely special dance place to go out of your way to visit, but it works well if you're in this area. read more

I'm the type of person who has two left feet. On the dance floor, I generally don't know what I'm doing. I never thought that I'd go out for a dance class. Yet, on Saturday, that's exactly what I was doing! I have to admit that I actually had a lot of fun! On Saturday nights, they have a free 1 hr class for beginners if you pay for the $15 cover. And it was fun - I felt like I learned a lot. Plus it was great because the class ended with us getting to dance with everyone in the room at least once. Following the class, the club opened and we got to dance with beginners and non-beginners. People were patient, very approachable, and they gave several helpful tips. Everyone just comes to dance and have a great time. I developed confidence as the night progressed and I really felt like I was getting the hang of it! After a night of dancing, I definitely can say that I improved with the basics. For guys, the challenge is with the fact that you're supposed to be assertive and take the lead. Even though I wasn't doing anything flashy, it was nice to be able to do that. When you can control the pace and you feel in sync with your dance partner, it's a great feeling. Around 11pm, the really good salsa dancers come out and they're looking for more than the basics....so thats when I discreetly bowed out. But, overall, I had a great time and I'd definitely be open to coming back and possibly taking more classes. I had a lot of fun and it was nice to leave the place feeling like I had a little rhythm. Came here for some salsa dancing last Friday night, after an invite from my elite bro Andre N, and our crew of JR C, James S, and Vanessa H. Due to us driving from all across town, it being a Friday night, and other circumstances, we were ALL late. But parking is free in the structure across the street. Although I saw some that really wasn't, the club requests upscale, dressy attire (no shorts or flip flops). We all arrived when the lesson was over in 10 minutes. We all came to hang out with each other and Vanessa was enthusiastic to stay, so we all decided to just go for it despite missing the lesson. What I DIDN'T like, and my main reason for 3 stars, was that we all arrived too late to use our passes, yet we had to pay to get in. It was $10 each, when there were less than 10 minutes to go before the lesson ended. So basically we had to pay for lessons we weren't getting, when there was nothing else to do but watch. Beginner lessons were going on upstairs while advanced were at the entrance. There were no in and out privileges either. It really didn't seem like the kind of place that should be charging a cover, especially for a lesson you already missed. At other bars that offer salsa nights, open dance floor is free after the lessons end. We decided to get some food, and watch Vanessa H impress us on the dance floor with her moves. That girl can DANCE! I liked the way it was a mixed crowd, with some people being fun to watch because of how good they were, and the others not being intimidated to join in. We ordered a burger and fried macaroni and cheese balls (the menu was pretty much all over the place in terms of cuisine). They also had a full bar and bottle service. Even though we were the only diners, the food took a while. The cheese balls were served with marinara and oddly weren't very creamy or cheesy, and the burger was decent. We were just happy that they served food. Oh, and just so you know, there is no dropping, dipping, or lifting allowed in this establishment. There is a big sign posted at the front desk. Don't say I didn't warn you when you drop it like it's hot and are asked to leave. read more

I like the mixed skill level crowd here on a Friday night. I don't understand why they have guestlist out front. Every single time I come here I'm on the guestlist, but I always forget to ask the bouncer and go inside. The lady always tells me to go back out to check me off on the guestlist, usually with a marking on my wristband. Such a hassle, but it does save me $3 from the regular $15 cover. This place is a lot brighter than a lot of other salsa clubs, so I feel like every time I make a mistake the whole floor notices. LOL There is a lot of room to dance, and there isn't any dipping but like all salsa clubs, you just got to watch out where you're going or you will end up stepping on someone or get stepped on. After 2-3 dances I get a little too hot to continue dancing, so the back outdoor patio is a good place to chill, or even do a little bit of dancing out there too. But once you're outside, you can easily get distracted by the neighbor bar music, which was 80s. I do notice a lot of girls here are pros.. so it does take a lot for a newbie guy to go and ask one of them to dance. But unlike at a club, girls would generally dance with a guy, at least once.. unless he smells or just plain sucks. haha. read more

I will caveat this review by saying that it is only for the salsa club and not for the restaurant. I dance salsa regularly and frequent different salsa clubs around LA. Granada is one of my least favorites. The Djs, dancers, and music are good, but it is management that makes this place fail in my book. I bought a groupon deal for food and entrance to the club for two. I call on Saturday morning to make sure my groupon can be redeemed for the band that evening and was told it was ok. I arrive later at night with my groupon in hand and am told that my groupon did not qualify for the band that evening. I tell the woman at the front that I had called earlier to confirm, and she simply said that was too bad. That after driving 30+ minutes to get here and having a groupon that would expire soon. Furthermore, they have some ridiculous rules such as no dips. Also, their dress code is one of the strictest I have seen anywhere. One of my friends actually had to go to Ross emergency style to by a long sleeve collared shirt since they would not let him in! The cover is also one of the priciest I have seen. You can get 2 hours of instruction and cover for $5 at other places! I understand that rules and dress codes are important, but the rules and dress codes should fit with what the establishment and ambiance the club is offering. I'm not saying that no shoes or shirt should be ok, but I am saying that this is a salsa club, not a Vegas VIP club. Nice designer t shirts and jeans are staples at other dance places, because they are comfortable to dance in! My new Salsa club. Came here for a birthday party and was pleasantly surprised. I started the night with dinner and drinks. Dinner is just ok, nothing spectacular. Next time I would eat elsewhere. I had the chicken taco, hot wings, and the coconut shrimp. All just pretty average. The dancing however is alot of fun. If you don't know how to dance, you can come early and take a really cool lesson so that you're not a wall flower later in the night. They have three dance floors to choose from. The main dance floor is the Salsa dance floor where they have a live band and lots of dancers. The second dance floor is a hip hop dance floor located outside. The third dance floor is a Bachata floor where they play exclusively Bachata, located upstairs. Overall, really fun ! Definitely will come again. read more

This review is for their salsa night on Saturday. I've been there a couple of times now and I don't know if I will come back. I got stepped on five times last night...yes the place is super crowded but on top of that a lot of dancers who don't know how to keep in their line of dance and end up stepping on everyone or hitting them; makes for a night of watching out who's coming at you next. Parking can be a hassle, their parking lot is small and sometimes you have to park very very far. I wouldn't feel safe leaving my stuff on the side. I do have to say that the band that plays there is excellent and there are still a good number of good dancers but the other negative points make me not want to come back... read more

What a great place to go salsa dancing! We came here for a girl friend's birthday party and had such an amazing time. The floor is huge, the live bands are phenomenal, and the culture is great! Oooooooh hunny ... I danced more here than I have all year! Talk about a WORK OUT! I swear I lost about 5 lbs! No need to be a pro,they give lessons at 8:30! So whether you're a beginner or pro you will have a great time ... Make sure that you wear comfortable shoes! The guys and gals here love to dance so you will be on the move all night. Ladies, you'll never lack for respectful and experienced dance partners here! There are plenty of serious salsa dancers here who are more than willing to teach you what they know, and you don't have to worry about being touched in places that no stranger should be touching. I believe tonight is the first time ever in a dance club where I did not have to slap anyone. There are free dance lessons at 8pm on Fridays, though by free I mean you have to pay the $15 cover charge. However, you get to stay the entire night until closing, so not a bad deal at all. A word of warning...stay away from the food and the drinks. If I were writing this review on the food, it'll be a 1-star review. And the drinks had almost no alcoholic content at all. Review based on my first and only visit to Granada. Parking is easy, free parking in a city lot across the street. Be careful driving past, since people inexplicably just stand around in the street or walk off the curb without looking. Cover was $20 and inside the building itself is pretty cool. Big dance hall space where the salsa dancing happens. Live band the night I went. Band was pretty good, songs were what you'd expect. Dance floor wasnt crowded. There were way more guys than girls, so there was always this group of hombres lingering around the dance floor between floors begging girls for a dance. Drinks arent cheap, about $15 for a mixed cocktail. Definitely pre game. Outside, there is a patio with a DJ, playing a mix of reggaetón, pop, and hip hop. It was nice just to be able to dip out of the main room and get some air. Staff were friendly enough, no issues with security or bartenders. Bathroom attendant got to smell my farts for $2. Mix crowd, with senior citizens from the old country and thicc 20 year olds. Advertised as open until 3am, but the band left by 145am. I took off at that point. Would go back. read more

Ha! I felt like I was dancing with the stars. Every guy dancing was so professional and taught me a few things. It's a little upscale and the music was a good selection of bachata, salsa, reggaeton... and the layout was very open and there was also seating available for a busy night. By far the best latin club I have been too. The dance floor was perfect for dancing and had more than enough space for everyone to do their shines. The dancers were all advance and the men made sure all the ladies had their chance to dance. That makes an awesome dance social. read more

***The crude and tacky way The Granada shows its customers how much they care and respect them.*** I took my daughter to celebrate her 21st birthday at The Granada last night. I booked a table and invited many family members and friends. We ordered food and cocktails collectively spending well over $1,500.00 on top of the table fee of $200.00. I was recovering from a cold and still had a little dry cough. I went to the bar with my brother in law & sister law they ordered cocktails, I asked for glass of water ( I was not drinking alcohol, recovering from a cold and taking care of our 19 person group) I was denied one by the bartender, and told I had to buy a $6.00 small bottle in the rudest possible way. I explained to him that we had a table that I was recovering from a cold that I just needed a glass of water. His response was dismissive, and arrogant, shrugging his shoulders as if to say "to bad" and pointed to the manager. I walked over to the manager Ramon he was also rude and aggressive and told me I would have to buy water if I wanted water, I told him I had bought a table for $200.00 and that we have ordered food we should be served water. He accused me of lying about ordering the food and went to confirm with our server. He came back and continuing in the same aggressive/rude manner and refused to give me water saying that I would have to get water from our server, mean while we are having this conversation at the bar where he is standing in front of the water/soda dispenser. It was a busy night and it took quite some time, meanwhile my throat was becoming more dry and irritated and I began coughing while I waited. The server brought 4 small bottles of water to our table where 8 people sat of witch 6 had ordered food and 8 where sitting. The fact that the club is a venue for dancing and they deny people water is appalling, People are being dented a basic human need under circumstances when they need it the most. engaging in a physical activity and drinking alcohol for witch The Granada is promoting. The food arrives, the chicken wings where cold ( they where obviously frozen and not cooked throughly ) we sent it back and asked for a completely cooked order, they literally brought the plate back within a few minutes scalding hot from being put in a microwave. Our server was good he did his best considering the manger telling him to limit the water he could give us. The band was great but the management is terrible and the policy of denying people water when they are sponsoring physically excreting event and the consumption of alcohol. Plain and simply unethical not to mention smarmy and dangerous to the health and well being of there clients. I recommend going to other venues in LA for Salsa and Bachata, Stevens Steak House or La Floradita, they care about there clientele's wellbeing. . read more

If i could give it 0 stars I would. Came here with 9 people to celebrate my friends birthday. We had slow service, mediocre food, and drinks filled with lots of ice and barely any alcohol. There was a $15 cover to get in even though we had reservations upstairs to eat and spent $250. We were told we could get most of our cover back since we were eating there. The waiter alluded to it being deducted from the bill but it wasn't. Then when I brought the bill downstairs it was only on certain items, which we were not told prior. We also tried to venture downstairs to watch our friends dance lessons and were told we could sit at any booth with no issue. Come to find out that was not the truth and they wanted to charge us another $15 per person just to sit in a booth downstairs. Screw this place it's a sham and crappy customer service. Dancing is a social experience. Dance classes are a social experiment. Note the difference. My parents are exceptional dancers, but apparently that gene missed a generation, and so I found myself signing up for salsa lessons at the Granada. I've heard from numerous people that this is THE place to go to learn salsa, and now I see why. Like a good Mexican restaurant, they're serious about their salsa. The basics: They have 3 different levels of salsa classes, but they also teach other types of dance like fox trot, jive, waltz, etc. They do have some rules though, you have to start in salsa 1 and 'pass' to the next level before they let you sign up for any salsa 2 classes. That's a smart move because they want to make sure you really know the steps before advancing you. The first week of the month is when the first class starts, and by the 4th week, they're ready to test you to see if you're ready to move on to the next level. Now, don't get your panties in a twist if you don't get that green sticker that says you're ready for salsa 2. It takes most people a few sets of classes to be completely comfortable with the steps to advance. They offer unlimited classes and a 6-class punchcard at seriously reasonable prices, even student discounts are offered. I like the flexibility of the punch card because I was able to miss a few and make up a few classes. Classes are offered 3-4 times a week, for an hour and a half just check the schedule. Here's the low-down on the classes: Tuesday night classes are the biggest. There are usually more girls than guys, but the proportion isn't too bad. The instructors are a husband and wife team who are energetic, knowledgable, and entertaining....definitely helps to dissiminate the awkwardness of 60+ people being forced to dance with each other. But beware, if you attend the same classes month after month, the jokes will be repeated and slightly less entertaining. Thursday afternoon classes are the smallest. They reserve the right to cancel a class if less than 10 people show, or shorten the class. In all the times I've been, that hasn't happened. The instructor for this class is Alicia, who is amazing. She's very focused on making sure you understand the movements. The downside to this class is that there's a lot more men than women....OLDER men. Now, I'm not age-ist or anything, but there's this one guy who is just a straight up creeper. He reminds me of Santa's creepy step-brother. However, everyone I've met in all the classes have been very friendly and nice. Is it awkward having to dance with a bunch of strangers in such close proximity? yes. Is it slightly uncomfortable to get up close and personal with someone you've never met to dance a sensual dance like salsa? Hell yes. However, most of the guys are really great, it's super fun, especially when you get the hang of it, you'll want to do it more. Which is great because after the tuesday night class, the Granada opens as a dance club, so stay and dance salsa! They don't care if you're new and don't know what you're doing. Ladies--wear comfortable clothing and shoes with an ankle strap. You'll thank me later. I saw this one girl dancing in these backless wedges...and well, it was pretty damn funny to watch. Oh, and pop a breath mint. Gentleman--wear comfortable shoes and clothing, wear deodorant but don't bathe in it, and pop a breath mint. Let the experiment begin! read more

I am actually a big fan of Granada, it's one of my favorite places to go dancing! I've been on Thursday, Friday and Saturday so I'll touch on the feel of each night. THURS: It's Bachata Night, so it's mostly Bachata and Merengue playing in the main room. If you love Bachata, it's a lot of fun. They play a few salsa songs here and there. I even learned a couple new ways to dance Bachata with some extra flavor haha. Great dancers! FRI: Is a mixture of Salsa, merengue, bachata and cha cha (but mostly Salsa). In the main room only. I don't think I've ever come to Granada and there weren't a good mix of great dancers. Fridays are fun as well. I think the cover is $10 on Fridays? SAT: My fave night to go because all the rooms are open. They have Salsa in the main room (usually a live band), Bachata upstairs on the 3rd floor and Hip/hop/Top 40 outside on patio so its a nice mix. I like having options of going from one room to another. The cover is $15 on Saturdays. All in all, I like Granada because it's spacious, has FREE parking in the structure across the street, great music and a great mix of dancers. I came back to the Granada for a friend's birthday on Saturday night. As before, it's still a great place to dance. The food, unfortunately, knocked it down a notch. Now, I'm no longer skinny (thanks a lot yelp ;-) ) and I really hate to waste money, but I could barely touch our tapas plate. Everything was so fried, to eat any more of it would have made me sick to my stomach. The one ok thing on the plate were the empanadas, but even they were a bit much. The chicken fingers were skinny and heavily fried. The "coconut shrimp" were so friend you could barely make out that they were ever shrimp. The "hot wings" were actually sweet and came with sweet sauce that was over the top sweet and oddly cold. The couple next to us got the "Spanish club" and chicken marsala. The told me it should have been called "Spanish gum". Yah, I don't know what that means either, but I imagine it's not good. The older Filipino gentleman told me the marsala tasted to him like a Filipino dish called "dinuguan" tastes to me. (Just trust me on this one - that's not a compliment). At least the mojito was tasty... As far as dancing goes, the main salsa dance floor still has great bands and plenty of good dancers. It still crowded, but most (not all) dancers try to stay in their slots thus avoiding stepping on you. It seems the club has changed the policy on dipping, as there was plenty going on. The third floor is designated for bachata. For those who don't know, bachata has taken over the Latin dance scene like wildfire over the past few years. The genre itself has been around for a long time, but a new group of up-and-comers have redefined for a whole new generation. It is a lot of fun, except that... ...one of the things I noticed was the bachata room was about two thirds men. I'm pretty sure that's because some of the movements of the dance can make grinding look tame. So, depending on how you look at it, you could say it was shady or an opportunity for women dancers looking for a partner!* ;-) For my non-salsa dancing friends I'm happy to report is that they added a third dance floor outside to play hip hop, funk, top-40 and non-Latin music. For those of you who like to go salsa dancing, but can never get your friends to go because they don't know how, now you have some place to take them in confidence. Overall, the Granada is still a good option for me, I just won't be likely to order the food. P.S. Granda folks - the red lights coming off the disco ball in the bachata room had this weird movement that was making me and my wife dizzy. No, I hadn't had a drink that night. Then we told the waiter because the kitchen was already closed and the cook seemed to mock with a Lady inside the kitchen. This is an awesome spot for salsa dancing. I first came here maybe five years ago after a coworker recommended the club. Saturday nights seemed to be more crowded, but also had better dancers (which can be either more fun or more intimidating...or both!). I don't know if that's still the case, but this place had great energy and a healthy mix of dancers when I was here last Friday night. Lessons usually end around 9:30 and open dancing is in full effect on the first floor by then. You'll find, as with most great salsa places, that the crowd at the Granada is diverse in ethnicity, age, and skill level. A live band has been here nearly every time I've been here to dance, which really adds to the fun! Their strict dress code makes it seem like they are a little more uppity than they really are. This isn't Steven's Steakhouse, and you should be able to get away with relatively casual dress, as long as you don't look sloppy. No flips, dips, or lifts. Coat/purse/phone check for $1 per item is SUPER convenient. Over the course of a dozen or so visits I've had a total of maybe 3 alcoholic drinks here, and water runs $3 a bottle, so I can't really speak to the strength or value of the drinks. Never tried the food either. On this visit my compadres Bridget P, Andre N, JR C, and James S were kind enough to stick around although we all arrived too late for the lesson. Ok, let's be fair... La Granada has a huge dance floor, well not that huge but a very decent one. They have free water, but then once it runs out it is GONE! They don't ever refill... The crowd is very diverse, has a younger crowd compared to the other salsa clubs I have been to. Their dance classes are kinda expensive. It's $15, or $10 if you sign up for the package. I don't know whether it is usually like that on the tuesday nights or it's just that night i went... there were definitely a lot more weirdos compared to the other ones. Oh also, slightly more drunk people.... I wonder ^_^ I wonder... not sure if i would come back...hmmmm But then one guy did teach me how to dance merengue and cha cha cha... Really fun place! Went on a Saturday night: COVER $15 cover includes class (8:30-9:30p) and open dance floor after 9:30p for all to enjoy! $2 coat/bag check, although I went at 8:30p and the lady was nice enough not to charge (thanks!). LESSON The one-hour overview is led by a really fine guy. He opens by teaching the most basic steps. Then, everyone makes a giant circle and we pair off, switching every 30 seconds or so, practicing the steps (and eventually, twirls) with different partners. The only challenge is that there's a lot of switching partner action and, perhaps, not enough time to get the steps down before having to start over with a new partner. Also, need more guys! When paired with another girl, one of us had to switch to doing the lead without even locking in our part - haha! Great review for those who might feel a bit rusty. SPACE Ground floor has a live band. Reserved seating (call ahead) and a bar in the back to quench your thirst. As a girl, random guys will simply approach you, just stand around and you'll find yourself in the zone on the dance floor. It really is a fun, interactive, non-sketchy place. Gets crowded later into the night, but just enjoy the Latin flava! Second floor has seating for dining. There's another dance floor on the third level. My friend introduced me to this place last year and I ended up having an amazing time. The atmosphere is very active and everyone is a great dancer. Even if you're not the best dancer you should totally go! Some nights are slower than others but every time I've gone its incredibly fun. Last call is at 1:50am . This dance floor is okay. Coming from the bay area where Latin dance is the night life of countless and the crowd is courteous and friendly; mostly working professionals going out to dance. So the crowd. Be cautious, there's a bunch of pigs out there just trying to feel up on girls and making misogynistic comments about them to other men. Bachata floor was DJ-ed by some dude and mostly play Prince Royce or Romeo Santos. It was somewhat crowded. Salsa had live band playing but I wasn't impressed by the selection. I don't know why it's hard to find a nice ballroom in LA when the Hispanic/Latino population is so big there. But compared to the East Bay/Bay Area, it sucked. This place sucked too. read more

The problem with dance clubs is this: if you go in as a single woman, the men tend to think, "Ooo. She's single. She must want to do me." So they leer, they grab, they grope, they grind against you, they act like those guys from that SNL skit. Yick. Enter the Granda, which allows me to get my salsa fix with a minimum of yickiness. Most people are here to dance, period. It's a classy joint (hey, I'm a classy broad); very clean with nice hardwood flooring, more like a dance studio than a club. The pre-dance dance lessons seem to be pretty good, and the live music tends to be top-notch. Some amazing dancers come here to show off their moves, and there are plenty of beginners, too. There doesn't seem to be a lot of pretensiousness, which is nice. My only complaint is how crowded it gets, but what club doesn't get crowded? I just leave when it becomes too claustrophobic. So, yeah, the Granada is definitely a good place to get your groove on. Unless, of course, you like being groped by horny strangers. read more

I absolutely love this place for salsa. They have a large dance floor, and a live salsa band. The Granada is the place for salsa dancing. Hard core salseros, dressed to the nine, strut their stuff on the dance floor, and do it well. These folks are passionate about the dance. You'll find some sexy, sequence wearing hotties, seductively moving their booty and swinging them hips. They're hot! This place is great for dancing salsa or for just watching the pros dance salsa. Door cover is: $15, but if you arrive at 8 PM, you can learn to salsa. They offer a quick, complimentary lesson. read more

Brother: The Dodgers game tonight Me: Aw, I can't tonight Well my cousin ended up getting seats right behind home plate while my brother lounged in the Coca Cola suite for the same Dodger game. Where was I? Sitting in my car for an hour waiting for my group who were stuck in hellish L.A. traffic as I listened on the radio the Dodgers having one hell of a game. Andre N. had invited four guests to take the popular Friday Night salsa 8:30pm class. So JR C., Bridget P., Vanessa H., and I trekked from different parts of LA to go down to The Granada. At the time it sounded like a great way to spend a Friday evening. As the time ticked away the night was starting to look like a bust. Why the 5 stars? Just past 9pm we actually ended up showing up at The Granada. First, we watched through the big window out front as we waited for the last person of our group to arrive. Once everyone got there we discussed for a brief moment if we wanted to go in or do something else. If Vanessa H., who drove a long way for some salsa, hadn't said she was going to stay I think I would have regretted not going to the Dodger game if we just went drinking. I loved her enthusiasm and I was also game to go in too. Since we arrived too late for the class we had to pay for the cover. At one point, I oddly became overjoyed as JR, Vanessa, and I peeked at the advance class through the curtain from the main entrance. We decided to go straight to the third floor to catch the tail end of the beginner class, the one we originally planned to be a part of. After the class session had ended, the floor was open to all and we took the opportunity to use our moves. Well Andre and I had some salsa background but we weren't sure of Vanessa. This is where my jaw dropped as she stepped onto the dance floor with Andre and strutted like a pro. I slowly backed away from intimidation to catch up with JR and Bridget who had gone down to the restaurant. I joined my friends JR and Bridget in the second floor overlooking the ballroom where everyone was salsa ing their heart out. "Whoa!" There are some skilled dancers out there from all walks of life. One of them looked like an old neighbor of mine and it just blew my mind as he burned the dance floor with a girl 30 years his younger. Step for step they stuck together and it looked like he was more energetic than she was. I was so enamored by everyone on the dance floor that I lost track of time. Overall, I had a blast and had no regrets at all. Would I be back? Hell yes! On the drive back, I made up my mind and was determined to return back to The Granada. I am signing up for their classes to learn old and new moves. read more

Came here on a Saturday night with a group and was blown away by the size of the joint, and also the amount of people there. It was a breath of fresh air to see peeps who had come out purely to cut a rug. Although it was a little pricey to get in ($15 per) it was well worth it. The money here looks like it is NOT made on alcohol, but on water b/c the peeps here do not stop dancing from start to finish. There is also a show by some of there top dancers that come out and entertain the crowd. The vibe of the spot is also very positive and is encouraging for peeps to dance. Words of adivice before coming here: 1. hydrate prior to going to club, 2. bring small towel(many others were),3. parking structure is packed by 11pm so arrive early. Have a great time! read more

Main dance floor on the first floor is 90% salsa with live band which switches over to DJ. Outside is urban spanish & Top 10. Bring your dancing shoes. Bring your moves. I went for the salsa night on a Tuesday, because it is FREE! No cover and free parking in a lot directly across the street! I enjoyed it! The DJ was great.... probably my favorite of any salsa night that I have been to. It was a very amiable crowd of people. I was intimidated going there, because I heard that the dancers here are crazy good, but I guess that is mainly on the weekends. There were some advanced dancers there, but I guess the classes they had earlier in the evening were beginner classes, because there were a lot of beginners like me there! So, I fit in better than I expected! read more
