    Atelier 1879 - Dining room

I hosted a surprise party here for my husband's birthday, and it went off without a hitch. Adisa and Adnan answered all my questions quickly in the months leading up to the surprise, and because an event was not planned the night beforehand, they even let me come and drop off beverages for chilling. We had Aya Sofia (Mediterranean restaurant in South STL City) cater the party, and they did a fantastic job of coordinating the drop-off and pick-up of their serving ware, and the food was a hit. We had an open self-service bar, which guests appreciated but did get a bit crowded as a lot of people tend to gather near the huge kitchen counter where the bar is located. The facility does have one step inside, but the Atelier 1879 team has made their facility fully accessible with a portable ramp that fits nicely over the step. Adisa and Adnan have thought of everything! Parking was not an issue for our guests. It's a residential neighborhood and is positioned next door to Yemanja Brasil Restaurant (which is delicious!). All in all, I could not have asked for a better venue and experience.

Venice Café is not just a place -- it's an experience. From…read morethe moment you walk in, you can tell this spot is different. The space is eclectic, artsy, and full of personality. It feels creative, fun, and unlike anywhere else. They had live music while we were there, which made the whole experience even better. One thing to note: it's cash only, so make sure you come prepared. This is the kind of place you go for the vibe, the music, and a good time -- not just the food. Highly recommend if you're looking for something unique and memorable in St. Louis.

I truly wanted to give this place 5 stars, I wanted to come back! But I am more than obligated to…read moreshare my experience: The vibe of this place and overall idea is fantastic. The staff... wow.. another story.. Outside bar had an AMAZING waitress, Jess, that truely made our nights and was so awesome and fun. Jess deserves a raise and if you go to Venice cafe avoid literally any bar tender except for Jess. The old lady bar tender on inside bar took two extra dollars from me (I guess thinking I wasn't gonna tip? ) despite me leaving three on the bar and me pointing it out to her. Then a very very large brown haired curly bearded man completely ignored me at the bar, at like 4pm it was me standing directly in front of the bar by myself while he had co convos and gave bar backs shots. I couldn't have made this up.. I couldn't think of anything to even say to address that wasnt not kind or out of pocket so I left. It was an unreal experience and from what I've heard about management just from patrons there they wouldn't care anyway, it was alienating and gross behavior. Venice cafe had a good reputation and it was on my list forever, but I've already shared with more of my groups that we can go somewhere else and be treated much better. I'd second guess this option unless Jess is working outside in the bar.

Their patio is fantastic when the weather is nice and creates a charming, upscale atmosphere. That said, the interior is just as inviting, with a romantic and moody ambiance that makes for a great evening out. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Our server, was friendly, knowledgeable, and offered great recommendations throughout the meal. You can tell the owner and chef take pride in creating a memorable dining experience. We started with the garlic herb fries, which were packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. I also ordered the classic Caesar salad, and it was authentic, fresh, and perfectly executed. For my entrée, I chose the strip steak, and it was outstanding--easily one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. The cook was flawless, the flavor was incredible, and every bite showcased the chef's attention to detail. Overall, this was a 10/10 dining experience, and I can't wait to return.

The parking lot had spaces available. We walked in and there was an event space on the right and a large sofa and chairs against the back wall. Signs indicated where to go for Bellwether so we went around the windows showing the climbing wall to the elevator. Upstairs we were greeted promptly and asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. We opted for inside and she led us down one level to the second floor. I think the building is really cool, and the restaurant is well appointed, exposed brick, cool lantern hanging lamps, bookshelves filled with books and odds and ends, Waitress was friendly, there were only a couple of tables on the floor, but she wasn't intrusive and let us take out time. It filled up more by the time we left. The menu had several things I wanted to order but ended up deciding on the breakfast fried rice. We also ordered the cinnamon roll for the table. Coffee was hot and kept refilled, but it was just ok. The cinnamon roll was tasty. The fried rice was great and the fried egg on top was well cooked and tasty. One of our party ordered a side of sausage, it was four links and they were good, another ordered the pork belly sandwich and that was one of my other choices, I tried it and was impressed! I thought it would be too sweet, but it was perfect. Viewing the pictures of dinner, can't wait to go back for that and sitting outside!
