Had a training that was followed by a meeting at The Grand. We had a continental breakfast which was adequate and a seated lunch which was very good. There were also snacks and a charcuterie board imbedded throughout our meetings. The location was great but the rooms were a tad bit cold. The only other negative was their sound system kept cutting in and out while people were speaking. All in all, this is a great location to have various different types of events. read more

I recently had an event catered here, and the staff could not have been better. Marissa, the event manager, took care of all the details and made the process of booking the room and selecting the food. Very simple for me. We used the Garden Room, the first one you see in the venue, with the built-in bar. It was perfect for our group of about 45 people. It could hold up to 90. Last thing, the food was very good and the staff did a good job with "passed trays ." I recommend letting them suggest a menu as they know what they are doing. I will use them again. read more

Yvette and Marissa were extremely helpful and gave great advice as to the DJ, who was absolutely fabulous, coordination of time with no need for a planner, etc... Everything was perfectly set up and flowed with NO problems thanks to the coordination between the crew and captain in charge of the event and the DJ. Photo Booth & caricaturists also did an amazing job! The Monarch was the perfect setting so that we moved seamlessly from the ceremony (grass area) to the cocktail and later to the ballroom. I have been to multiple events at The Grand. The lobby is warm and inviting, it always smells so pleasant, clean restrooms, nice large banquet rooms and the food is always on point! My cousin had her wedding here in 2009 and it was beautifully done. The outside garden area was large enough to hold all of our families and friends, it was a great layout with a lot of space and you could see the altar no matter where you sat. Fast forward to 2024 and this place is still just as nice as it was then. As a matter of fact, my high school reunion committee is planning on hosting our 25th reunion here and I cannot wait to see what the Grand has in store for helping us to make this one to never forget. read more

Our Gala Celebration with a Dinner and Dance was splendid. I loved the beautiful setting, and the staff cared for our every need, including the special tablecloths, delicious dinner, and dessert (the cheesecake was very sweet). I loved the giant screen on stage which united the many outdoor tables. We loved the giant-lit J62 backdrop letters placed indoors for impactful photos. The lighting was dreamy as day turned into night, and the parking was free and very convenient in the adjacent structure. The restroom was clean and another room was accessible to rest in. This is a perfect venue for a catered event. I came for a luncheon. They set up the tables as requested and catered the food. First we had a table with fruit, cheeses, nuts, and crackers. We had orange juice and champagne to make mimosas. I drank one right away so I could drive home safely. Also had ice water and coffee on the tables. The meal was eggs with chilies and cheese, and potatoes. There was salsa and ketchup available. We had 3 varieties of mini Bundt cakes. Chocolate was best. Chocolate is always the best. read more

I've attended a few events at this venue for both corporate events and other celebrations. A great plus is the adjacent parking building: there may or may not be a fee collected at the entrance depending on whether the hosting event is covering the cost. Elevator also in the structure if needed. Tonight's event was for a Retirment party that was held in their outdoor patio. Nice garden setup for maybe wedding or other celebration. The tables were arranged for the usual 10 persons each. I think that's ideal so there is enough elbow room for everyone. We got started with mixed greens salad and two dressings ( ranch or Italian) already on the table, and bread basket followed shortly. Our dinner entree was a choice of roast chicken and vegetables or a vegetarian option. I opted for the chicken which was still tender and juicy when it was served. Our servers were courteous and attentive, replenishing water and clearing away dishes. There was also a cash bar for cocktails and no charge for non alcoholic beverages included tonight. Also a separate area for coffee and tea service. The ladies' bathroom was clean and well lit, although the first stall I entered had no lock on the door. That might need someone to check out and repair or put an out of service sign. Audio setup was working well for the speeches - I can't count the times of annoying feedback and interruptions from other corporate events, those are never fun to sit through. Good ambient lighting and overhead sail type Shades for a daytime event. There were at least 6 overhead small planes coming and going due to proximity to Long Beach airport but no large passenger planes flew out tonight. Several other rooms for different sized crowds. The staff was very accommodating while we were decorating. They gave us water and adjusted the A/C when we requested. The only negative comments is that The ladies restroom was like an oven!!! I don't know if the air conditioning system wasn't working or if they had it turned down to conserve. But you go in there to powder your nose and you leave like you just left the sauna. I booked my baby shower for the Palm Terrace at The Grand and it was such a great experience from planning to end of the event!! Lauren was such a help figuring out all of the details and all I had to do was bring in some of my own decor for the theme!! It was warmer day than I thought it would be and I was initially worried the desserts would melt so I asked Elexis (she was SOO helpful!!) if they had an umbrella for that table -- they ended up brining out enough umbrellas to cover that table AND to help block guests from the sun! Maria V., Carlos and Maria M. Set up food stations, cooked, served guests, cleaned, and all in all made my party extra special. They were overly prepared for all possible issues. We ran out of cooler space for ice and drinks--- they had extra and were happy to help. Our space was challenging... no problem, they adjusted and made it work without skipping a beat. There was about 300 guests and I believe the max capacity is around 500-600 guests. It has a huge dance floor about 700 sq.ft. It has a huge stage, Venetian columns, a private patio nearby, a cocktail area, beautiful ceiling drapes, awesome PA sound system and great lighting. The birthday was beautiful. We had a grand time. The Grand is within walking distance to hotels. It is about 20 mins drive to LAX and 5 mins from the Long Beach airport. Parking is complimentary and there's plenty of them in their parking garage.
