This venue is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES to shoot weddings at. the vibe, the architecture, the staff. it's all amazing. one thing I love about venues as a photographer is the efficiency of space. having to move all over the place takes up precious time. especially photographically. but Ebell Long Beach doesn't have this issue. with the ceremony space in the main atrium (which gets converted to the cocktail hour and reception space after) and the dinner space in the adjacent room, you dont have to worry about you and your guests having to navigate to multiple areas. if you're looking for an elegant and timeless location I would hands down recommend booking here. then hitting me up and booking me to shoot it lol cause I could shoot here every weekend if I could. that's how much I love it.

Had our wedding this past October at the Ebell. It was perfection and then some. My husband and I had been discussing marriage/wedding things prior to being engaged, and when we talked about what venues we would be interested in, we knew we wanted it to be local and unique. When we both came across the Ebell (which is conveniently a five minute drive for us), we were in love (with the venue, but like, obviously with each other too). A few months later we got engaged and booked a tour of the Ebell. We met with Jen, who from the start was so warm and welcoming and fun to talk to. When I tell you pictures don't do this place justice, I mean it (and the pictures of this place are already BEAUTIFUL). Each room in the venue is different and has its own vibe. We left convinced it was our spot. We even toured another place after, had other appointments scheduled to tour other venues, but we knew after seeing it that this is where we wanted to be, so we dropped the rest and booked asap. Booking the venue was a breeze. Throughout the whole planning process Jen was amazing and so responsive. Any questions we had, she answered them promptly. Once you book, you are provided with a recommended vendor list, which I'm so grateful for! It was also so easy to connect with Jen in the event we wanted to stop by to look at the venue, or do a tasting. Cut to about 1.5 months before the day, and we met up with Katie, who went through the day of planning with us and clarified any questions/provided suggestions on how to make our event run smoothly. It put a lot of the day into perspective and it was awesome to be able to play it all out prior to the day of. Finalizing everything was relatively easy as well and Jen and Katie were so professional and easy to communicate with. On the day of, everything was legitimately perfect. I walked into my wedding day anticipating certain things could be off, or something could go wrong (I've been to so many weddings in the past to know these were possibilities, lol). Alas, literally nothing did. The service was impeccable, staff was so friendly and accomodating, and the event ran so incredibly smooth timewise. Friends and family had nothing but nice things to say about the venue, the ambiance, and the service and food. It's been almost a month and I am still reeling about the day and how the Ebell was the perfect venue to personify our day. It was ~vibes~ for sure. Now I will wait for a friend or family member to get married here so I can come and enjoy the venue as a guest! All photos uploaded were taken by our photographer Shore and Wave :)

If you're looking for a Spanish/ Boho/ Vintage vibe. This is the spot. The texture of this place is really exciting to shoot against. Bold exposed beams, dark stained wood frames...it's history oozes through the photos. The place feels very grown up. Very mature. Thinking back on it reminds me of cigar lounges and red lipstick.

Hosted our wedding in March of this year and we're blown away by the service we received. We were lucky enough to work with Jenn mostly and day-of coordination with Katie. They were both so professional and eager to answer any and all questions we had. Their prices aren't the cheapest , but are completely justified by the level of service from start to finish. ALL of our guests absolutely loved the venue and still rave about its beauty when we see them today. The food was also amazing, which shouldn't be a surprised since they are partnered with TresLA Catering! Wish we could host a party every year here!!

Previously before getting married, I had helped to coordinate wedding at Ebell and instantly knew afterwards that it was the perfect wedding venue for our future wedding! Fast forward a year later and we find ourselves in the middle of a pandemic. When Ebell opened again for tours, we knew we had to visit ASAP in order for us to be able to book a date. Marianne was extremely helpful at the beginning of the process and once we turned in our contract, we had the pleasure of meeting and working with Jen. Throughout the process, Jen, Matt and Katie were timely and effective with their communication, and put to rest any worries or concerns we had. On our wedding day, Katie, Gogo, and the whole staff were rockstars! They made the day run seamlessly and smoothly. Our compliments to TresLA for preparing a delicious meal and the bartenders for doing a top notch job! Our guests gave us tons of compliments on the food and drinks, and were thoroughly pleased! It was such a pleasure working with Ebell and TresLA and would recommend them to anyone!

One of the venue's must take picture spots.

Just had our amazing wedding at the Ebell LB. Jen and Katie are great to work with. It's a beautiful ands large venue. Our guest are still talking about this place. Has beautiful chandeliers, and nice deco tile floors. It's a breathtaking venue.

We hosted our company holiday party at the Ebell and had an amazing experience! Loved working with everyone on the team and the food was fantastic! Would love the opportunity to do an event here in the future!

The Ebell Long Beach is romantic, elegant, and unique. From the moment we walked inside the building, we knew it had to be our venue (I actually thought it was going to be perfect based on photos alone, and seeing it in person only confirmed things for me!). After visiting, I could not picture getting married anywhere else, and I knew we had to book the Ebell. It photographed beautifully and set the tone for a perfect day. From the breathtaking ceremony hall with the cool tile work, to the special "green room" where you will take the most romantic photos of the day, to the parlor with the quirky, vintage décor, I can't say enough glowing things. And our guests also gave the venue rave reviews, which only went to make us feel even more assured in our venue decision. An added bonus is that the building has history (it was a 1920's women's philanthropic club), and you can tell. The vintage feel of the building is felt throughout the décor, light fixtures, wallpaper, etc. Jen and the Tres LA team were great to work with, and the food was very good (from what I ate, which wasn't all that much because we were so busy seeing people. Brides, remember to eat if you can!). Tres LA even worked with us on certain tweaks to the menu to fit our desires (I highly recommend the ice-box shot desserts). They have great relationships with vendors, and we particularly found their list of recommended vendors to be useful. A few notes: It is not a huge venue -- I'd say 200 people is the most you can fit comfortably. We had 200, and I was worried it would be too tight, but it ended up being just the right amount of cozy. Also, there are certain rules about moving furniture (which you really can't do), confetti/sparklers, etc. that are a little limiting due to the nature of the venue. It wasn't an issue for me, but if you want an "anything goes"-type venue, that's just something to keep in mind.

The space is amazing! Some might say some areas may a little outdated, but I say it has its own little charm. Beautiful venue, but the parking situation leaves for a one less star review. You either have the option of street parking (if you're lucky) or parking in the church parking lot a block away. However, you have to park at your own risk. And if you do park in that lot, time is very limited. I felt like the reception had to be cut shorter than I expected because of all of us who did park in that lot had to move our cars. They use Tres LA catering services. I had the pleasure of being a part of my brother's tasting menu and helped decide to final menu items for the big day. The director was a delight. She was so friendly and lovely. At first, choosing options from the tasting menu definitely felt a little overwhelming and extensive, but honestly, it's better to have more options to choose from than to have very little. The food on their big day was delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked. Overall, the venue was spectacular - from the distinguished parlor and to all the suites. Loved the gorgeous architecture accented by beautiful chandeliers and vibrant greenery! Thank you for existing to make my brother John and sister-in-law Tristan's wedding a night to remember!

We fell inlove with the Ebell Long Beach right from the beginning and knew that this would be the perfect place to host the most important day of our lives, our wedding. The venue itself is stunning. So much so that over the course of the planning, every time we came back, we had to pause for a moment to just take it all in. Our events manager Jen was a joy to work with! She was always prompt, engaging, friendly, and gave great recommendations. The wedding day came and the venue was on point, service was great and the catered food from Tres LA delicious. Our guests loved the venue, enjoyed all the food and everyone had a truly wonderful time. The venue definitely played a big part in making our wedding more than we could have hoped.

My wife and I discovered The Modern during a special event right before I proposed, and we knew that if we ever got married, this would be the place. Following our engagement, we had a tour of the place with Mary, and we were 1000% convinced with the place since Mary came with the package lol. The communication throughout the course of our planning was outstanding, and both Abel and Mary addressed all our inquiries and concerns without hesitation and with clear answers. While the conditions of the contract initially seemed rigid, all guidelines and expectations were stated clearly, and both Abel and Mary provided all the support necessary to ensure the vendors understood and executed per the contract accordingly. All terms of the pricing were transparent, and we found the costs to be worth every penny, as we were 1000% satisfied with the venue. Through the course of our two-year planning, Abel and Mary were available and offered the walkthroughs necessary for the vendors and us to plan accordingly and execute an impeccably perfect wedding. Mary did an outstanding job and exerted so much patience with both my Wife and I through the course of food and drink tasting. She assessed our preferences and perfected our specialty cocktails and food menu to reflect my wife, our guests, and I. We appreciated the opportunity to host our rehearsal brunch at their Kitchen and Bar located below the venue. Our guests enjoyed getting a small taste of the delicious food and drinks they'd be having the following day at the actual wedding. The day of the wedding could not have unfolded so perfectly, both aesthetically and logistically. Abel and Mary coordinated and collaborated in unison with our group of vendors, and they really outdid themselves by providing the foundation to our dream wedding, literally. They did an amazing and efficient job at flipping the venue space for the reception. All while our guests were enjoying themselves in the lavish lounge during cocktail hour. The venue itself is perfect. It is very modern, clean, spacious, classy, and their furniture and greenery were the perfect accessories necessary to complete our wedding day. And that's not all. The VIEWS are one of a kind as the venue has an entire wall space made up of windows that overlooks Long Beach Airport and an outdoor terrace that allowed us and our guests to enjoy the views. We literally had airplanes flying up and down during our entire wedding, with a grand exit of us flying off in a helicopter. My wife, our guests, and I cannot believe how perfect the entire day turned out. They will not stop raving about how perfect and beautiful everything turned out. From the food to the drinks and the wonderful bartenders, and of course to how magically, beautiful our wedding was. None of which would have been possible without the fantastic venue, Abel, Mary and their team. While we are saddened to turn the chapter from the wedding planning and wedding, we are so so so happy we chose The Modern. The Modern and team will forever be embedded in our hearts and beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you, Mary, Abel, team, and The Modern!

I had breakfast here this weekend. The waiters were friendly and attentive as always, and it's nice to see familiar faces. The food, though, has really gone downhill. I'm not a picky eater, but the biscuits and gravy were just... gross. The biscuit was flat and mushy, and the gravy was bland and clearly out of a can or bag. It even had these thin, uniform little squares of sausage in it, more like something you'd find in dog food than the small chunks of fried, browned sausage you'd expect. Biscuits and gravy is like 90% just made of flour, so I have a hard time believing the premade version is actually saving much money over making it fresh. The kitchen already goes through so much sausage that it seems like an easy fix to use real drippings and meat instead of whatever this was. The hash browns were bland too, undercooked inside and overcooked outside. And the "maple syrup" was high fructose corn syrup with brown dye and flavoring. No one wants to feed that to their kids. I'd happily pay a dollar more for real syrup. Everyone's cutting costs these days, but there has to be more pride and care put into the food you serve patrons. We love this restaurant and hope to see the quality back to where it was. The waiters and cooks deserve better ingredients to work with, and the neighborhood regulars who count on this place deserve better too.

We had no staff member present for our wedding rehearsal to answer questions, literally no one was there. Not our details coordinator nor our 'venue captain.' They said they assign them the week of and she would reach out to me the week of to go over details, but that never happened. My wedding day they assigned me a girl who no showed, another girl who no showed, and then our actual captain who went over our wedding details 30 minutes before my wedding and she said all she was in charge of was food. Our DJ lost power, she made no effort to fix it, we had to fix it ourselves! We requested our desserts be kept warm in silver chafing dishes in two different details meetings and the day of. The day of our details coordinator said we never talked about that (not true) but would do it. Our dessert was served ice cold in neon green serving trays with our wedding cake, VERY disappointing. When we went back for second plates all of our staff serving food and captain were huddled talking in the kitchen rather than being ready to serve us. The soda fountain we paid $400+ for was soda cans in a small metal ice tub. Booking they say they give you two hours to set up before your wedding. Not true. They start setting up their part two hours before and once they had all the tables down then we could set up. They say they are transparent about booking in the same space before you. They didn't tell me they booked a baby shower until 3pm when my wedding was at 6pm until I asked the day before. **If you book, negotiate to be the only booking for that space** A two hour set up right before our wedding was awful! We had to set up in full hair and make up and missed many first look opportunities. The worst part was after working like crazy to get it all ready right before we walk down the aisle, our details coordinator brought in other potential clients to show off the space. Instead of ensuring our desserts were taken care of. Would not recommend for a wedding.

The newly renovated property is gorgeous and the location is excellent; just steps from the beach and promenade. The valet and door staff were also good. Unfortunately, they were the exception. Service throughout the rest of the hotel was consistently disappointing. Restaurant service was painfully slow and the food was mediocre at best. Bar staff routinely ignored guests until being approached. Housekeeping failed to refresh towels or water, and somehow folded a used, wet towel and put it back for us to use. The biggest issue came during a heatwave, when scheduled AC maintenance left our room without air conditioning from approximately 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Then, just before 3 a.m., the fire alarm sounded three times over about five minutes before we were finally told it was a false alarm. Our toddler woke up and didn't get back to sleep until 4 a.m. When we raised this with the manager on duty, James, the following morning, there was no apology or empathy. Instead, I was basically told, "I had to be here all night and deal with it too." Not exactly the response you'd expect at a Fairmont. The pool area was also poorly maintained, with used towels, glasses, and trash left around the deck. It's unfortunate because the property itself is stunning and has tremendous potential. But luxury isn't just a beautiful building. It's planning maintenance appropriately, responding when things go wrong, keeping the property clean, and making guests feel like their experience matters. I will say that Jack, another front desk manager, showed remorse during checkout as he waived the resort fee. In our travels, we've found that the difference between a 4 and 5-star experience typically lies within service. The Fairmont Breakers has the five-star aesthetics but the service has much needed catching up to do.
