Check in was easy but when at the concierge desk I asked if there was anything going on the weekend I was there they stated no but in fact there was so many event going on in the resort! There was a bourbon tasting, movie night at the indoor pool and a dinner for a sorority! Also you could pay 100 in the cigar lounge to attend an event! There is no buffet for breakfast you just dine in that wasn't explained to us! We had a 150 voucher dining credit and I kept telling our servers that they never applied it to the voucher so we went to the gatsby on my birthday and spent the 150 in there! We ended up over spending because they never explain how to use the vouchers you get when you buy a package! The champagne that came with the anniversary package was nasty I wanted to exchange it for wine and they wouldn't I don't drink champagne. I think you should be able to choose if we want wine or champagne. Friday (day of birthday) it smelled like weed really heavily! It was so over baring!!! On Thursday it didn't smell like that but Friday and Saturday it was bad and it just made the experience not so good for me! I was so excited to stay here and been wanting to come and have that happen just put a bad taste in my mouth! Friday everything was loud and there was a lot of ppl everywhere! Kids screaming and running the pools were over crowded and it wasn't peaceful anymore! I stayed in my room all day on my birthday! Sad I just wanted to go home so we checked out early Saturday! I won't be back! My favorite place was the cigar lounge and the sauna only peaceful spots in the resort! Bae felt like it was over priced because of the kids and weed smoke and the young adults running around cussing and just being them! Didn't get to experience the Roman bath too many young ppl splashing around and being dum and complaining that they were cold! Our room was clean bed was comfy and pillows was comfortable! All the staff was nice except our very first server she was mean, and I didn't like her attitude. We had questions because this was our first time here at the resort and we didn't know what any of the food items were in. Stagnant milky colored water that gets no attention 24/7 cuz it's open around the clock . The food was not good. Everything overcooked. A burger was well done. Salmon seemed microwaved. All not good. Thank god for the Chop House next door. Fantastic dining experience and good food for half the price of the resort. Of course it's the only restaurant there NOT affiliated with the hotel and it shows because It was actually good with real and mature servers you'd expect . The rooms are very middle road for being high priced. Small. The bathroom is a joke and they have shower curtains with the tub for a 400 dollar a night "luxury" room. Not even an exhaust fan in the bathroom. The tv selection of cable is worthless and the beds are not good either. No elevator in the hotel for guests. What?!?!!! lol Staff doesn't give a rats ass about you - in fact, we overheard many of the kids they call staff ragging on this resort. They hate working there. Consierge? They don't know the meaning of that position. Clueless helpless people. . We made our time fun as we are those kinds of people but overall. The service sucks. Everyone there seems like a dead-eyed, don't give a shit 20-something summer worker. they probably don't care because they are dealing with buzzed country clubbers all day which can't be fun. A douchey atmosphere of people. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It's overpriced. The Roman pool is gross and needs maintenance and is tiny. It's filled when 30 people are in it. The food is mid to bad and everything comes with an overpriced charge. I could have gone on a flight and hotel stay for the same price as driving here and staying 3 nights and 4 days. . We came. What a lovely way to spend a weekend! I stayed at The Grand Resort for my sister's birthday, and it truly did not disappoint. The property is beautiful and luxurious, and from the moment we arrived everyone made us feel incredibly welcome. The rooms were spacious, the beds were wonderfully comfortable, and since we booked a package, we were greeted with a charcuterie board and wine -- such a nice touch. We took full advantage of the spa and enjoyed several services, including pedicures, facials, and deep tissue massages. I opted for the 90-minute massage and... absolute heaven. Truly one of the highlights of the trip. We also dined at Gatsby. While I had just had my wisdom teeth removed and couldn't fully indulge, everyone else's food looked fantastic and they couldn't stop raving about it. Special shout-out to Jimmy for being such an amazing and attentive waiter. Lastly, we spent time at the Roman Pool, and even at the start of winter it was incredible. The water temperature was perfect and kept us nice and warm -- just be prepared for the cold air when getting out, because that part is definitely not for the weak! We're already planning a return visit since we didn't get to experience everything the resort has to offer. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I would gladly recommend to anyone. Being just over an hour from pittsburgh, this is a real gem. A friend and I went for a weeknight stay at the grand resort. Service was impeccable, even bringing me a drink when I was in the pool. There are lots of food options all day, and nine bars available. I've been here before in the winter for a wedding. The Roman bath pool is open all seasons. The four of us stopped in for dinner. Not a great experience. Tyler served us and never removed one plate, glass or piece of silverware the entire meal. The peppers in oil were the highlight of the meal. All the mixed drinks looked great on paper but were not executed very well. First time guest- long time follower! What an eventful 2 night stay we had at the lovely resort! We came in a bit earlier than check in to find our room was ready and just steps away from the lobby. Every corner you turn you can get a drink- as bars are all over the place. We had apps and drinks at the Lobby bar next to the fire. Then we enjoyed The Roman bath which was quite relaxing after traveling- it was steaming hot while the snow was falling was break taking! My husband had a wonderful massage the next day followed by a wine and chocolates pairing at Gatsbys! Joe the piano player filled the room With beautiful music as we paired wine and choc with Brian. Made reservations to eat at the Atrium restaurant like we do monthly, only to be sat in the middle of the lobby bar. It was a terrible experience. The table was located in the middle of the connecting entrance to the restaurant. Non stop traffic, LOUD, and a high top table with bar stools. The bar stools had uneven legs so the rocked. They also do not have anything on the tables to rest your legs. We asked to be seated in the restaurant portion but we were told nothing was available. Meanwhile from our terrible table that could see in the restaurant we could see at least 4 open tables. This experience makes me want to never go back. It's a shame because the food is good. I'm a newer member here and I really love it. I travel an hour 1-2 times a week right now from Akron, in the summer just to enjoy it. Pros: amazing pool, nice servers, pretty good food, a lot of amenities and nice hotel if we do stay. Cons: drinks are pretty expensive and not strong, tip is already included so you might accidentally tip more than needed. EDIT: just had some of the worst service of my life here. This place looks amazing!! The Vegas style pool area and golf course are beautiful. Truly. The Chop House food was delicious and cooked perfect. The room was spotless clean. Where this place falls flat is the quality of sleep and room amenities. The are proud to have Keurig machines in the rooms that they pair with the most tasteless private branded coffee I've ever had! The air conditioner is the old in the wall style - so noisy and inefficient- but they don't even have wall control units like a Hampton Inn does. The bed I had was rock hard. There is also no elevator to the 2nd floor. Yep. Carry your luggage up the stairs. It's a great location to hang out at, with amazing amenities, but I can't recommend sleeping there. read more

I was under the impression that this hotel was upscale but quickly realized upon arrival that it was not. No bell hops, no welcome. We had to park and walk in to get help with our bags. The presidential suite was nice. It was clean. However, we called for more towels but no one showed up so my niece had to dry off with a hand towel. Also, the suite was only half cleaned on day two. One bed left unmade. Kitchen not cleaned and dining room table not wiped. The service was terrible and the pool waitresses were clueless. There was a problem with every single meal we had there. Attention to detail was lacking and the food was very average. At the pool there was a couple who seriously needed to get to their room because no one really wanted to watch them literally on top of each other in a very heated moment. At breakfast, one person in our party waited 45 minutes to get her credit card back after paying her bill. I will say that the spa services were good and my tech did a great job... I skipped going to Nemacolin this year and went to this place instead and I regret it. My analogy of this "resort" is "A dumb girl in a pretty dress." Looks good but not very smart. The spa is a tourist trap. Beware! I booked a facial with dermaplaning. At the beginning of my appt, after being upsold eye patches and a sheet mask for use during my facial for an additional $50, I asked about the dermaplaning process. At this point I was informed that the lady performing my facial doesn't have that certification, and I wouldn't be receiving that service. No one informed me of this. I was able to book the appt to include dermaplaning, and it was on my itinerary at check in. I voiced my concerns to the front desk lady. She didn't even acknowledge that I was speaking. Completely stone face! I asked her for a print out of the bill 3 times. I never received it. I say all of this, and still haven't even touched on the facial itself! They have no equipment in the room. No extractions, no pore clearing.... It was just layers of gels/oils/lotions. I can give myself a better facial at home. It was pathetic. Beware! This "spa" is a joke. I will also add that there is not one elevator in the entire resort. The spa is located in the basement. If you're not able to use stairs, don't bother! read more

This review is only for our visit to The Atrium restaurant here at The Grand Resort. We sat outside near the pool on this hot day however outdoor tents and fans kept us cool. We had a large party so service got slow at times but not so much as to make us unhappy. OK selection of craft beers of which were ice cold. I decided on the Toasted Italian Hoagie which consisted of salami, pepperoni, capicola (Gabagool), provolone, in-house hot peppers in oil, lettuce, tomato, onion and Italian dressing all on a toasted club hoagie. This was a damn good hoagie that contained all of my favorite sangwich meats. Their house made peppers in oil are spot on as well. Side of fresh cut fries made this a pretty good choice for a nice lunch to celebrate a wonderful young lady's commencement. Solid 4-stars. read more

On August 17, 2021 at The Grand Resort Hotel and Spa in Warren, Ohio I was sexually assaulted by the massage therapist Daniel Sharfal, during a couples massage with my wife. We reported the assault to EVERYONE at the hotel, Including the general manager Kelli Denman, who allegedly "passed this information along to appropriate department heads". I was told by the spa director, Penni Mokros, that "nothing could have happened" because "there was no disruption in service and if something did happen I should have just got up and left." Shortly after returning home I reported the incident to the Ohio state licensing board. November 2022 the attorney general's office calls me -they have filed action against Daniel because ANOTHER report (assault)was made against him and they are pursuing action against his license. He is still employed at the Grand Resort Spa and hotel. February 3rd, 2023 While I am at the Ohio Board at Daniels licensing hearing, along with the other said victim, Spa manager Penni was reported to have handled the situation in August by calling the massage therapists for a meeting and stating "it's just dykes who don't like men" There is no formal ruling yet by the board but I will not be silent in wait. This man continues to be employed! I am here to warn fellow women. This should not happen to one more person. The hotel & the spa handled this situation with an incredible amount of discrimination and negligence. read more

I really really wanted to have a great experience here at the spa. I really needed some down time and my favorite "me" thing to do is go to a fantastic spa with a wonderful service . While the facility is lovely, the quality of the services leaves much to be desired . Upon arriving they show you the locker room and you get changed into robe and slippers and then go into what would be considered or thought to be a relaxation area prior to your services / coffee, water and snacks are available which is a nice touch . There was much hustle and bustle of the staff going through this area / changing sheets / transporting supplies etc through this room - I thought it was kind of odd and somewhat distracting but not terrible . I arrived at 9:40 for a 10:00 appointment but was still in the "sitting room" until 10:15 - so the service didn't start on time - nobody let me know what was going on / but still - not that big of a deal . I booked a body scrub which was maybe a "6" out of 10. The tech was pleasant And the service was ok - I was instructed I could take a shower afterwards since I had a one hour massage scheduled as well . my massage was with Catherine . I had booked a relaxation massage not a deep tissue . I do not like the tech's weight laying on me - I don't want to be jostled around / poked at and I definitely don't want somebody putting pressure on my spine . I would say without a doubt that this was one of the worst - maybe THE worst massage I've ever had (and I've had many massages ). She was never in the muscle - just had her weight pressed on me the whole time - palming my skin with a repeated "petting " motion that was painful at the same time because she was pressing so hard she was stretching my skin everywhere - she was pinching me - she was on my spine back and forth - at one point she just forcefully pressed my hips so hard that my back felt like it snapped out of place and is STILL hurting . The final straw was when she repeatedly pinch my leg because she was pressing so hard . My muscles were never massaged - just a lot of pressure on my skin . I stopped the massage and told her i didn't like her style - it wasn't for me. and I was halting the massage . She said in a crappy tone "are you a licensed massage therapist "? I said I am not but I know what I like and this isn't it . She was totally defensive and acted like a jerk . I will NEVER step foot back in the place . It's overrated - the pricing I believe was in line with the area - but then again I paid for nothing . I did pay for both of my services and I tipped the girl who did my exfoliating scrub . The girl at the front desk was nice and did ask if I wanted to have the number for the spa director but I really didn't - I'm not going back there so it really doesn't matter . Had "Catherine " been more professional when i stopped the massage I would not be writing this review right now . This is the way of customer service in 2024- it doesn't exist and that's why I will never set foot in the place again . Businesses wonder why they are losing business ....this is why. Next we tried to hit the the range golf balls at like 730pm (2hrs before sunset) and everything is closed. Really, I thought this was a resort in the summertime?? Let me start by saying I've stayed in hundreds of hotels across the country and around the world as a professional actor, that being said, one thing can make the biggest difference when you stay somewhere and it has nothing to do with the room. It's kind service, across the board. That is lacking here. From the second i arrived the bellhop complained about how hard it was to bring my bags to the room.... Even if it was you don't do that, and especially after i was throwing money at him (i didn't literally, i just tipped him a lot) Next being a guest for 4 days/3 nights you have access to everything, i went to the gym twice and both times they made me feel like i wasn't in the system and that they didn't believe i was a guest even though i had a band on my wrist that indicated i WAS. Next the food service, they are in desperate need of an F & B manager, there are only so many times i can hear "we're understaffed" when i am watching our waiter stand at the podium talking and I'm waiting an HOUR on a drink.... A beer that is sitting on the bar waiting. Not only once but TWICE two separate meals. He could have made the business and himself so much more money if he managed his tables. The rooms are NOT worth the price and are not all equal. So ask before you book. Is it pretty, yes, is it overpriced, yes, should they have used the "30 million" they spent on renovations on a management team to teach the employees (mostly kids) how to better serve YES!!.... There is plenty of seating and we were seated almost instantly. Our table started with a round of drinks prior to ordering our meal. Once we put our order in we didn't get our food for well over an hour. The waiting staff was not attentive and gave us no warnings of a backed up kitchen, low staff, etc. the restaurant had limited guests eating, so we were confused why it was taking so long. So instead of taking some ownership, they did nothing with the rate and didn't even upgrade me. They said I made the mistake at booking. Went to Gatsby's at the Grand Resort for our anniversary. We won't be going back though. While the restaurant was elegant & the service excellent, the food wasn't great. Overpriced steak - husband got the aged ribeye (about $70) and his was ok - I got the NY strip ($45ish?) which I ordered MEDIUM-came out rare, sent it back, came back still raw in the center, went back again, came back well done. 1(*/)_/ The mashed potatoes were STONE cold, told the waitress, got another MP, which were also stone cold. We still tipped the waitress very very well (it wasn't her fault) but we won't be back. (They did have Gluten Free bread which was a plus, & dessert was very good) Food is much better at TARA - and it's not overpriced there, and atmosphere is better. Another thing was we were very dressed up - and although all the men wore jackets as required, most of of the women were dressed down- one had on jeans. This place should be renamed instead of the Grand Manor resort it should be called the Grand manure resort because all we receive from these people was utter crap! I have never in my life been treated so poorly when I inquired about making a reservation. When I found out for that price all we received with a room for two nights and they refused to give us any kind of price list for any of their other services. We were treated like something they would scrape off of the bottom of their shoe. I would assume that any reputable business would be happy to supply you with a price list so you would know what your little weekend getaway might cost you. You can reserve the room with no money down but read the fine print folks it is non-refundable. This place sounds just a little on the shady side considering my friend just came back from Mexico for a week at a five-star resort and including airfare massages jet skis etc for $2,000. And I was planning a trip to Arizona to Sedona in a five-star super host Airbnb with only $160 a night and included a morning yoga session not to mention other amenities this Airbnb is located in cathedral canyon near oak Creek. This crappy Little spa in Warren Ohio thinks that they can Garner 1,084 for a room with two double beds. When I inquired what came with the room I was told a mini fridge LOL are you kidding me so does the Holiday inn Express and probably motel 6. Who do you people think you are? You are out of your freaking minds and you have the nerve to hang up on paying customers who want to make a reservation not once not twice three times in the same day. You are in Warren Ohio what kind of scam are you people running? My friend did receive a text back from your establishment offering a list of other hotels. If I could give 0 stars I would. Yes, the resort is gorgeous. Yes, it's overpriced. No, it's not worth it. It fell short on more than one category but I'm going to focus on the spa. I scheduled a 90 minute deep tissue massage. After standing in the waiting area (because all the seats were taken, super relaxing) I was finally called back as "Kaseys friend" because the front desk and therapist weren't capable of communicating. Super professional. What I received was nothing short of getting oil rubbed around for 90 minutes. I told my therapist, Allen, I'd like it firmer to no avail. I won't go into detail but it was hands down one of the worst massages I've ever had. While checking out not one person asked how everything was. Frustrated, I decided I would wait to tell a manager about my experience. The manager, Penny, called me the next day. After talking in circles, she was nothing short of dismissing my feelings and experience, offering a 10% discount on my next massage. Lol. Insulted and beside myself I decided to end the call as it wasn't going anywhere. I'm not interested in ever going back. As a director, Penny displayed the most pathetic customer service that I've ever received in my entire life. Had she have heard me or even empathized an ounce, I wouldn't be writing this. I was at the Avalon as a speaker for a meeting. I decided to go to Gatsby's for dinner. The meal was really pretty good. There was a tasty amuse bouche . Bob my server, was very knowledgeable about the menu and made solid suggestions. The room is quite lovely. I had the special Gatsby salad which was quite tasty and then Chilean sea bass with a jalapeño honey cream sauce accompanied by a Boursin and wild mushroom risotto. Dessert was well-caramelized vanilla bean brûlée. The high point for me was the amazing jazz piano artistry of Joe Augustine. What a treat! Joe has traveled throughout the world performing with symphonies, his trio, in large venues and jazz clubs. If you can, time your dinner at Gatsby's when Joe is making musical magic on the beautiful Steinway piano. He generally plays one night a week. Be there on that night. read more

I am giving 4 stars because of the staff...We stayed in this hotel twice, once last year on our way cross country, and the same this year. The hotel, although somewhat dated is very comfortable and suited our needs. The best part of the hotel was the staff....they are incredible! There was never any hesitation about anything that we requested, the fellow at the front desk was wonderful and accommodating. We ate at the hotel, (Atrium), it was okay...we were just happy that we didn't have to get back in the car to search for food. This hotel is worth going 10 mi off the interstate just so you don't have to go to a third or fourth rate hotel for not much more money, and they take dogs which is a bonus! read more

Justin (bartender) was super knowledgeable and personable with cocktail choices. Ask for his signature cocktail, it's unmatched.

It's great they allow dogs, but they don't tell you that it's a $25 charge. they also don't tell you that they're going to hold $50 which isn't a hold it's taken out of your account along it's the $25 pet fee until it shows up on your account. It's not the unusual to have these charges but the website and check in doesn't inform you. And keep in mind this is not a kid friendly place... It's saturated by young couples that are drunk hanging out. As if it was a small LA... But you could tell most of these people have never been out of Ohio, by the way they act. read more
