We had a great experience staying at the Grayson B&B and would absolutely consider staying here again. We were vendors at the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire and needed somewhere to stay for about five weeks. Grayson B&B was by far the most affordable option we found compared with other nearby accommodations, so we decided to give it a try--and I'm really glad we did. One of the best parts of our stay was getting to know Miriam, the owner, and her family. Miriam is genuinely kind, very accommodating, and a great listener. I really enjoyed our conversations and getting to know her over the five weeks we were there. As a newer business owner, I especially appreciated the wisdom and advice she shared with me. I learned a lot just from talking with her about life and business. She was also genuinely happy for us whenever we had a successful weekend at the faire, which made our stay feel much more personal. It was nice coming back and having someone who actually cared about how things were going for us. We also really enjoyed meeting all of the animals on the property. Miriam raises chickens and has ducks, rabbits, cats, and dogs as well. She invited my daughter to come meet the chickens and ducks, and we also got to pet the rabbits, which my daughter really enjoyed. It was such a fun and charming part of the stay and made the property feel even more special. It's definitely not the kind of experience you would get at a typical hotel. Another thing I absolutely loved was Miriam's organic garden. She generously told us that we were welcome to pick anything we wanted from the garden at any time during our stay. We ended up picking some sugar snap peas, and they were so delicious! That was such a thoughtful and unique perk and another example of how welcoming she was with her home and property. The property itself is really special. The house is huge and has so much character, and the grounds, garden, and animals make it a fun place to spend time. You can tell Miriam has put a tremendous amount of care into the property. Because I booked our stay somewhat last minute, there wasn't one room available for our entire five-week stay, so we did have to switch rooms once based on the availability she had. Miriam was extremely accommodating and worked with us to make it possible for us to stay there for the full period. The move was easy, and we were comfortable in both rooms. The beds were very comfortable, and someone came in to clean our room every Wednesday. Each guest room also gets designated shelf space in the refrigerator, which was especially helpful for such a long stay. Saturday brunch was another really nice part of the experience. Miriam is a great cook and was accommodating of our dietary needs. Having brunch included every Saturday was something we really appreciated and looked forward to. The main thing to keep in mind is that this is a shared-space B&B, so the bathroom and common areas are shared with other guests. If you're comfortable with a shared living environment, I think Grayson B&B offers incredible value, particularly for an extended stay. Overall, our five weeks at Grayson B&B were a genuinely fun and memorable experience. It became our home base while we worked the Renaissance Faire, but it ended up being much more than simply a place to sleep. Getting to know Miriam and her family, talking with her and learning from her, meeting all of the animals, petting the rabbits, picking fresh vegetables from the garden, enjoying her Saturday brunches, and spending time on such a unique property made the experience special. Please do not go to this place! It is nothing like advertised. The hosts were the rudest I've ever encountered, and the sheets were absolutely filthy. We were so uncomfortable that we decided not to stay, even though it meant driving 2 hours back home, returning the next day for an event, and driving another 2 hours again. We arrived 30 minutes before check-in because it was our first time in town, and we wanted to ensure everything went smoothly. As soon as I walked in, I honestly thought I was at the wrong place. The owner greeted me with a curt "Can I help you?"--as if she wasn't expecting us. I had to ask if I was in the right place, and she just shrugged. She immediately complained that we were early, asking, "Who are you?" and "Have you paid for the pet fee?"--all in a passive-aggressive tone. She told my husband to park "over there, by the pool," but her directions were so unclear that after asking three times, he parked where he thought she meant--only for her to snap that it was her husband's spot. When we saw our room, we were shocked to learn we had to share a bathroom with another guest--something not mentioned in the listing. Our only private area was a tiny bedroom. On top of that, we were hit with endless rules: We could only let our dog outside when her dogs weren't there, using a confusing "light signal" system. Shoes had to be removed at all times. Our dog's food and water had to stay outside. We had to be mindful of her 2-year-old child. The woman we were sharing the bathroom with was apparently afraid of dogs--why stay in a so-called "pet-friendly" place then? To make matters worse, the property is right next to a busy road with no sidewalk--unsafe and stressful for walking a dog. Finally, the bed was disgusting: the sheets were covered in pet hair, and we even found an ear pain medicine packet under the covers--proof they hadn't been washed. That was the last straw. We packed up and left. When I told the owner we weren't staying, she coldly replied, "OK, cool!" When I mentioned the dirty sheets, she just repeated that it was "weird" because they pay someone to clean, without apologizing or offering to change them. I also told her she should disclose the shared bathroom, and she dismissed me with, "That's a B&B thing"--which is false. After reading reviews, I noticed she often claims not to "recognize" guests who leave bad reviews but has no trouble remembering all the 5-star reviewers. Honestly, I don't know how this place gets any good ratings. Believe me--do NOT stay here. read more

A True Oasis After Work! "Spent two weeks here for work and absolutely loved it. The host is lovely and makes you feel right at home. The grounds are incredibly pretty and peaceful--watching the hosts tend to the gardens and feed the chickens was the perfect way to unwind after a busy day. My room was a total restful oasis, and the sleep was amazing. Plus, the area feels incredibly safe and secure, so there was zero worry about my car. Nice place. Sincere host. It is quiet. HOWEVER, you SHARE bathrooms. This isn't a bed and breakfast. It's a bed, a shared bathroom with 6 other guest on our floor. See pictures. There are 3 dogs, at least two cats, one that came from under our bed when we arrived, a small child. It appears the family lives in the house and just rents out the extra rooms. Also the "breakfast" on Saturday is a brunch starting at 11. It looked nice but we choose to leave and eat breakfast elsewhere so we could start our day and not wait for "breakfast." It would have been nice if the host had offered to let us just eat in our room or on the "great" outdoor spaces. The food was already setting out at 7 am. We we arrived there were things set out, but all in saran wrap. We were not offered anything we didn't have to ask for. Very odd feeling about the place for sure. So if you want a place to stay that is basically a very nice hostel, go for it. If you want the privacy and conveniences that are normally present for a B&B, I recommend you skip this place and stay elsewhere. read more

We've stayed at the Greyson several times, & will stay again. The hostess, Mariam, is great! She is very accommodating, has gone out of her way for meals & other requests. Each room is cozy & comfortable. You may need to share a bathroom, but they are neat & clean. There are several cats & a dog in the large home, for those with allergies. read more

I noticed a few poor reviews recently for the Grayson and was just shocked. I think when there is a negative review you have to read between the lines as far as what is really going on. We have stayed at this B & B multiple times over the last four years. We frequent Bed and Breakfast's and this is one of our favorites. We just keep coming back! The grounds and the home are just beautiful! Well decorated and a strong sense of home and family. Every time we stay I love to look at how they set up their garden and how they decorated. Each room is unique with some more homey and others more formal in style. The family who owns the home, it's huge, has their own living quarters hidden where guests cannot see. There are a couple of teens who may walk through from time to time. They are very sweet. There is now a toddler running around and he can be noisy at times but I only heard him in the kitchen/family room. I never heard him when I was in the room. They are temporarily closed while they get through the noisy toddler stage. I absolutely LOVE staying here. We can find a place that is completely private any time we want but this is a unique and special place. I love being around people, and I love family, and I love sharing stories and getting to know others. Staying here is like staying with family. When you stay here take the time you get to know the hosts as they take an interest in getting to know you. That isn't something I've found in most other B and B's. Upstairs are a few bedrooms that share a large bathroom and a living area with seating, a TV, and a kitchette with refrigerator. When our son got marriage we stayed in one of these rooms along with another couple who are friends of ours from another state. It was so perfect! We could spend time together, make a cup of tea or nibble something we'd brought home from a restaurant and yet go off to our own bedrooms when we wanted. Even though we shared a living area it was always quiet and empty. Downstairs are separate rooms. You have to go out in the hallway to get to the restroom. I've almost never had to wait to go into a restroom and if one is busy I can also go to another. Bathrooms are shared. Many B and B's we've stayed in have shared bathrooms while many others have private ones. Some B and B's are single family homes that are used as a B and B, but this home was built to be a B and B. A shared bathroom doesn't bother me at all - it makes it more like a B and B and gives me the feeling of 'home'. Some of the rooms are occupied by long term residents who are on contract locally so in the bathrooms long term residents have assigned storage drawers and/or shelves for their belongings. In the shower there are some bottles of soap that belong to the long term residents but shampoo and body soap are not provided for guests by the B and B. Maybe once we've had a B and B provide these - it's not typical though because this is not a hotel. Downstairs is a large kitchen and eating area, as well as living area. In this area you are served breakfast in the morning. You can usually choose the time you'd like to eat. The food is home made, home grown. A lot of effort is put into the food and it's presentation. I believe long term residents, perhaps short term as well, can use the kitchen to prepare food. They have a gigantic wall length refrigeration system in another room in which long term residents each have a large section to refrigerate their own food. Cleanliness has never been an issue. You do need to be comfortable with dogs and cats as they roam the home. We love animals so we always get lots of love from the dogs and cats. This B and B isn't right for everyone depending on why you are staying and what you are looing for. It is unique but we really like it here because of those unique qualities. I love this place! The food was wonderful (Sunday brunch is excellent!). If you come on business, and need to work in private, peace and a quiet night's sleep await. The food is garden fresh (seasonal) and prepared to virtually ANY diet. If you are in the mood to be social, the house has friendly animals and people of all ages to socialize with . My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at The Grayson while we transitioned from selling our home to finding a new one. Mariam and her family are wonderful and the home is fantastic! We highly recommend staying there. The home is beautiful and full of amenities. Our commute to Boeing each day was 30 minutes and we really enjoyed coming home there to the relaxing setting in the foothills. It's not as far out of your way as you think it may be. Besides, Mariam goes out of her way to ensure that every detail is set up for your comfort and convenience and she was gracious and accommodating when working with our crazy schedule. I am a nurse. I stayed in this beautiful, quiet extended stay home while remodeling my own house (& while hobbling around on crutches.) Ramps & ADA accessibility in The Grayson = 5 stars. Mariam is the host with the most & she truly was my fairy Godmother during my stay. I will always be grateful to Mariam & her family for helping me (thanks "Lil" & "Ri"). House is massive & there are multiple wings, kitchens & comfy sitting areas if you like QUIET. If you yearn for socialization, go to the family room or outside patios where you can relax & chat with the sweet Grayson family or other extended stay residents, or you can interact with the polite & friendly dogs & cats. I did well here with my cat allergies. Cats stay out of the resident rooms, there are shiny hardwood floors, & Mariam maintains a sparkling clean environment. My room was full of light & fit for a princess. Mariam is good at recommending a room that will fit your need for "quiet vs socialization", your work schedule & lifestyle as there are many room options that will work for different needs. Crutches were my issue so I got a main floor room by a bathroom & the kitchen. Your room key will be in the lock when you arrive. Bathrooms are shared, but there are so many that I never had to compete & new towels are provided constantly. I received my own cupboard space and fridge space for my food & could cook my meals. I was given a laundry day where I could depend on the machines being available for me. Best TV channel access ever. I highly recommend The Grayson as an extended stay for travel RNs, IT contractors & other professionals or local people (like me) who are remodeling. I can say enough good things about my stay at the Grayson. I was in need of a place to stay and Mariam welcomed me with open arms. My room (which was upstairs) had everything I needed and just outside my bedroom was a small kitchen, a comfortable seating area with a computer if you needed to use one and a lovely big bathroom. If you want to have your privacy you can. If you want to be around other people you can do that to downstairs where there is a big beautiful living room, a BIG kitchen, home made meals and outside seating. If you want to watch t.v. they offer over 200 channels. One of the best things is they allow dogs which is hard to find these days. They welcome them and treat them like family. Speaking of family, Mariam's children were so sweet and polite. I think it was one of the parts I liked best about staying there. I loved talking with them and watching them swim in the pool and playing outside. One day I heard her daughter say to her brother, "You are my very best friend and you will alway be my best friend." How sweet is that?!! I also brought my business with me and I couldn't have picked a better place to keep up with the orders I had. They also have a cleaning lady on staff and she kept everything looking and feeling fresh and clean. If you needed anything and I mean anything Mariam had it. She even went to the post office for me one day. Also, downstairs is a big beautiful bright red washer and dryer. So, if you ever want or need a place to stay the Grayson is the place for you.
