    We escaped!

Successfully escaped The Infirmary last night! Another room at this location down. Erica was awesome and fun - the perfect person to be in the room with our group.

First escape room experience and I loved it! Thank you for a great time. It was just the three of us and one of the staff Angus joined in with us and I honestly don't think we could've done it without him!

Such a fun event tonight at The Great Escape Room! If you are looking for a fun way to spend an evening with friends, working together to solve clues to escape a locked room, this is the place to be. The team members are very energetic and fun. They do not tell you how to solve the puzzles but keep everyone engaged and all working together. I would highly recommend this from everything to date night to birthday parties to corporate team building. And it's fun for all ages. Get out there and challenge your mind!

We escaped! Prepped for our next one in a few weeks

5 stars for a really fun mystery-solving experience. I had always wanted to go to one of these Escape Room places, but the price and timing never seemed to work out. While up in Jacksonville this past weekend, my wife's friend wanted to go to this location, which is located near UNF in a somewhat "middle of nowhere" feeling area. After reading some reviews, we agreed that this was going to be a good place to go. Once we arrived, we went inside and saw the fun little waiting and check-in area. As you can see from the pictures, The Great Escape Room has some fun wall artwork and a cool little bar area (that doesn't serve alcohol, but allows you to BYOB). We each paid about $30 a person and waited in the lobby for a few minutes before starting our game. The room hostess had us sign waivers, went over the rules, and pointed us towards the "Smarties/Dum Dums" table (yum!). We then all used the restroom and proceeded into The Library. While I won't spoil the game for you, the way this works is you have several "puzzles" in the room you solve by getting clues. You have to solve all the puzzles to get codes to be able to escape the room (OR DIE!...jk). Some of them are harder than others, but the whole room requires teamwork to be successful. The room hostess, who couldn't provide us clues except for a few exceptions, gave our team little nudges here and there to make sure we didn't go too far off the path. The lady seemed rather excited and interested in the entire affair, and she was really excited once we figured out some of the final puzzles to escape the room with only 30 seconds remaining! After escaping the room, the hostess congratulated us, took some pictures of us with signs indicating we had escaped, and tried to give us a preview of the other escape room (unfortunately it was in use). Overall, Jacksonville's Great Escape Room is a fun venue that provides a cool environment, challenging and fun rooms, and an engaged staff. If you are looking to try out an Escape Room experience, this is a good place to try.

Four stars for an awesome concept with a friendly host. To start, $30 bucks per person for an hour of entertainment means that I have pretty high expectations. We had a great time, didn't have to share our room with rando's, and ESCAPED with 30 seconds to spare. So, we had a great time! However, if we'd had to share our room and wouldn't have figured out the puzzles, we might have been a bit less enthused. We were in The Library! It had a 36% escape rate and we made it out on our first try! It was surprisingly fun and I definitely see why companies use this as a team building activity. Our group felt much closer after ;-D The lady who assisted us in the room was funny and helpful and kept it challenging. She gave some opaque hints on occasion and kept us organized. She was engaged the whole time and seemed excited to be working. Overall, we can't wait to try another escape room and conquer them all!

This is a great team building experience. We all came intoxicated and became sober pretty quickly once that timer started clicking. I was a little skeptical at first because I thought this would be a lame activity for someone's birthday since it did not include alcohol :) Turned out good though. Make sure you come a little early to sign some paperwork and get your name tag. Also you get to take some pictures at the end and they do post it on their Facebook. Hopefully they get some new rooms up soon and we will be back for that! Also, the staff was awesome!

What a fun evening! Not at all what I was expecting! We escaped with 12 mins left on the clock! Our group of homeschool moms rocked it out! Our host was great! We laughed so much! Cannot wait to come back again & try different rooms! We will be bringing our husbands!

This was my first Escape room experience. I had heard about escape rooms and how they're the latest craze just a few weeks prior, but when it was described to me, I wasn't interested in the concept at all. Perhaps something was lost in translation and I thought fear was a factor, but it wasn't. We came here for a team building outing, there were 9 of us. Max per room is ten. We were arrived, we signed a waiver which basically states you won't do anything to hurt yourself or others. Come up with a nickname for yourself and write it on a name tag so you can refer to eachother by that name. Suppose to add to the fun but none of us really referred to eachother by those names. Then we followed the game room monitor into the escape room and they'll explain the directions, which were really clear and easy to follow. The room monitor was in there the entire time and is allowed to give hints for each magnifying glasses that was found. Our group had to work together to find clues to solve puzzles in order to escape from the room. We escaped in 55:40!! Apparently the success rate is only 35%. The room monitor was awesome. The concept is unique and challenging. If you're looking to think outside the box, then grab your coworkers or friends an get them locked in a room for 60 mins. Our entire team had a blast!

We had a great time at the Great Escape Room! The staff was very friendly and our guide Scooby went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed the experience. While we did not solve the puzzle and the world as we know it ended, overall it was a great evening. I would definitely do this again and recommend it to everyone

What a fun way to spend my Sunday afternoon! This was my first escape room and I absolutely loved it! I had no idea what I was getting into when I signed up. When you first arrive you sign in and pick out a name, not your name, but a fun one for your mates to call you. I chose Bob Ross. Who doesn't love Bob Ross and his happy trees? Then you're escorted to the room and given some instructions then game on. Our escort was Craig and he was awesome. I hope he's around for our next visit. My friends and I had a group of seven and we were lucky enough that three strangers booked the remaining three spots. The Library Room holds up to ten peeps. I'm not sure we would've solved it if it wasn't for them, so I thank you smarty pants strangers. I was on the fence when I saw our room got booked up with some unknown, but we needed every bit of their help and vice versa. I see now how great it can be for team building exercises. We had a great sense of camaraderie. Good luck! Try it out and don't be afraid to book with other people because you need every bit of the ten people to ESCAPE! We made it out with 6:42 to spare! It's $28 Friday-Sunday and $23 on Thursdays per person.

We made it out the library!!!!!!

I've seen this on TV and when a group from work said they wanted to try it, I thought this might be fun. The price for the 2 of us was pretty reasonable. We did the Library. I'm not going to give out specific clues about the room because that would be cheating for anyone that reads this. But..... look everywhere, I mean EVERYWHERE. Clues will turn up in the in the smallest of places. if it isn't nailed down, turn it over, etc. The group consisted of a great bunch of analytical thinking people. Everyone contributed to the search. WE GOT OUT IN 56 MINUTES. That's not bad when they say that only 35% of the groups can escape the rooms. it's a good way to work together and see how the group can overcome to get the final goal. That's to escape.... I suggest going with a group of people you are friends with, work with (they do corporate outings). You'll have a ball.

The Winners!! Time: 43:34 with 5 total puzzles!

If you're looking for a fun, yet challenging, date night or get together, this is the place! They currently have 2 room styles to choose from, but are adding a third later this year. Our group loved the experience and started making plans to take on the second room challenge before we even left the parking lot. Took our group of 14, 43:34 with 5 puzzles instead of the customary 4 nonetheless! Shout out to our host Craig, who was awesome dealing with our rowdy group of 14 :-) We'll be back!

    Damon F.

I went with a work group and we all had a blast! It was so challenging and each puzzle we solved felt like a huge victory! I'm telling every group I can think of to go do it. I think at least 8-10 people is a minimum because there are so many components to work out in an hour that you'll want as much help as you can get. It's not easy but that's why it's worth doing.

We completed all three rooms back to back. The creativity behind each room was just unreal! They made sure to go beyond the standard lock and key concept and successfully managed to make their rooms both challenging and fun (and in a few instances very funny). The staff helped us a couple of times when we got stuck and we escaped in time. It was a lot of fun. Today, we went back with my husband and 13 year old to do the Batman room. Everyone put different pieces of the puzzles together and we did fairly well until the last room where we got stumped. Despite asking the guide to help us when we got behind, we continually got the same "hint" at the end that wasn't helpful. After we failed to escape, she came in and explained what we were supposed to do, which I think is exactly what we were doing, so either I misunderstood or the game wasn't working properly. It was a bit of a bummer for what was intended for a fun family outing. So, we built character instead, and focused on the first 50-55 minutes which were pretty fun. I came across Prototype Escape rooms "Canibals in the Catacombs" room. The story was intriguing and the list of disclaimers, which might dissuade some, made me more interested. When we arrived we all had to sign our waivers and were introduced to our game master Emma. She was extremely personable and walked us through what to expect before we were escorted into the catacombs. The set work was very well done and unlike some escape rooms I've done, everything was in excellent condition and working order. The puzzles were well thought out and required a mixture of puzzle solving and attention to detail. I won't spoil anything about the room, but I will say that everyone in my group was jumpy and looking over their shoulder for the majority of the game (and one of my group, a 6'2" ex-military man, screamed like a little girl). For horror fans or escape room fans, I cant recommend this enough. This was easily one of the top escape rooms I've ever done.

I am definitely not the witty type for these scenarios but I do LOVE haunted houses and immersive experiences such as this. Our birthday boy is extremely witty and is very good at puzzles and games. He picked the Cannibals in the Catacombs room for all 6 of us to experience with him which is Expert level. And it really was expert level! (Which is great!) We were stumped a few times and were given an option before going in to signal for extra clues if need be. We did. The clues were helpful , but not overly helpful where the game/host is giving you the answer when asked - I liked that. We were told there was only a 22% escape rate for this expert level room so the clues were extremely helpful. I only have one other experience to compare this to from a nearby neighboring escape room company. If I had to choose between this escape room business and the nearby escape room 5 miles or less down the road, I would hands down pick Prototype. The prep before going in the room was way more detailed, the props in the room more realistic and movie quality, and the details/clues were very well thought out. I kept saying while in the room how pretty & realistic all of the props are. Nothing is damaged or worn in any way, and if at any point you need to leave or "escape" , it's easy to do so. I'm sold on prototype. I'm not even an escape room goer per se and I'd hands down happily try it again. If you are on the fence about trying, this is your sign to throw the doubt out the window and just give prototype a try. Any Halloween/Spooky lovers out there like myself - pick Cannibals in the Catacombs! There are some extra surprises in store for those who enjoy a good thrill.
