Oh my goodness, I am shaking in my boots. This is my second time at Prototype, but probably a lifetime customer. Joe is an absolute master class of a person and architect. I can tell this is his baby and he definitely treasured it with all the care and attention that goes into it. I absolutely recommend this escape game over every single escape game in existence. Joe and his staff are friendly, directions are precise and fun, almost peed my pants in one of his rooms due to the authentic commitment to terror. Like most things in life, you will need a bit of help along the way, they do not let you dwell in your own sadness and failures but will give you adequate clues in order to advance in the game. The rooms are clean and well maintained, the only thing you can smell here are your fears and self-doubt. The games are so authentic you might ask yourself if you were ever good enough for your father and if he's proud of you. Tough questions.

We visited Prototype last Friday for a date night! We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation time. We were greeted promptly after walking in and an associate let us know our game master will be with us shortly. Grace - our gamemaster greeted us shortly after and gave us clear instructions. We did the "Blackout" game room and loved it. We asked for many clues and she helped us solve our game in time. Game was well thought of and clever. Facilities were also very clean. We will definitely consider coming back for another date night or with friends!

In a short period of time, there has been a rise of many different escape rooms in the area. Some have been amazing, and some have just been "meh". Regarding Prototype Escape Games, let me just say... DO NOT sleep on this escape room! Nestled in a small business park off St. John's Bluff Road (in between Five Star Pizza and Johnny Angel's Diner), Prototype promises to be one of the better experiences you will have. I have "escaped" two of the three escape rooms they currently have - a 4th room is currently in development - and both of the rooms that my group and I finished have been very fun, albeit somewhat challenging. Joe (the owner) and our game master Morgan are both escape room enthusiasts themselves, and have taken great care in providing an excellent experience, with teamwork being absolutely necessary for us to complete the room successfully. They're also some of the most personable folks, and I enjoyed sharing escape room experience stories with them as well. As I continue to do more escape rooms, I find that I am becoming more particular when it comes to what I want and expect, so it's great to know that there's a spot like Prototype Escape Games to satiate that need. Will definitely be back for the other two rooms!

It looked like you'd be walking with 3D glasses thru a forest with all these animals so large and real.....like the elephant. In reality your only images were right in front of your face, the glasses stopped working for both of us half way thru and had to be replaced. To read about this experience on Facebook it should have been fantastic-technology,science, nature, etc but it wasn't. The girls running the event were nice but hardly knew what to do. I suggested they needed to give some directions as to what we were suppose to do while in the program, with the glasses in the room. Like how were we to use our hands and our voice to activate things (I guess) but they didn't have the training to know to do that . My credit card charge was with a company out of Germany bec that was what was on the bill so I suspect the experience could have been there but it wasn't.

After lunch in…read morethe Town Center we agreed to do an escape room since she was not able to attend a Yelp event at one. This one was well off the beaten path and well hidden if you weren't looking for it. The place was dead as it was a Sunday so we figured we'd liven it up, as Susan would say, "Life is for shenanigans." The staff were entertained by us bantering and dressing up in the different detective clothing while we waited for our scheduled time to escape from The Library. What was a little different from my past experience, a staff member is in the room with you monitoring since there are no cameras around. Also, there's creepy/suspenseful music playing with a dayglow timer going to keep you focused and panicked at the same time while you're looking around for clues. And while we didn't finish in the hour that we were supposed to, we thought that we did pretty good and got out maybe 5 minutes later. I really enjoyed this escape room and I think now I might be addicted :p

This time, we set out to conquer the game room. Each time, staff oriented us, walked us through the rules of the game, and offered to give us a set number of clues as we tried to escape. Unlike some other escape games, the staff member here stays in the room with you the entire time. My group has escaped both times and I actually like the way that they run the this escape room. My only issue is that in order to solve many of these puzzles, you need prior information and knowledge in order to be successful. Other game rooms that I've done provide all of the clues you need in the actual room. But here, if you do not have a lot of common knowledge, knowledge about games, basic science, cars, etc, you may find it difficult to escape.

Both are labeled as hard and very hard. The pricing was per person and they were great on respecting our time window. Batman was a little higher due to licensing but definitely worth the money. The staff helped us a couple of times when we got stuck and we escaped in time. It was a lot of fun. Today, we went back with my husband and 13 year old to do the Batman room. Everyone put different pieces of the puzzles together and we did fairly well until the last room where we got stumped. Despite asking the guide to help us when we got behind, we continually got the same "hint" at the end that wasn't helpful. After we failed to escape, she came in and explained what we were supposed to do, which I think is exactly what we were doing, so either I misunderstood or the game wasn't working properly. It was a bit of a bummer for what was intended for a fun family outing. So, we built character instead, and focused on the first 50-55 minutes which were pretty fun. I share this only to educate that even if you ask for help, you should be aware you might still not escape. I still want to try the Scooby Doo room, but might try the other easier room (or maybe just a different company) first.

We did the St Augustine lighthouse and it was so much more then we had planed. Our guide was Hale who was amazing and patient with us. To make matters worse, I'm not from town, and even though the room is booked by another group, they refuse to issue a refund. Very disappointing overall.
