Verdict: The nice green man at the bar gets along with everyone, except their POS system. Maybe the point of sale (POS) system was new or maybe the man was. Maybe he and technology just don't get along. He won the battle and for our order in. The struggle made him forget to pour one of our beers but at least he kept his cool. I'll take partial blame for the challenging order. I got the chicken burger and they had the option on the menu to add toppings. One of those options was to add pulled pork so, yes please. Easier said than entered apparently. Plenty of food for your Pound here. Not a huge beer selection but not overly small either. Just an interesting and random find when wandering the streets and alleys of London. read more

Used to love coming here m, there used to be a pool table and a DJ on a Friday night. Now it's just a standard pub with nothing special about it except maybe the drinks are a reasonable price for the area. read more

I judge places mostly by the service but I'll list down some of my observations. Pros: -A great place for very cheap drinks. Which other bar can beat 4 shots for £5.50? -nice environment and good place to start off the night if it is going to be a messy one. -did I mention cheap? -it is close to both TCR station and Oxford Street station. -I had their spicy chicken wings and it was quite nice. Cons: -I've never seen staff so unhappy with their job before. -service is very slow and you are likely to get into an argument with some drunk person who thinks they were at the front of the line before you. -did I mention the service? Oh boy oh boy. So bad! -the toilets are nasty and need a lot of improvement There are lots of other "standard pubs" in London which maintain their business and service a lot better. If you are going to serve a huge piece of fish, you need to provide enough tarter sauce to accommodate that fish. And if you don't, and someone asks you for a little extra sauce, don't tell them that they will have to pay for that extra sauce. It's no wonder why you have such low reviews on Yelp. Well it so happened that one cold, brisk night I found myself in Oxford Street at the same time as The Sugarbabes.. a coincidence I assured my girlfriend! I didn't know anything about three vixens on a stage in front of thousands people, free of charge... ahem. No, me and my friends were there to see the christmas lights turned on (London starts Christmas as early as possible because it maximises profit) and after standing around, I wanted a stiff pint and maybe even some JD. So we retired to the Green Man! The Green Man has a good atmosphere. Especially on nights this brisk, when eveyone wants to cram in close together to maximise the warming effect.. like penguins. There are also multiple screens showing sort all around the place, which definitely raises it up in my estimations. The menu, I feel, is pretty freakin' awesome. The prices are amazing for pub food and there is alot of choice available for the money (eg, a Roast dinner for £4.95). The music is loud and upbeat (though this might have just been during the one hour stretch I was present) and with the press of bodies and sounds of chitter chatter, an excellent atmosphere. We wanted the typical Brit breakfast so we came here around 11ish. Price wise, it was decent for a lot of food, we also got a couple of pints while waiting for food. However, it took over an hour for food to come and the bartender was nice enough to get us another drink on the house, but doesn't help that we waited an hour!!! Anyhow, food was actually good (well, egg, sausage, bacon etc....) but yes, I enjoyed it despite waiting for an hour!!! read more

A bit shabby inside, but always rather full on the weekends due to its excellent location just off Oxford Street. Its just your average pub and really not worth going to as there are so many better pubs around the area, EXCEPT if you want to watch live sports. This is one of the only pubs in the Oxford Street area that shows live sports, so its a perfect place to retreat to if the missus is out maxing your credit cards while that all-important Man Utd vs Liverpool game is going on! read more

Now i'm as much of a fan of football as the next man or woman, so i was in central London on a Saturday tea time, and my West Ham supporting brother wanted to watch his team on the tele, really wished i hadn't and it was a great game too which says a lot about the pub. My brother and I ordered two Ales, our two friends ordered beers. The Ales were possible the worse Ales i have ever tasted, so much so that i only drunk a third of it, fearing i would be stuck on the can for the rest of the night . After that experience i thought i would play it safe and have a rum and coke, oh if only i could taste the rum, or even the coke for that matter. Think of the flattest tasting coke left over from an 80s soda stream and you still wouldn't be close to what i was drinking. Being in central London god knows how they get away with it, the tourists must think as a nation of drinkers are taste buds are shot to bits, mine were after drinking in here. read more

I like being able to relax in a pub. After all, that's the whole point of going, isn't it? In this case it was to watch the Arsenal / Wigan match on a Sunday afternoon. The pub house about 8 different tvs in it. Some of them showing the rugby (and later Crufts!), and some of them showing what was actually a pretty dull game. So what on earth was wrong with the pub? Well, we felt like we were being watched by the beer police. We weren't allowed to sit at the bar. So we moved. Then we weren't allowed to stand at one end of the bar. Then we moved back to the bar and were asked to move again. The bar wasn't even that busy. When we finally did get settled, I gave my friend his birthday present. Part of which was chocolate brownie and a some Haribo. We were asked not to open our sweets in the bar. They're sweets for goodness sake. We'd have ordered food, but we weren't allowed to eat at the bar. After all this, how were we meant to relax? It's not the worst pub in the world, but it's not special and we don't like the service. Even the friendly flirty barman didn't make up for it. We're not going back. read more

A loud place, this bar is popular as it has the cheapest beer and wine of anywhere in Soho. If you don't mind loud, boystrous people, jostling for places with no seats left if you arrive after 6pm, this is the place. The food is decent, well cooked and cheap so for anyone on a budget, this is the place to go. read more

It's a solid 3 for the Green Man, which is a handy pub just off the Oxford Street 'drag' (and isn't it a drag at times?). It's a decent sized boozer, which sells a decent range of drinks at reasonable prices. It's open late, it shows sport on big screens & it has a pool table. It does pub fare. Stylish it is not, and nor will it ever be. However, it's a good place to go for a bit of respite from the madness of shopping on a Saturday and to catch the footy results. Not somewhere I'd head as a destination pub to watch a match - but handy to know about if you are meeting people in town. read more

Yes it does have really cheap drinks and is one of only a handful of places that have sky sports and show the football in the west end, but it does smell, it is dirty and some of the people you find in there look like there one step away from a park bench. tightly related to football, the green man is the ideal place to go with a large group to cheer your team up. it is quite resorted, since food and drinks are so cheap that it attracts loads of young and working class people. How great are these no-frill places? I love them. pints float around the two pints, wine is cheap as well. There is even music in given days from 10pm on. Yes it's grotty, yes you have to queue a bit on a Friday night for a drink, yes it's got steep stairs leading down to the toilets. But this place sits between Oxford Street and Soho with the cheapest selection of drinks and food in the area. For those facts alone makes this pub a winner! The atmosphere is great in the evening with a mixture of tourists and office workers all looking to have a laugh and a drink. If you're a smoker be prepared to stand together outside like you're all on the tube during rush hour, there's not much space on the pavement. read more

A pub that's grotty in the wrong way. It looks like it was refurbished in the 80s but hasn't been maintained since. The toilets, in particular, were in a poor state of repair as tiles were falling off the walls and some of the loos themselves were even falling apart. Service is nothing special either. I was served by a surly french barmaid last night who barely made the effort to make eye contact with her customers and went about her duties as if she was doing them under duress. Purely for those who don't care where they have their drinks as long as those drinks contain alcohol. read more

There are TVs everywhere you look; last night they were showing NFL from Fox, much to the whooping delight of the gang at the table in the middle of the pub. They'd forgotten to re-stock the bar with the by-the-glass red wine I wanted, and although they went to the cellar for more it was freezing cold. Give it a miss unless you're a group of men, already three sheets to the wind and jabbering nonsense, and looking to watch the footie. They seem to be the main clientele. read more

The Green Man is one of the cheapest pubs in London. Located on Berwick Street, Soho, it is in an ideal central Location. The best points are the prices. Bottles of Blossom Hill wine (red, white and rose) with change from £5. Pints for just over £2. Spectacular deals on spirits. This is bargain central. Of course the prices attract a mixed clientele - local office workers, students, tourists and those who just need a drink or two. Food is standard chain pub grub, but very reasonably priced. A 'chips and sausage platter' for £4.99 consisted of 8, fat and meaty sausages and a humongous amount of wedges, baguette and butter - more than a small evening meal for 3! One word of warning though, the pub is a pick-pockting hotspot, so make use of handbag clips on tables and keep an eye on all belongings. An ideal pub for meeting friends in when money is tight. Just off Oxford Street, sitting in trendy Soho is a dreadful bar that harks back to the small town feel and attitude of the horrendous and souless holes littering town centres across the country. It's cheap in here, very cheap. Accordingly it's full of groups of men getting drunk. In darker days one has been known to consume the remarkably cheap wine in here by the bottle. The wine itself is perfectly pleasent, as is the beer and the typical deep fried microwaved pub grub. It's the atmosphere in here that so dominates. Big screens, flags, adverts, posters, standing tables and increasingly rude staff make the Green Man a place to avoid. Only large groups of lager swilling men and unfortunate tourists will stumble into here. read more

The Green Man is in a prime central location and sells some of the cheapest drinks for a central London night. The food is also very reasonably priced for the amount you get and is actually quite nice considering its probably from frozen. Good little place for some pres. However, it is very shabby and it's obvious why it's so cheap. This is not anywhere I'd recommend to people other than for the drinks prices, or would really go out of choice actually. I wouldn't recommend sticking around for long as although a vibrant atmosphere, it's not somewhere I'd enjoy spending much time in and can have some questionable characters. Don't ever stop in this pub/restaurant in London. My fiancée and I stopped in for a couple of drinks and a meal after walking around and seeing the sites in London in March 2018. I ordered a burger and I knew it didn't taste right. I thought maybe I was sick, so we took the leftovers back to our AirBnb room and my fiancée tasted it and he knew something was wrong with it as well. He had a steak and it was just average. Maybe overcooked a little. Again, mine didn't even taste like a proper burger. When we are in London again, they will never get our business again. read more

The Green Man is a slighty grotty pub on Berwick Street (just off Oxford Street) but it's saving grace is cheap booze - just over a fiver for 2 pints of lager! It's a great pub for watching sport as there's several tv screens dotted around the place. Stopped in one cold windy and rainy day just to duck out of the messy weather. We were warmly greeted instantly and seated by the window to watch the world trudge on by while deciding what to eat. I elected the soup and a pot of tea. Both were delicious, warming and restorative. By the time we finished out meal, we had solid directions to where we were headed (the other way, she said!) and we had full bellies all for reasonable prices. I had my bag and passport stolen at this bar, and even though I thought the atmosphere seemed ok, obviously it was not. Perhaps locals might like it, but as one who just popped in for a pint and a pie, the ramifications of having your bag stolen is not good. My review is based on visiting Saturday afternoons. When in town with the girlfriend and you've had enough of carry bags and giving the wrong opinion on every garment in Oxford Street, this place serves you beer and shows you football scores. The Green Man served just for a quick one on the way to another pub. I found it terrible! Yes, its quite big and the interior is OK. It was noisy and dirty. I got Pedigree from one of the two working handpumps and it was very cloudy. The barman only changed it with a hostile look - no word. My question, whether the second beer (as it was weaker) had the same price, only send me the same look, just a little more intensive. It was hard to find a place that was not wet and dirty - same with the toilets. Disgusting place! read more

It's a nice pub and perfect for watching sport events. At such days the atmosphere is great. Otherwise it is OK, but the drinks are cheap.
