I never leave reviews but I had to leave one for the great service that I received from Elizabeth at SOL and Burt at Board Stiff. I had a old gift card that I had received from the North End Boston SOL Optics store which has since closed. I emailed SOL and Elizabeth responded. The GC could not be used on line, however once I found the glasses I wanted Elizabeth tracked them down to Board Stiff (affiliated with SOL). She called the manager of Board Stiff, Burt (who was also great!) and explained the situation. I called Burt, purchased my sunglasses over the phone and they shipped them to me. I am so appreciative of the help and support I received from both Elizabeth and Burt, I had to leave a comment. I 100% recommend both SOL Optics and Board Stiff. I just bought some nice clothing this week. yes, it was expensive but I chose to buy them. The big shock to me was at the payment tablet....showing me 6 different tip suggestions. The tipping thing is out of control. This was my first apparel store that had suggested tips! Luckily they also had an easy skip button which I used. I would have given 5 stars but dropped it down for tip suggestion. Not wonder everyone wanted to "help" me find a changing room! Come on owner ! Had I known ahead of time, I would have avoided the store! And for good measure these suggestions were as high and higher than restaurants and I spend maybe 15 min trying on clothes. When you think of "Surf City USA" you don't think of Nantucket, Eastham and Barnstable. The Beach Boys hit the waves of the Pacific, not the smaller, choppier Atlantic. Board Stiff has a fun name, along with just as fun merchandise. The service is attentive and friendly. It is a relaxed shop. They have tons of sports supplies and casual clothing. They have a sizable variety of sunglasses. It's a great place for looking for that replacement pair of sandals, and a new pair of shorts. It's groovy. read more

Have always had a great experience in this store, but today was disappointed by the aggression of supervisor Joe, especially with the younger staff members. Had an uncomfortable encounter with him as he yelled inappropriately at his staff and fought with customers. Let's fix this staff issue. read more

Love the store and the music and the products aren't terribly overpriced which is surprising as products like that usually are. But I don't know if I will ever go there again. A staff member followed us around which I didn't even notice till my friend pointed it out to me, then one of the workers who had already done the typical, "can I help you" just came up and leaned up into our faces and very loud and rudely said if you want to try anything on let us know. At that point we just walked out. We are young but we don't look at all sketchy or like we are bad people. read more

We rented from the owner Labor Day weekend. Have one SUP, needed a second. Unique skate bike boards of many types and clothing shop. They have a great selection and are laid-back, friendly with TONS of knowledge. We were looking to buy a second board. The owner told us about his end of season sale and a great deal. We returned the board that evening to discuss looking at their new boards and make a deal. Bummer, he was gone for the day not returning Sunday. That was the only bummer as the employee was not offering the same deal. Maybe we'll catch up and do some business with him. Standup paddleboard is where it's at & this business definitely has a lot to offer. Many boaters stopped us on the Falmouth Bay to ask us about stand up paddle boarding and if we owned or rented. Great experience. My son wanted his first skateboard. At first it started a little rocky. We went at the end of business after Christmas. The staff was a bit shorthanded and stock was lean. Upon seeing this, I hate to admit, our next stop was at a large blue and yellow box store known for low prices. We ended up going back the following morning and met Bret. He built a board up for my son and stayed within his budget. After looking at a few suggested options for decks Bret put together a great package. He could have easily pointed to a pre-packaged board and left it at that. Instead he took the time to build it there. Even replacing a set of bearings he had already seated, because he did like the way they sounded. This is the kind of experience we want from our local retailers. The quality of product and staff at this store is amazing. We live in town and walk our dogs by this store almost daily. They insist on having us come in with the dogs and they give them quality attention. We have bought many things from the store and have never been disappointed. The staff are very courteous and attentive. They have great deals in the winter and always take care of me when I have the time to stop in. They will work with you one on one to help you find what you need even if it doesn't result in a sale. They also work on my sons skateboard free of charge. not because they don't have a wide variety & assortment. they do. however, the mrs., purchased what she thought based on the packaging was a cell phone dry-case. The packaging was completely misleading as the only item that was in the package was a sports belt by dry case. Even though she spoke of the need for a dry pack for her cell phone while chatting with associates. Since the package was sealed sometimes one doesn't think that packaging showing a belt and dry case for a cell on front and back that It was only the belt. When contacted, the store indicated that she could return it or they have one cell phone dry pack left at $35.00. All of which is nice except when you are visiting and it would rquire a 200 mile rt to get back there probably not an optimal solution. Thus, make sure you either open the package or ensure it's clear what is contained in the waterproof sports belt by dry case. Even though it clearly depicts a cell phone holder. The sales people would be advised as well. Drive 200 miles, I think not read more
