We were overcharged regularly and getting the statements corrected was like pulling teeth. Also, we had one dinner there and it was among the worst restaurant meals we have had, anywhere. I wrote the chef an email about our experience, and never received a response. We never ate dinner there again, nor would I in the future. Always had a good experience with the lunch menu items, but the service was fair at best. Better management is needed.

When I asked how that's possible without viewing the venue, she stated that you can pay by PayPal, checks, over the phone, etc. when I asked why I wasn't given these options to secure my date, I was told my fiancé didn't want to book and pay for anything until we saw the venue, which was the complete opposite of the emails my fiancé sent her. In hindsight, We went by the venue and it didn't look like the photos on the website did. It looked a lot smaller, and everything is set up in a little portion of the front yard. The decorations looked run down due to weather. I would NOT RECOMMEND booking here. Edit: Since posting this review, I've received about 10 emails and 17 missed calls from the owner. The latest email stated that if I do not take this negative review down, they'll have no choice to sue both myself and my fiancé. Again, please do yourself a favor and keep looking for a different venue. Orange is beautiful, and there are a lot more venues there that are beautiful.

Wow, we were glad we did!! From the time we booked, the owner, Chanel, texted us to ask when we would arrive, and offered restaurant recommendations. When we arrived, she made us feel special and welcome with a "special parking spot"- which was under a covered area and great because it provided us cover from the rain while unpacking our car. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and were pleasantly surprised that the room and gorgeous bathroom looked even better in person than the pics online. Chanel was the right mix of attentive while still giving us lots of privacy. We really enjoyed this lovely manor, and you can tell a lot of love has gone into making it. Highly recommended for a cozy romantic getaway!

The grounds have ample space for all of these activities, including bathrooms that are handy to the event. I personally love all of the stunning gardens and landscaping on the property, not to mention the back drop of mountains and orchards. Working with Foxie was a breeze and so was coordinating all of the necessary rentals etc. Foxie has a helpful list of vendors who know the venue and that she has worked with before. We chose pretty much all of our vendors from her list and they were all wonderful! My friends and I also bought bulk flowers from Foxie and we assembled our own bouquets in her flower shed the day before my wedding which was super fun! (I only recommend making your own if you or your friends have flower experience--and one of my friends did!) Overall, Pharsalia was a dream venue and I highly recommend it!!!

While we knew the place had some old-time feel to it, there were some things that were a bit unexpected such as the bathroom door not closing and the TV being broken. The thing is that we weren't there to watch TV so that was minor (and clearly can be easily replaced). We found out quickly that when something goes wrong, the team in the Mark Addy will go far out of their way to try to accommodate you to the best of their ability. Without losing a step we were given access to an additional room in the event that we were too warm in the Kensington. We took advantage of that one night, it was not even necessary the second night so it was hardly an issue. In the evenings there was sangria provided, which was not only delicious but a really nice touch. By the second night we were already looking forward to it! What can't be overstated is how delicious the included breakfast is. I honestly was expecting the typical continental type breakfast. I was very mistaken. Their menu is creative, fresh, and absolutely delicious. It was more of a treat than it was just a meal. Overall, the place is an old-ish inn with some character. You're not going to find some modernized place and, yeah there are some quirky things that could be fixed. However, it's a whole FEEL that you get from this place and the view from the front is gorgeous. Add that to the quality of the treatment and food and I think you have a solid winner. I'm grateful for our great experience and that the Mark Addy went out of their way to make sure were were comfortable and happy!

Bottle of wine and candy left on the dresser. This B&B is privately owned for 13 years as of this writing. All the staff were very nice and accommodating. Ok, Baby, the parrot(?) wasn't always friendly until you give it a pet on the back of the neck :-) This was my first experience staying at a B&B so be aware some of my comments may not apply to you the reader. My first feeling was a little discomfort about staying in someone's house but the staff make you feel pretty welcomed. Breakfast is served at 9am and is a set menu which is understandable considering there's only 1 or 2 working the kitchen and dining area. Just to give you an idea of the servings, the common theme was a good healthy and hearty breakfast starting with either a fruit bowl or yogurt then a dish with eggs, meat and a carb. The meal always held until around 2pm or so. And in the evening there was always a plate of chocolate chip and white chocolate chip cookies along with a pitcher of some good sangria in the fridge in the common area kitchen. The room was very comfortable with a small flat screen TV and a couple of chairs in addition to the comfortable bed. The bathroom in the room was on the small side but very usable. Although the place is just off the main highway leading into Nellysford, it was over 30 mins from the big city in Charlottesville, so your choices for lunch and dinner were limited unless you went to the big city. If winery/meadery/distillery/brewery/cidery tours is your thing, they have plenty close by. I would recommend a stop at Hill Top winery/meadery just up the road. Overall, I would definitely recommend it. And if you decide to stay, give Baby a pet on the back of the neck and say "hey!" Just don't stick your finger in too quick or it may not come back to you! :-)

The house has been redone and the decor inside is new and contemporary but still fits with the period of the older home. Rooms are beautiful, clean and well-kept and there was a Roku on the tv with wifi. The back door has a keypad lock so you can come and go as you please with ease and there was a welcome package with snacks, jam, and a handwritten welcome note. Location is great because, with ample parking in the back of the home, you can walk around the town to antique, explore and eat at one of a dozen or more restaurants. They don't do the traditional breakfast but had a small bar well-stocked with coffee, tea, bananas, fresh pastries, and juice and water. Enough for me! Usually I kind'a wanna go out and explore on my own anyway and the town has several nice places for brunch (Spoon and Spindle was my fav). Pat was great and communicative through email/text but wasn't hovering in the way some B&B owners are. There to greet me but then left me alone to enjoy the stay but was available for questions if I had any.... perfect! Would absolutely come back any time.

Pat and Monica were excellent hosts. Every room was well decorated, well maintained, and clean. The common areas are beautiful and, once again, well maintained. Every morning the Keurig coffee maker was filled with water and ready, with cups, along with bottled water. Pat or Monica would check in periodically and were very responsive the few times we needed them. Finally, the Holladay House is located in downtown Orange. There are excellent restaurants and bars within walking distance. If you are staying in Orange, or close by, we highly recommend staying at the Holladay House.

I had an incident with Kathy Ballard this evening while dining at the Tavern ( restaurant on site). My niece was playing on the putting green which is located adjacent to the outdoor dining area. Several children frequently play in this area while their parents dine. Tonight Kathy came down from the pro shop to tell my niece's mother that her child could not play in the area because " the Fluvanna HS Homecoming kids being on site and ruining the area with their high heels" WTF does this have do do with a 4 year old playing? Kathy made no sense and she clearly took her anger out on an innocent 4 year old black kid. Yesterday I was at the same location and a white family had 3 children playing on the same putting green, doing cartwheels on greens. No one came to say anything to these children. I sat there for over 2 hours and watched these kids do whatever they wanted. Spring Creek Golf Club has NO diversity and they make it known that they so not welcome minorities.

The whole course was pristine and so beautifully maintained. I loved the secluded feel on many of the holes, where you're just focused on the golf and there's not much else around to distract you from playing golf. I loved the tall pines on the course as it gave the feel of playing golf in the North Carolina pines, except you're one state further north in Virginia. I had this course on my state-by-state golf bucket list for a long time and I'm so glad to have finally played it. I'd most definitely go back here to play again!

We stayed two nights and found it quite relaxing and fun. It's a great jumping off place for exploring wineries, local dining, and historical sites, but equally good as a retreat location. We did a lot of reading on the grounds...hammocks, chairs, and benches abound. Details like coffee and tea anytime, filling and fancy breakfasts with choice ingredients, all homemade, and an abundance of flora and fauna to enjoy made it a bespoke, boutique experience. As we sat listening to the early morning birds from our balcony, identifying all the trees we could spot, my husband said, "Worth every penny!" Agreed.
