Charlottesville's only full-sized bowling alley! I loved their annual KidFests (where I didn't have to feel badly that my 4 year old never finished his game). They do a great job hosting parties (whether for children's birthdays or company parties). Their recent renovations look great, and I love the new bowling shoes (velcro for everyone for the win!) They've got average food, at slightly above average pricing. The arcade is pricey, as is the bowling. But it's a fun, family-friendly, temperature-controlled spot that is open year-round- and I'm glad they're here in C'ville! read more

I would've expected a much better experience for the steep price of a 2-hour lane reservation for 3 people. We were immediately told at check-in that we couldn't bring in our own water bottles, but that shouldn't be a problem because a server would come to our lane very shortly after arrival to take drink orders. No server ever showed for the entirety of our time there. There were a number of mechanical issues with our lane (ball return sticking, sweep malfunction, etc.) that staff were quite slow to respond to, which delayed our ability to play continuously and wasted the set time on our prepaid reservation. 1 of the 2 hand dryers in the women's bathroom did not work, one of the toilet stall doors could not shut or lock, and 2/4 of the above-sink lights were out. This location would greatly benefit from more attentive and responsive staff and a thorough update of basic features and necessities. read more

This is my second time coming here. I had an amazing time the first time when I came with a big group of friends and my husband, we had reserved lanes ahead of time. This time my husband, step daughter, and 6 other friends and I decided to go on a Saturday night. We had gotten our tickets from Groupon which I'd highly recommend! For 4 people it was $61 for 2 hours of bowling plus shoe rental. They placed us in 2 lanes next to one another, which was perfect. But the lane we were given kept malfunctioning. It was busy, so there weren't a lot of options to start. But once the group beside us left, our server offered for us to take their lane. But their lane malfunctioned just as often as ours, so we declined, opting to not use even more time out of our allotted time by setting up a new game. The person that checked us in along with our server did a great job and was both friendly and helpful. But unfortunately, the way other staff spoke to us was just poor, especially in the presence of children. read more

We had a really fun time at Bowlero with a group of friends. There's definitely a meme trend of how expensive bowling is nowadays and it's not wrong. It IS pretty expensive but all in all a great night out with friends once in a while. The food prices here are exorbitant but, for bowling alley food, surprisingly pretty tasty. We chowed down on their loaded nachos and fries. It can be a little awkward to order as there is not always someone manning the bar and food area. It can also take a bit for someone to come by to help with technical issues with the bowling lane itself - but overall the staff was helpful and we were able to help ourselves after seeing how to reset pins. I felt like everything was pretty clean and well-maintained, too. We probably won't be regulars here. I see it kind of akin to a theme park - super fun for occasional outings despite the price tag. Being that Bowlero is the only bowling alley in Charlottesville Virginia. Your left with very few choices. We decide to bowl. Over the past few years, we have been there multiple times with teenagers and has not been anything bad but it's not been exceptional The TVs color from the projectors are typically out of line and the precision of the equipment fails quite often . For a corporate owned facility, they put very little money into making it an experience over $100 for a family of four However, the one bright spot is the gentleman who works in the restaurant He has been managing and running it for the past two years and is absolutely outstanding. It is customer service and his attention to detail. He's about 6 foot one medium build African-American young man with an infectious smile, and it always can do attitude. Does not support allergy friendly customers. My 5 year old daughter was not allowed to be able to have her own food brought in for severe food allergies and was going to be made to eat it outside. We understand food and beverage laws. There are tons of places that have no problem with this.We decided to take our business elsewhere. Do better as an organization Bowlero...The manager was nice this wasn't a confrontation but a discussion. Her hands were tied from a business standpoint. This should be changed from the top! Really cool bowling alley! Very upscale and CLEAN!! The employees here are friendly and fun! The atmosphere here is energetic and modern!! We really enjoyed the new take on bowling alley kitsch! And the food was good too!! We all had a blast here! But we found out we are TERRIBLE BOWLERS! Alex the manager was great! He helped us a lot-we had to move lanes, change shoes and such... and he was so nice and really helped us to enjoy the entire evening here! read more

I needed to wait 30 minutes for a manager to come to the front to talk to me about the lane issues I was having, once she finally showed up she spoke to me as if I was a child and was very condescending, I did give attitude back because that is how she spoke to me. Once everything was worked out I heard her call me a dick while I was walking off. My wife had gotten scolded for vaping in the building which I understand and was telling her she shouldn't have to begin with, but she saw a few staff vaping in the building but that was not really an issue to me personally. There are friendly faces and employees that will make you feel like they actually care and that is something I did appreciate. read more

This is a fine looking facility that looks well cared for but the electronic scoring hasn't worked the last four times I have gone to Bowlero over the last year. Casual bowlers blowing off steam may not care but if your score is important to you please take note. Strikes are often scored at a '9' and then a '0' for the second ball that I didn't bowl. Spares are often scored the same way which makes the score constantly lower. My son was bowling with me and was despondent because the screen didn't reflect his marks and every time we tried to have it corrected the management always seemed busy elsewhere. In fact, we went last Saturday 9/11 and while I was waiting to check in there was already another bowler reporting the same problem!! I have seen this problem 4 times over the last year on many different lanes of the center and I have reported it each time. They just tell me they know about it and are working on it. When kids go to have fun but their scores are 20% less than what they should be they won't want to go back. And, after all the money that Bowlero has obviously pumped into the decor and new bar, you would think they would get their electronic scoring problem fixed using some of that same money. read more

The inside renovation is great...but a couple lanes have glitchy pin pickup and scoring. The food/snack bar needs improvement. I waited nearly half an hour for a single order of french fries. I booked a birthday party for my son and his friends to bowl for 2 hours. It was fine, the only issue is that I had to specifically ask for every single item that was included in the birthday package, individually. Meaning, we were there for 40 minutes and I had to ask for drinks for 8 16 year old boys who were very thirsty.... An hour goes by.... Can we get some food? ... a plate of sliders comes out... 8 mini burgers for 8 boys, one bun was missing a burger. Can we get our chicken fingers and pizza and veggies now? They trickle out with the food, which was fine... the veggie tray comes out after the cookie-cake. It was quite disorganized but very Understaffed. The only saving grace was that The manager was working like a mad-woman and the rest of the staff, the few that were there were friendly and working hard to make things happen. Initially my husband and I were going to leave and go shopping while the boys bowled, now I'm glad I stayed to manage the party. Been bowling for 15 years and this is by far the worst bowling alley I've ever been too. Lanes put gashes in my ball, customer service is terrible and they seem to put all of their money in the decor and zero into the lanes. read more

Catered us for an event but failed to bring out half the food and drinks which were previously ordered. All food delivered tasted like cardboard. Got mad at us when we complained about the broken bowling lanes and missing food which we payed for. Horrendous service, even worse quality. read more

Staff is rude and unfriendly. Did not welcome or greet our group when we approached the register. I had to initiate the conversation because the young lady was clearly not interested in helping us. She flip flopped back and forth between the register and eating, drinking, and hanging out with a group of friends between customers. Easily the worst bowling alley experience of my life. I've bowled in at least 60 different allies through out 20 different states. For starters it was expensive. 7.50a game per person. One child and 2 adults for 2 game. Only the kid and one adult needed shoes. Cost almost 70 dollars. They couldn't even ring me up right away I had to wait while the cashier finished her cigarette in the front parking lot. Now let's move on to the lanes. The bumpers were up automatically. I wanted the child to have bumpers and the adults to be able to actually play. They could not accommodate. So my 5 year old had to bowl with no bumpers, real fun for her shooting gutter balls for an hour. I noticed I couldn't find any 6 pound small balls for her to use. I went to front and asked for one they said "if there isn't one at your lane or on the wall then they are all in use. Maybe if they checked lanes before seating new bowlers they would acquire the small kids balls and get them cleaned and ready for the next children who enter. I had to walk half a alley over to a bunch of adults bowling who happened to have a 6 pounder on their lane from the family before them. I asked if they were using and they said "no that's a kids ball." Lol my thoughts exactly. Why did I have to do that? Why couldn't staff accommodate me? Let's get back to bowling. My daughter wanted a ramp since she couldn't have bumpers. We walk to front and asked them to bring us a ramp for our kid. Different person says "they are all in use". Again we walk to a lane with 2 ramps and no kids and carried this massive ramp to our lane after making sure the adults by them didn't need them..... lol. First roll down the ramp, guess what........ gutter ball (1st of many) and not only that it gets stuck in the gutter because rolling down the ramp it didn't have enough speed to go in gutter and roll down the gutter completely. Again all this could be avoided if they had bumpers kids could use that would go up and down for diff bowlers. Now when adults are bowling anytime we picked up a spare it marked it as a gutter ball. Had to go into the screen and change the score ever other frame per person. Exhausting. I ask to switch lanes for this reason. No problem they moved us one lane over. All these issues left a absolutley terribly taste in my mouth about this place. We finished our first game and decided to leave and get our money back. It takes 15 min for them to find a manager to give me my refund........ then I notice the bowling prices were diff from when I came in 20 min before. Way cheaper. Why when o complained about prices did the cashier not say "if you wait 5 min it's half off the price." Finally someone can help me with a refund on 3 games. The lady flat out lies and says "I gave you a reciept and you need it for a refund". This lady never gave me a receipt. She was in too much a rush to get back to her cigarette. They refused to give me money back on games we never played due to their poor alley upkeep. This place is not family friendly and are flat out thieves if you ask me. Will never go back and will tell any of my bowling friends who consider it to save their money and time. Warrenton used to have an alley that would not return ur ball and when it did it had like burnt rubber all over your ball. I would go back to that busted ole alley before I ever come back to bowlero in Charlottesville ever again. read more
