Stopped by late afternoon for a quick bite, beer, listen to some live music and to enjoy the lake view. Not a great experience. First hint should have been the tables - several high tops still dirty and not wiped down. The ducks are cute, but to have to avoid stepping in duck sh** to get into the place, well not our thang.... Anyway we decided to give it a go and ordered some fried mushrooms, 2 orders of the double burger special, and a couple of sodas. Waited, and waited.....and waited. In the meantime the servers were busy showcasing their twerking capabilities to each other at the counter where they pick up orders. OKaaaaay. How about wiping down a few tables? So our order arrives - rather partial order. Only 1 of the double burger special arrived, and the "order of fried mushrooms" contained 9 mushrooms total, and these were not large by any stretch. For $10.75?? Good grief. We decided to split the one order of the burger special as we had waited close to 35 minutes already. To be fair, the burger was good, the fries that came with it were sparse but good. The mushrooms - meh. Oh and at the plastic cutlery dispenser station - out of forks and knives. That twerking practice must be oh so important.... The live entertainment was good though - just one guy who knew a lot of songs, and was doing his absolute best to play some requests. Entertaining, great sense of humor and sounded good - kudos to him. Net net, not interested in a return visit - certainly didn't expect a 5* or even a 4*, but this place had too many things just not up to par. read more

Nice views, plenty of parking, plenty of picnic table seating outside. If you looking to a bar-food type menu with a brew in the side then enjoy your time here. The Grill is now open Friday to Sunday from 11-9. They are open for take out but there are picnic tables in the area where you can sit down. The food is hot and fresh and fast. I think everyone would find something on this menu that pleases them. The manager, Kyndle, is super friendly and wants to make sure everyone is getting great food and enjoying it. She seems to love her job and it shows. She interacts well with customers and seems to have a great relationship with the other employees. They are very focused on making sure we are safe with the COVID days we are in. I felt things were very clean and they were serious about ensuring it was a safe environment for both the customers and employees. If you are on the lake looking for a quick bite to eat you will be glad if you stop in here. I would definitely highly recommend it. read more

Good "lake" food. These people have a prime location right on the lake... it's on a peninsula across from the Clemson football stadium. I don't know why people who own restaurants on the lake don't up their game just a notch. I think people would be willing to pay 10% more for better food. But this is decent to "good" and they have good docks for boats, so... end of complaining. Speaking of docks. Theirs is near the lighthouse. There must be 10 or 12 spots for boats. If you are there after 5:00 the gas dock is closed and it seems that you can park there and walk just a bit more to the Grill. Both are owned by the marina, so I will presume that they would not object to making money from food... This is a cut above most lakeside places that I have eaten... We have been here multiple times, so that speaks for itself. Food 3.0 The burgers are huge, juicy and on a decent bun. Good fresh lettuce. Fries are OK. Not fresh, but hey this is a "grill"... The shrimp tacos are a favorite of mine. Nicely made, with enough shrimp that you don't feel cheated. I have had the fish tacos a few times. Also good. Plenty of fish. A tip for those who don't want the extra 600 calories of fries... They will sub a salad in exchange for your fries. Ambiance 4.5 (If you like the lake) This is a lakeside grill and it had the flavor of a lakeside grill. Good appropriate music, fans, open air, some covered seats... Come by boat, wear your swimsuit. The place reminds me of any number of places I have eaten in the Caribbean or South America. Service 3.5 I can get your own drinks and beer from the small bar.. Servers will bring food to your table... If the food were just a bit better I would be truly thrilled. But as a boater, I love this place... read more

The turkey club was just OK, nothing special, but the overall vibe was great...on Lake Hartwell, nice staff. My visit was on gameday Saturday, and we were slightly ahead of the big crowd that descended on the area around noon, so we were lucky in that regard. I'll definitely go back. read more

This is a pretty stand up place. Located across the lake from Clemson University, the place appears to be run by students, but the service here was great - now granted, it doesn't have to be all that since you actually order at a window and take a number to be called when your food is ready. They have a good selection of fish and other sandwiches, burgers, etc. All of the food we had was done well, I especially loved my catfish sandwich and would definitely go back for another. What gives this place kick is that it's located in the Clemson Marina (used to be Seneca Marina) and is a great place to fuel up the boat and stop in for dinner, with a great view of the lake, cornhole, and a playground for the kiddos. Large TVs are in the dining area so you can catch a game or what not, I'm sure this will be a great place to kick back during football season. I'll be back for sure, even if not just for a random visit. I'd be on a five star here but you can only get the burger well done, and my other half star subtraction would be that it is not a full service restaurant. For as many employees as they had, they could definitely stand to be full service. read more

While waiting for a meeting at Freedom Boat Club I had some time to kill. The young ladies working there were very nice. I ordered the cheeseburger with bbq sauce and a couple of onion rings on it. It came with fries. I couldn't tell if the cheeseburger was freshly grilled but it was definitely preformed. It was thick but rather dry and tasteless. The fries were pretty tasteless, too. Warning: This is long I would never complain or post a complaint about an experience with any business because I have never had a negative experience or situation where the managers or employees did not attempt to make the situation right or at least apologize. So given that is what we experienced yesterday, I decided to go ahead. We have been going to "The Grill" at Clemson marina for years during the hot summer days of football to eat and enjoy watching the game, we have always been pleased with the atmosphere, food, and friendliness of their staff... until yesterday. We had been seated and my husband decided to call in the order over the phone as we were watching the game, the person who answered the phone, took our order and was aware that we were there, already had tab, and were seated! No problem, right?? WRONG!! The place was obviously busy, given it's a hot Saturday on the lake and Clemson is playing a home game. There were only 2 servers- a waitress- Melissa who was very nice and another male server, who also seemed nice, both of them were working their tails off, non stop, and still smiling! The waitress had a tray of food in hand and called order #21 for at least 5 minutes- going from corner to corner and side to side, with no claim from any of the customers. She came to us, my husband said that we had a call in and couldn't remember being given a number. He told her what we had ordered and she said that's exactly what I have on this tray, so it must be your order because no one has claimed it (that seemed logical to all of us), so we gladly accepted what we thought was our food. We were eating at our table when another employee with reddish haired was standing on the other side of restaurant staring at us and making mean gestures and faces towards us. My husband was like, "is she trying to say something to us, she seems mad, let me go over there and see what's going on." He went up to her and said "ma'am is there a problem?" She responded by yelling with "Yes there is a problem, y'all screwed up another tables food and order because y'all called your order in and we don't even take call in orders here and y'all took their order!" My husband said "sorry, no one informed me that I couldn't call in the order when I did it and your attitude and the looks your giving me are crazy and I don't appreciate it" he then turned away and came back to the table. She then followed him back to our table and proceeded to argue with him by saying "we're understaffed"... etc etc. I then interceded and said "well it sounds like a management problem here... poor management". She gave me the most evil, crazy eyes I have ever seen and said "it's not a management problem, the problem is people don't want to work!!" And I then responded by saying "yes, probably due to poor management!". She then said, "I'm the manager and I don't appreciate that comment!!" And she walked away. Within 2 minutes another employee- a man (brown haired, small build) came over to our table and looked at my husband and said "what's your problem?" My husband said- "my only problem is that rude manager and the way that she looked and spoke to me and caused a scene." He said "I'm the manager!" I then said- "my husband didn't know that y'all didn't take call ins and no one told him that when the order was placed, in fact they knew. We understand y'all are short staffed, but I did let the lady know that was probably due to poor management". He then gave us a nasty look and turned and walked away (we never saw him again). Neither "manager" ever introduced themselves, nor apologized! We then requested our tab, tipped our sweet waitress generously and watched the rest of the game, and left. We will never be going back! **I must also add, that 3 strangers who witnessed the event, approached us and said that they were unprofessional towards us, the red headed lady was rude to them as well, and they were very disappointed in their service! read more

What a gem in Clemson! They've just opened for the season so the weather was perfect to enjoy the fantastic views of Lake Hartwell and Memorial Stadium. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. All dining is outside where they have covered and deck seating. We definitely look forward to coming back. read more

We used to come here all of the time and we would always bring our out of town guests here because it was a fun boat outing and they had good food for a reasonable price, but this year they raised their prices and cut down on the quantity of food, so we have found other places on the lake to go to. It's too bad because the kids always liked playing on the swing set. read more

Ive been to The Grill 3 times now....the day of the grand opening ( when they lost my order) and twice since.....second time...I ordered the shrimp dinner which came with hushpuppies....which were raw in the center, they offered to recook....3rd time....I ordered the shrimp dinner again...and the cole slaw was soured...obviously over a week old.....This restaurant has a limited menu...and so far...they cant seem to make simple food and get it right.....the walk up order window is silly.....because the wait staff still comes to your table...ALTHO....they put in a self service drink center last I was there....for the price of food there....they should have far better food and service....at this pt...I cant recommend this place..... read more
