We were in Anderson on Monday for lunch and we happened by this place because it was the restaurant that opened up the earliest - at 3 PM. Boy was that a delightful find! The service was fast and efficient and nice and friendly. My husband and I both ordered a draft beer that came in a frozen mug! YUM! Just what we needed on a hot day! I ordered the cheeseburger with the whiskey sauce on it and my husband ordered the Philly cheese. We both loved our meals. My hamburger was cooked perfectly and had a beautiful fresh tomato and crunchy lettuce on it! The tater tots were freshly cooked and perfectly salty . I have been ordered the Philly cheese and loved that the meat was very thinly sliced and not fatty. I think we would drive to Anderson from Townville (on Lake Hartwell) just to eat here ! read more

Well first thing.... Don't go in there at shift change!!! We did and apparently it pisses off the big woman waitress with tattoos and dark hair. She came to our table as we sat down looked at us and didn't say hello or nothing. Had a frustrated look and said what are you drinking? We gave our drink order and as she walked away we looked at each other like what the hell?! She served us our food then told us her shift ended, as we are eating and proceeded to let us know we needed to pay. We obliged and stupid me gave her a tip thinking she might top off our drinks before she left. She cashed out our tip counted her money and left!! Well as we sat there still eating no one bothered to check on us or offer refills. It wasn't even busy. We just sat waiting for a refill. But NO.... We had to go to the bar and ask the bartender for refills which she did gladly. We appreciated her willingness to do that. I loved this place, it's our go to place to eat when we just want to relax but this past visit makes me not wanna go back anymore. The waitress had an attitude from the time we sat down. No one there working thought of us at all for any kind of service. My fault for tipping this rude waitress but I guarantee you.., it won't happen again!!! read more

First 2 visits not such great service. Last night when sitting at the bar, 100% better service. Bartender was a real sweet new mom. I'll go back just to have her serve us! We had not been here in a while, and boy, what a change. The inside has been updated. No more smoke smell, and much newer and cleaner looking. We had great service. The burgers and wings were delicious. It appeared much more family-oriented than before. We were told that they are planning on revising the menu in June 2021, adding new entrees. The ceiling tiles were falling down while we ate which we would not have noticed but the server pointed it out in front of everyone.. the womens bathroom has 2 stalls separated byyyyyyyyy nothing no door to close in between the two toilets. Very awkward. We waited quite sometime for our food. We both got burgers. The bacon on them was great but neither of ours had the sauce on them that the menu claimed they had. The potato side was great but the coleslaw was super bland. For the price, it was ok. I took my mother to Anderson for lunch and we have our Favorite places and still like to try new places. We live on Lake Keowee an hour away and Thankful we stopped here. From the second we walked in the door, the workers greeted us warmly and with open arm. Jillian, the bartender, has worked here for years and is AWESOME!!!! Before I begin: This restaurant is a full smoking location with poor ventilation, be careful if you have breathing problems. My mother and I got the Larry Burger without onions or ketchup, but added bacon. The burgers were very moist, perfectly cooked, but lacking on seasoning. The bun was very soft and fresh. The plates came with their own fresh cut fries, and lots of them with plenty of salt. My sister got the Hamburger Steak with sweet potato fries, also freshly cut. The steak was massive and she said it was moist with a flavorful brown gravy. The plate was served with a bowl of pan-seared veggies including red bell pepper, snow peas, broccoli and yellow carrots. She loved all of it, but mentioned that the snow peas weren't quite suitable for her tastes. Our pre-tip total was approximately $31. I had been wanting to try this place for a while, and will definitely be back when I crave hamburger steak. read more

My girlfriends and I decided to try something new and ended up here on a recommendation. The final decision is we would absolutely return for appetizers and cocktails but will never try the burgers again. Personally mine was very small, did not have all the toppings it was supposed to, and the patty was so over seasoned it was gross. Others said theirs had no seasoning at all. The sweet potato and regular fries were good. The staff was friendly but not very knowledgeable and extremely unorganized. The bartender was on top of her game though. Side note: As someone who has friends that are mothers and/or have various health issues, restrooms are important. Having a ladies room with two toilets and no doors is just unacceptable. If ladies are willing to walk across the street to the library bathroom instead of using yours, you should take note and fix that. read more

Waitress answered the phone and had a conversation while we were ordering. Waitress never asked us how we'd were doing. Got the nachos and the were no edible they were the sale at chips I have ever eaten. My burger was missing bacon and had avocado on it and just plopped half of an avocado on top of it and the burger was over cooked. Fries were almost raw and was like eating a potato and super cold. The uptown lounge is in an old lounge that appears to have been attached in some way to a motel back in the day. From the outside it looks like it could be a seedy establishment due to its lack of windows and medieval looking heavy ass wooden doors. When you walk in its totally not what you expect from the outside. Besides the whiff of stale and fresh cigarette smoke that hits the nostrils (which can be a detractor for some but remember this place is really a bar first). Place has been recently updated within the past 3-5 years at it appears. There's a couple of pool tables, booth seating and a jukebox in the corner. Here's a breakdown of my food and hospitality experience. Ambiance 3.5 stars I like seedy but modern. This place doesn't try to hide its roots and beginnings. It doesn't try to pose as some little trendy bar for hipsters with fluffy beards and skinny jeans. It's just what it is. Full demographic of Anderson. From lawyers to blue collar workers. Soccer moms to the local lady of ill repute. Cleanliness 4 stars. Unexpectedly clean. Based on the outside I was expecting seat covers to practice safe eating, but was really clean and like I said had a fresh face lift a few years back and they've done a good job maintaining. Bar 3.5 stars. Pretty good selection of liquor, beers and custom drinks. Only detractor was seeing soufflé cups over the nozzles of liqueurs. Usually a sign of a fruit fly problem. Food selection 4 stars. More than ample selection for lunch or dinner. Typical bar food but with a little more creativeness. Larry's Burger 5 stars. Sweet 6 pound 11 ounce baby Jesus. This may be the best burger I have had in the past 6 months. Please be patient as I breakdown. The bun was perfectly toasted on the inside and out on a flat grill. I'm glad they did this because of the ample tasty toppings. The party was perfectly cooked but juicy and tender to the last bite. They use a higher fat ground beef, which I like. You could really taste the little bits of crusty grill goodness. Two thick slices of fresh tomatoes and a whole slice of onion. Break out the breathmints if you plan on making out later. Onion Rings 4 stars-really good. Perfectly fried and golden brown. They have a horseradish dipping sauce upon request. French Fries 2.5 stars-worst part of my meal but not a deal breaker. Just needed to be par-fried beforehand. Probably fresh cut per order so they were just really greasy. Hospitality 4 stars-I was waited on by the bartender and she did an awesome job. Kept up with me before, during and after the meal. Great Gal! Check this out people. You won't be disappointed. read more

This was probably one of my worst dining experiences I've had. The atmosphere and pool table were the only positives of my experience. First, when we were ordering, our waitress answers her personal phone and has a conversation with whoever on the phone. This was literally in the middle of us ordering. Secondly, the food was just not good. I had nachos as an appetizer and every chip was stale, greasy, and foldable like a tortilla. The quesadilla I had wasn't bad but the fries had to have been the worst fries I've ever tried. They also messed up my friends order as well. Will not be going back. If your thinking about trying it, don't. Save your time and money. More quality food and service can be found at McDonald's. read more

Went from 4.5 to 2.5 during COVID simply because they they went from being smoker friendly to only catering to their smoker regulars. If you smoke and aren't here every day, or with the click, "outdoor service sucks", plus saw indoor bartender spending most of her time outside with the regulars. Bottom line is wasn't the COVID downfall, more of going from smoker friendly to only supporting the regular smoking crowd. read more

Decided to try Uptown Lounge again today for lunch. I would like to say that the experience was worth more than the 2 stars I gave it on the first visit but I can't. As with the first visit, the food was very good but after waiting on the burgers for 40 minutes we had to change the order to take-out because of a schedule conflict. The waitor was great but I felt sorry for him because of the fact that a large to-go order was placed just before he submitted our order to the kitchen, which, by the way, had only one cook (we were told this by the waitor). My draft beer was heavily carbonated and we were told that this has been an ongoing problem. I'm still holding out hope for UL but they still have a little work to do. read more

Located off of Main Street with plenty of parking. Very diversified crowd of both young and old. Bartenders are friendly and nice. We ordered at around 10pm and kitchen closed at 11. Seemed to talk sorta long to get our food. I ordered the philly cheese steak and hand cut fries. Arrived on a very nice plate, but was somewhat disappointed in the portion size. I have found that most bar food attempts to give you larger portions. The fries were very good. Hand cut and cooked perfectly. Could have used about another half portion though. The sandwich was average at best. Not a lot of meat, not much for onions and peppers. Could have used more of all 3 and perhaps some mushrooms. Nice place to stop for a drink, and perhaps a quick bite, but I might skip the bite. read more
