This is quite possibly the best restaurant to ever exist in Stanford…read more I grew up in Stanford, I can tell you that in the 1980's and 1990's that local restaurants here were nothing but no-name greasy spoon diners selling nothing but fairly generic "burger and fries" and breakfast food, and it was usually pretty lousy. I was back in the town I grew up in a couple of weeks ago, and heard there was a really nice cafe in Stanford now called the Bluebird, so I sought it out. I was amazed. This definitely is more like a place I would expect in Lexington or Louisville. The food is genuinely good. Iced coffee and espresso, hot browns, and lots of other food that was never in Stanford when I was growing up there as a kid. I know that Stanford went wet a few years ago in a referendum, but it's still surreal to see margaritas and other mixed drinks on the menu in a place in Stanford. The ambiance was friendly and welcoming, and struck a nice balance between small town friendly. I had a patty melt, which was probably the best meal I'd ever had in a restaurant in Stanford in my entire life. I will definitely be back the next time I come back to my old hometown.

(If you are ending elsewhere, you really need to consider a road trip here for dinner. WORTH IT!) If you're local, I don't understand how you aren't here every weekend. Spent a weekend on the bourbon trail, and this place was the food/service highlight of the weekend! We went looking for some good southern comfort food and our expectations were exceeded. Every item tasted was so good that we immediately made the rest of the table taste it as well. Generous portions, excellent prices, amazing food. Every entrée, every side, just amazing. And the pie! So good we had to get a couple extra pieces to go to snack on later. As a table we had fried catfish, a ribeye, country fried steak, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, baked tomatoes, green beans, creamed peas, french fries, cornbread, hush puppies. All of us simultaneously felt we had the best order on the table, and order envy for what was on everyone else's plates. It was that good. The only rival to this amazing food was the people and service of those working there. Everyone was so friendly and warm, it was like having dinner at family's house. It may be a while before we are back to the bourbon trail, but I can already tell that when we do, the first item on the agenda is stopping back here, and we will plan everything else around it.

We…read morebegan with the calamari appetizer, and it set the tone perfectly--tender, flavorful, and exceptionally well‑seasoned. One of those starters that makes you pause and say, "this place is going to be good." For entrées, our table tried a little bit of everything: the filets, the crab cakes, and the Wagyu half‑pound hamburger. Every dish hit the mark. The filets were cooked with precision, the crab cakes were packed with clean, fresh flavor, and the Wagyu burger was rich, juicy, and deeply satisfying. You could tell the kitchen takes real pride in their craft. You can buy them a round of beers if you like the food. It's on the menu! The service was excellent throughout--attentive without hovering, friendly without being forced, and genuinely committed to making the meal enjoyable. I enjoyed the atmosphere as it was not too loud and the interior decor is unique. Copper & Oak is the kind of spot that blends quality, comfort, and professionalism in a way that makes you want to come back soon. If you are in Danville check it out. .

Who can manage to mess up a burger? I ordered it medium and it came crispy well done. I give up. Last time for me.

Then I ordered the soup and a side of grits, which were both delicious. My husband order the Beef cheek Po Boy - yummy! And my friend ordered the Cuban. The fries are tasty and everything tasted incredibly fresh and well prepared. Of course we saved room for dessert and shared the Banana Cream Pudding. It had a roasted marshmallow top and probably the beat Banana pudding I've had! For drinks, we got the Filly Lilly, A specialty Mint Julio with Thyme in it, and the winner was the Strawberry Rhubarb Buck. Wow! Not only was the food delicious, but the service was great and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We sat inside because it was a dreary first half of the day before the sun came out for the Derby! But, there were a lot of nice outdoor areas to sit and enjoy your food or beverages. You will find something you love at the Kitchen Table. I highly recommend!

Brisket dinner. Just ok. Slightly dry, definitely needed a sauce on the side. The bean medley on the bottom was ok. I don't think i would order again. Honey glazed fried chicken was the star of the show. Perfectly crispy exterior with juicy meat on the inside. The best bite of the day for sure. The surprise of the day was the "french onion soup" inspired mac and cheese. Just a delicious play on a traditional mac and cheese.

Mike F. described the food and eating experience perfectly…read more The Lighthouse Restaurant in Sulphur Well, Ky is not only a local legend but their fame is truly national. I traveled a circuit of the United States for many years and as Sulphur Well is my home address I was constantly shocked by the number of people I met who knew just where it was. The most common response to where I was from was "that restaurant"! Well, that restaurant and the old country store are all that is left now of a long and unique history. As for The Lighthouse Restaurant, formerly Porters Restaurant, they have made their place in history. That Restaurant is the place to be for the best home style cooking you'll ever enjoy. Authentic log cabins are available for rent there now at Cabin Creek along with the wonderful shopping experience of unique antiques at the Piddlin' Barn. Just in case you're wondering, I am not involved in any way with any businesses here.

The Lighthouse Restaurant in Edmonton, Kentucky, shines as a true celebration of Southern comfort,…read moreand nowhere is that more evident than in its unforgettable county ham and eggs. We stopped in here by chance, we had seen reviews in Kentucky Living and thought we would give it a try. From the moment the plate arrives, it's clear this is not just breakfast--it's heritage served hot. The county ham is the undeniable star: salt-cured, deeply flavorful, and expertly cooked so that each bite balances its robust savoriness with just enough tenderness. This is authentic Kentucky country ham--bold, unapologetic, and rich with tradition--prepared the way it should be, not watered down for convenience but honored for its character. Paired alongside are perfectly cooked eggs, done to order with a care that speaks volumes. Whether you prefer them fried with golden, lacy edges or softly scrambled, they provide the ideal counterpoint to the ham's intensity--creamy, fresh, and comforting. Together, the combination is simple, honest, and profoundly satisfying, the kind of meal that reminds you why classic breakfasts endure. What elevates The Lighthouse beyond just good food is the sense of place it delivers. This is a restaurant that understands its roots and proudly serves the flavors of the region without pretense. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the kind where locals linger over coffee and visitors immediately feel at home. Every bite of that county ham feels like a quiet nod to generations of Kentucky kitchens that perfected it long before it became a menu item. In a world of overcomplicated brunches, The Lighthouse stands tall by doing one thing exceptionally well: serving real food, made right. If you're in Edmonton, missing the county ham and eggs here would be nothing short of a culinary oversight. you are looking for comfort food this is the place to eat. Meals feels as though your home with your family. The place offers large portions, family style dinning and a welcoming environment. Don't forget the pie at the end. The pie is the cherry on top!

We sat mostly on the front patio with a table or two inside later in the evening. Everyone ordered their own food and drinks. Adam and his bar staff took great care of us. They got the first rounds of drinks taken care of then took food orders. The deviled eggs were popular, plentiful, and delicious. I got the fried chicken (again) with a side of real mashed potatoes and gravy. It was fantastic (again). I really should try something else sometime. But others did and I heard no complaints. They serve breakfast any time and a couple got omelettes and cleaned their plates, raving about the hashbrowns (no meat fat to cook, so vegetarian friendly). All the cocktails were good. New seasonal menu had just started and the Marmalade Sour got good reviews. They have a larger patio out back and an ample dining room. It's a great stop when in Georgetown.
