Avoid this salon at ALL costs. I used them for the first time today and had a horrendous experience. The mobile groomer brought my dog back to me WET... I sent her a text message asking why she hadn't dried her completely and didn't hear back right away. I called the salon and let them know what happened and they said the groomer let them know my dog tried to hang herself while being dried so she stopped drying her for her safety.. this wasn't disclosed to me when my dog was dropped off. I was told "she was a great dog and did well". The groomer finally texts me back and says "she was acting a little crazy but she'll dry her better next time" My dog smells like wet dog and her teeth weren't cleaned either. What a waste of time and money. When I spoke to the receptionist she let me know the owner would be in and would call me in 30 minutes. An hour goes by and I didn't receive a call. I called the salon again and was told the owner was busy..and would call back. When the owner calls me back she answers "Hi, I am supposed to be giving you a call back"?. It seemed like she was completely unaware of what was going on.. I spoke to the owner who was gaslighting me about the whole situation and said the groomer probably told me my dog was good to be positive... unbelievable. I will never support this business and encourage others to be cautious... I don't play about my pet. As a result of my experience, I requested a refund and received it. read more

If you live in southern Maryland, I would suggest calling The Groom Room for your pets mobile grooming needs. I switch from a chain location to The Groom Room over a year ago and I have not been disappointment. Martha is great with my Pomeranian and she always gets the job done right and in a timely manner. I would've given them five stars but sometimes It's hard to get an appointment because they are always booked and busy. That's my only complaint so other than that they offer everything that you need at your home. How convenient is that? Keep in mind because it is a mobile service, it is a little more expensive than going into a location but it save you hours so I'll take it! read more

I scheduled an appointment for my two dogs for grooming and was quoted $60 per dog if there was no matting. Upon checkin my dogs were evaluated and one of them had mats which I knew. I was a aware that would be extra but when I arrived to pick up the bill was about $170. I inquired about the pricing and was informed that it was extra for conditioner, but I did not approve the extras outside of the matting. I still tipped 15%, but probably would not return due to the unapproved add on. read more

We got exactly what we wanted!. I have a white mini schnauzer and no other place i've gone before has done this great of a service. I've taken him to The Playful Pup down the street; they never dematt him completely. (Not to mention the terrible service i got from the OWNER) I've also taken him to Muttropolitan. They did a good job, but they didn't keep in mind what I had asked for. They were all super nice, AND they let me meet the groomer. I was able to tell her my concerns. She was wonderful! And, it didn't take them 5 hours to groom him (like other places). They were done in less than an hour and a half! My baby didn't get nicked, or cut, and he was completely dematted. awesome! Beware to all pet owners! My daughter dropped our dog off to be groomed this week. When she arrived she was asked to sign a matted and tangled hair paper. I have been getting my dogs groomed for 30+ years and have never heard of this before. We had our other dog there a couple of weeks ago to be groomed and didn't sign a paper. She was dropped off at 9am and was not finished until 1pm. When my daughter picked her up, the groomer proceeded to tell her she had cut her ear? Then proceeds to tell her how she would not cooperate and how she needed more social time around other dogs and people. Funny she said this, because i have 5 dogs and she has been groomed at other places for the last 4 years and never had any problems. When she was brought out my daughter said she was looking very scared. When my daughter got her home she called me to let me know about them cutting her ear. When i got home she was laying in the same spot where my daughter had left her to go to work, she had not moved. She looked very traumatized and would not even get up to. I go to look at her ear and it wasn't cut, the tip of the ear was cut completely off!! Oh and by the way the paper that was signed, on the bottom it reads if they hurt your pet they will seek medical help at owners cost. read more

Unfortunately had a terrible experience today! Dropped my 2 dogs off at 8:50 am for a 9 am apt. Was given no indication whatsoever that the groomers were understaffed. Called 3 hours later at 11:50 and was told that my dogs had been sitting in a crate for 3 hours because of understaffing. Then 25 minutes later, both dogs had been given a rush grooming job and returned to me still very wet...for $112. Will not be recommending to any of my many pet owning friends or returning, ever. read more

Please don't take your dog here. They do the least and charge the most. They quote one price and then charge $50+ more when you get there-so be ready for that if you do go. They don't have experienced groomers for large, fluffy dogs. Save yourself (and your dog) the trouble and find somewhere else to go. read more

My mom had her yellow lab groomed and when they finished, his eyes were red and bulged out. The dog was freaked out. He was extremely upset. When my mom asked what happened they said he struggled and he was difficult. My mom took our dog to the vet and the vet said it looked like he had been strangled. I would be extremely careful bringing your pet here. I knew pet abuse was common in grooming and boarding but I never imagined it would happen to our dog. Shame on the groomer. If he couldn't handle my mom's dog, he should have just called her to come get him, instead of choking him out. I am beyond disgusted and upset. Our dog is the sweetest animal and very gentle natured. He doesn't deserve to get abused because he's scared of the groomer. Good luck sending your pets here. read more

After trying other dog groomers in the DMV area, I have finally found my dog's home salon at the Groom Room! I have had bad experiences at other groomers from horrible cuts to my dog just not smelling clean. I can truly say that the Groom Room not only listens to my picky requests and gets my dog's cut right every visit, but they treat the animals with care. The only suggestion that I would give to the salon is to maybe light one of the awesome pet candles that they sale throughout the day. The pet smell is very over whelming when you enter the door. My little fur baby has had some very difficult grooming experiences. He's nervous in general and terrified of electric clippers. I shared all of this with his groomer, Erica, she told me she would take her time with him and finish with the scissors if he was just too nervous. She did just what she promised. Sebastian looked great and he was so happy when he left. I took him outside to potty and he kept pulling me to go back inside. I had to take him back in to say his goodbyes. We take our two rather finicky dogs (a shiba inu and a belgian malinois) here every month to have their nails trimmed. It's always a quick in-and-out visit, which we definitely appreciate! Our shiba hates to have his nails trimmed, and they do a great job with him. Our malinois is typically scared of EVERYTHING and doesn't even mind having her nails trimmed here! We think it helps that the groomers are truly dog lovers and have a sense of confidence about them that the dogs can feel. Here is a true story about this place that I am sure another employee will end up deleting this review or trying to deny it, but I can't keep a secret like this away. I bought my pup over 2 years ago and this was the first place I took him to get bathed and his glands done. The first couple of trips to the groomer (mind you, I live about 30 minutes away) I dropped him off and then came to pick up a still happy pup. He looked great and smelled amazing. I started seeing a turn around about the 4th time I took him to get groomed. He didn't seem to be happy when I would pick him up and he looked scared to death. Unfortunately one very bad time/experience at the groomer and the next day I had to take him to the emergency vet because he was so ill. The vet explained that his nerves were completely shot and someone had been giving him treats that were making him sick. Not saying that the groomer did it on purpose but I know what I give my dog and he was never out of my vision the entire evening before the vet (even went with me in the bathroom!) After a $1000.+ vet bill he finally recovered. I let this incident slide, as I'm sure most dogs get scared when people are doing things to them they don't really like such as bathing. The next time and last time I took him to the groom room, I witnessed a few of the employees being very nasty to other dogs in the room being groomed b/c they wouldn't listen to them (I would try to run away if I was a dog being treated like that!) Again, later on that night, my dog began the same exact symptoms as he did previously and so I had to give him more medicine and exspenses to help my poor pup out. He was a perfectly healthy dog but for someone to stress him out that bad to the point he gets very ill, that is insane. I have never taken my pup back to this groomer and when I tried to make a complaint about what was going on I just got a very cold shoulder and I am sure the "wall" would have been easier to talk to. Just goes to show the employees are not there to work with animals moreso they are there to get $$$. A good groomer salon is one that you can see the groomers at work instead of being blocked off by a wall. This way you know that they are treating all of the animals friendly. read more

I took my two year old Labrador retriever here a couple days ago, we previously used the Petsmart groomers in Waldorf. I'm not sure if he was abused there or had a bad experience because he refuses to go back inside the place now. I did some research on good groomers in the area and found the groom room had a lot of positive remarks. The ladies and staff there were all very patient and caring with simba. The first few times I took my 10-month Cavanese there I used Katie and she was wonderful. This last time, Katie was out sick and Christina did Tink. First off he was there for 2 hours and 42 minutes before she started him. Then she called saying he was matted on his throat and chest and she had to shave him. She went on to say he'd look "funny" so she wanted to shave him all over. I said absolutely NOT. I got so nervous I went up there and watched. During that time she pulled his ear twice to turn his head and pulled his face hair 3 times. I could not believe the abusive treatment to a puppy. And yes, he did look funny, but not just because his throat was shaved, but also she cut his ears uneven and a half dozen other botched grooming. And to top it off, they cut his belly! I tried to locate the owner and couldn't. I asked them and they refused to tell me. Bottom line, I'm not going to have my pet mistreated by her ever again. I have heard that their mobile groomers are better. But Katie is truly the exception there. Lesson learned. read more

Worst schedulers ever. After having a mobile visit appt scheduled for over a month ago to be told 15 mins after the appt time I was to be in the office with my 2 Golden's I'm very concerned and upset to this error. I have used this place several times in the past at my house in Waldorf and setting expectations for someone to just show up within less than 10 mins and call again while in route that I'm still late. Seriously. No kidding I'm late!!! After speaking with the manager just to be told she has a funeral to go to made me go through the roof as I just lost my mother two weeks ago and hers 9 years ago. Wrong way to sympathize with a client that you screwed up the appt and can't schedule or coordinate or accommodate properly. Before using this place as the folks taking calls for making appts are not paying attention to details with their scheduling system really makes keeping them as reputable mobile groomer. I look forward to hearing from owners that are in Florida for Easter. You can thank your manager for those details. read more
