First of all, we want to say that we have been dog "parents" in Old Town Alexandria, Va. for almost 50 years. We have a lot of experience with the various groomers in this area and in Old Town proper. None of them can compare to the service that we received from Saoirse at The Dog Park at 705 King Street. She was receptive to our needs (we have a shy Shetland Sheepdog, Grace), and she is so easy to work with. Her finished groom was OUTSTANDING, and everyone in The Dog Park was friendly and outgoing (unlike many groomers here in town). Very fair pricing, a gentle and loving attitude from Saoirse, and a wonderful finish for our little girl makes giving The Dog Park and Saoirse a much deserved 5 Star rating! read more

I had a few good grooming visits at this place but the last one left me very upset. The groomer cut both sides of my dog's face and I didn't find out until days later when it started scabbing and bleeding. I eventually had to get him checked out at the vet. I understand that things happen but what really made me upset is the dismissiveness of the situation. I called and spoke to an employee about the situation and he advised me to email pictures of my dog's face. I did so to his email address twice and a general email address, and I never got a response. Even if he did I not get the emails (not sure how he could have not), some type of follow up would have been considerate. I don't appreciate the incident with my dog being dismissed, especially since I paid $140 for his grooming. I would have appreciated more kindness in the situation. I will not return and have found a new groomer. read more

I can't say enough great things about the Doggie Day Care at the Dog Park! My pups, Chloe and Jackson, absolutely adore it here. They practically pull me to the door every morning because they can't wait to see Zee and Isaac. These two treat every dog like their own, taking them on lovely walks around Old Town, giving them tons of affection, and even letting them get a little treadmill time in. I had my mini golden doodle Billie groomed here. Apparently I filled out the form on the website incorrectly and was not getting a full grooming out of my error. I really needed the grooming and they were accommodating. I had specific requests on how I needed her cut, and they executed and did an inCredible job. In fact, it was the best grooming I've ever had done. A lesson I learned was to bring in pictures of previous grooming, and describe from the pictures how I wanted my pup groomed. Dropped my Dog for a 12 o'clock on December 26 2024 appointment and got a call from the Groomer at 2:20 to inform me that my dog will not be ready at 3 o'clock that it would be later after he assure me that my Dog will take only three hours, which is what it normally takes for a big golden doodle, so I decided to stop at 3 o'clock to see the progress, to my dismay, my was being bathed at that time because he took another appointment at 3 :15 to groom another dog, what did he do between 12 and 3 with me dog?.I called them again at 4 o'clock and I was told that The Dog will not be ready until 6 o'clock so I decided to go ahead and pick up my Dog-and forgo the haircut, I told the owner who was behind the register that I would be happy just to pay for the The pedicure and the bath NO HAIRCUT and was informed that it will be $170 which was the initial charge for a full Grooming , I said this was an outrageous amount of money for a pedicure, a bath and a brush,completely unacceptable! For a boutique Grooming salon in Alexandria, this was the most unprofessional place I've ever been. There were no apologies, or let me take care of this. Why would you have an unexperienced groomer in your shop and charge this outrageous prices? To topped off the groomer comes out to wish me a Merry Christmas! Shame-on you people! I'm not a fan of using Yelp as a vehicle for negativity, but am compelled to do so after the owner publicly misrepresented my experience at The Dog Park (basically calling me a liar). Also note that I came on here to see if I could privately message the owner but the messaging option is disabled. On 11/26, I attempted to return a dog collar that I purchased 2 days prior. I wasn't offered a receipt at the time of purchase (it was Black Friday and very busy) but on 11/26 the employee said if I had some info, he could try to look it up. So, I gave the exact date of purchase (11/24), approximate time (before 12:30) and approximate price ($25). He spent less than a minute looking though the POS system and then told me that the POS system could only go back to 11/25 and that I could not return the dog collar (which still had the price tag on it). I thought that was odd, since it was only 2 days earlier. I asked "are you sure, there's nothing else you can do?" and he said "sorry." He never asked me to look up the exact charge on my credit card statement (which would have taken me 30 seconds to do online), another "fact" the owner misstated which isn't true. Unfortunately, the owners response (stating things that are untrue including blaming me for him not being able to check out other customers when there was no one else in line during the attempted return) has turned me off of what was one of my favorite small businesses in Old Town. read more

[UPDATE -] The owner and his reply to my review is not truthful! There were no other customers in line when my wife attempted to return the dog collar. The manager did not offer my wife the opportunity to contact her credit card company (that would have taken her two seconds to find). Furthermore, the store was given the date and time of purchase, which was only two days earlier. What I do agree on is that Yelp needs to convey the truth - and the owner should not perpetuate untruths. --- [Initial review] I try to shop at small businesses and when I do customer service is paramount. The Dog Park refused to accept a return for a collar my wife bought. Admittedly, she didn't get a receipt because the store was very busy at the time of purchase. I adopted a lovely little girl from the Humane Society. When she came in the hair had matted so badly it cut off circulation to the front leg. it was so bad that her leg needed to be amputate. I was absolutely shocked at the 1 star reviews for my favorite store in Old Town! I have been coming to The Dog Park since adopting my cat Georgie 4 years ago. They carry his favorite brand of dry cat food and let's face it, those of us that have cats know that if the cat ain't happy no one is! I continued on with my patronage when Tina our second cat came home to live with me and since she prefers wet food, back to our store we went and found a brand she loves! Now, enter Adele, our almost 1 year old Pug princess! Who is on a raw diet, the owner stocks her brand of Stella and Chewy frozen parties, meal mixers and when she overheard that Adele also enjoys goat milk as part of her diet even brought it in so I didn't have to run all over looking for it! Now that as far as I am concerned that is customer service! The staff is AMAZING and have NEVER been anything but professional during my visits. Virtually every single time the greeting is "Hi, what do the babies need now" Their clothing selection for dogs is nice and Adele owns a few pieces, ok more than a few, so the selection is there! I usually like coming in here for the good selection of tough toys for my toy destroying dogs. Today, there was half the normal selection spread out to make it look like a lot vs just stating they're out of stock. My biggest disappointment for today was hearing your employee give Veterinary advice to another customer. Your employees are not educated or licensed to be giving medical or health advice to pet owners. Especially since its inaccurate. Hopefully the customer that they helped also takes into consideration their educated and licensed Veterinarian's advice before their pets health is affected. read more
