The Grove has quickly become our go to spot for a night out with friends. Good food and drinks. Most importantly, we have a consistently great experience every time we go. On this visit we were served by Ben and he knocked it out of the park joking around with our quirky group. I recommend the wings, fried pickles, calamari, chicken sliders and, believe it or not, the fish sticks are awesome. I love that we can always get a table between 5 and 7pm and will be gone before the bar crowds start. If you like the Pour House, I think you will like The Grove. read more

If you are a true Fish and Chips kind of person. Do not order theirs! The batter was great however the Fish (Swai) was awful. Mushy not flakey and definitely very cheap. This is a farm raised fish and is not recommended by "Seafood Watch" run by the Monterey Bay Aquarian. If they change to a Pollack, Haddock, or Cod this would've been a great selection. My wife and I treated a new friend to lunch here, and we will NEVER return. This was our 1st visit to the Grove. While the hostess and other servers were kind & helpful, our waiter was not concerned with us at all. After ordering, we waited at least 15 minutes for our food and had to ask another server to check on our order as our waiter was nowhere to be found. Our friend ordered a "fluffy vegetable omelet", which looked like reconstituted egg product with tiny flecks of veg. Flat as a pancake, not "fluffy" at all and she said it was terrible and did not finish it, not even close. I ordered the poutine and asked that the three of us share it, as our friend had never tried poutine. I also ordered the chicken sliders. The chicken was terribly dried out, and the $6.99 "poutine" I asked for the table to share, was put on my plate with the sliders! Just a tiny handful of fries with a small blob of what appeared to be canned gravy and a few shreds of yellow cheese, it was awful! My wife got a Caesar salad with shrimp, and although the shrimp was decent, the salad itself was smothered in way too much dressing. Our friend was chilly and asked about hot cocoa, which we were told by our server, they did not have. A few minutes later we saw a cup of something hot with whipped cream go by to another table. We asked another waiter about it, and they said it was an Irish coffee. Our friend ordered it (through another server), but that should have been suggested by OUR server when we asked about cocoa. Unfortunately, she only took one sip and pushed it away saying it was "gross". We were very disappointed to say the least and our friend said she felt terrible we had to pay for that crappy lunch. first things first, I'll start by saying I used to frequent the grove, however, there has been a significant change in the way the patrons are treated, and it's beginning to cater to a crowd of under age drinkers to generate foot traffic as opposed to maintaining the same feeling that once made this bar one of the better locations on the strip. The specials on certain days Are specifically for college students as opposed to being for all patrons like they once were. So instead of a great deal during the week if I'm not a student who shouldn't even be in a bar and cant even legally buy a drink then I'm stuck paying full price. Not only that now there are underage, men posing as security guards that only show up on Saturday nights and on no other day of the week who demand ID when I walk in the door and attempt to charge me a cover fee to walk into a bar that on every other day of the week, I walk right into and sit right at the bar and go ahead and order anything I want. Not only that they only take cash. There's no way to pay this door cover fee that only is imposed on Saturday other than with cash. And the reality is this precaution should specifically surround the student crowd, but but the student crowd show their IDs at the door their IDs that do not have their age at the door and the security guards let these students in that door without even properly verifying their age and because they showed their student ID they don't require them to pay at the door. The security guards are bogus. And I'm gonna be frank. The bar is not that good. If I'm paying a cover charge at the door, you need to be playing different music then you're playing all week that same playlist better not be on if you're gonna charge at the door if you're gonna charge at the door, then you need to have a DJ live actually actively playing music in order to get people in a different type of vibe if you're gonna treat people differently on Saturday. It's the same shitty bar that it is on Wednesday on Saturday. Same shitty music same shitty food same shitty bartenders same shitty management. The only difference is they want you to pay at the door to get in and if you're not in Binghamton student pay regular price when the Binghamton student shouldn't even be in the damn bar to begin with. More than likely, I won't be going back, but if I do, I will be back here to let you people know just how it really is. read more

They bring over a bottle of champagne and a big glass of OJ to make your own mix. The OJ was watered down but they said it was due to their new drink system. Since some bar restaurants downtown recently closed down, we were excited to see how this new place stacked up. For a place called "The Grove" they don't have much of any greenery. The ambiance is pretty open and echoey. Not to mention, the lights in the front section straight up don't work, so we ended up sitting in the dark after the sun set. The food presentation and quality is extremely lacking. The menu makes it sound a bit on the classier side yet you see cheap, dry cabbage salad as a half-assed garnish or burgers with shredded cheese from a bag and buns that look like they're in bulk from the grocery store, not even toasted. The effort is just not there. I would say the food is... ok to bad. And it's extremely pricey for what you get. Not to mention, when we walked back to the bathrooms we saw a cart of chips and salsa pre-prepared, which tells me they could have been sitting out for hours. The alcohol selection is ok but they only have bottles and cans, so nothing on tap. Drink specials include $4 shots, $6 drinks, and $16 pitchers during Happy Hour. But they go heavy on the ice and had quite a heavy pour on a Jack and Coke. This place seems like they're trying to be a cool bar lounge but they can't seem to get either of those right. If you're just here for a place to get drunk, maybe, but it's nothing more than that. Overall I'm glad I didn't waste my money on trying the $31 lamb chops because I'm pretty sure I would have been disappointed based on everything else me and my friends ordered. Which was about $120 between us 4, which is pretty outrageous. I do my best to be thoughtful and fair in my reviews. But I don't think I'll be coming again. read more

This place has off!!! vibes. So off. It's like if Binghamton greek life birthed a bizarre restaurant. Granted that honor used to belong to the colonial and dos rios, but at least those restaurants had pretty good food and pretty good ambiance. This is a soulless place with ok food. The food may be the only redeeming quality and it's on par with Chilis. Binghamton has some really great food, and this would never in a million years make my top 10. Service is fine? Any contest they advertise is a scam to bring people into the restaurant so please don't get your hopes up. It's rigged so staff members win and just return the prize money to the restaurant. I've been here a few times and have always had a great experience. Really great lunch special and I love the chicken sandwich. Portions are pretty good and pricing is fair. Honestly the worst overall restaurant experience I've had in probably a 5 or 6 years. I struggle to remember anything worse. Service- To start, our waiter was unprofessional, clearly drunk or high on something, and was generally rude in a subtle, passive agressive sort of way. Aslo, the cooks apparently forgot to make my meal. This was only discovered once the waiter brought everyone else's food to the table. I ended up having to wait an extra 10-15 minutes for my food to be made while everyone else ate at my table. Menu- Just ridiculous. They have $11-14 sandwiches and small fare or entrees that range from $25-$30, with nothing in between. Furthermore the chef has no originality. Venue- The interior is probably the saddest part of the whole experience. The only decor they have is a few square feet of basically astroturf pinned on one wall. It's noisy, drab, gray, and cold. Just horrible. The food- I ordered a chicken sandwich. The bread was a stale, sesame seed bun akin to great value brand. The pounded to shit chicken patty was covered in a thin layer of partially melted mexican blend shredded cheese. The sandwich was rounded out with a limp slab of iceberg lettuce, a grainy, milky tomato slice, and a poot of yellow mustard. Concusions- I'm just baffled. You can expect to have a better dining experience in the average school cafeteria. read more

Food: the reason why I gave this place 3 stars instead of 5 was because the Caesar salad wasn't too great and I feel like that is pretty hard to mess up. They just put wayyyy too much dressing, not enough croutons and for grilled chicken I was missing the grill I think it was pan cooked. To start, service was awful, the restaurant was very slow not many people and the staff of 4 people on the front of the house took way too long for the amount of work she was actually doing. Besides service the food was bland, way over cooked, and over salted, to add to that we were charged $.50 for honey mustard. I am actually surprised by how bad the food is here. The location is great but that is about it. I ordered salmon with a caesar salad and vegetables as my side. The salmon was over cooked and the mixed vegetables came straight out of the freezer. For $26 I would expect fresh vegetables! My waiter was friendly and did offer to swap out my sides but at that point why bother. My guess is all the sides are probably equally bad. I will not be back here again! read more

Came here for food and drinks with friends. They really advertized this place as a chill upscale place but they litterally served us really poorly made food. The burgers were literally made with smushed patties they bought from weiss grocery store. The apetizers were tiny and overpriced. The drinks either had ice in them up to the top or too much alcohol in them. My wife had a salad and that even tasted horrible. When i ordered one of their sandwiches it came in a burger bun. All the food was cold and took 40 minutes to come out. Loved this place! We always try to visit local and support local eateries. We stopped in on a whim on a Saturday afternoon. The place was packed. so we sat at the bar. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. The chicken is tender and obviously hand breaded, served on a toasted roll with one side. I chose the sautéed veggies which were cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the steak sandwich, cooked medium with a garden salad. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly, the salad was crisp and fresh. It looks like they offer some amazing specials and we will definitely return to give those a try. Service was great, even though we sat at the bar and the place was busy. The bartender was friendly and we had a nice conversation. This is such a great addition to the food scene in downtown Binghamton! Bravo!!! read more

My rating would have been much worse had the food not been as good as it was. We ordered an appetizer and three meals. After about 35 minutes, we called another server over (ours had not been back to the table since placing our order) to find out what was going on. She went back to check and came back and said all had been ordered at once. She apologized and said she was taking the appetizer off the bill and our meals would be right out. About 15 minutes later, the hostess came out and apologized and told us our meals would be right out. About 10 minutes after that, we called over the second server and asked what was going on. She went back to check again, and came back to tell us ours was being plated and would be right out. About 5 minutes later we received our meals. Mind you, only half the tables were occupied. Our app was chicken quasos, and were pretty good. The wife got a chicken sandwich, Daughter got Cajun shrimp and me a steak sandwich all which were pretty good. To top it off, they were so apologetic, they offered us a free desert (apple pie), which we accepted to go. We got home only to find out they put ice cream on it. Lol.
