Three shrimp tacos, rice and beans & cauliflower tacos...

We come here for Brianna She's the best server ever!!! So easy going, soooo nice and so efficient!!! And the picture of our food speaks for itself. Fast ‍service! The "broke" margaritas were fantastic (two for one). Thank you !!!

Another great experience, food was excellent and server was so friendly and chill. Forget his name but he did a great job. Love this place!

Terrible experience. Can't review the food because after more than an hour wait, we gave up and left. Abysmal effort. Just a bunch of employees standing around in a half-filled bar looking confused, lost and utterly helpless. Tacos are a lot of things but they are NOT complicated. Tacos are street food - made fast to move fast. Garage Taco has no sense of propulsion, much less service or customer experience. Again, awful. If this place existed in a town that had any semblance of competition or pace they would be out of business yesterday.

Fun atmosphere, food you can eat with your hands, and a friendly staff? Sign me up. They have wine in a can. This place ain't pretentious! The tacos are the highlight, and don't sleep on their side salad. It's also a good place to knock back a few on a date or after work (if you work downtown, that is, otherwise parking can be tricky). You get the fun and liveliness of downtown without all the "extra" of being closer to State St. Wait times for tables can be up to 40 minutes, but the bar is first come first serve, so if you see a spot, grab it. You'll be able to order from the full menu. Portion sizes are generous, so you won't be hungry when you walk out.

Stopped by for dinner on our mini family vacation and was feeling some Mexican food. The food was subpar but the service was good. Server was friendly and answered a lot of questions. Tacos from Barbacoa to fish didn't have much flavor. Tortilla seemed very large and not house-made. Loaded nachos was tasty but what you expect on a drunken night. The worst is the quesadilla. I would not recommend that item. It's hard to butcher a quesadilla but this one was loaded with too much sauce and drippy cheese that wasn't Monterey cheese. Seemed like sauce or queso.

We were in Binghamton and Garage was close to our hotel and dog friendly and oh yeah we love tacos and margs! It had just rained but the staff was kind enough to give us some towels to dry off the outdoor seating. We were starving after a long day of traveling so we ordered chips and queso, a shrimp taco meal, Barbacoa taco meal and the absolutely necessary margarita. The food came out quick and it was good. The chips were fresh and the queso was creamy and had just enough zip. The taco meals were filling and had some yummy rice and beans to accompany the tacos. The shrimp was cooked well and was flavorful. The barbacoa was tender and flavorful, the twist is that it was cooked with Dr. Pepper. On top of the delicious food we had an amazing experience from the wonderful staff. They were beyond attentive, kind and checked on us several times. They made sure our dog had water, we had enough chips and beverages and that we were enjoying our meal. The host was actually a cook who was not able to cook right now due to a wrist injury but he was a phenomenal server/ host and even brought out some yummy home made hot sauce that is made here on site. The only bad part of this meal is that it's not close to home.

Excellent Food, slow service and great vibe. Granddaughter wanted to come here so we did. Service was good to take order, slow to get food but they were slammed. Unfortunately my son ordered something they brought the wrong plate and then 2nd one came out after we all were done eating. Still the wrong plate. My son ended up eating it but only half the other half was very spicy. Waitress apologized as she was new. But no compensation for wrong order. But you need yo get the churro dessert. That is what gave them a 3 star. Awesome and all 5 of us split it. Granddaughter was entertained in the outdoor seating area while we waited. It was a long dinner over 2 hours to eat.

A Siskel & Ebert thumbs up.

Love the atmosphere, they have hardworking crew, and enjoyed my tacos with my son. Went late Friday night during karaoke and added to the vibe. Support local. Thanks for the yummy food.

That being said, I think it's fully decent food, if not totally authentic Mexican. Lots of variety on the menu. I mostly eat vegetarian, and they have a good number of vegetarian options, but I do really like their seafood dishes. I don't think anything on the menu is totally vegan as-is, but you could probably make some of the vegetarian specials vegan by requesting no cheese. The food is tasty and I would say well-prepared even if the presentation isn't always fancy. It does tend to be salty. If you like cheese, any of the cheese-based dishes like cheese enchiladas or chiles poblanos will delight because they are very cheesy. Their chips and salsa are great - the chips always come out warm and the salsa is simple but fresh. First batch of chips and salsa are complimentary and refills are pretty cheap, but one basket is sufficient for us. I tried the "Cinco de Melón" margarita this time, a frozen watermelon margarita with lots of Tajin. It was a good margarita - I really liked the spicy Tajin with the watermelon, and the drink was appropriately strong. Always friendly service and fun atmosphere. In my experience the service is almost never slow. The waitress on our last visit was actually a little too attentive; it felt like she was coming by every few minutes while we were eating to ask if we needed anything, but definitely better too much than too little. I've visited some other Mexican-American restaurants in the area in the past few years and it seems to me that the quality and degree of "authenticity" at Tapatios is comparable to similar places, so my family continues to come here because of proximity and familiarity.

As luck would have it, it was Binghamton Restaurant Week and we attempted a walk in - first available was three+ hours later - but the hostess mentioned we could get the RW menu at the bar and two seats were calling. Lots of choices on the menu but friend and I ended up having the same meal! Cup of Cauliflower, potato and leek soup to start was yummy - very comforting, not too thick, good flavor - I could have stopped here! But fortunately did not! Main was spectacular! Salmon with everything bagel spices served over pearl couscous in a risotto style was inspired (honestly, I will try this at home)! I hope this is a menu regular because I will crave this for many more meals! Add a black Manhattan and this meal is a treat! (Took the dessert course to go - blueberry cronuts were better than chocolate but both likely suffered a wee bit from loss of ambiance and slight steaming that occurred on drive - good for sure but did not compare to the rest of the meal). Shout out to Tommy F for exceptional service - attentive but not intrusive. Ambiance is lovely (the lighting dimmed as we sat - hysterical) but we also scored the most comfortable seats in the house (I hate a high top stool with no back and no padding on the seat - those stools look nice but should go away). I think it was Lauren, she was nice enough but did not go above and beyond for her customers. She did not want to move us to a more comfortable table, despite our requesting multiple times and the place was literally empty. Finally she was able to make it happen but it was already unpleasant. She was good with bringing us hot waters with lemon as requested, but there was zero proactiveness to refill the hot water or any of the iced water. It was like us going out and trying to please the waitstaff. She did make a good suggestion for the lavender gimlet cocktail. Overall disappointing.
